This book blew me away! The story was completely immersive, and the characters felt so genuine. The FMC is one of the most relatable I’ve encountered in a long time—strong, yet realistic in knowing when to rely on others.

The author has created a unique and intriguing world, with a fresh spin on vampires and their societies that kept me hooked from the start.

I’m super excited for this series, and to see what comes next in the story!

This might be one of the more relatable FMCs I’ve seen in awhile, not a super intimidating badass but a strong woman who knows when she needs help and also when she can handle things on her own. I appreciate that because we all need help sometimes, and I enjoy when characters show this is okay. I also enjoyed the MMC giving up what he originally planned so soon for her, knowing that he loved her and wanted to keep her safe and he couldn’t just push that aside to get his revenge. Or push her aside to do “what is being asked”. He truly said, no I’m not gonna because she means too much to me. Obviously, we aren’t vampires and guardians or werewolves and hunters, but pushing those aspects aside made these characters so relatable I couldn’t put the book down. I read it all in one night (spoiler, I was exhausted the next day at work, but worth it). I can’t wait for the next book and more of this world, it’s going to be amazing!

This gave me old school vampire novel vibes.

Protective vampire, lonely humans, vampire covens and hunters, cursed items 🙌

Even though it’s less than 250 pages the story moves at a fast and fun pace, and that ending makes me look forward to the next book 🙌

Thanks you to the author for sending a copy my way 💕

Loved it! Slow burn! Brooding MMC alpha male! Standoffish doesn’t get close to anyone hates what he is. Vampires, vampire hunters. Yum. FMC bookloving introvert! The buildup is so good! Totally different vampire government and societies. Cursed book and trying to figure out how to get around it. Touch her and die. I couldn’t put the book down! Does leave on a cliffhanger! I cannot wait till book 2! 2/5 on spice!

“Midnight Kiss” is a novel that promises a passionate love story between a librarian and a vampire but unfortunately fails to live up to its full potential. The first half of the book is quite promising, with moderately interesting characters and an engaging plot. However, as the story progresses, the plot becomes confusing, and the dialogue loses strength.
Emily, the protagonist, is a librarian with aspirations of becoming a writer who struggles to find her place in the world. Although her passion for books is evident, her immaturity and impulsive decisions throughout the novel are frustrating. On the other hand, Alexander, the vampire, is a much more complex and fascinating character.
The secondary characters, for the most part, lack depth and do not contribute much to the plot. Michael, in particular, is a stereotypical character who fails to convince as a possible love interest for Emily.
The idea of a librarian who falls in love with a vampire is original and has great potential, but the execution leaves much to be desired. The plot feels rushed, and the dialogue is often forced.
In conclusion, “Midnight Kiss” is a novel that could have been much better. This book may not be the best choice if you are looking for an original and well-developed vampire story.

In a world where vampires and werewolves coexist among ordinary mortals, an undercurrent of danger pierces reality as dark as night. Secret organizations manage the affairs of vampires and how they relate to humans. And yet, not all wish to exist peacefully alongside their human brethren.

In Bloodlines of Love, Emily, a librarian at the New York Public Library, comes across an ancient tome, antiquated pages spattered with blood. Fascinated, she takes it home, and her life is never the same again. The tome tugs at her, filling her dreams and sickening her. But it’s not until Emily meets Alexander Knight that things start to, eventually, fall into place.

Alexander, a member of one of the vampire covens, must retrieve this book as it’s vital for continued peace. A rival organization, the Sanguine Nox, seeks the book as well for their own dark purposes. It seems easy enough for Alexander to become close to the lovely Emily and steal the book, so he thinks.

And yet, as their attraction towards each other grows, so do the stakes. Because not everything is as it seems, and secrets and danger lie closer to home than Emily ever realized.

Midnight Kiss is the first book in the Bloodlines of Love series, and is a promising start to an exhilarating series. The plot - though incorporating tropes common to vampire stories such as forbidden love, power politics, hidden secrets, and much more - doesn't feel worn out or overdone where other paranormal romance novels fall. Rather, it's engaging, fast-paced, and suspenseful, keeping readers at the end of their seats.

I appreciated how multi-faceted the characters were, as well. In a post-Twilight era, the primary female love interest can sometimes seem hollow, without agency of her own, and falls to the whim of her otherworldly lover. Emily, on the other hand, is intelligent, educated, and isn't just a damsel-in-distress - she has her own agency, making and abiding by her own decisions. It feels like a far cry from the Bella Swans of vampire romances.

Overall, those who enjoy paranormal romance, thrillers, and mysteries will find a lot to like about Midnight Kiss!

DISCLAIMER: I AM PROVIDING THIS REVIEW OF MY OWN FREE WILL WITHOUT ANY INTENTION OR EXPECTATION OF COMPENSATION, MONETARY OR OTHERWISE. NOR AM I KNOWN OR AFFILIATED WITH THE AUTHOR, EITHER PERSONALLY OR AS A SUBSIDIZING OR PROMOTING PARTNER.

Do not expect a gradual succumb to this story. Farahilda Winters gives you just enough slack to entice you before setting the hook and pulling you into a gripping and fast-paced story of intrigue, suspense, and romance with just enough spice to get your blood pumping.
The story is written in first person from the viewpoints of the two MCs, a beleaguered librarian, and a dashing vamp guardian. It has all the makings of a slow-burning F2L trope with the added flavor of an awkward triangle, and it takes place in modern (?) New York City. The writing itself is superb and well-edited.

The intrigue begins immediately with glaring questions about the mysterious book, who the enemy is, and who may be playing behind the scenes. The Vampire universe feels like a cross between Underworld and Blade, with undertones of The Matrix. At odds, factions, the United Coven versus Sanguine Nox, battling for their interests, namely the preservation/destruction of humankind. There are hints of other dark denizens, namely werewolves and hunters, who remain shrouded in mystery. All said, I found it to be a refreshing take on a worn-out vampire romantasy genre.
The story unfolds in conjunction with the translation of the book, revealing deeper intrigues and darker secrets while causing the Librarian MC to become obsessively attached to it.

The only issue I have is a single ubiquitous term the author invented to confer a definition of normalcy. The term is Morganl, and she uses it like a nebulous colloquialism to describe a status quo, ordinary or commonplace, i.e., ‘this wasn’t Morganl or ‘Things will go back to Morganl.’ The term honestly set my teeth on edge every time I encountered it. Otherwise, I found the entire story refreshing, delightfully easy to enjoy, and even easier to recommend with a solid four-star rating.

A book worth reading that has you wanting more!

I am a big fantasy fan, especially with vampires and such. The enjoyment in this book is far more than the book description. It has action, drama, love, and a bit of mystery. You will think you figured it out and learn that it's more to it.

We have Emily and Alex as the main characters with Mike, Cassia, and Morgan as great supporting characters. Emily is different in many ways and that leads to being the beacon for all and the perfect lover for Alex. Alex is special and shows he isn't the typical hate and kill all humans type. Mike is the neighbor who shows up when needed, but we are unsure what his motivates are. Cassia is a vampire who makes it clear how she feels. Morgan is the friend of Emily who is by her side trying to be a good friend. I loved seeing the many interactions between these characters and their growth in certain situations.

It was perfect how the author provided us with a descriptive and engaging story that allowed me to feel involved. I was able to understand why everyone was in the position they were in, their motives, their personalities, and much more. The ending of chapter one was more than enough to keep me reading. Chapter 14 was beautifully written with so much passion and allows us to see deeper into Alex and Emily. Things get even more interesting and intense after there.

I highly recommend this book. This is the first one and I fell in love with this, not sure how much better it can get. I will be getting book 2 right away. The end also has a Prequel as a gift that I find as a great gift and shows appreciation for readers.

This is a new author to me. Midnight Kiss starts with Emily, a librarian, and author who loves older books and tomes, ancient ones especially. She writes stories about vampires. When one crosses her desk about vampires, she cannot resist! She lives with her friend, Morgan, and a man across the hall, Michael is supposed to be a good friend, but you can just tell he wants more from her.

She starts receiving weird feelings, seeing things, visions or dreams, and bad things start occurring. Alexandar pops into her life; he wants, no needs to take the book. He will woo her to get it; only it will backfire in a very big way. As things progress with their relationship, the UC where Alexander works, starts making big demands of him. Also, Cassia, another in the UC is always trying to get Alexander for herself. She is pure evil!

When Emily’s world literally explodes, she will discover what goes bump in the night, why she is sick, why she is attracting monsters, and why bad things keep happening; she is a target! Plus, she is something other! This is a new tale with a few new spins to keep you entranced while reading. The book is EXCELLENT! The world building is wonderful! There is another sect of monsters that want to do nothing but possess, kill, and feed from humans. One that Alexander escaped from! Now, their main goal is to get the book, Emily, and perform a ritual needed for power. This ends in a cliffhanger! It is chock full of action, high heat, romance, mystery, and more. I already pre ordered the second book…it is that good!

Oh noooo I rarely do this but I went into this book completely blind and didn't realize it ends on a major major cliffy. I saw vampires in the blurb and I love librarian fmc stories so I thought 'what the heck, let's do this!'. I can't be too upset with myself though because I did enjoy the storyline. I'm just a major binge reader so usually I'll wait until the series is complete (or mostly complete) before I dive in.

I wished that there was more background info on both Emily and Alex. We get little snippets here and there but not near enough to truly connect with them. I'm not sure if that's intentional and more will come out in the next book or not. I did love how Alex's agenda changed pretty fast the more time he spent with Emily and it was good that we had dual POV so we knew how he actually felt and not left hanging by his actions. The verdict is still out on Mike. Morgan seems like an interesting friend/roommate. Cannot wait for Cassia to get her comeuppance. I'm already hoping we see more of Haldren and Julius in future books.

Also...any other millennials trying to reconcile how inept the supposed vampire slayer is in this book when all I can picture is Buffy kicking ass and taking names??

✨ Tropes you’ll find inside ✨
📖 Bookish heroine who accidentally unleashes magic and mayhem
🩸 Broody vampire who only has soft eyes for her
💋 Fated kiss that changes everything

Who else misses the golden era of vampire romances? Because this one brought it all rushing back.

This book gave me old school vampire romance vibes in the best way. Secrets, hidden identities, yearning (so much yearning), and those dark urban fantasy streets where danger and desire are never too far apart.

Emily the librarian stumbles into the vampire world when she finds a blood-stained diary, and suddenly she’s not just a target… she’s the prize. Alex, our broody vampire hero, is torn between duty and desire, and honestly, I was living for the tension. The chemistry? Electric. The angst? Delicious.

If you’ve been missing that classic paranormal romance energy mixed with urban fantasy danger and a cast you can root for, this will hit the spot. Curl up, dim the lights, and get ready to fall into a story full of danger, desire, friendship, and fangs.

I liked this book. The plot was fresh and well done and I was often surprised with the twist and turns.

I loved the mix of dark academia and vampires in a different sense than what were used to. Books about books will always be a hit in my opinion.

I definitely would have rated this book 4 🌟 or higher if it wasn't for the fact that the FMC's dialogue wasn't to my taste. She is 27 years old, but is written to speak like a 16 year old. I lost count of the amount of times she used the word "like" in her sentences. Her speech just unfortunately took me right out of the story.

This is such a pity, but I'm sure this book will find its audience who isn't bothered by this.

I recommend this book if you enjoy:

🩸 Vampire MMC
🩸 Angst
🩸 Dark academia
🩸 Ancient curse

I read this in a day. I devoured it, really. It's my first read involving vampires for the year and I'm not sure if I loved it or just liked it. The writing had a couple spots that desperately needed a re-wording. The clichés were a little too on the nose but it was still an enjoyable read! The plot was creative and original - to me. There wasn't a lingering on back stories as far as original stories for the vampire creation which is the presumed entry of a vampire character for all books and movies. Bleh. However, when the ending came ... I don't know if it necessarily pulled me in to jump to the second book of the series. I suppose I need a break or processing time from the ending. I guess it was the jump or the extra chapter that felt .. rushed? Eh, it was still a good read despite the clichés. The second book will probably address the lingering questions but I'm not sure when I'll want them answered.

This book deserves a 10 star. A page turner. I’ve never been big into vampire/romance.. this changed my mind 100%. I have not read a vampire/romance book this good in a very….VERY long time. I devoured this book in two days. I could have easily done it in one but I’m a mom! It is the perfect amount of smut. It’s not overwhelming. This book does not constantly repeat itself. Amazingly written. The characters are relatable. The author really came through with this book. I absolutely need more. I need the next book! I NEED to know what happens next! This is a book you didn’t know you NEEDED! The passion between Alex and Emily is enough to leave you burning and wanting more. Craving more! I swear my heart was elevated the entire time dying to know what’s next. A perfect heart pounding, slow burn page turner!

Interesting intro into a new paranormal world.
I loved that the MFC was a librarian working in archives. I also loved the inner turmoil of the MMC. However it did get annoying as the book went on.
It did feel like a little back and forth but once it picked up then it really picked up.
The book leaves on a cliffhanger and I'm wondering if the sequel will not only be a continuation of these main love interests or if other characters that were introduced (roommate and neighbor) will be getting their own love stories set in this world as well.
The world-building seemed to really develop as the book went on and I'm curious to explore it more.

A different take on Vampire romances.

Emily is sweet but she is sure surrounded by those keeping secrets. I kinda understand how they start needing to keep secrets but had the ones holding them opened up she wouldn’t have been in so much danger.

Michael… can you say stalker anyone? I mean from the get go he was just always there..

I really liked her roommate Morgan but she really wasn’t around a lot ..

Alex … hmmm … I keep going back and forth. That guy has some decisions to make.

Cassia .. I guess Vamps have mean girls too….

This is my first book from this Author. It's the first in the series so the book ends on a cliffhanger. I liked the premise of the story. The FMC being a librarian and the MMC a vampire. This is a world where vampire, werewolf, magic beings coexist in the dark. It is fast pace and it hasn't too many sex scenes for those who don't like them in their story. But to know how Emily and Alex pan's out you'll have to read book 2.

I love trying out books from new authors and I'm very happy I picked up this one. This book is an absolute page-turner, I couldn't put it down and devoured it over the weekend. The book is written very well, with relatable and engaging characters, it’s like stepping into their world. The author has a fantastic way of blending the supernatural with real-life emotions. I loved the romance and the unexpected twists. The main character is strong and independent, yet vulnerable, making her incredibly easy to root for. I'm completely hooked and can't wait to see where the series goes next!

If I'm going to be honest, I wasn't that much of a fan of this book. The beginning was great, wonderfully written and had me hooked into the story. However, by halfway I was able to easily predict what was going to happen next which made the read a little less enjoyable for me.

Because of my experience with this novel, I probably wont read the next one in the series, but I do still recommend this to any reader who enjoys paranormal/vampire romance!.

Who doesn't enjoy a good paranormal romance? Although, for me, this book wasn't life changing or a new obsession, it was an enjoyable read. I liked the writing style of the author and the unique concepts that separate it out from other PNRs out there. It took me a minute to get snagged, but once it did I couldn't put it down and now have to wait for the next one to see what happens to Emily and Alexander. Definitely recommend if you like an interesting vampire story with hunters, werewolves, and curses.

This is a page turning, suspenseful love story. Emily is a librarian and author of vampire stories. She finds a book in the library and cannot put it down. She has no idea that vampires are real and that she has met one. Alexander has been tasked to find the book that Emily has. He has been instructed to obtain it even if he has to kill Emily. The book does include a cliffhanger at the end.

This is the first book in the Bloodlines of Love series and has a unique storyline with vampires that will probably appeal to fantasy readers who don't usually read books about vampires. The storyline hooked me from the beginning and never let go. The story is written in a very exciting and captivating way, so that I couldn't put the book down. The characters are well written and developed. The twists in the storyline are also very well written and often surprised me.

Emily loves books and working as a librarian is a dream especially when she comes across rare books. Alex has been tasked to retrieve a book that can help them get an advantage over an enemy but the librarian manages to intrigue him. The plot is very interesting and the characters have depth to them. The book does end on a nail biting cliffhanger. Definitely looking forward to the next one.

This book was one I found on a whim and it was good. I thought the story line was good and the characters were likeable and some unlikeable.

I wanted more and felt Alex had no depth. (not saying more will not come out in book 2) Also Mike could not take rejection to save his life.
