With this new sixteenth edition, “Abnormal Psychology” is dropped from the title. The importance of stigma and mental illness is discussed throughout—never is this more important than now when many social ills such as gun violence are too easily blamed on mental illness while we continue to warehouse people with psychological disorders in jails at an astonishing rate.

This was required reading for grad school. This book goes into detail about the diagnosis in the DSM-5-TR and gives information about medication and counseling theories that can be used to treat them.

Helped make the DSM more understandable but there were a lot of worldview presuppositions from the authors that I thought were incorrect

The topics are inherently interesting, but the text was unnecessarily long at times, and the quizzes had some mistakes.
