Fantastic! This is book 2 in the series. I do recommend reading book 1 first but if you don’t this still works as a standalone. Anyway, I absolutely loved this story! Especially Bennett, I just thought his sense of humor was hilarious and the things he said just cracked me up! I also loved how we had a bit of an amnesia trope included in the story with Delphine, who Bennett finds unconscious in the woods and brings to his family manor. She does quickly remember though except for the important detail of how she ended up in the woods. Which is a very interesting and great part of the story. While she is recovering Bennett and Delphine get to know one another and grow close even though they both don’t want to marry currently. But maybe they should change their minds. Also I really loved the family dynamic of Bennett’s family, especially between him and his siblings. Overall I really loved this lighthearted and romantic story with a splash of mystery and I most definitely recommend!

This book was just perfect. 🩷 It never once had a dull moment, never slowed down, kept me questioning everything over and over, one minute I'd think I had it figured out, then had to rethink it the next! 😅
It was written soooo beautifully, the characters are so full of love and friendship and humor, and I just love how Laura Beers weaves in so much character building and encouragement into her books, it's so enlightening and makes the characters feel so real. 🥰
Delphine and Bennet both had to learn so much, and I loved how they didn't fully find the healing and life in themselves till they found each other. 🩷
The first book was just lovely as well, but this one is definitely my favorite in the series so far, and I can't wait for Winston's story next!
A perfectly clean regency story full of humor, redemption, and love. 🩷

“I have you.”

-A Brilliant Alliance, is the second novel in the series by author Laura Beers. This dear story continues with The wonderful Lockwood Family series. This is a light-hearted, clean, humorous, delightfully wholesome, redemptive love story set in the Regency era. Engaging from start to finish with the wonderful banter, and the twists and turns this story brings about. A story that is well-written with such endearing characters and family dynamics, that will have your heart. It is wonderfully weaved with love, friendship, devotion, humor, and some mystery along the way. I loved watching dear Bennett make the choice to confront his own desires and decide whether to fight for love against all odds! Watching Bennett and Delphine grow, heal, and know what love is all about with each other along the way was heartwarming. This is a lovely story worth the read! It will have you excited for more to come in this fun series!❤️📚🙌🏻

Oh, how I adore the Lockwoods! But Bennet, aka Lord Dunsby, is a special character and my new official book crush. This man is hilarious and expertly written. Sometimes, that is a unique quality in a Regency romance, and it was refreshing and fun to have a MMC like Bennet spreading joy all throughout the story. He was also surprisingly steady and loyal for a guy who is pretty rocky about himself, but he comes across in the most endearing way (especially to Delphine 😉).

“I don’t often get to save a damsel in distress, but when I do, I do it well.”

See what I mean? 🤣

Where do I even begin about Delphine? I love a strong female character. But just when she decides her independence can fudge a little for a guy like Bennet, the truly unthinkable happens. A twist that no one could possibly see coming, and then they don't stop from there.

My heart was tormented and tried until the end. The supporting characters in all the Lockwood siblings wonderfully rounded out this tale. I loved this story of friends-to-more with the surprising twists and turns. Now, how soon can Winston's story come out so we can revisit the Lockwood family?

I received a complimentary copy of the author's story to read and review. All thoughts contained here are my own.

Thrilled to visit the Lockwood family again!! I love this family so much!

I adored Bennett Lockwood in the first book and he did not disappoint. Full of humor and charm. He loves fiercely.

Delphine is strong and determined to do everything on her own. To prove she can handle running the land and business left to her. She has no need for a husband, for he would just take over everything anyways. Spending time with Bennett and his family while recovering her memories, Delphine can’t help but charmed by Bennett and his loving family. Perhaps being alone isn’t what she wants after all.

I loved watching Delphine interact with the whole Lockwood family. They open her eyes to what a loving family is, something she lacked growing up. She fits right in with them, joining in their hilarious dinner conversations.

I enjoyed Bennett and Delphine’s witty banter and growing affection. Bennett was so sweet with her, always making sure she’s taken care of.

What a joy this book is. Full of humor and love and oh the twist. A delightful read you won’t want to put down.

Thank you to Laura Beers for the copy. All opinions are my own.

"What a wonderful twist of fate that she was found by a handsome earl who brought her home to a loving family. Perhaps someone should write a book about that."

This was the very first book I have ever read by Laura Beers, and I was blown away!

Bennett happens to come across a wounded woman in the woods and takes her home to be cared for. Delphine has passed out in the woods after an accident she can remember nothing about. She thankfully is picked up (literally) by Bennett and taken to his estate where it is safe to recover. At first, she is in a rush to get back home and handle her estate. But as she spends more time with Bennett and his family, she finds she doesn't want to leave nearly as much. She doesn't believe in love, she doesn't need it, and yet... Bennett makes her believe she may be capable of it. But when people show up at the estate to come take her back home, Delphine is at risk. And either her memories return fast, or Bennett and his family will need to find a way to keep her safe and get to the bottom of who she really is, and who she really belongs with.

I don't think I ever smiled so much as I did reading this story. This family, their joking around, sarcastic remarks and little tricks they played on each other... it was all out of love and I loved it. I understood why Delphine would get so wrapped up in their family's love that she starts to desire it for herself. Gosh Bennett is hilarious and yet so, so necessary in all of this. Saving her life (don't forget this, or he will remind you, lol) , looking out for his younger brother Winston, being concerned and picky as his twin sisters approach the season. But nothing touches his love, respect and attentiveness to Delphine. May we all find a man like that, in our corner... like Bennett is for Delphine. ❤️ She's a countess that owns a castle and has no need to marry. But with Bennett close by, the desire she never had is now beginning to grow. But she leaves soon, to go home and back to running her business. Worrisome of it all, she still doesn't know what put her life in danger in the first place. Did she get lost? Or was someone after her, her status, and her money and THEY put her at risk? It may be risky heading home without that knowledge. And even more risky heading home if you believe you may be in love for the first time... no matter how much you deny it.

You all have to read this book! Sorry if this review is so choppy! I just am all over the place wanting to share so much of this story, and yet not give too much away. You have to read this!

Bennett Lockwood, Earl of Dunsby, discovers an injured woman, Delphine, Countess of Dunrobin, in the woods near his estate. Their initial meeting sparks an intriguing mystery as Delphine struggles with amnesia, leaving her past and why she was in the woods a mystery.

I loved this story! Bennett is so sweet, caring and protective toward Delphine, and I felt for Delphine as she struggled to piece together her past while navigating an unfamiliar environment, but I loved how determined she was to assert her independence. That was a clue to her position in Society, as she was used to giving orders, not taking them. Once Delphine remembered who she is, there was still the mystery of why she was in the woods so far from her home. I loved seeing the other members of the Lockwood family and how Delphine developed feelings for them. They're such a wonderful family.

There are several things I loved about Bennett; one of them is his sense of humor!! Too many titled men are so serious about everything, and I think a life with Bennett would always have laughter. "What you are proposing is rather scandalous, my lord," Delphine said. "Good. I try to do at least one thing a day that is scandalous," he joked. "It keeps me young."

One of the reasons I'm a huge fan of Laura Beers' books is the suspense that's woven into her regency romances and this one had a few twists I did not see coming! She skillfully balances romance and intrigue, creating a story that keeps readers invested in both Delphine’s recovery and the growing connection with Bennett. This is a perfect read for fans of historical romance who enjoy a dash of suspense.

I can never skip a Laura Beers book. They have the perfect blend of plot, romance, and witty characters.

Bennett Lockwood l, Earl of Dunsby, finds a wounded woman in the woods and takes her home to care for her. Delphine wakes up not remembering who she is. Confused about her past, she is desperate to recover her memories and return to her life. But the more time she spends with Bennett and the Lockwood family, she learns what being part of a loving, supportive family feels like. Being an independent woman, will she open up herself to love?

I absolutely loved Bennett! He was funny and witty and such a beautiful character of a man. (Would somebody please make these men real?!) He was so careful and attentive towards Delphine. Delphine was awesome! I loved her character. She was so independent and capable, especially for the time period she’s set in. I love how she slowly falls in love with the members of the Lockwood family, and mainly Bennett. Their witty banter and deep conversations just made the book much more enjoyable.

I loved everything about this book. I’m not usually a fan of the amnesia trope in books, but it was done so well here I couldn’t be mad about it. I felt like it offered Delphine a clean slate to learn about love and family. This is the second book in the series, but it can read as a standalone. This was such a fun read!

Thank you to the author for a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Seamlessly return to the Lockwood family! Bennet is the charismatic Earl in Dunsby, that has found a woman barely alive and unconscious in the woods. Under the care of the Lockwoods, she overcomes amnesia and is able to recover all her memories except her most recent that explains how she, Delphine, the Countess of Dunrobin, arrived in a life-threatening state in the woods. While awaiting the doctor's approval travel, she has found herself captivated by her rescuer and enjoying life in the midst of a loving, welcoming family, a foreign experience compared to her past. Her determination to run her own business and estate keeps her looking forward to the day she is able to travel home until guests arrive to recover her. A neighbor claiming to be her husband and her best friend have come filling in her missing memories with a story she does not want to believe is true. Her cousin trailing behind them that believes her title rightly belong to him. Bennet grapples with his love for her, having to treat her as a married woman, knowing something is wrong with their claims and not wanting to release her without knowing she is safe. The danger intensifies and emotions run high as the truth is uncovered and Delphine is faced with the depth of hatred that almost took her life and is determined to be carried out.

The Lockwood family is at it again with all of the banter and close family dynamics!

Bennett, the Earl of Dunsby finds himself the hero of this story and with it his perfect match. Finding a young woman close to death in the woodlands, he brings her back to the manor only to later discover that she is a countess who is dead set on staying single. Unfortunately this is the one woman who has truly captured his notice. As the mystery of why the woman was in the woodlands to begin with unfolds and as Bennett gets to know her better, attachment grows and feelings begin to change. Will things turn out right for our hero and damsel in distress?

I enjoyed getting to know Bennett a bit in the first book and I was excited that we got his story next! I really liked the dynamics between Bennett and Delphine. They truly were equals in so many ways. The twists and turns in the plot made things interesting and the ending was satisfying. It was fun coming back to this series and I can’t wait for more stories to come!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. I was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this second book in the Lockwood Family Series. This series really is best read in order as this book picks up where the last book ended. This story starts with the wedding of the characters from the first book. Bennett Lockwood, Earl of Dunsby, was the one who brought his friend and cousin together. He wants to find a love match like the one that his parents model. Feeling discouraged he decides to ride his horse after the wedding. He finds a young woman lying injured in the woodlands. He brings her home to get medical care and begins to feel very protective of her.

Delphine, Countess of Dunrobin, has no memories of how she was wounded and ended up in the woodlands. She wakes up in a strange room and is thankful for the care of the Lockwood family. Most of her memories have returned accept why she was so far away from her home. She is an independent woman who runs her father's business and inherited his wealth. She remembers her cousin who is not happy that she inherited what he wants. Delphine feels it is not the time for her to marry even as she enjoys her time with Bennett. The family can see the growing attraction between Bennett and Delphine even though they both deny it. An unexpected situation may end any chance of the two of them revealing their feelings.

This story involves a lot of interaction with the other siblings in the Lockwood family as the author lays out some breadcrumbs for future stories. I love the little clues she slips into the story and look forward to what's coming next.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

Delphine, Countess of Dunrobin, awakens to find herself in unfamiliar surroundings, her past shrouded in uncertainty. Grateful for her rescue, she leans on the Lockwood family for support, particularly Bennett, whose kindness captivates her.

As Delphine recovers, Bennett’s feelings deepen, even as she resolutely declares her reluctance to marry. Bennett, oh Bennett! I loved him in ‘An Unwitting Match’ and I was so happy to read his story. He deserves a love match and all the happiness he can find. He is so very witty, cares so much for his family, and loves Delphine fiercely. Delphine was kind, independent, and determined. The friendship Bennett and Delphine developed was heartwarming and seeing their love blossom was perfect.

In true Laura Beers fashion, the witty banter between the family members kept a smile on my face and as always a few laughs.

I enjoyed getting to know Melody and Elodie a little more too! And I cannot wait for Winston’s story that is coming out next.

Favorite quote: “ I have learned what love truly is because of you,” he said. “I promise to be the type of man who will never let you down.“

Another great Laura Beers books! This is the second book in the Lockwood family series and it has made me love this family even more!

Bennett finds an unconscious woman in the woods. When the woman, Delphine awakens, she remembers bits and pieces of her life, but not everything.

I loved Bennett’s fun loving way of interacting with his sisters and Delphine. He brought in humor without taking it too far and endeared himself to me and to Delphine. I love when humor is used just right.

In addition to the romance, the book also has a mystery to solve. Why was Delphine injured in the woods? Who was she with? Where was she going? I enjoyed figuring out the mystery with the characters.

I can’t wait for more stories about this family! While this book is second in the series, it could be read as a stand alone novel.

I absolutely loved Bennet and Delphine‘s story!! This one makes the favorites list. Bennet reminds me of my husband with his quick banter and personality, so obviously, I loved him and found him relatable.
Yet again, like the other books I’ve read from this author (all of them), she has just the right balance between funny and sweet and mystery which is part of why I love her books so much. I felt Delphine’s frustration in parts of the story, dealing with the people and situations. I don’t want to give spoilers so that’s as much as I’ll say.
A few more thoughts:
Elodie with bread and butter- accurate and definitely how bread should be buttered and appreciated.
I loved her sister, too. It’s the quieter ones you have to watch out for.
I can’t wait for Winston’s story next (and basically this entire family/series). Will we be seeing Grady more? Because for one reason or another I kinda hope so.
But, what’s happening with Sarah, Issac, and Jasper? So many possibilities in this series and I’m here for it.

What a charming and delightful book. Bennett is out for his morning ride when he spots something at the bottom of the ravine. He rushes down to find a beautiful young woman grasping for life. He quickly gets her to the top of the ravine and on his horse to bring her back to Brockhall Manor, where he promptly asks the Butler to summon for the doctor.
This made for a fast paced beginning into the lives of Bennett and his family, and introduces us to Delphine, a countess in her own right.
This story has a damsel in distress, memory, loss, deceit, false accusations, with delightful banter, mischievous sisters, loving, family, and sweet romance. I couldn’t ask for anymore out of a regency romance. It is the second book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

An absolutely wonderful story!
This book will pull you in and not let you go. It is so good. Bennett, the Earl of Dunsby, finds a woman unconscious in a muddy ravine. When she awakens two days later, she has no memory except her name, Delphine. Shortly afterwards, she remembers her distant past, including that she is a countess with lands, a business, and wealth, but nothing recently. As she remains in the Bennett’s family home recovering she sees a way of life she had never experienced. When her friend arrives with a man that claims to be her husband, and then her cousin who has been after her title since she inherited it. With them comes a sense of unease and threat but from whom and how? So very good. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

clean romance

I enjoyed this story a great deal!

I love the Lockwood family with their love, humor and teasing. But most if of their supporting of each other.

This second book in the series is a standalone, but having read it in sequence thus far I recommend it as it allows the reader to understand the “backstory “ that is happening.

I found the banter between the hero and heroine is fun and adds to the growing interest in each other.

The plot starts off with a mystery and revolves around the attempt to solve the problem. The author does a great job of keeping the mystery alive and dropping hints along the way.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

Bennett and Delphine's story was so lovely. He's the hero she didn't know she needed, and she's the piece of his heart that he found by surprise. The mystery of how Delphine came to be found by Bennett in the woodlands along with the twists the story took along the way were thrilling and made me not want to put the book down. The author did an excellent job of bringing the reader into the depth of Bennett and Delphine's feelings as they navigated their growing love for each other and the roadblocks in their path.

The book works as an excellent standalone story, but reading the series in order gives you a deeper understanding of Bennett's character and more fun with the delightful Lockwood family.

a genre for any time

Could have been better edited or proof read, for example the sudden entry of a goat with a name that wanted to put its head in your lap, that is mentioned nowhere else, it just appears then disappears, magically having an unconscious lady sitting in a saddle while the male pulled himself up behind her,. So many things left unfinished, I suppose that’s why there are more books. Tiresome.
The dithering of the two main characters over their feelings for eachother and what they thought the other person felt for them is overly used and very unoriginal.
So while it was clean and sweet, it doesn’t really have a lot going for it, except the characteristic s of the characters.

Back with the Lockwood Family and so happy about it!

Bennett wants true love someday, like his parents.
Delphine doesn't want her rights and freedoms taken away through a marriage.

When he finds a woman unconscious in his woodlands, he immediately takes her home and gets her help. When she finally awakes, she has no idea who she is or what happened.

As she recovers, memories of who she is return, but on why she was unconscious in the woodlands isn't coming back. But these two spend time together, and a spark is lit.

When something completely charges the circumstances, Bennett will do anything to have a chance with the woman he has fallen in love with.

Fun story!!! Surprises around each corner! And such great characters!

First of all thank you to the author for providing me an ARC! This review is honest, I truly liked the book and the story

A Brilliant Alliance is book 2 in The Lockwood Family series. It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading book 1.

Bennett and Delphine’s story is wonderful, two people with very different goals that are united by fate.
The regency era setting is wonderful and the Lockwood family is endearing. Can’t wait for book 3!
If you love clean romance in a historical setting, funny and lovable characters, this is a series you need to read 🖤

Sweet, period romance

Romance, sweet, period; period, but stand alone read
Delphine and Bennett’s story is a happenstance meeting when Bennett finds her unconscious in the woods near his home. She has memory loss, and can’t remember her accident at all as she regains her older memories. Sweet fall as both Delphine and Bennett fight their emotions for various reasons.
Some stilted writing, and some modern phrases of speech had me give a lower rating. Some interesting supporting characters that will I’m sure be other novels.

Surprising twists & turns

Continuation of the Lockwood Family series (though can be read as a stand alone) - this being Bennet’s story - the confident first-born son. Bennet discovers a woman alone & unconscious in the woods - what’s her story? It’s discovered that Delphine is a countess but can’t remember how she ended up in her current state of distress. Can Bennet & Delphine discover the truth? Who is to be trusted? A few twists & surprises - though I’m not really confident that many of the conversations & events would have actually taken place in the Regency era.

This author has so much potential! I have to put it down on the stars because the flow and believability isn’t there for me. I’ve noticed that the dialogue in these books tells the story without a lot of imagery and that makes everything feel contrived. I do love Bennett and have always enjoyed his character but I need more development overall from this author to be truly engrossed in the stories she tells. It took me quite a while to even figure out what the main characters looked like, both in this book and the previous one. Still loved the story line!

Just about Perfect! 4.75 stars

Beers gifts her readers a clean, sweet romance with a surprise twist. The first 62% was interesting and a bit predictable. Then the curtains opened and the real plot began. From that point it was hard to put down. Though I could guess the real outcome, the characters had me so invested in their lives I had to know ASAP their reaction to events as they unfolded. Also, the dinner with Delphine's neighbors was priceless.
I received this book free on promotion but I can recommend this book for any age as high entertainment reading - so enjoy!

Hero with humor

Finding a damsel in distress in the woods whil riding the young earl takes her home. The cast of his family characters is a delightful variety, his twin sisters add much to the story and Elodie as a great eavesdropper provides much commentary. A greedy neighbor, fake friend and awful cousin attempt to do away with the countess twice- but Bennet saves the day! Good read

Cute

While the narrative arc presented some challenges in terms of plausibility, the novel's underlying strengths emerged through its engaging character dynamics and polished presentation. The sisterly relationship provided a compelling narrative thread, and the technical execution demonstrated careful attention to detail. Despite potential plot-related reservations, the work's stylistic merits offer readers an enjoyable literary experience.
