One man's secret is another man's motive for murder...
The big science-fiction convention has come to Glasgow and Mary Plunkett is living her best life. Amongst the colourful costumes, overpaid actors and nerdy merchandise, a killer is hiding. Being the first to discover the body, Mary is determined that her friends at the Wronged Women’s Co-operative will solve the crime before the local police force.
Meanwhile, in Invergryff a simple search for a missing father leads to a complex case where family secrets bubble up to the surface. With murders and complex personal issues to solve, life is never dull for the indomitable ladies of the WWC.
I love these books! Such great communities we get to visit! Always a doctor or midwife to keep things exciting and intense, plus really wonderful characters!
Another great story featuring the antics of the Wronged Women's Co-Operative where Mary goes to a science fiction convention in Glasgow and the make up artist ends up being killed so the WWCO investigate and I love the characters especially Bernie who is leader and set in her ways and is abrupt and does not suffer fools. This is a great story with a few laughs and twists that keep you interested and willing the club on. Can't wait for the next one. Would highly recommend. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
The thing I love about these books is that they are such an easy and enjoyable read. The WWC, despite being caricatures at times, are consistent and likeable characters and the storylines hold together. There is nothing too graphic or violent (if murder can ever be described as not-too-violent!) and the stories have a gentle humour. Perfect for the commute or a cosy read-in on a dreary winter's day.
Secrets Before Supper by T.E. Scott is book 10 in the Wronged Women’s Co-operative series. This is a fun cozy mystery series to read with the odd murder or crime to solve by this interesting mix of women. Bernie, Mary and Liz are the 3 private investigators behind the Co-operative and take on cases local to them in Scotland. They often end up assisting the police, as Mary’s partner is Sgt Owen Walker. They certainly have a mixture of cases in this book. It doesn’t take long for the humour to start, particularly where Bernie is concerned. Her people skills are nearly non-existent. She also has tunnel-vision with regards to the Co-operative and expects Mary and Liz to put it first, at all times. This is an easy read but certainly entertaining.
