One actress

One single dad

And one nativity in need of a wise man

Harriet Edwards, the nation’s serial drama sweetheart, is about to lose the only acting role she’s ever known. Heartbroken and uncertain over her future, hiding away from the press in a country cottage seems like the perfect solution, until she finds herself roped into the local nativity by the newest and hottest wise man in the village.

Reverend’s son, Adam Harris is no stranger to the church nativity, in fact, he’s managed to avoid it his whole life, but when the cast find themselves one wise man down, he reluctantly steps up. Remembering a few lines should be easy, but the woman he’s crushed hard on ever since he saw her on TV, has just dramatically descended into his life, throwing his confirmed single dad status into question.

As the nativity hots up so does their attraction, leaving any hope of remaining professional virtually impossible. But as Harriet frets over her career and Adam dwells on the past, they soon realise that keeping their relationship out of the spotlight is easier said than done.

This was my first but not my last read by Louise Hudson.

The MMC, Adam was so easy to love. He was kind of down with the twists & turns of life. A single dad of twin girls who he cherished.

The FMC, Harriet was a beautiful character as well. Not sure what she wants next in life so it is perfect that she meets Adam and the two of them become each other's cheer team. Showing each other the good they see in the other.

Gabriel & Penny both made me laugh throughout.

I fell in love with this book from the beginning but the ending was my favorite part.

I read this as an ARC read. This is my first book from this author, and I was not disappointed.

Harriet, a prime time tv sweetheart finds herself being axed from her show, so she decides to hideout in a quiet, quaint village for Christmas. She gets roped into helping with the local nativity and catches the eye of Adam - who has had a crush on her for years.

Adam is lovable, cute and fanboys over Harriet. His bumbling shyness is adorable, and his twin girls are even cuter with their open minds and childlike wit.

This is a heartwarming Christmas story, with laughs, banter, attraction and spice. This is part of a series, the second book after Away with a Stranger, but can be read as a standalone.

Beautifully written by Louise Hudson

There's just something about Christmas novels, particularly the ones I've read lately (or it could be my love for the season projecting but still) and Gold, Frankincense and Her did NOT disappoint. First off, the title??! Can I take a moment to give a shout-out to Mr. H (the author's fiance/maybe-husband-now) for his creativity!

The next shout-out goes to the author, Louise Hudson, for crafting such beautiful characters. Adam was just so lovable and adorable with his shyness and bumbling awkwardness (I wish I was) plus for his love for his twin girls, who are just so witty and adorable, and Harriet was the perfect woman to balance Adam out.

In fact, they balanced each other out. They were perfect for each other. Adam was feeling out of depth with the whole dating world and Harriet was feeling sorta purposeless after being axed from a show she's been a part of for years, what better cure is there for these two than some Christmas serendipity in the form of finding one another.

This was such a feel-good book with the laughs, the family banter and not to mention, the spice. Do not be fooled by the cute cover, lol, there are both cute and not-so-cute contents. But all in all, I LOVED them all and it's safe to say that I'll be on the lookout for Louise Hudson's next work. This is my first of hers but hopefully not the last. 🫶🏽✨❄️

this was such a nice & cozy little novel! i really loved the immediate vibes between Adam & Harriet, i was rooting for them since the second they met. Adam was so nervous in the beginning, it was adorable. it didn’t last long tho. this was a quick read for me & i thoroughly enjoyed all the warm christmas romance feels it had to it. it had a little spice but it wasn’t overpowering so it didn’t take up the rest of the plot, which i loved. i love spice BUT a good plot is truly needed & really pulls me in & ties the whole story together. Adam is such a good dad to his twin girls & they end up loving Harriet as much as i did. after finishing & reading the ending i was thrilled with the outcome. but also i really need to read about Gabriel & Penny’s story!!! i wanna know more about them & dive deeper into their relationship! Gabriel is Adam’s brother & Penny is his girlfriend. there’s a section at the end of the book that talks about their story & i just neeed to read more about it! but anyway if you’re looking for a nice quick & cute christmas romance, this is your book!

Tropes:
• Dual POV
• Christmas Themed
• Single Dad
• Actress FMC
• Small Town

Thanks to Love Notes PR and Louise Hudson for allowing me to read this novella as an ARC, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.

Harriet Edwards is the nations sweetheart who’s spent the last 10 years on the biggest serial drama in the country. In fear of the publics reaction to losing her role, she hides out in a cozy country cottage where she’s roped into helping out with the christmas nativity by the hottest single dad in town.

Adam Harris has actively avoided the church nativity - despite being the reverend’s son - but when the cast find themselves a wise man down, Adam is convinced to step in, that shouldn’t be so hard, remembering his line should be easy. Until the girl on tv he crushed on shows up and makes his world turn upside down.

This was a sweet novella, I managed to finish this in a matter of days. I liked the characters beyond the main ones, they were easy to get to know, I just wish I saw more of the Harris family!

If you want an easy Christmas read, I recommend 🎄

Gold Frankincense and Her A Novella by Louise Hudson is a perfect little holiday read to provide some much-needed reprieve after a tough long work day. I blasted through in one sitting (it is brief), it is utterly delightful, and gives you that warm fuzz-trigger for what a cozy feeling should feel like. The story is well paced; there are no fluff content and it flows very nicely, hence easy to immerse in. If you're debating whether to pick this book up, do it! A fast but filling read, one that leaves you with a full and fulfilled heart.

This was a cute, quick, holiday novella. Adam is a family man but doesn't always want to be a part of The Nativity for Christmas. In this small town easy to read novel Adam and Harriet meet and quickly work together for the yearly Nativity. Harriet has work problems and Adam is a single father of twins. This was a fun read about family holiday fun and second chance at love. I really enjoyed the characters and how the family worked together. This can be read as a standalone but book 1 is also great. Overall, this was enjoyable and great for getting into the Christmas vibes.

I received this as an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was a short sweet read, Adam initially was driving me nuts and I just wanted him to stop whining and get out of his head and go after what he wanted. However while that annoyed me I get the insecurities. But once he did the story really grew.

This short story has all the Christmas feels with Adam being in the nativity at his family's church.

✦Series: The Nativity #2
✦POV: Dual first-person
✦Spice: Open door scenes which aren’t overly explicit.

» Harriet is devastated when she gets axed from the hit prime-time soap Stanford Park, when all she wanted was a break. She accepts the offer to help coach Christmas Commons’ Nativity play, mainly because she wants to get to know the reverend’s son, Adam.

» Adam has avoided being in the Nativity play since forever, but he can’t escape it this year, especially since his twin daughters are spending Christmas with their mum and he has no excuse for his time. Lucky for him, Harriet has shown up to *ahem* coach the actors, and it seems he may need some extra help.

» I connected with Harriet; anyone who’s ever lost their job out of nowhere probably would, but she was sweet and didn’t have the stereotypical celebrity entitled attitude.

» Adam is gruff and awkward, but also terribly sweet where Harriet was concerned. I liked him better when he leaned into flirty Adam rather than self-deprecating Adam.

» Their relationship burned hot, quickly. There was an appropriate amount of will-they, won’t-they for a novella’s length.

» I enjoyed seeing Gabriel and Penny again from 2023's Away With a Stranger but I missed Izzy and Holly’s cheeky presence until they arrived late in the story.

» Louise Hudson packs a lot of story in to her novellas. Quick and to the point, it was an easy and enjoyable couple of hours to devour while travelling.

♡ Gold, Frankincense and Her is a fun holiday novella to warm you up for the holiday season. I recommend it if you want that Hallmark holiday vibe.

Lemme start by saying ADAM HARRIS IS MY DREAM MAN!! If you're looking for a heartwarming, laugh-out-loud, and utterly adorable holiday read, this is everything you need and more. Harriet Edwards and Adam Harris are the perfect leads for this cozy romance. Harriet’s vulnerability as she navigates uncertainty after losing her long-term acting role makes her relatable and endearing. Meanwhile, Adam—attentive, kind, and an absolute softie—steals the show. From the very beginning, his ability to notice Harriet’s subtle cues and body language sets him apart as the kind of hero we rarely see. Harriet and Adam’s first meeting is nothing short of magical—it’s cute, unexpected, and brimming with chemistry. From there, their connection deepens naturally, with sparks flying amidst rehearsals for the local nativity. The balance of humor and tender moments in their interactions gave me butterflies!!
And the Adam's household is absolutely chaotic! His banter with his younger brother Gabriel had me grinning ear to ear. Their sibling dynamic is so relatable (and a tad enviable, considering most of us wouldn’t tolerate that level of sass from our younger siblings!). Every interaction in Adam’s family is so authentic.
And how beautifully Hudson crafts her scenes!! The nativity subplot brings in a delightful sense of humor, the charm our small town exudes and the romance that tugs at your heartstrings. The pacing is perfect for me. It’s impossible not to wish for a movie adaptation (seriously, I NEED to see this on screen!). This book left me smiling, crying, and craving more, and if you too are searching for hallmark vibes, this is a must read!!

✨ Gold, Frankincense, and Her ✨ by Louise Hudson

This charming novella is the perfect festive escape—a cozy blend of heartwarming moments, small-town antics, and just the right touch of spice! 📖🎄

Harriet, a TV actress reeling from career uncertainty, and Adam, a golden-retriever single dad of twin girls, are thrown together in the most unexpected way: a small-town nativity play in desperate need of a wise man. (Spoiler: Adam’s more swoon-worthy than wise!) Their chemistry is chef’s kiss, with slow-burn tension that builds into sizzling romance.

Set against the backdrop of a quaint British village, this story is bursting with holiday magic, adorable twin shenanigans, and hilarious nativity drama. Watching Harriet and Adam navigate heartbreak, vulnerability, and undeniable attraction made this a joyful, cozy read that flew by in one sitting. Plus, the dual POV adds so much depth to their story.

Whether you’re here for the feel-good romance, the small-town vibes, or the swoony single dad trope, Gold, Frankincense, and Her will leave you grinning—and maybe even adding a nativity play to your holiday bucket list. Perfect for fans of Hallmark-esque charm with a spicy twist!

Thank you so much to Love Notes PR and Louise Hudson for sending me an ARC of Gold, Frankincense and Her!

Harriet Edwards is about to finish play the role of a character she's been for the last 10 years and has to hide her axing from the show from the media until the last episode is released on Christmas Day. She decides to hide away from the press in a little village till Boxing Day, where she stumbles upon a church nativity performance that needs some professional help. Adam Harris is a single dad to twins and the reverends son, he has turned down being in the nativity for so long but this year he has been roped into it. When famous actress Harriet shows up at the church and offers her help he knows he has to be the best version of himself all just to impress her.

This was such a cute little Christmasy novella from Louise Hudson's The Nativity series and I finished it in like an hour. Part of me wishes it was longer just so I could read more about the characters and their story. Keep in mind that this is a novella, about 140 pages, so if you are looking for a quick straightforward read I would definitely recommend this even if you haven't read the first book in the series. I really liked the characters in this book especially the Harris family, it was so cute seeing how they get on with each other, in particular Gabriel and Adam.

KEY TROPES:

- christmas
- small town
- single dad
- runaway actress
- set in England

Louise was so kind, to send me her latest novella.

If you are like me, and like an age gap, celebrity romance with a hint of drama then this is for you.

I loved that the family from the first book, was in the second book. I always love Louise's writing. I look forward to reading more by her.

⭐️Gold, Frankincense & Her ARC Review ⭐️

Let me just begin by saying this is such a fun and fast holiday read. This book is out now and i recommend you run and get it!!!

Harriet and Adam are so cute together! We all love a single dad, age gap trope! Adam is so awkward at first and its so cute it just makes his character all the more lovable!! Harriet is a strong independent woman and i loved her since the beginning! Its one of those stories that even when characters have different backgrounds and lifestyles they just WORK. You know, it’s not forced or rushed its just perfect and flows so easily! I loved that about this book! Its a relatively quick read! Took me two days after work and before bed so its a nice pace!!! The spice was enough and honestly just right with the story, it was more about the blooming romance!!!

PS… Those of you who have followed me for a while now know how much i adore @conceptsbycanea and her artwork!!! There is not ONE book Christiana has made artwork that I haven’t bought and read or pre-ordered! I’ve found so many amazing books and authors this way!! So im extremely giddy with excitement that I got to ARC read this book!! Thank you so much @louisehudsonauthor and @lovenotes.pr for this opportunity!

I love a holiday romance and this was such a joy to read. Louise has delivered another heartwarming, witty, sweet and steamy holiday novella with this one. It pulled me in immediately and I read it in one sitting. It gives all of those Christmas warm + fuzzy vibes with some added steam.

It’s time for the towns yearly nativity and this year single dad Adam, who usually prefers to stay in the background, gets roped in as a wise man. He may only have one line but he gets more out of this year’s festivities than he ever imagined when Harriet arrives. She’s a famous actress hiding out after her future became uncertain when she stumbles upon the nativity production and ends up being roped into helping out.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: holiday novella, small town, single dad, famous actress fmc, golden retriever mmc, costume fun.

Adam was the sweetest, greenest green flag of a man whose awkwardness and fumbling was so sweet and endearing, it had me smiling like a loon at my kindle. He didn’t see the actress everyone wanted to meet, he saw 𝙝𝙚𝙧 and I loved how protective he was of her right from the start.

I loved the cameos from Gabriel + Penny, the banter between the brothers was such a highlight and had me giggling at their antics.

[ARC Review]

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Gold, Frankincense & Her is the perfect holiday read—heartwarming, funny, and full of charm. Louise Hudson has crafted a story with just the right mix of humor, romance, and a touch of spice to keep things interesting.

Adam completely stole my heart with his shy, awkward sweetness and devotion to his twin daughters, who added so much personality and sass to the story. Harriet’s journey of rediscovery after a career setback was so relatable, and together, she and Adam balanced each other beautifully. Their chemistry felt so natural, and I loved seeing their connection grow.

The festive atmosphere was spot-on, from holiday markets to family banter, and it made the story even more magical without overshadowing its deeper themes of love, forgiveness, and finding purpose.

This was such a feel-good, cozy read that had me laughing, tearing up, and rooting for these characters every step of the way. If you’re looking for a holiday book with heart and humor, this one is a must-read!

firstly, i would like to thank love notes pr and louise hudson for providing me with an arc copy of this book to read and review!

this novella started off with the most perfect dedication! the fact that louise’s husband helped come up with the title of the book had me swooning and i just knew it was going to be a great story!

and a great story it was! while this is a super short novella, it felt like there was so much more to it in the best way possible. i truly think this is a perfect, short and sweet christmas read that is still packed with character and events and the most gorgeous writing. i can definitely see myself revisiting this town over and over again because i am just that in love with the characters and storyline.

while i didn’t want the pages of this novella to end, they ended in the best way. the last line of the epilogue is just so beautiful, but you’ll have to read it for yourself!

i can’t wait to go back and read the first novella in this little christmas series.

Book No.2 in The Nativity series by Louise Hudson and I just couldn’t wait to dive in straight after the first. Although it’s not directly linked to the first, it is set in the same village and within the same family. It absolutely doesn’t alter your reading experience if you haven’t read the first.
Adam is a grumpy dad of twins who suddenly finds his world tipping on its axis when Harriet comes to town.
The lonely, self conscious guy who thinks he doesn’t deserve the girl. The girl who has had her life turned upside down, just wanting to escape but instead is thrust into the heart of the village and roped into help with the famously popular nativity.
A hopeful romantic read with that little bit of spice that comes with a Louise Hudson book creates the perfect dream come true story and what can happen when you’re willing to lay yourself bare (😉) take a risk and just grab life with both hands. It took around 2hrs from start to finish and I loved it! Looking forward to the next instalment in November!

Another amazing Christmas novel to read.
Harriet was heartbroken lose the only acting role she’s ever known and uncertain over her future, hiding away from the press in a country cottage seems like the perfect solution, until she finds herself roped into the local nativity by the newest and hottest wise man in the village, Adam. I love their story. It was so cute seeing Adam being all nervous and shy around her , and not able to maintain eye contact. He is such a cutie.😭😭 I love him. I love his protectiveness over her. He is such fanboy of hers.
I love the little twin’s commentary about when they met her.
I also loved Gabriel and penny. gonna go read their story.

Harriett is an actress who is losing her role in a popular TV series. After ten years of being in that role, she feels lost and uncertain about her future. She decides to spend the holidays in the small town of Christmas Common where she ends up helping Adam, a single dad, with his father’s (aka the town’s reverend) Nativity play.

As this is a novella, things move quickly and we see the escalating tension and attraction between them. I enjoyed those deep moments when Adam shared about his past to help Harriett overcome her doubts in her own future.

Though they did not appear till almost the end, I liked all the scenes with Adam’s twin daughters! Kids are so cute and honest. Adam should learn from them on how to communicate. 🤣

This was a quick read with lots of spice and lots of Christmas-y moments.

This cute novella takes us back to Christmas Common and is centred around Adam, who we met in Away with a Stranger and Harriet, the nations sweetheart.

Adam is a single dad, who has been roped into being one of the wise men in his Dad's annual nativity for the church.

Harriet is trying to take sometime to deal with what she wants to do next and accidentally stumbles upon the church, full of villagers and finds herself becoming an unofficial acting coach.

Harriet completely turns Adam's Christmas and life upside down.

This is a wonderful addition to The Nativity series and I loved catching up with the rest of the Harris family.
Add to your TBR immediately if you want to escape for an hour or two with a quick, spicy, christmasy read.

Thank you Louise Hudson for allowing me to read another ARC, I am so grateful💕
