AUTUMN' S FALL is the fourth book in the Autumn Trent Series by Mary Stone and they just keep get better. Ms. Stone again shows her aptitude to write fast-paced, page turning thrillers. Her world and character building are superb and will draw you right into the story -- leaving you feeling like you are part of the action.
The BAU Team, especially Autumn, is still reeling from the death/murder of Aiden. Autumn determined to find who is responsible and make them pay. Really upsetting the team is their new BAU SAC. He lacks any compassion for their loss and is a by-the-book micro-manager making for a toxic work environment.
First though, the BAU team has been asked to help locate and apprehend a young woman who has escaped the nearby Psychiatric asylum. The team is told she's not dangerous, but the BAU profile indicates she could be very dangerous with a body found and a woman missing.
This is an intense and sad story of a child with problems that was turned into a soulless killer.
Another must read! I can't hardly wait for the next book in the series. Everything I read by this author is right at the top of be charts. If you love chilling thrillers, start with the Winter Black series.
I did received an advance copy of Autumn's Fall and this is my freely given and honest review.
Autumn's Fall is Book Thirteen in the Autumn Trent Series (Autumn Trent: Season Two #4) by Mary Stone. This series is a gripping blend of psychological suspense, crime & investigation, and deeply human storytelling. We follow FBI Special Agent and forensic psychologist Autumn Trent, a woman whose own traumatic past fuels her relentless pursuit of justice. Ms. Stone cleverly weaves high-stakes criminal cases with plenty of emotional depth. Autumn isn’t just a crime solver; she’s a survivor who is navigating grief, moral dilemmas, and the complexities of human behavior. Each book layers intense investigations with more personal stakes, making us (readers) feel both the adrenaline of the chase as well as the weight of the consequences. Ms. Stone’s villains are chillingly believable, and the psychological profiling elements also added a fascinating dimension for us readers who enjoy the ‘why’ behind the crime as much as the ‘who’. Fans of character-driven thrillers will appreciate how Autumn’s relationships - with colleagues, friends, and even antagonists - evolve across the series, giving it a strong emotional core. Perfect for readers who enjoy crime thrillers with a smart, resilient heroine and a mix of heart-pounding action and psychological intrigue. Happy Reading…
What a fast and dangerous ride this book will take you on!
The funeral for Aiden brought in some of the people from previous stories and books. Autumn's best friend Winter and her husband Noah flew in from Texas to be there. Autumn is hurting too bad to want comfort from all of her friends. She's having so much trouble dealing with her own emotions, if she touched anyone else, their grief would just magnify her own. But she only takes a couple of days off before returning to work. Little did she know the SSA Agent that has taken Aiden's place has turned out to be a stone cold boss. He puts everyone on a tight leash and treats them like they don't know how to do their jobs. Things will have to change to find this escaped mental patient in time to save her hostages. We also find that Sun Ming just might have some thoughtful moments hidden behind her tough outer shell! Although this story is pretty intense, it's worth the read.
This case will really make you think about psychological treatments. An insane doctor took a child with problems and turned them into a heartless killer. In the midst of losing Aiden the team is summoned to work on a new case. The new BAU Supervisory Agent in Charge is a real piece of work. He lacks compassion and wants to micro-manage every aspect of the agents lives. He asserts his authority at every possible moment and is driving these professional agents like a task manager. Add to that they have a very troubling case of a killer who is leaving a trail of bodies. The case is intriguing, and the trail is difficult to follow. This book will hold your attention and keep you guessing. Great read.
This is another great ARC read from Mary Stone and her co author. Autumn is still reeling from the death of Aiden, her boyfriend and boss, when she decides to return to work. Things are so different now, there is a new BAU head and everyone is having a hard time adjusting. Then they get the call about the escape of a mental patient who had burned her family to death in a house fire. They find out she has taken a couple captive, after they find the husband dead. The race is on for them to find out why after 10 years she escaped, what is she after, and can they find her before others go missing or even worse killed. Autumn and the rest of the BAU are trying to function under the new leader and deal with Aiden's death, can they get the job done.
Autumn is trying to deal with the death of Aiden, so she pushes herself back to work just a couple of days after his funeral. There is a new man in charge of the BAU crew, and he is lacking in empathy and definitely micro manages every detail. They receive a request to help out with the escape of a woman from a psychiatric hospital, who is claimed to not be a threat. However, after a dead body turns up, they begin a deep search into this patient's background to determine what is her story. Not only is Autumn's breakdown in front of Sun just heartbreaking, the information they uncover on the escapee is also amazingly sad. This was an excellent book and can't wait to see what happens in the next story with Winter back in Autumn's life.
You would think, that Heartbreaking loss and anguish bring Autumn down on her knees. But tortured and sleepless Autumn is not only gorgeous and brilliant, but strong and not ease to be destroyed. New bureaucratic SSA, psycho on the run, killing and destroying anybody in its way cannot stop her . Omg , what a crazy, intense and psychological drama this book takes you through, including workplace that reminds you of the real everyday life. I could not stop and had to finish. Poor Autumn. Mary really puts her heroes through the wringer lol.. exceptionally good. Bravo. I cannot wait for the next book, especially after the cliff hanger.
No one can console Autumn, her loss was too great. To pick herself up, move on, keep busy and dreams that will haunt her, was the greatest feat Autumn could do. My heart broken reading Autumns Fall. I have loved Autumn and her story, I will continue wanting to know how she is but with a sadness that I understand. Having lost in the last 4 years 8 people I have loved, I can understand the heartbreak Autumn is facing. I enjoy Autumn's story and hope for a new beginning or should I say an old beginning with a new outlook. I love all of Mary Stone's books and the Series she writes with the idea of sharing with us the up's and down's.
Words said in repetition are still just words. Regression can lead to getting stuck in pain and be the cause of the death of many innocents. Wow another page turner. I almost slipped and ruined the ending for those who have not had the pleasure of reading this yet . yes this sometimes very messy book has twists and turns to keep you interested and maybe learning more about mental health especially in children and family dynamics. Another great book, e been joy!!
In my opinion, Mary Stone is an excellent writer. This story kept me involved and made me want to keep reading. Autumn has just lost the love of her life and is still reeling from his loss. The BAU team has a new leader and he's nothing like Aiden. They are hunting for Tulip who has mental problems and is killing people. The story goes in multiple directions and leaves you with questions at the end. If you're invested in this series, you don't want to miss this one.
Autumn is still reeling from the death/murder of Aiden. She is confident on who is responsible and is determined to make them pay. Meanwhile Richmond Police has asked the BAU team to help locate and apprehend a young woman who has escaped from a nearby Psych Ward. Records indicate she isn’t dangerous. After countless interviews the team builds a profile that infers she is dangerous and the hunt begin, but will they find her before she adds to the death count?
In Autumn’s Fall Mary Stone was able to capture Autumn’s grief at the murder of SAA Aiden Parrish, also her lover, in a very palpable way! Her writing is so realistic I felt my heart fill with grief too! Mary Stone always pits Autumn and the FBI team against the most villainous killers. The one in this story is particularly evil and creepy! The story will keep you reading for hours at a time. It is very hard to put down and very satisfying when Autumn and team get their killer!
Right after Autumn has a tragedy in her life, she insists on going back to work & is thrust into a case using her expertise as a psychiatrist. A young woman escapes from a mental ward & is on a downward path of destruction to herself & others. As the team investigates, they learn the patient wasn’t helped at the mental hospitals but instead made into a monster. Can Autumn help her & save lives of others. A fast paced read that won’t disappoint.
How does Mary Stone do it another great book in Autumn Trents saga. Her boyfriend is dead and she saw the whole thing. Just getting back to work and now has a tough case to handle. Now she gets a new boss that plays by the book and all she thinks about Aiden her boyfriend. Her team helps her to try to get over this but the only one that might help her is Winter Black her friend.
Just a few days after Aidan's funeral Autumn decides to return to work to avoid dealing with her grief. A case immediately lands in the teams lap with a new SSA at the helm. He is 180% different from Aiden and not going to win any popularity contests. Tulip, a mental health patient, stuck in childhood escapes a psych. ward and is murdering people. She loves having tea parties, being the host and having perfect guest attend. Is she really childlike or is she playing a game? Great novel!
Grief has no ending. Just ask Autumn as she tries to get back to work after her life was upended. But is it the best thing? There is a new SSA and he’s definitely not Aiden. She, along with the rest of the crew, are sent out to help track down a young mentally ill woman who has murdered. Can they get her before she murders again, and at what cost?
You can't go wrong reading an Autumn Trent book and Mary Stone did not disappoint with this next book. It's an edge of your seat page turner that you won't want to put down until you reach the end. A great read. Can't until the next book in the series especially after the cliffhanger ending. I am an ARC member, and this is my honest opinion.
How is she to go on without Aiden? By getting back to work, and butting heads with the SSA who has just moved in and taken over without one ounce of empathy for her and her teammates. There is also a new teammate to replace Bree. He's not so bad! This new case will keep her mind occupied for a little while, maybe.
Its very sad that Aiden Parrish was murdered and understood that Autumn wishes she had stopped him from leaving. There is a new SSA for BAU named Gil Mullins, he's A controlling person and micro manages and has no personality, trust or compassion but Autumn, Sun, Heaton and the new guy Rome manage to solve the case anyway. Love this author and her stories.
Aiden was dead. Autumn returned to work and met the new SSA along with the new member of their team. SSA Madden. Roman the new member of the team agreed with the others. The SSA showed no feelings in their interactions and demanded every move of the team must go through him. Their first case together is a doosey.
Autumn's Fall(Autumn Trent Series Season Two Book 4)
OMG!!!!!! This book was amazingly sad, scary and disturbing. They say that Adian is dead, I am not sure I believe it, yet. The new SSA is not presenting himself very well, no one on the team seem to like him, not even the new guy. I can't wait to read the next book.
ANOTHER GREAT READ IN THIS SERIES. THE STORYLINE IS ORIGINAL AND GRABS YOU AND WON'T LET GO TILL THE END. PLENTY OF TWISTS AND TURNS TO KEEP YOU TURNING PAGES TILL THE END. WELL WRITTEN WITH GREAT CHARACTERS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THE OTHERS IN THE SERIES.
This is the fourth book in the Autumn Trent series Season Two. This one, as always, pulled me in right away. It’s an edge of your seat, page turner. Fast paced and full of drama and suspense. I can’t wait to read the next one!
Absolutely loved it. I want more all the time. I’m hoping there is another book to follow. Keep theme coming. Thank you for doing so. I always want more. I love reading these. Please don’t put an end to this last one.
Loved this book. I could not put it down. It had lots of suspense and intrigue. Can't wait for the next bok. I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend this book and series. Was glad to hear from Winter.
These continuous stories with Winter and all the FBI are so great. The personalities and drama in their lives along with the crime solving situations, really keep the intriguing story alive.
Another splendid Mary Stone (Autumn) novel! I’ve been so tense that my stomach muscles are hurting! So looking forward to the next of Autumn Trent’s intense investigating cases.
This was so sad to read the final way this girl turned out so bad.it just kept jumping b from killing to killing.just goes to show you that all doctors aren't what they promised to do and how they operate.keep up the story line
Mary Stone and this Autumn Trent Series Two Book 4 was another one that has taken us on many twists and turns! Trying to put pieces together on what will happen next and how will it end. So now to the next book!
