Ollie wasn't looking for trouble, but after she saved the Antichrist from being slaughtered, it came for her.
Ollie lived by one rule. Never get involved with anyone for any reason; humans, demons, fae folk, it didn't matter. They were all trouble. Keeping her distance was how she survived in the criminal underworld for so long.
Keep your head down and don't piss anyone off. That was her motto, especially since her clients all had access to powerful dark magic.
She thought she had a flawless system for keeping her nose clean, so how did she wind up in a stolen car, with a demon spawn in her back seat, driving away from her ex-lover and a gang of demons ready to skin her alive?
That's a good question.
And why did she agree to help save the demon's life so she didn't get sacrificed to open the gates of Hell? An even better question.
She had one rule. One stupid rule. And tonight...it goes right down the toilet.
Now, the only way for Ollie to get her life back is to save the girl, prevent the Apocalypse, and track down the people who betrayed her.

Ollie isn’t exactly human, and her dealings in the shady underbelly of magic users, demons, monsters and fairies can come with it’s fair share of trouble. There’s a reason Ollie doesn’t trust a soul except herself, and keeps her distance, even from her own mother…
So how did she wind up with an antichrist to protect, a love-struck troll hunting her down and a demon lord to take revenge on; all while racing against the countdown to Armageddon??
Wowzer – I have to admit I was hooked from the first page! I absolutely loved the gritty 80s setting, it was the perfect backdrop to this magical crime drama. Ollie is what you’d expect from someone who learned the hard way that their dad was a demon – a jaded, petty and untrusting criminal, her only true friend an alien with a mission to get the hell off this primitive planet. She’s a sarcastic smart aleck, but you have to admire her ability to crack jokes even when her life is on the line. It seems almost unfair to her enemies just how strong her powers are and how easily she seems to be able to survive the craziest sh*tstorms, but she’s far from the perfect hero; which makes her all the more relatable and likeable.
The writing style was superb: witty, fast-paced and to the point while still catching all the dark and dirty details to draw us into such a fantastical world. The author isn’t afraid to write his female characters as absolute badasses, while giving them believable flaws and traumas that have a true effect on the story. I really did appreciate the variety of unique and complex women characters, and how they all had great character development.
The only letdown was the confrontation with the main villain. Ollie has been chasing after them for the entire book, been through hell (literally), and sacrificed so much in the search for revenge… But the wrap up felt anti-climactic. The ending felt slightly rushed and the ~impossible task~ a touch too easy to complete, with little consequences but still had enough going on that I wasn’t totally turned off. I was, however, pleasantly surprised with the depiction of the devil, something a bit different but really tied in nicely to the setting.
If you love a dramatic demon-hunting/ass-kicking adventure, reading this is a no-brainer. I’ve found a new favourite author in Russell Nohelty, and will absolutely be getting my hands on the rest of this series!
