Chloe

He’s Emerald Creek’s hot, wounded, and emotionally unavailable pub owner. My unforgettable one-night-stand with a stranger. And now, my business rival.

I should be able to handle that, right?
After all, I’m the strong woman who totally survived losing her job, being kicked out of her apartment, and finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman–all in one day.
What else could go wrong?
Meeting the perfect man, and having to walk away from him.
I keep my promise and slip out in the morning, never to see him again–until my cousins beg me to run their family’s restaurant after my uncle suddenly dies, and he’s the next-door pub owner.
Except now he inexplicably hates me, and wants me gone.
But this job is all I have.
I’m not going anywhere.

Justin
We had a deal: One night, no names, no numbers. She was smart, sexy, and beautiful-–the worst kind of trouble.

The mysterious woman I cradled through the night could have been the one, if I were that type of guy. The one I could change for. But I like it fine just the way I am. So when morning comes and she’s gone, I’m both devastated and relieved.
Until she appears in my hometown, on my doorstep, causing trouble to my business. She doesn’t seem to know it, but there’s literal bad blood between our families. I need her gone.
But everyone in Emerald Creek thinks differently, and even my dog plays matchmaker.
Falling for the enemy has never been so tempting.

“My rebound happens to be the owner of my Uncle’s restaurant I’m trying to fix and he hates me….”

⚡️ One Night Stand
💕 Enemies to lovers
☁️ Secrets

This book is a huge ball of romantic clichée and unrealistic dialog and reactions.

The blurb seemed so great, a classic romance about a one night stand and a tiny bit of enemies to lovers. The beginning was interesting. We followed mostly Chloe, who lost her boyfriend, her job and her apartment in less than 24 hours. Her boyfriend is obviously a tool who cheats and her and doesn’t even seems to care about her AND tell her to leave the apartment she’s paying (because I think he doesn’t have a job). This situation isn’t unheard of in romance novels but I didn’t know it could be that unreal ? The boyfriend, chloe… Her reaction to her SEEING her boyfriend cheating ?
After that it went okay. The meeting with Justin (the rebound), the restaurant… Again Chloe doesn’t have any backbone and she gets bullied by her Chef’s restaurant. Just after that she’s becoming best friends with literally every girl in that Small town… And let’s not talk about the third act drama because it was too much for me.

I feel like this book literally has all the markers for chick-lit. The job firing and then fiding her “true calling”, the awful ex boyfriend, the sex god rebound, the small town, the family drama, another family drama, the dog…. And it is too much for me. Drama is good. Drama in romance should be great ! In that book it just felt cringey… The dialog was cringey, Chloe and Justin were cringier… I mean, he’s suppose to be a player, no having any girlfriend and just living one night stand at the time… But 2 weeks after meeting that girl he told her he loved her and ask her to marry him ? nope not for me. I’ll stick with slow burn.

I’m rating it 3 stars for the potential it had. It could have been a great book with a little less storyline (like the baby thing which was honestly not necessary)

Oh boy Bella Rivers sure knows how to make a man sweat. We see a little about Justin in Christopher and Alex's story and seeing him now well is just mind blowing. Something in Justin's past has made him be who he is right now and Chloe is the right woman to turn his life around. All his life he has run around women, never one to stay more than one night he is about to see the one woman that well doesn't just stay a fling. Now right away you can tell their one night is going to be so much more yet we see Justin well afraid. Chloe is a woman that is like at a crossroads unsure what to do now that her life has blown up.The thing between them is that Chloe is ready for changes even though inside she is scared of defeat and Justin seems to be well stuck in the past. Seeing Chloe help Justin realize what happened years ago to move on was beautiful. I loved seeing Chloe go from not knowing how to run a restaurant to really wanting it to suceed seeing her hard work and determination. Justin definitely has no chance of just thinking these feelings for Chloe will remain platonic so much chemistry between them. All in all this Emerald Creek series by Bella Rivers is definitely a place you want to go and read about plus we still have Justin brother's coming soon can't wait.

Welcome back to Emerald Creek !

I was so excited for this 2nd book in the series, we got a peek at Justin, bar owner, in the first book and i couldn't put this one down.

Justin meets Chloe, his one nighter and expects it to be just that, one hot night. Nope, that's not how it went. Their connection was something neither of them expected, Chloe pulled on something that Justin had never felt before, the comfort he gave her, the emotions he felt were completely new..and scary! Justin isn't built for more, its one night, no names, no numbers. But of course, he wakes the next morning to find his CLOVER gone. And forgetting her wasn't as easy as he thought.....

Chloe is on a journey trying to find herself after breaking up with her cheating boyfriend and the death of her uncle when she suddenly finds herself thrown into helping her aunt sell her uncle's failing restaurant. First order of business, deal with the landlord who is owed back rent on the building the restaurant runs out of.

Surprise.... guess who the landlord is ????? Yep, the guy she can't stop thinking about after the hot night they shared. And boy, he certainly is not happy to see her!

The path these two take is a beautiful journey, from learning to be friends, to somewhat co-workers, then to more. There are deep seated secrets from Justins past that they must overcome, secret's that also involve Chloe's family.

I loved being back in Emerald Creek, the familiar characters from Never Let you Go, the banter, the friendship's, the found family.

Thank You again Bella for allowing me the pleasure of reading this ARC, you are smashing it !

Bring on Ethan !!

More 4 1/2 🌟 The Promise of You is an easy and enjoyable read set in the small town of Emerald Creek. This town is filled with loveable characters which you meet in book one in the series which I personally hadn’t read but had no problems following along. This one is Chloe and Justin’s story, a couple who both deserve a happy ever after. If you adore a rivals to lovers spicy small town romance then this one is for you. I received a complementary copy from a BookSirens.

A great small town romance, but personally not for me. The first half was great, but somehow the second half was a bit too cheesy and cringey for me.

2.5 ⭐

I liked this book a lot more than the first one:

1) For starters, Justin is so much better than Chris (I really thought Chris was an ass). Justin also acted like an ass sometimes, specially in the beginning but he apologized, SINCERELY (CHRISTOPHER, learn something).

2) In terms of female leads I liked Alex and Chloe the same and I they both really motivate me in terms of working.

3) There was so much communication (except that little end part) and it felt so good and refreshing.

4) It didn't feel as insta lovie as the 1st book even though this one started with a one night stand.

This book was very good and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

I was given an arc and this review and my thought are voluntary.

Let me start my review by thanking Bella Rivers and the publisher for allowing me to read this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. I am a little conflicted about this read and not sure where to start. Bella Rivers has a nice writing style, which made this an easy read. After a few chapters the storyline got interesting and I was hooked! However, one of the things that made me feel uncomfortable was how Chloe saw her insecurities and her needs as a weakness, this didn't change in the end and there was no growth in her character. I feel like this gives a wrong message to readers (especially girls and woman) who feel insecure about themselves. Chloe was a insecure woman at the beginning of the story, she finds her (ex)boyfriend cheating in her own bed and appartement, yet she does nothing to confront him about this because she hates confrontations. This was relatable, for I am also someone who has difficulties with confrontations, but at some point in the story I was just hoping for Chloe to get a backbone and speak up for herself. She should have spoken up when her mother sided with her ex, she should have spoken up when her family wanted something from her and yet also kept bothering her about this, she should have spoken up when the twist at the end happend (with Justin) and she should have spoken up when finding out the truth about her father and uncle. I just don't understand how there was no growth, no change in her personality. How can someone just accept everything that is happening without saying anything? She kept blaming herself, naming her insecurities a weakness and blaming herself for the mistakes and lies of others. It truly was upsetting, it also made me feel annoyed with the character for most of the time.

Another thing, was that Justin was cringy at times. He was written as a player with no interest in relationships, yet here he is confessing his love the minute he sees Chloe. It's just no believable, also he made me cringe when he kept saying how he couldn't love Chloe for what her family did... after a few times repeating this, it truly got annoying. He also named himself Chloe's hero but I don't really see much saving going on and also why should Chloe be saved? Can't she just save herself? I am a girl who loves the 'hero' trope, especially in romance but how amazing would it have been if Chloe, with all her insecurities, finally spoke up for herself and Justin was just there, smiling and applauding her for her bravery. Another thing was the unexpected twist in the end, with Justin's ex. This wasn't important to the storyline and I don't really understand why it had to be included in the storyline, especially during that moment in their relationship. Maybe the writer wanted to add in a twist that would keep the storyline going but it felt forced and it truly angered me how 'normal' everyone was acting, they accepted it with open arms and expected Chloe to just sit there and smile. Instead of speaking up about this, Chloe decided to run away. This should have been the moment that Chloe finally found her bravery, she should have told Justin about her feelings, how she wouldn't just sit there and accept what was going on because she already did that most of her life. Sadly, that didn't happen...

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒅:
• I love the small town vibes, it was well written.
• I was fangirling so hard when Justin saved Chloe from the chef!
• The drinks and food sounds so so good and I wish I could make them myself!

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒅:
• Justin confessing his love in the elevator was so out of character as he is introduced as the 'player' with no interest in relationships.
• Justin and his family acting 'normal' when the twist in the end happens made me feel so uncomfortable, it was unnecessary because there was already a lot going on and it did nothing to the story.
• Why did he wait so long before doing what he had to do, after the twist in the end, I mean why believe it so easily?

I'm over the top happy and smiling and just so feeling amazing after reading this one.

Absolutely Ecstatic to be back in Emerald Creek!!

After that tease at the end of book 1, I was so excited to read about the Town's Hot bartender next.
Justin has the most amazing one night stand and it's different and special because he connected with this woman in a way that he never has and yet they both part ways, without knowing personal details or any way to reconnect with each other.

Chloe that girl is such a sweetheart and I hated the back to back unfortunate things that happen to her but I was also equally awed at how fate worked mysteriously and the things we sometimes think are bad, are actually there to help us navigate to the real destination.

It was so much fun witnessing when these two come face to face with one another and in a way they so didn't expect at all.

But you can feel that connection and that intense chemistry right from the start, even when they are being rivals.

I absolutely loved watching Chloe spin her magic and bring life to her uncle's resturant which starts off as much as a dumpster place that people don't really like.
I loved how she truly understood the concept of connecting food and bringing the community together, inspite of her very own family not being much of a support.

Their banter was fun and their fighting their attraction to each other and hiding their spicy past was all the more fun to witness.

THE ONE SPECIALITY THAT MELTS ME IS THE PEOPLE OF EMERALD CREEK AND HOW WELCOMING AND HOSPITABLE AND HELPFUL THEY ARE.
I seriously felt like going inside the book myself and especially being part of the girl gang as they are so much fun.

All of the girls welcome Chloe and that made me feel so warm and happy for her as she's all alone in this new town and to have people genuinely in your corner is such a gift.

I feel Justin's character was written brilliantly because in spite of his indiscretions of the past yet you understand he's a man who's still suffering from the wounds of the past and has a good heart.

I suppose I can keep on blabbering non-stop about this book as I couldn't stop smiling and melting and rooting and living and feeling all the warmth and goodness this book brought me and made me feel a part of a town like Emerald Creek.
There were also times where I was frustrated, annoyed and overall being enthusiastic when things happened... Yeah I know, definitely an emotional spectrum this one made me feel.
I seriously can't have enough of this series.

Bella Rivers is undoubtedly one of my top favourite authors now and I'm not even gonna read the blurb in the future where her books are concerned and just pick them up blindly as I don't care what they are about because I know I'm gonna love them.
Such a huge fan now of Ms. Rivers for sure.

That tease at the ending about Ethan...oh my... I'm going over in my mind as to who could it be and I'm so over the top excited for his book next.

Just dive into this one without thinking if you're a fan of small town romances as this book will leave you a melted mess for sure and make you have an amazing time.
Absolutely loved loved this one.💗💗💗💗💗

I am so glad to be back in Emerald Creek! I was very intrigued by Justin in the first book, and was so excited to read his story in this one!

The Promise of You brought back the small town and its wonderful locals that I loved so much in Never Let You Go. I absolutely loved how the book opened with Chloe's extremely chaotic day, her trip to Boston, Chloe and Justin meeting, elevator heart to hearts between strangers, and so much more! There was so much to unpack in the first six chapters. Bella Rivers really draws you in with her extremely human characters and the multitude of layers that emerge from their conversations and innermost thoughts. The amount of scarring depicted, both literal and figurative, created a strong sense of vulnerability and has you turning page after page.

Even though emotions can be high at times, there is also so much humor in Emerald Creek. I loved the banter, the friendships, the relationships between Justin's family members, and everything that happens on Echoes (the town's social media platform). I also enjoyed learning a little more about all the women in town, and I'm so glad Cassandra is still doing her thing!

I really liked The Promise of You because of Chloe and Justin. They each had their own burden they were carrying, but they were amazing MCs who (mostly) were very open and communicative with each other. I loved seeing them let each other in as their walls started to crumble. Sure they had their moments, but I enjoyed reading about how they navigated all of the situations they encountered as they grew together. Without giving any spoilers, there was only one obstacle presented that I wasn't vibing with. To me, it just didn't seem to flow with the rest of the story other than adding some drama.

Even so, Justin was great male lead who took responsibility for his quick reactions and made Chloe feel like she had someone supporting her. And Chloe did the same for Justin. She took on his trauma and carried it with her. What happened in Boston definitely didn't stay in Boston - and thank goodness it didn't because Chloe and Justin were meant for each other! These two were vulnerable, dedicated (to each other and their goals), and so very kind, and I hope to see more of them in Emerald Creek #3!

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

It was supposed to be one night of fun, with no names, numbers or chances of seeing one another again... but she ended up being the one he couldn't forget. But how do you chase a girl with no way of contacting her or knowing her name?

The Promise of You is a captivating story of finding love, rediscovery, and healing. Neither one of these two were looking for love, but it unexpectedly found them, and now it won't let go.... even though they desperately want it to. Justin doesn't do relationships or forever's and Chloe just got burned by love so the idea of giving it another chance is a no-go. They try to just be friends, with a little enemies action mixed in here and there too, but it doesn't work... the heart wants what it wants. But the question is will they listen to what it is saying?

From beginning to end this well penned love story had me smiling and fully captivated. I loved watching these two test the bounds of their friendship and battle one another at every turn. Trying to stay in the friend zone was almost impossible for them, as the sparks bouncing around between them just could not be ignored. It was a battle they soon learned they would never win. This new to me author really knows how to create a love story that grabs ahold of you and doesn't let go, days after finishing this one and I am still thinking about these characters. I cannot wait to make another visit to Emerald Creek and disappear for a while! Highly recommend this one, these characters will steal your heart and attention the moment they wander onto the page!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

The Promise of You is a delightful small-town romance that captured my heart. As a fan of the Emerald Creek series, I was excited to dive into this second book and learn more about the town and its residents. While it can be read as a standalone, I think readers will get more enjoyment out of the story by reading the books in order.

The central romance between Chloe and Justin is the driving force of the plot. I loved the chemistry between these two characters and the way their relationship developed from a steamy one-night stand into something deeper. The author does an excellent job showing the push-and-pull of their feelings, with both Chloe and Justin fighting their growing attachment.

What I enjoyed most about the book was the way it handled the challenges Chloe and Justin faced. Their miscommunication and insecurities felt very real, and I appreciated that the author didn't gloss over the difficulties of starting a relationship. The themes of forgiveness and learning to trust again really resonated with me.

The supporting cast, including characters from the previous book, added a lot of color and humor to the story. I especially enjoyed getting to know Chloe's uncle and the other residents of Emerald Creek. The town itself felt like a character, with the author's vivid descriptions bringing it to life on the page.

While not perfect, The Promise of You is a charming, well-written romance that left me with a smile on my face. I would highly recommend it to fans of small-town love stories and the Emerald Creek series. I'm already looking forward to the next book!

Chloe is recuperating at Lake Champlain after losing her job and parting ways with her cheating ex. While there, she reconnects with family and ends up agreeing to manage her late uncle’s restaurant.

While on a short trip to Boston, Chloe meets Justin who is burdened by past regrets and adamant about avoiding commitment. Their chance encounter at a bar ignites a passionate night, where they both bare their souls despite being strangers.

Upon settling down in Emerald Creek to manage the restaurant, Chloe discovers Justin's unexpected role as her landlord, and the longstanding feud between him and her late uncle Kevin. Despite this, Chloe forms a bond with Justin's sister Haley, and also befriends many others in the small town.

Haunted by a lifetime of parental rejection, Chloe battles with her self-esteem, while Justin struggles to shake off the weight of past mistakes. The past incident between Chloe’s father, Kevin (her uncle) and Justin remains a stumbling block, preventing him from asking her out. However, he soon realises that Chloe is more than just a one night stand…

As their relationship deepens, Justin confronts his demons, seeking closure and redemption. However, his past resurfaces, threatening their newfound happiness and forcing Chloe to confront her own insecurities.

Despite the challenges, Justin overcomes his fears, finally finds closure and wins over Chloe for a satisfying end. I wished though that the focus was more on Justin overcoming his commitment issues rather than confronting his past mistake.

I want to start with the words that I'm not typically a light small town trope lover reader. I love my books hardcore. Sometimes I'm in a mood for something lighter, but I've done small town romances at a specific time and didn't think that the time I started "Never Let You Go" was the right for me to read that kind of book. But when I started it, I was completely mesmerized by the story and by the characters, and I just fell in love with everything.

So when I found out that "The Promise of You" will be published soon I knew I had to read it!
Bella Rivers' books bring this coziness, this peace and are quickly becoming one of my comfort reads. Her writing style here in "The Promise of You" is not different than what it was in her previous book - light, fast to read, detailed and with a little piece of magic in it, because I can't image someone writing so good without a hint of magic in it.

"The Promise of You" is interesting and kept me hooked from the very beginning. From the moment Justin appeared in "Never Let You Go" I wanted to know more about him and I'm so glad that this is his book. This book shows his and Chloe's beautiful story that goes from one-night-stand, through finding out their families can't stand one another, to being firstly friends and then lovers. Such a great path with so many tropes that guarantee a good story, which just can't bore you.

Chloe and Justin were amazing together and I loved every second of their story.
I can't wait for the next book in the series!.

Chloe and Justin met one night in a bar. They decided no names, no numbers, just one wild night. The next morning wen Justin woke up, Chloe was gone. And he regretted making the decision of no names. But when they come face to face again, Justin didn’t expect Chloe to be family of the man who runs the restaurant next door, a man who was making his life miserable… Getting her to forgive him after they reconnected is going to be a mission…

Chloe was not having a good time in her life now. She has no job, no place to stay and no boyfriend. Meeting Justin was just what she needed to take her mind off her life. Helping out her aunt after her uncle died, might be just what she needs to get her life back on track…

Chloe was the girl that didn’t cause drama, confrontations or anything. Her sister is always telling her stand up for herself and tell people how she feels. Justin is someone who doesn’t want anything permanent, his happy with his life. He had so much guilt to get over after a tragedy that happened when he was younger. But meeting Chloe might put him on the path of finding the one, settling down and being happy.

The story was great, these two had awesome chemistry. And I loved that Justin put his foot in it and had to do everything to make it up to her again. Loved the story, loved the characters, and totally loved Emerald Creek 😊

This. Book. Another freaking hit from Bella Rivers. It had me smiling, melting, and completely lost in the world of Emerald Creek again. From the very first chapter, I was hooked. Justin, the hot bartender we only got a glimpse of before, finally got his full story, and wow, it was worth the wait. His one night stand with Chloe was supposed to be just that. But of course, chemistry was too strong, the connection too deep, and I could feel it in every single page. Chloe was such a sweetheart, strong even when life kept throwing heartbreak and family struggles at her. I loved how she stepped up to help with her uncle’s failing restaurant and how she slowly poured her magic into it, turning something broken into something alive again. And then finding out Justin was the landlord? Please, please. That was everything. Their banter was fire. The way Emerald Creek wrapped around them felt so cozy and alive, from the supportive girl gang welcoming Chloe to the warmth of the community, it truly felt like coming back home since reading the first book. Justin’s character was written beautifully. he carried his past scars, but his good heart shined through, and watching him slowly let Chloe in was literally everything. I couldn’t stop flipping pages, sneaking in chapters whenever I could, and by the end I was so happy I didn’t want to end. This series is became such a conformt one. So freaking good. 5, no hesitation.

I loved Bella Rivers’ debut novel Never Let You Go so much that I was worried that her second book, The Promise of You might prove disappointing. Thankfully, this was absolutely not the case and 24 hours after finishing it I’m still buzzing with the story. So, what is it about Bella Rivers’ stories that makes them linger in my mind like a fine wine or an expensive perfume?

I think they are just more: more complex, more layered, more rounded, more engrossing.

Of course The Promise of You is essentially a love story. One with fantastic chemistry that develops and builds beautifully between two very likeable characters, but it’s also more than that. All the sizzling interaction developing between Chloe and Justin is mirrored by their personal growth as they face up to challenges in their businesses and interact with employees and family members. These secondary characters are also well-drawn, coming alive on the page and breathing life into the wonderful small-town world of Emerald Creek as they stand in the wings waiting for their own stories to be told.

This is a book that does more than tick the right boxes; it surprises and delights with unexpected twists that keep you turning the page to see what happens next. Highly recommended. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!.

This is the second book in this series and I just really love reading small town romance stories. They just have something that is so interesting to read about and the characters always seem to be very authentic but also relatable. I really loved the chemistry between Chloe & Justin and how they handled themselves throughout the story even though at times I wanted Chloe to be a little tougher, she powered through. Another great story and can't wait to see what happens next in this little town!

As everything seems to be going wrong in Chloe's life and with her uncle's passing, an opportunity arises that takes her to Emerald Creek. Trying to keep the business afloat, she does it the best way she knows how. After returning from Boston, Justin seems to be out of sorts but when he runs into the new owner of his restaurant, there seems to be something familiar about her. When their paths cross, they're both taken back to their one-night stand even though they want to keep it quiet; Chloe does whatever she can to stay out of his way. While Chloe's trying to figure out the restaurant and how to make it more profitable, the relationship between her and Justin's slowly changing but there are still a lot of secrets from their past waiting to resurface. Will everything work out in the end?...

The Promise of You by Bella Rivers is another small town romance in the Emerald Creek series by the author. Someone asked me do you need to read these in order, and the answer is no. You can read these books however you like as they can be read as a stand-alone book every time. I love Emerald Creek as y'all know and this next book is a fantastic read in the series also. The Promise of You follows Justin, a bar owner in town and Chloe who was tasked with reopening her deceased Uncle's restaurant in the town of Emerald Creek. However there is something Chloe did not know, which is there are months of back rent due and it is not doing well business wise. And to top it all off she owes that rent money to Justin who is her landlord and also a one night mistake she made before she moved to the town.
I loved the interactions between Justin and Chloe and love a small town romance as we all know:) But I also loved that it was a slow burn romance and not an instant love attraction thing, they both kind of hat each other after their one night and find out who they both are. That was entertaining. I love the nickname of Clover and also when Justin rescues her from the chef, that was my favorite part! I still have to say that the writing in these books is fantastic and if you have a soft spot for small town romances like I do, you will LOVE this book and the entire series!

The Promise of You is a first-rate lesson in being careful when you ask for something. You might get it, but will the results be what you wanted? Happy-go-lucky, loveable Justin is learning valuable lessons the hard way in more than one area of his life.

You can't always get what you want, as he finds out after that one-night stand. But, if you try, sometimes you just might get what you need. He's not happy when he has to try harder because that woman he decided might be "the one", left without notice, only to turn up a few days later, running the business next door to him.

Life isn't a picnic for Chloe either. Something is wrong with the restaurant she's trying to help her family get in shape to sell. The numbers don't add up, and although she's a business whiz, this side of things isn't in her wheelhouse.

This strangers-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers story will keep you wondering what's around the next bend on those winding roads of Emerald Creek.

Bella Rivers and The Promise of You deliver another heart-warming story that will satisfy your need to read a steamy, small-town romance. Read it now because the word on the
street is that Book Number 3 is being prepped for release.

“No one else’ll do, no one else can fill my heart, nourish my soul, give my life meaning. I’m a shadow of myself without you.”

Loving this series…book 2 is just as amazing as book 1. So many amazing tropes - enemies to lovers, rival business owners, and small town.

I loved the cameos from the characters in the first book. You don’t have to read them in order but I highly recommend reading the first book…because it’s amazing.

Chloe is a determined, strong and smart young woman. She hasn’t been put in an ideal situation however she does not back down from a challenge. Her family is less than supportive but she doesn’t let that stop her.

Justin is a shrewd businessman who wants the best for his community, his business and his family. He’s a hard working, caring and thoughtful man…but don’t mess with his business.

Chloe and Justin meet one another unexpectedly and the their worlds are turned upside with the realization of one another’s businesses. I love their fussing, banter, and overall dialogue. Their attraction is undeniable but both are holding back.

I love how patient Justin is with Chloe and how he helps her learn, discover and create her place within the community.

Can’t wait for the next book!

Just like the first book in this series, The Promise of You did not disappoint!!

Chloe's life was great, or so she thought...great job, stable relationship...on the up and up! Until it all went down the toilet...she's a people pleaser and hates confrontation. She a go-getter and I adore her!

Justin doesn't do relationships. He's strictly a one night stand man, no strings, no connections and never in his home town! He's carrying some demons and he doesn't believe he deserves true happiness. He's a community man, loves his family and his dog and loves to help people...he's also a bar owner with tatts 😍

I felt so many emotions reading this. Anticipation, excitement, bewilderment, anger, sadness, despair, happiness, shock, hunger, yearning, lust.....pure unadulterated lust!!! And I ate it up....this book has it all and the spice....let's just say, you get a few tingles 😉

Such a great read and it was easy to get lost in this story. I can't wait for the next one!!!

Book 2 of Emerald Creek!

Loved Justin and Chloe!!

Chloe thinking all was going right in her life! Great job and a great boyfriend! And then her life took a drastic turn and she ends up helping her family after her uncle’s passing, which takes her to a conference which takes her life in a whole new direction! 1 night… 1 night she was able to be “someone else” No name, no numbers and poof be gone so to speak… although after moving to a small town to help run her Aunt and Uncle’s restaurant and not being able to forgot that night…..

Justin was out of town helping his friend who was doing a cooking show (Chris from book 1) and was taking the night off and in need of a nightcap ;) and meets a stunning gal who’s faulty headphones let him in on a little secret and he’s ready to pounce!!

This story had me from the go!!

Can’t wait for the next book in the series!!!.

I'm fairly certain that this is my first book by Bella, and I just loved everything about it. Small town romances are one of my absolute favourite to read. The whole everyone knowing each other's business is as entertaining as it is frustrating. But with Justin & Chloe's story, it was the enemies to lovers' part that had me flipping through the pages just needing to know what was going to happen next. I'm probably the only person who wished the enemies part lasted longer, because to me the way Bell wrote the animosity between the two was outstanding. But as this is a romance novel,
obviously, they were going to cross over to being in a relationship. They had some obstacles thrown in their way, but I was excited that there was no third act break-up - which will make sense once you read both of their pasts.
Bella is now firmly on my radar, and I will definitely be reading whatever she releases next

Enjoyable:
It was wonderful being back in this small town with its unique and friendly inhabitants. Whilst it was the second book in the series, it could nevertheless be enjoyed as a standalone as the author did an amazing job of providing sufficient backstory.
I enjoyed the slow burn romance and whilst it took Chloe and Justin a long time to accept their feelings and move into a relationship, I nevertheless thought that the pacing felt right. I enjoyed seeing them work through their issues, however there was a bit more predictability with the story arc compared to the prior book. Whilst also a little unrealistic at times, it was nevertheless dreamy enough and provided a nice little escape.

[dnf @ 5%] the flow of the execution just felt off, doesn't flow smoothly.

“Gonna catch up with Fi,” I say, then go down the wooded path where Fiona disappeared. I find her throwing stones in the lake. then they had conversation blah blah blah, the heroine was saying about working for her father.
.
.
When our eyes water, Fi turns back to throwing stones in the lake, while I go back up to the house. “Rhonda is retiring at the end of the month,” is my father’s answer to my carefully worded opening about me having an interest in joining his firm. “Rhonda is your receptionist,” I answer stupidly.

something seems to be missing in between. like how she approach her father, or what did she said to her father etc. just suddenly got a reply from her father that his receptionist is retiring.

Not Just Neighbors!
Coming back to the small village of Emerald Creek where everybody knows everything about everybody else. Or do they? Some secrets are kept close. Justin and Cloe have met a week earlier anonymously and it takes some time and actions before they acknowledge their feelings for each other. And then more problems arise.
The sweet atmosphere of the first book is maintained, interactions between most characters (only a few are NOT included!) are so full of love for friends and family, it gives me a very warm feeling like being included as well. Loved to read this second book in the series <3

Chloe and Justin had the perfect night. No names. No strings attached. One night and never to see each other again. Until there’s a death in Chloe’s family and they ask her to help them run their family’s restaurant and the next-door pub owner happens to be Justin.

I enjoyed it up until the unexpected surprise happened, but of course, every book needs a little bit of drama.

This book was a bit slow burn. I really enjoyed their initial meeting in Boston. Their meeting after Boston, of course didn’t start off so well and I wasn’t sure how Justin was going to get her to forgive him. But them falling in love ended up being very sweet.

I can’t wait for the next book!!

The Promise of You is the 2nd book in the Emerald Creek series, but can easily be read as a standalone. There's more than one 'It's a small world' moment when the past collides with the present as Justin and Chloe navigate their road to a HEA. I loved the small town vibes, evisiting with the familiar figures from the previous book and the wonderful feeling of community and friendship as a backdrop to the romance. But no place is perfect and so they face their share of duplicity and mal intent, adding tension and interest to the story. The ending is very emotional and makes me look forward to returning to Emerald Creek soon!.

This series just gets better with every book. Chloe and Justin agree to share no names or phone numbers for their one night stand. But they both discover that they both share more than that one night.
Chloe agrees to manage her uncles’ restaurant in Emerald Creek due to being let go from her job. She discovers Justin is her landlord. As they eventually realize their feelings for one another, their relationship becomes stronger. But can Justin let go of his past and let Chloe know the whole truth? Can Chloe overcome her insecurities and hold onto her great love for Justin? Bella Rivers writes her characters with such insight. Forgiveness and love are so powerful in Justin and Chloe. One of the best books I have read this year. Can’t wait for the next one!

Starting Over Strong ❤️🥘🍻💙

This was a good one-night to more book.

Chloe and Justin meet at a perfect time, she’s running from her life and he’s looking to expand his. Even though they have a hot night together, their second meeting doesn’t go as well.

Justin had to learn to give a woman a chance. He’s never tried to connect emotionally. Chloe has to learn to trust again after a betrayal. I liked her strength.

I liked the mystery of how they were connected through her family and tragedy in his life.

Some OW drama, enough to make it interesting but not over the top.

I listened to it as well. The reader is AI generated. Not great, but not terrible. It was a good story to read, and listen ti when I wanted tu keep going.
