"The Protective Storm Chaser" is a short story that promises an exciting, action-packed romance adventure but falls short. The premise of a damsel in distress rescued by a storm chaser is appealing. Still, the execution leaves much to be desired.
The relationship between Edie and Nate develops too quickly, needing more emotional depth to get the reader invested. Love at first sight can work in some stories, but it feels forced and unbelievable. The lack of significant conflicts between the characters also prevents the relationship from evolving naturally.
Despite its limitations, the story is well-written, and the pace is brisk. If you're looking for a light, quick read, "The Protective Storm Chaser" may be a good choice. However, for those looking for a story that makes them relate to the characters, this story is not for you.

The Protective Storm Chaser is the fourth book in the Love in a Storm series. This is a quick and bit dramatic story that was quite engaging. When Edie's life implodes she decides she needs a fresh start and that means going to the sunny beach in Florida. She does not know what town she will end up in but she just knows she needs to get there, along with her dog chihuahua mix Pepper. Along the drive there is an issue on the highway so she programs the GPS to take her on back roads, which is how she ends up in more trouble than she ever expected. Nate Headley, is an ex-Navy SEAL who now works for Mercury Ridge Storm Chaser Tours because he loves the adrenaline rush. Even when he is not working he sometimes needs the rush and that is how he ends up finding a small car sitting in the middle of the road and about to be washed away from a torrential storm that he is chasing. One look at the woman in the car and Nate is done for....almost literally if they don't get out of there quickly. But he also knows that once he has her he is not letting her go if she will just stay with him in Mercury Ridge.

Fired from her job as a waitress, Edie (h23) piles her dog Pepper into their car and heads south for the beaches of Florida in search of a fresh start. A violent storm leaves Edie and Pepper stranded on a mountain road until Nate (H), a retired Navy SEAL and storm chaser, shows up. But the dangers keep mounting and Nate has to put his skills to use as the storm rages around them. Edie and Nate are instantly drawn to one another and things quickly heat up, leading Edie to wonder if her fresh start is supposed to be in the mountains of Noirth Carolina with Nate. So many humorous moments, love the nod to other characters from Mercury Ridge. Must love mischievous fur children. Hot and steamy instalove, age gap, curvy girl, mountain man romance, exploring, love, connection, adventure, and belonging.

What a roller coaster I have been on. WOW. So I wish I had ended on a better note but I was generous and gave it 2 stars. We meet 2 new people this time around. Nate is a S.E.A.L. and boy does he want you to know it. It’s said like 10 times and this book is barely 30 pages. Edie is running away from her home town because she hit someone at her job and they fired her so she wants something new. Surprise a storm hits and her car breaks down. She meets Nate who tells her, the belt of her car is broken and she can stay with him until it gets fixed. When she goes to open her door her chihuahua jumps out and NAVY S.E.A.L. Nate runs off to save him. Edie thinks of yea, let me fuck you in your car as a THANK YOU. They end up falling in love and she the epilogue ends in them engaged. The end of the series.

Nate is trying to find time to keep himself busy. He works for the local Storm Chasers crew, but that leaves a lot of downtime. He decides to go chasing the tornado that might be coming.

Edie is just taking her time with her pupper, Pepper, driving this this quaint mountain town in North Carolina. She didn't expect to be caught up in a storm, tornado watch even. She's even more surprised when she is getting rescued by the most handsome man she's ever met.

This story is full up on action, fast moving weather, and the lengths men go to keep their women safer, even the puppers. It's fast, insta-love fast, and intense, and lets no let down on the steam and romance!!!!

This series is a great way to spend your free reading time!

Edie is fired from her job and decides she needs a new start. So, she and her dog, Pepper head for Florida. Unfortunately, along the way they come upon a storm and her car dies. Not what will she do as the storm intensifies. Nate notices her car sitting in the middle of the road and investigates. She is startled when Nate knocks on her window. One look at each other and it’s instalove. But, when he opens the door, Pepper runs out. Will Nate save the dog from the swollen waters? When she has no place to go, Nate offers his home as shelter, will she accept? The story and plot were well-written and fun to read.

The Protective Storm Chaser is Book 4 of the Love in the Storm series. It's a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, age-gap, opposites-attract, curvy girl gets her hunk romance. Edie is a 23 year old curvy waitress who was fired after punching a handsy customer. Now, she is driving from Cincinnati to Florida with her dog Pepper to start over. Nate is a hunky ex-SEAL turned Storm Chaser and tour guide for the Mercury Ridge Storm Tours company that's owned by Colby and Oz from prior books in the series. When Edie's car breaks down during a storm in North Carolina, Nate comes to her rescue while out chasing the storm. He falls instantly for the curvy beauty, and things get hot and heavy after the danger is over. These two had great chemistry, and we ended on a happy note.

Beyond Short 😭😭

I enjoyed reading this story so much. As short as it was I still enjoyed it. Love all the characters and storylines from each of the stories in this series. Edie on the road from Cincinnati after losing her job. She hits a storm and her car dies. Flooding is getting higher from the creek it’s dumping so much water on the road. Nate a ex Navy S.E.A.L. is in his garage working off some of the stress he has. When the thunder strikes then hail he is out the door in his truck. He’s driving trying to outrun the flooding and sees hazard lights up ahead. He stops his truck and… 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊

This is a short story, less than an hour read. It’s all about instalove in a storm. Nate takes people on tours to get close to storms. He’s an ex navy seal trying to get on with his life. While chasing a storm he comes across Edie whose car has broken down. It’s instalove for both. Fast read, steamy and sweet with a great HEA. I love a good short story like this just to relax a little. Fun little read.

Edie lost her job, and decided to start over somewhere new. While driving through the mountains of North Carolina gets stuck in a bad storm.
Nate is out chasing the storm and comes upon a car stuck in the worst place to be broken down during a bad storm.

A quick pace, insta-love, short novella. And a cute dog included as well.

Edie is on the road looking to start anew when she runs into a storm and is rescued/discovered by Nate. He almost gets swept away by the storm trying to rescue her precious dog but all ends well and things quickly escalate between them.

This is a short instalove story that is fast paced. I found it a more simple story that the previous books in this series but it was entertaining still.

The Protective Storm Chaser is steamy hot insta-lust in the midst of crazy wet weather. Nate is a brave and gorgeous loner with a bit of crazy—in a good way. Wanting to be needed, to serve, he meets his match in Edie. She is a bit naive and sweet as can be, and boy are they combustible together! This was a hot and sweet short read that lights up the pages and makes the heart race.

Their torrid love - Nate and Edie meet in the middle of a storm. Their passion rises as high as the water, carrying them off to their HEA. The last in series is as good as the rest. I listened to the Audible version of them all. Suggestion for all AI performances - Maybe fix the words so the AI can read the words properly. "Read" and "Lead" are just a few of the words I have heard mispronounced over the time I have enjoyed audiobooks.

This is a spicy novella that pulls your attention in from the beginning and holds it to the end.. The storyline is interesting and intriguing as the elements unfold in their relationship. The characters are well written with steamy magnetic chemistry. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Knight in Shining Armor
Edie is driving when a storm hits and her car breaks down. Nate is out chasing the storm when he comes across Edie’s car. Between the rescue and the ride back, these two go from zero to sixty in a heartbeat - phew! I truly enjoyed this speedy read - Edie was a character and Nate was so brave (so swoony!). A fun bit of reading.

This is fun fast read as Edie heads to Florida and finds herself in the middle of a storm, and Nate an ex-SEAL who is chancing it.
