My career has taken some interesting twists and turns - from cars to queues- cellular phones to celebrity chefs.
But I needed something more which is why I turned to a life of crime.
A reader commented that my first business book, You're Next, read like a thriller. That got me thinking. Could I write an entertaining, compelling series of novels set against the background of my career? Oh sure, there would have to be lies, fraud and murder, along with some delicious scandal and just a touch of romantic intrigue - in short, all the elements you'd expect in a compelling, page-turning thriller.
So here, from my base, on the western edge of Dartmoor, in delightful Devon, I'm plotting the career of Jake Elderfield. I hope you can join me on the journey.

I love a good crime noveI was hooked from the first page. . A satisfying plot which keeps you guessing. Believable characters and a hero whose future adventures I am keen to follow.A fast paced read, full of intriguing twists and turns.Builds up to a fantastic climax. Redline is a fresh take on crime fiction, where the lead isn’t a detective, but an ordinary man caught in a whirlwind of deception, danger, and uncertainty.

This was exactly the kind of thriller I love fast, tense, and impossible to put down. From the opening accident to the final chapters, the story keeps tightening the screws. Every time I thought I had figured out what really happened to Rod Race, the story twisted in a different direction.
Jake Elderfield is a refreshing lead character. He isn’t a detective or a superhero just a flawed guy trying to clear his name while uncovering a much bigger mystery. That made the stakes feel real.
What really worked for me was the atmosphere around the racing world and the family business. The secrets between the characters Carina, Bishop, Kat
kept me constantly guessing about who was trustworthy.
The last section ramps up the tension brilliantly. If you enjoy thrillers with corporate intrigue, shifting loyalties, and plenty of suspense, this one delivers.

What surprised me most about this book wasn’t the mystery, it was the characters.
Jake Elderfield is a deeply human protagonist. He’s carrying guilt, anger, and desperation, and watching him navigate a world where everyone seems to have hidden motives was fascinating. His struggle to clear his name while trying to save the company felt personal and believable.
Carina was especially interesting to me. One moment she seemed like an ally, the next moment she felt almost dangerous. Those shifting dynamics made the relationships in the story feel layered rather than predictable.
The writing also has a cinematic quality to it. I could easily picture the scenes unfolding like a film, especially the tense moments around the racing world.
A smart thriller with emotional depth. I’ll definitely read more from this author.

A Raymond Chandler type romp!
I love a good crime novel and this was one! It had humour ( tongue-in-cheek) , a femme fatale, and a likeable protagonist although it did take me a chapter or two to ‘get into’ but once I had, I read it within 24 hours. Great technical detail…not sure what it all meant but could follow the gist. Interesting details of the Isle of Man and Stratford.. obvious the author knows his stuff. I really enjoyed it.

So good, I read it twice.
A fast paced read, full of intriguing twists and turns. The story has a very short timeline and holds your attention so much so, it is difficult to put down. Was the owner of Race Engineerings death an accident? The race is on to keep the prestige car manufacturing business afloat and who is trying to sabotage its future. It is down to Jake to find the answers.
