Bliss Bridal #1

The Plus One Professional

Rate this book
Wedding planner Bailey Bliss always knew she would plan her first love’s wedding. She just assumed she’d be the bride walking down the aisle to him. But it seems life has a sense of humor. Just when she thinks everything has fallen into place after her ex moves back to the Bay area, his gorgeous fiancée hires her to plan their Pinterest-worthy destination wedding.

Can you say plot twist?

The smart thing to do would be to cancel the contract. Unfortunately, the hopeless romantic, AKA glutton for punishment, in her can’t do that. She needs to see the man who she’s pined two decades for say ‘I do’ to someone else with her own eyes. But that doesn’t mean she has to witness the train wreck of her love life solo.

Professional plus-one Cole Crawford isn’t looking for happily ever after. Moonlighting as a date for hire is the totality of his social life. He doesn’t have any room for romance unless he’s getting paid for it. The problem is he has a no-intimacy policy in his professional life. That, combined with no time for a personal life, equals him living a monk-life existence.

No one has ever tempted him to break his rule except for the stunning green-eyed wedding planner who has become a fixture in his dreams, both waking and sleeping. When a twist of fate leaves his dream girl in need of his services, he knows the right thing to do would be to keep things professional. But that’s easier said than done when the wrong thing feels so right.

Author’s The Plus One Professional is a lust-at-first-sight, he falls first, reverse age-gap, fake relationship, one-bed, contemporary rom-com.

After reading Love in Fineprint and meeting the Bliss', I was happy to see that they are getting their own stories.
Bailey and her sisters inherited their wedding business from their grandmother and have made it their own. Bailey serves as the wedding coordinator because "she likes to plan party's".
While she is at several weddings, she spots the same man with several different woman. One at each different wedding. She knew he had to be a professional, but didn't know the why.
Simon has been a paid "Plus One" to many wedding dates and whatever he has needed to be at. He takes care of his ailing sister and her 3 kids and wants to become a contractor. For all of this, he needs to have money. So, his spare time is spent "dating" women.
At one of the weddings he spots Bailey and knew his heart would never be the same. Simon is color blind and once he saw her he started to dream in color. He knew that he had to know more about her.
They both were in long relationships, but neither was on the rebound.
Would they both give in to what their hearts were wanting?

Bailey and Cole’s love story in The Plus One Professional by Shawna Renae, book one in the Bliss Bridal series, is about family, the sacrifices one makes for them. This was a wonderful series starter about finding forever love for each of the Bliss Sisters: Billie, Bailey, and Birdie.

Bailey Bliss meets with all the potential brides, is the wedding planner, and solves all problems. For the past twenty years she has been in love with Simon, since they met as teens working at a Habitat for Humanity site. Their relationship has been convenient for Simon, on when he’s in town, off when he leaves to travel the world working for various companies. He has moved back to town, left messages for Bailey, saying they need to talk, leaving her wondering what he wants.

Cole Crawford works in construction and in order to earn extra money, to help his widowed sick sister with her meds, appointments and her three kids, he became a Plus One Professional. His sister, Sara, saved him from spending his teen years in foster care, so doing this job is the least he can do for her.

Bailey keeps seeing Cole at multiple weddings with different women, unaware that Cole is just a “plus-one” and has been attracted to her from the moment he saw her. Once she met him, the attraction blossoms, the chemistry sizzles, but he’s much younger than her, and she still has hopes for Simon. When Bailey finds herself in need of a “plus one” for Simon’s wedding, she knows Cole is the perfect man to help her. As the complicated circumstances become more complex, they will need to figure out if love can overcome their reverse age gap and fears. This steamy love story will captivate you and have you falling in love with this couple. The Bliss sisters and all the other characters in this book, grab you, leaving you wanting more; hopefully Billie’s story.

Bailey Bliss is a wedding planner who runs a boutique along with her three sisters. She is in her mid thirties hoping that one day, she will get her happily ever after. She has been waiting for Simon to get serious with her for 20 years. She hears he is on the way back to town again after living abroad for the last few years and is hoping that this is the year that they finally settle down together.

Cole is a caretaker. After a rough childhood, his sister Sara needs his help. She has various medical issues that is preventing her from being able to do everything on her own and needs him to step in to help her and her kids after her husband passed away. Cole moonlights as an Escort for weddings, funerals and other functions to help bring in some much needed cash for the family. While on a date, he sees Bailey is is instantly enamored though they don't officially meet for another year or so.

When Devon, a bride who walks into the boutique requesting that Bailey plan her wedding in less than a month, walks into the boutique for her planning session with her fiancé Matty, who just so happens to be Simon, Bailey is shocked. Simon proceeds to invite her and her sisters to the wedding as guests, not as the wedding planner. Bailey turns to Cole so that she doesn't have to go alone.

I liked the overall story and the lead up teaser for the next one was spot on making me anxiously wanting more. Simon was a spoiled brat of a man and I am glad that Bailey chose not to down that road. Sara and her kids were a great addition and I love how their story played out though I would be interested in seeing Sara get her 2nd HEA.

So excited for the continuation of these characters! After meeting the Bliss sisters in Olivia’s book, I was so excited that Shawna decided to give them their own books, and she did not disappoint! Bailey has spent the past twenty years in an on-and-off relationship with her high school sweetheart, and while she always thinks she will end up with him because he always comes back around, all that changes when she is hired to plan his wedding and blindsided by the fact that he’s moved on. The only other person she’s ever been attracted to is a guy that she’s seen at various weddings she has planned over the past two years, and thanks to Olivia’s business partner, they actually have a conversation and get in each other’s heads even more. Cole is a date-for-hire while he works to help his sister take care of her kids, and herself, and work in construction by day. Feeling that she has no other choice, she reaches out to Cole to see if she can hire him to be her date for her ex’s wedding, and he obliges, deciding this is the chance he needs to get to know her and potentially start something. There were a lot of barriers for this couple, such as the ex-significant others as well as the fears they each have and the age gap between them, but in the end after some misunderstandings they are able to get the HEA they deserve! Can’t wait to see what comes next with the other two Bliss sisters!

A throughly lovely slow burn. Even though Bailey and Cole’s attraction was almost instant they both had reasons to hold back and not act on impulse. A friendship and partnership was forged along with the attraction. And boy when they let attraction take over it was really hot.

Cole has a lot of responsibilities and doesn’t want Bailey to feel neglected or not important when he had to put his sister and her kids first so he’s reluctant to start a relationship, but no matter how hard he tries he can’t stay away from the Bliss sister, the woman who makes him dream in colour.

However, as Cole soon comes to realise, Bailey has enough love to include his whole family and also work to make them a priority. That seals the deal for him and he works so hard to convince Bailey they are meant to be together.

A great read with some old familiar faces which made it even better.

Bailey and her two sisters owned a bridal boutique where Bailey was a wedding planner. I felt bad for Bailey who had been in love with Simon since she was younger and now 20 years later she is planning his wedding. I really disliked Simon’s fiancée, and did not like Simon. It was crazy how Bailey was attracted to a handsome man that came to many weddings she planned. Of course she did not think he was a good guy because he was usually with a different woman. That is until she found out he was a professional plus one and needed to hire him. Cole was such a wonderful man who did all he could to help his widow sister who had three children and was very sick. I loved the two together and my heart went out to them several times. I strongly encourage you to read the book.

Bailey and Cole, true bliss?

This was a great book. Cole, plus one professional, and Bailey, wedding event coordinator have been kinda dancing around each other. They both develop secret crushes on each other from seeing and running into each other at weddings. The problem is she's hung up on another guy, and he has too many things in his life for a relationship.
When Bailey needs a date for her ex's wedding, she tries to hire Cole. He agrees to go, but as a real date, not as a hired one.
Insta sparks, great rapport, interesting secondary characters, and more. Tropes are awesome as well: reverse age gap is the best.

another amazing read

This was such a great book. Cole a professional plus one has been to multiple events and weddings. Bailey is a wedding planner and has seen Cole at multiple weddings with different women. Thinking he was just a player she wrote him off. That was until she found out and needed a plus one. These two have serious chemistry. This is a reverse age gap which usually I do not care for but Cole was so mature. Great read

I have fallen in love with this new series. Bailey and Cole start us off. These two were perfect for each other although it takes them sometime to come to that conclusion. Bailey needs to let go of what she thinks she wants and see what is right in front of her. Their story was entertaining, frustrating, funny and so much more. I am really looking forward to book two in this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nothing But A Number

Cole was one sexy young man. He was sexy not only in my mind but also in his mannerisms in this book. He captured Bailey eyes just as fast as she captured his.

Their meet cute and chance opportunity was wonderful and spicy to read.

Was a little skeptical at first with the title, but WOW was I wrong. I absolutely love Cole. Such a strong, loving young man. He has a heart of gold and Bailey was lucky to find him. Bailey was sweet but was stuck in her past. Enjoyed their journey so much. Looking forward to Billie’s story.❤️❤️

Fun and crazy! Shawna Renae is one of the few that can make me forget I’m reading in first person. Bailey is a no nonsense master of weddings, until it comes to her ex’s unexpected nuptials. Cole falls fast (although over quite a few weddings) even if she is ten plus years older. Coincidences abound!

The Plus One Professional

I’m not going to lie I had no idea what “plus one professional” meant when I picked up this book. Shawna Renae is an automatic read for me so I happily downloaded it. I loved this story - I loved the premise & Cole & Bailey. I got very caught up in the characters and the supporting cast around them. The story was well written & fun.

I loved Bailey and Cole’s story. Bailey was convinced she was going to marry her high school sweetheart until his fiancé walked into Bliss Bridal and hired Bailey to be their wedding planner. Cole was a professional plus one and had too many family responsibilities to entertain a relationship. Until Bailey hires him to be her plus one to her high school sweetheart’s wedding. Cue the fireworks….
I can’t wait for the next Bliss sister’s story. If you enjoy Shawna’s writing as much as I do, this book is a must read! You won’t be disappointed!

This is the first story in the author’s new series about three sisters, each one a professional in their own right ,who inherited their grandmother’s business and home. Now brought up to the twenty-first century, they have a thriving business.
Middle sister Bailey Bliss is the wedding planner and solver of all problems. She’s also the one who has been in love with Simon for the past twenty years. Their on again , off again relationship seems to be turning back to on again, as he moves back in town.
Meanwhile, Cole Crawford, works in construction and to earn extra money to help his widowed sick sister with her meds, appointments and her three kids , he now is a Plus One Professional. His sister was the one that saved him from spending his teen years in foster care, so doing this job is the least he can do for her.
Bailey keeps on seeing him in the weddings she plans and is unaware that Cole has been inthralled by her from the moment he saw her. Once she met him, the attraction seems to blossom, but he’s much younger than her, and she still has hopes for Simon.
When due to unexpected circumstances Bailey finds herself in need of a “plus one”, Cole is the man for it.
From then on the complicated circumstances get even more complex. In the end, will they allow their past, his age, and fear keep them apart?
This was a story about family and the sacrifices made for them . It’s also a story about finding love and maybe a new life when one least expects it.
This reader has a confession. I had a hard time “getting “ into the book and almost stopped 1/4 of the way in. Why? Because I, like many , have a hard time accepting a younger man and an older woman as a couple. Ironic, since personally, my parents age difference was my “norm”. He was 17 years older than her.
So if like me, you have doubts, don’t hesitate to give the story a try. It’s filled with heart as do all the stories by this author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

So excited for this new Bliss Bridal series. Love Bailey and Cole also known as CJ. Cole is a plus one professional when someone needs a plus one for a wedding and Bailey is a wedding planner with her sisters at Bliss Bridal. They’ve seen each other at quite a few weddings and at one they finally meet and introductions are made. Bridal Bliss has a new client and surprise, surprise it’s Bailey’s ex and his fiance. Her ex wants her and her sisters to attend as guests and not work at the event which his fiance isn’t a fan. Bailey decides to hire Cole to be her plus one at the event. This is the start of them being together. Unfortunately, things happen at the wedding which isn’t good and Cole also unexpectedly has to head home because of a family issue. When he drops Bailey off, her ex who was just married the day before is standing there waiting for her. That creates an awkward situation with Cole/CJ and when he gets home to sort out the problem that brought him back to town, his ex is there visiting with his sister. Talk about a reality check for both of them. When his sister ends up in the hospital and Olivia also ends up in the hospital to have her baby, their paths cross again and they are able to get together and talk. I was beyond excited with seeing Olivia and Trevor again and of course Sadie and the Alex shout out and of course, how can you not love the cats that Bailey has and their names were too perfect. Loved that this book was a circle of it’s a small world with all the connections between all the characters. I also loved the Aerosmith reference as well. I was thrilled for Sara and her news that will make her life and in turn Cole’s life way easier than it is now. Definitely an interesting development at the end of the story with Adam moving to town who has a past with Billie. Can’t wait for the next story in this series.

This was such a beautiful story. The love Cole has for his family and the way he puts them before anything else is a quality women wish all men had. The chemistry between Cole and Bailey was outstanding as well as the trust and admiration they have for each other.
Cole is handsome and incredibly sexy. He is also sweet, passionate and dedicated to his family. During the day he works construction and at night he works as a Plus One Professional. It works perfectly for him since he makes the extra money, he needs to help take care of his ill sister and his niece and twin nephews. It also works for him as he gets to date without the pressure of a relationship that he doesn’t feel he can have right now or in the foreseeable future because of his family obligations.
Bailey is a beautiful woman and the wedding planner at her, and her sisters place called Bliss Bridal. Bailey thinks the on and off relationship she has with a man for over 20 years is the relationship that will turn into a wedding and a family. Too bad it’s not going to be her wedding.
When Bailey is hired to plan the wedding of her ex-Simon, Simon lets Bailey know that he wants her and her sisters there as guests so they can plan the wedding but day of the are guests only. Bailey decides to hire Cole, so she doesn’t show up to the wedding alone. Bailey doesn’t expect anything from Cole other than him to accompany her there and pretend to be her boyfriend. Fortunately, Cole has other plans. This is one weekend that will change both of their lives for the better.
There are a couple surprises that make the read even better. This is a must read!!!

Bailey Bliss is runs a boutique along side her sisters Billie and Birdie. She is the wedding planner and has had visions of planning her own Happily Ever After. After all, she has been in love with Simon for the past 20 years. He has been busy traveling for his job and they see one another when they are able when he is passing through. He's now moved back and has been trying to reach Bailey.

Cole Crawford is a construction worker, but to make some extra cash, he works as a "Plus One Professional" as people's dates to events, weddings, whatever they might need. He does this to help out his sister, who helped keep him out of the foster care system when he was a teenager.

Cole and Bailey see one another at various weddings and of course Bailey keeps seeing him with multiple different women. She doesn't know that it is part of his job and that he really has been attracted to her since the first time he saw her. Bailey struggles with the fact that Cole is much younger than she is, but when she's in need of a "plus one" to Simon's wedding, it's Cole to the rescue. When things get real between Cole and Bailey, will they be able to fight the obvious chemistry?

There is so much to love about the start to this series! The Bliss sisters are fantastic and the other supporting characters are wonderful too. I'm excited to see what is yet to come in the remainder of this series!

Wedding planner Bailey Bliss has been in love with Simon for over 20+ years. Though they have been in an on again off again relationship all this time, that was more off than on. And now he is back in town engaged and his fiancee hires Bailey to plan the wedding.
Cole Crawford works in construction and works as a professional plus one for extra money. Bailey and Cole keep seeing each other at different weddings and can feel the connection, but have managed to maintain distance. That is until Bailey asks Cole to go with her as her plus one for Simon’s wedding.
I enjoyed this book so much that I didn’t want it to end. TBH I don’t normally enjoy age gap reads, but Cole was so much more mature than his age and their romance was so beautiful that the age gap didn’t really matter. This is the first book in the Bliss Bridal series, but there was a mention of characters from previous books that I really enjoyed.
A book not to be missed !

This is the first book in a new series about the Bliss sisters and the legacy left by their grandma – their business and the family home. Baily Bliss is the middle sister, the one who manages the day of wedding for brides as an offshoot of their family’s bridal dress business. Cole Crawford is doing all he can to keep his family (his sister and her kids) afloat between his construction work and the business he started being a “Plus One Professional”. Baily and Cole’s paths had crossed at multiple wedding receptions and they couldn’t help but notice each other. However Baily was holding out hope that her long-time “drop in” boyfriend Simon was coming back to town for her. When Baily realizes she now needs a Plus One, she needs Cole’s help. Their story is about family, love and overcoming obstacles. I can’t wait to read about Baily’s sisters next. What a great book!

This is the story I needed right now! This couple is everything. Bailey and Cole are everything good. Their journey is not a straight line with no bumps, but it is also so incredibly sweet and romantic. The author brings us right in there with them, to see what they see, to feel what they feel, to root for them and cry with them and swoon with and for them. Everything and everyone in this story is completely alive and present and I love it. I've read the other books in this world and love them all. They really should be linked somehow, so readers don't miss out and don't realise which books are in the same world (even though they are not directly connected, but I just love it anyway). Now I have a bit of a book hangover and can't wait to see what's next. And I also hope that Cole's sister gets her own book and then her kids down the line… Just saying… ;)

This was a good story! Besides getting to know Bailey and Coke you get to see some other familiar faces too.
Bailey Bliss runs an all in one wedding get up with her sisters. She has been in love with the same guy since she was in school. The thing is, she’s not really sure what he thinks or feels, it’s more a on and off relationship but she’s still waiting for him. Then she meets a bride and you guessed it the groom is the guy she’s been waiting for! She takes the job but should she really?
Cole is there to help some women who need a plus one for a fee. It’s his job but he keeps it professional. He has noticed Bailey at some of the weddings but he’s not prepared for Bailey to hire him. What can go wrong? He’s being paid to go and hang out with her? Can he open up and tell her about his secrets? Can Bailey let the ex go and move on?

DNF - quit at 12%
I really hated the FMC because she was so oblivious to her ex using/stringing her a long for way too long, she’s 38, making it more than 20+ years of stringing her a long (since high school I think)! If it had only been a few years, I might have given this a chance & kept going, but she’s basically TSTL. I never really developed any thoughts on the MMC, more than “poor bastard”, for his tough life situation. It wasn’t enough to make me want to continue, & the ex hadn’t even appeared in the story yet. Not a great way to start out a story to pull a reader in & want to keep reading.

At my age (62), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

The Plus One Professional by Shawna Renae is a lovely story with all of the feels. Reverse age gap for some spice and the Bliss Sisters for some fun.

Bailey Bliss is the middle Bliss sister and is the wedding planner part of the Bliss Sister's business.

Cole Crawford is a professional plus one. He gets along with pretty much everyone and has a somewhat complicated family situation, which has pretty much put his love life on hold.

I absolutely loved this story and the continuing world that Shawna Renae is building in her novels. Cole and Bailey's characters are everything, and I cannot wait for the other Bliss sister's stories!

Cole is definitely a plus!

While I didn’t love this book as much as her others it was still a good read! My one caveat is I could not find a single fault with Cole (unless communication counts), but he felt TOO perfect on paper and it was hard to see him as anything else. I know stories aren’t realistic but this was a little too outside the realm for me. As much as I loved him for Bailey and how he was with Sara and the kids. I couldn’t find one flaw that would make him human. The fact that a thirty six year old woman also couldn’t communicate was a bit annoying. Overall easy fast read and HEA. Would overall recommend as a palette cleanser for those darker reads.

I absolutely loved this book!

Bailey and Cole have great chemistry and I loved their banter!

Bailey is in need of Cole when she's planning her first love's wedding. Cole never makes his dates personal and never gets intimate with them but there's something about Bailey he can't resist. Soon these two are falling for each other and there's no turning back.

I was rooting for this couple from the very beginning and I couldn't put the book down once I started.

I can't wait to see what comes next in this series!
