Take out the knitting needles today; wear a new shirt, shawl, or sweater tomorrow. These fashion-conscious projects will appeal to beginners eager to see results, and looking for something quick and stylish to create. The instructions make it easy to work each garment and accessory, and they give uncertain knitters confidence. But even those with more advanced skill will find they simply can’t resist whipping up every fantastic item, such as a cute little crop top with fringe around the neckline and a tie around the bottom. Other irresistible options include a silver blouse and stole, vests, purses, hats (one in red for the Red Hat Ladies), and an afghan. Knitters from outside the U.S. will also appreciate the handy conversion table.
Oh dear... This book definitely did not age well. Clearly, the big thing at the time was the introduction of "fun fur" yarn, as nearly every pattern has it in some capacity. The basic hat and shawl patterns are nothing special, and the patterns that stand out...well, they stand out for a reason, like horrific Make a Splash knitted tank. I can't imagine wanting to make any of these patterns...in any decade.
The worse knitting pattern that I have every seen is 'Forecast for Fall vest and had' with its fuzzy florescent pink edging, although the 'Lions' mane evening top' with its allover fuzzy faux-fur lion's mane style tank top is very very ugly as well. This is a bunch of easy simple quick knitting projects but only one simple sweater is somehting that I would knit. I can't in all honesty re-sale this terrible collection of patterns, and I would be too embarrassed to give it away as a re-gift. So it sits on the end of the knitting pattern book section in the library. 127 pages and hardback large format all color book 2 stars
24 Hours Projects for Knitting I like quick things to make because it breaks up the bigger things like afghans, but I was not thrilled with this book. Some of the things use fun furs and the like. While they looked cute, I wouldn't make them.
