Soulfully Beautiful Love Stories Busy writing your next book boyfriend!
USA Today Bestselling author Emmanuelle Snow is an author of contemporary YA and women's fiction love stories, who gives life to strong characters who’ll fight with all they have to reach their life goals and find their own happiness. She loves her characters to be relatable and realistic.
Emmanuelle is in love with love. Especially complicated, deep, and passionate feelings that make a relationship extraordinary and complex all at the same time.
She likes her characters to be believable and relatable! And her stories laced with raw emotions.
I just finished False Promises by Emmanuelle Snow. And first I want to thank Miss Snow for sending me an arc of her book in exchange for an honest review. I am forever grateful.
False Promises is the prequel to Pink and Country. We follow Carter Hills in his younger years. We see him fall for Dahlia, we read about his pain when she chooses his brother. And the excruciating pain that came after his brother's passing. And how much that affects his entire life.
This book felt like a warm bath coming back to the Amazing Carter Hills world. I love how much we dive deeper into his relationship with Dahlia. I even felt her comfort through the words written down. I adore his relationship with Jack. And I adore how much Jack loves him back. I know this was all in the previous books as well. But for some reason I felt it even deeper in this one. And I absolutely loved that.
I love how strong the bonds are with his friends. And how much trust there is between them all.
And then Savannah enters the picture. I won't spoil too much about the book. But right from the second I met her I knew where the story would go and how it would impact his life. Her personality radiates a selfishness that is unparalleled. And my heart felt all the emotions Carter went through. I love how fierce, strong and kind he is. But I also broke when he lost his way a little bit.
All in all, another strong book in this wonderful series. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I cannot wait to explore more books in this outstanding series. 5 big stars from me!
If you follow my reviews, by now you know how much I love Emmanuelle Snow work. She has a unique way of bringing her stories to life. All of them are packed with so many feelings it's impossible not to feel the heartbreak and then happiness for her characters.
Carter is one conflicted man. He's still in love with his childhood best friend, despite the fact she was in love and had a baby with his brother, not to mention she's found love again (his brother died) with a different man. He gets involved with Savannah and is trying real hard to move forward with her.
I don't even know where to begin with Savannah.. The words I want to write will probably get me banned on every site so I'll refrain but good God... I don't think I ever wanted to strangle anyone the way I wanted to do with her. I don't want to get into too much detail without spoiling it for you but best believe you won't like her too. If you can imagine the devil I'm positive she's his sister!
This story is filled with ups and downs and it will make your heart break for Carter again and again... But don't worry - his HEA is on its way!

Honestly, the first 20% had me balling my eyes out because my heart broke all over again having to witness Carter’s unrequited love, Dahlia news and the grief of Jeff’s passing all over again. I had to ask myself why I subjected my heart to the pain again but knowing there’s a HEA in his future definitely soothed the ache. It was nice to be back in this universe again and I liked getting that insight to Carter’s teenage brain.
By 50%, I was constantly fuming and my heart broke some more. It’s one thing to know about this part of Carter’s life from previous books, but it’s another to read the tea in details. I have to admit though, Emmanuelle wrote Savannah so well to the point where she is such an unbearably egotistical and unloveable character!! Honestly this line really summed it all up perfectly, “do you want me to tell you the story of how the pretty princess turned into the evil queen.”
By 70%, all I wondered was where his backbone was… I adored his character but the way he let her treat him astounded me. Everything had a purpose though. Everything led Carter to where he needed to be and by the end I let out the longest breath that I didn’t even realise I was holding. All the lessons he learns are very heartbreaking, but also makes his HEA with April so much more rewarding and deserved. I also adore the way the awareness of emotional manipulation/ ab*se towards men was handled as well. There was a lot of care and support for him which I feel like everyone in these situations deserve.
As always, I loved being back in the Carter Hills universe and I still very much adore Emmanuelle’s writing styles. I’m so honoured to have received this ARC, this is my honest review <3 I adored this with my whole heart but now please excuse me while I go re-read Pink & Country to soothe the remainder of my soul.
I went into this book blind, having not read Pink and Country. I enjoyed reading about Carter's past. You needed every bit of information you got at the beginning to understand why he does what he does later in the book. My heart broke for Carter and his upbringing and his brother and the first love of his life... I do like that this book kind of normalizes therapy for all but for men specifically.
I enjoyed the first part of the book, but it did feel like a synopsis a little bit... then you get to the point where Savannah (aka the devil) joins us... and I'll just say that Emmanuelle Snow wrote such a horrid, unlikable character, I actually found myself skipping/skimming a lot of her chapters... I know. I'm sorry... I just could not with that woman....
I wanted to love Dahlia, and I understand you can't help who you love, but I really wanted her and Carter to end up together. Especially for little Jack. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about nicks character..
Overall, this book was emotionally charged and gripping. I loved and hated and needed a nap when it was over. I think it's a success anytime an author is able to get an emotional reaction out of a reader. So, job well done. 👏
You get an HEA here, but not the one you're expecting at all!!
I read Pink and Country last year and absolutely loved Carter. So I knew a lot about Carter going into this book, but I really enjoyed getting to know him more. This book made me cry and laugh and feel. I also absolutely hate Savannah. Emmanuelle wrote such a perfect narcissistic and lying woman. Maybe she'll get the help she needs, but Carter is away from her, so I'm happy about that. I hate that Carter went through that, but I loved reading how he ended up ending it all with her. It shows what he went through and why he is the way he is in certain aspects. It might not be the HEA you thought it would be, but this book definitely ended on a happy note.

I absolutely fell in love with Carter Hills' story in Pink and Country (now published as Heart Song) Now getting the Prequel and finally seeing more into the toxic relationship with the infamous Savannah Prince, it shows just how much he has grown. Emmanuelle Snow did it again with this emotional rollercoaster of a story. This was an ARC that I enjoyed the whole way through as I have all the other books of hers I have read.
CARTER!!! My book boyfriend. I’m so glad Emmanuelle Snow decided to write another book as an intro to Carters life in between a budding career and heartbreak.
Carter is getting learning to cope with the death of his brother. In walks Savannah, an up and coming actress with an ability of theatrics.
While this book deals with some strong subjects including mental health, Emmanuelle did it justice and gave a voice to those who need one.
Will Carter find his happy ending or get stuck in a roller coaster of a relationship?
This is book two in The Carter Hills Band Series and it is Carter and Savannah’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Carter and Dahlia have been best friends from a early age and did everything together and because of there love for music they were always together and would do anything for each other so when Carter realised that he was in love with her as she was his everything he decided to tell her how he feels hoping that it doesn’t effect there friendship only his brother Jeff stepped in and asked Dahlia to be his prom date completely devastating and breaking Carter’s heart and life apart leaving him not knowing what to do next. When Dahlia and Jeff became a couple, got married and are having a baby together Carter feels as if his world had been torn apart taking him down a dark hole that he is unable to get out of and then something happened that totally destroyed and devastated them all and Carter knew that he had to pull himself together to be able to be the person that he needs to be. Carter started writing and singing his music again and even though at times he felt as if everything was closing in around him he continued to try and move forward. When Carter and Savannah met things started out really well only for everything to change over time when Savannah showed a side of her that Carter had never seen before and he realised that she was taking over and changing his life and he needed to walk away from this toxic relationship before he lost even more of his self. Wow this book takes you on a wild rollercoaster journey that had your head spinning, heart racing and kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and also it was so emotional and had you in tears. Savannah was a complete manipulator, used people for her own gain, selfish, greedy, evil, nasty, psychopath and a devious devil where as Carter was kind, caring, loving, giving and the most down to earth person even though he is a wealthy musician and I am so glad that he had some really special people in his life and corner to support and help him. I couldn’t put this book down as it was so addictive and the storyline pulled you in and wouldn’t let you go and had you turning the pages. Emmanuelle Snow is an amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading and you will not be disappointed.
I went into this one a little blind. From the blurb, I knew it was going to be intense, but it doesn't give much away.
If you've read Pink and Country, this is a must-read prequel.
For readers who haven't read Pink and Country, this book is going to pull you into the world of Carter Hills and you won't want to leave.
This isn’t so much a romance (it is spicy) as it is a journey of one man’s pain and the path that will lead him to finally finding his happiness.
This is Carter’s story before Pink and Country and revisits Carter’s feelings for his best friend Dahlia, his journey to stardom, and the toxic relationship that follows.
The writing is so deep that I could feel everything Carter was going through, and I began questioning what I wanted for my favorite characters. Honestly, I found myself having mixed feelings. Carter is honest, loyal, and deep down a sensitive guy with a huge heart. My heart remained broken for half the book and angered the last half. The manipulation after Carter meets Savannah, just wow! I may have found myself manipulated for a few chapters.
This is probably the most emotionally charged book in the series. It dives into Carter’s relationship with his best friend and the loss of his brother and the pain and heartbreak that led him into a very toxic relationship. It’s full of angst, heartbreak, and drama. The delivery of the ups and downs was well-crafted and smooth.
Written in first-person POV, with dual narration (second half), and time jumps.
The angst, the utter heartbreak, and protectiveness I felt for Carter during this book is unreal! Carter shows that no matter the fame and glory, nobody is immune to tragedies and heartache. Throughout almost the entire book I couldn’t help but want to hug him and reassure him that it was going to be ok, wasn’t it? Insert plot twist, then another, then another! Oh, the emotions! There is a fine line to walk here in order to avoid spoilers but man oh man, Savannah needs to walk around with a designer sign that says, “throat punch me, I deserve it”. The audacity of this woman is unmatched. I really appreciate the exposure and not popular side of some women that Emmanuelle showed in this book. Unfortunately, there really are some great men out there that fall victim to the evils of others, abuse can come in many forms and its victims/survivors are not gender specific. False Promises showcases so many emotions and its unique storyline is unlike any I’ve read so far. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a switch up in your normal read. This one keeps you on the edge of your seat in ways that other books don’t. I will most certainly be adding more of Emmanuelle Snow’s books to my TBR if they are all this soulfully impactful. Well done ma’am!

Firstly, thank you to Emmanuelle and her team for sending me a copy of this book.
I loved pink and country and was so happy to see that we got a sequel!
I was delighted that we got to see Carter and Dahlia growing up. Following the relationship dynamic between them and Jeff, Carter’s brother and how the decisions effected them in the lead up to his brothers death. I really liked that we got to see why Carter was so emotional and suffered with his anxiety. Although we already knew a bit of the story, reading it as he lived through it was such a great way to get to know his character!
Now… Savannah Prince… wow, her character had me jumping up in my bed, screaming internally with every unexpected, manipulative move! I was HOOKED with her, one of the most interesting and rage instilling characters I have read in a long time. She brought so much drama and angst to the story. Emmanuelle did such a good job with her character!
The plot was such a good way to expand on the characters we already knew from pink and country. Once I got into this book I could not put it down, I was wondering what could possibly happen next or go wrong.
Overall a great read! I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend to anyone who loves country or just romance in general.
Carter had been friends with Dahlia since they were little kids and on the night he was going to tell her how he felt, everything went wrong. He had encouraged his older brother, Jeff to ask the girl he liked to the prom. Carter had no idea that girl was Dahlia, his friend, his bandmate, the girl he loved and wrote songs about. Time moves on and Jeff marries Dahlia. Carter is broken hearted, this goes on for years. I’m sixty percent into this book and I’m not sure what this book is about. There’s noting but daily boring life, boring dates, boring tour talk, and there’s a book two, why?!! Now since Dahlia is on her second married, he’s decided to date. He’s the most boring rockstar I’ve ever read about. I feel no connection to any of these characters. Savannah sounds like a manipulative, inflated boob airhead, who’s in love with herself and Carter’s money. Carter is still whining and I want to throw my Kindle out my 17th floor balcony. This guy has zero luck, he’s an absolute doormat. That’s something I hate more than liver on female characters, but on a man it hits an all time cringiness. So, Carter finally sees the light and gets help from his friends and moves on. That’s how this book ends, not really a cliffhanger but there is psycho Savannah out there plotting revenge for being tossed unceremoniously on her behind.
This is the second book of Emmanuelle’s that I’ve read, and I just could not put it down!
Since Sweet Agony, I have been desperate to read about Carter’s take on the angst, love, relationships between Jeff, Dahlia and Carter. This book delivered. I don’t know how she does it, but the Carter described throughout the first half of the book was exactly like the one I imagined when reading Sweet Melody, so, whilst both books are from different series, I will honestly be re-reading them both together to fall back into the Jeff, Dahlia and Carter friend/relationships over and over.
I also don’t know how she manages to make her books so detailed, complex, yet still easy to read. I couldn’t put this book down, and regardless of the TWs and detailed emotions and plots, it was still so easy to read.
And, I’m not going to lie, but I’m so glad that Carter was finally able to have more incorporated into his life and personality as a character. I was starting to tire of his constant pining, and angst. As a character he deserved more - good or bad. And this book delivered.
As all of her other books, their emotional and real - so always check the TWs before reading
🎸Dual POV 🎸Suspenseful Romance 🎸Broken MCs ☠️ Psychological Abuse ☠️ Death of Sibling ☠️ Parental Abandonment
Wow! I definitely wasn't expecting the story to go the way it did at all. This read was definitely a whip-lashing 🎢 ride. Not in a bad way though, this ride I didn't want to get off. I didn't want to put it down because I had to keep reading so I could know ASAP what happened.
This book shocked 😲 me a couple times. It made me sad🥺, made me proud 🥰, made me angry😤, made me happy😄.
I love Carter Hills! He is honest, loyal to a fault, sexy and committed to those he loves. He would be any woman's dream. Savannah Prince on the other hand appears to be a sexy vixen who is vulnerable and just needs someone on her side. Boy does she have some surprises 🤯😱 up her sleeve.
You definitely don't want to miss out on this story. The ride it takes you on will be hard to forget and leaves you wanting more asap! I love the characters with the exception of Savannah and once you read it you will understand why.
Thank you Emmanuelle for allowing me to ARC read this for you.
I’ve read everything Emmanuelle Snow has published, and this has to be one of the hardest hitting emotionally (although Riley and Devon’s story is pretty tragically emotional in a different way).
Carter’s story told from a different point in his timeline - before Pink and Country - gives us such a new perspective on exactly the emotional turmoil he experienced in his years loving Dahlia while trying to have a normal relationship with Savannah Prince.
We already know from Pink and Country that Savannah had done quite a number on him emotionally and she was slandering his name in the press. Now we get to see it happening in real time, and her descent into her mental health issues first-hand and from both points of view.
What a wild ride! Very emotional for many reasons. I definitely, very highly recommend picking this one up, and suggest it would be a better experience with the backstories of Pink and Country and the Second Tear duet first. This comes slightly before Pink, and mostly after Second Tear in the timeline, but best read in this order.
I received an advance review copy from the author, and this is my honest feedback.
Just when I thought I couldn't love Carter Hills more, this book has cemented him in my heart.
Reading his POV about everything he felt and went through in hopes of letting go of his feelings for his best friend is devastating. The things he put himself through to numb the pain of rejection. The things he thought about himself. The things he went through at the hands of Savannah was heartbreaking.
Even though it's not talked about, women can be the abuser. Women attack emotionally and verbally. Sometimes physically. I really like how Emmanuelle shed a light on how men can be abused too.
I love how Carter found himself again. With the help of his family and friends. The way he went about it was perfect. Taking everything away from Savannah and leaving her with nothing.
She thought she had the upper hand because of Carter's soft heart, but she pushed him too far and released the ugly side of Carter.
I don't think the book could've ended better than Carter getting an eyeful of April.
Oh Carter....he still has a place in my heart. I already know how his story ends and I was definitely biased going into this but after reading it....I don't think I was biased at all....I still do not like Savannah....period! She is definitely the devil in disguise!
I absolutely love how Carter has always been written as a man not afraid of his emotions. He is a musician so there are naturally emotions there. He wears his heart on his sleeve for sure. Every time he was hurting I swear I could feel it too! I loved reading the early parts of Dahlia and Jeff being together as I have yet to read their actual story but then when that she devil showed up I had to just keep reminding myself Savannah is only temporary...lol!
I have to give it to Ms. Snow when she wants to write a character everyone should dislike....she does it well. I am curious to see if there are any readers out there that did like her. Thank the heavens Carter came to his senses and kicked her to the curb opening up the way for April and you can read that story in Blindsided.
I just finished this book, and Oh My God, this was amazing. I especially loved Savannah, not in the “I would like to meet this character” kind of love, more like the “I hate her so much that I love her” kind of love. You can’t help but fall in love with her, she’s just so evil. She doesn’t change her evilness depending on the day, she is always the same level of mean no matter what day of the week or what time it is. She is a true she-devil.
In this book, Emmanuelle Snow is bringing awareness to a certain type of domestic abuse that is not talked about a lot. She is bringing awareness to the fact that domestic violence is not only men abuse women, but that women can also abuse men. I love that she did this since not a lot of people write about this, and not a lot of people think much of it. So, thank you Emmanuelle for writing about this issue and helping people learn more about this problem.
False Promises by Emmanuelle Snow. You guys we are getting Savannah’s story! If you don’t know or have not read any of this authors books then you are probably not aware that we first meet Savannah back in Pink and Country and you guys she is not a likable character. So I was eager to read this book and see if maybe just maybe the author would change my mind about her. Maybe I would get a different perspective then the one I got from Pink and Country and just maybe I won’t dislodged so much. However nope that was not the case I still finished this boo and really really disliked her a lot. I swear this chape jijona Savannah just made me angrier than the last time. I think I even hate her more joe than before if that’s possible. The only good thing about this boo is that we get to know Carter better. I still love Carter even more this time around. I enjoyed this book and would highly recommend.
Carter Hills is a country music god who has the fame and everything money can buy. The only thing he doesn’t have is true love because the one girl he truly loves doesn’t reciprocate his feelings. One night, on a red carpet event, he meets Hollywood actress Savannah Prince and sparks fly. What Carter doesn’t know is that Savannah is not the woman she seems to be. But he chooses to ignore the warning signs and surf with danger thinking his good guy personality might not be enough to keep a woman like her. Savannah has an agenda of her own that he’s soon gonna discover. Chaos ensues.
This was an unexpected read. I was on edge the whole time I was reading this. It’s a shame that the characters don’t exist, I wanted to punch Savannah so bad. And poor Carter for having to go through that, he deserves better. I went through a whole set of emotions from sadness to anger. I could not recommend this book enough. Now, to the sequel I go! 📗🏃♀️
False Promises is the story of Carter Hills from pre-fame right up to the events at the start of Pink and Country. We get to see the bond between him and Dahlia, the moment that Carter’s heart breaks and his meeting and eventual relationship with Savannah.
Having read Pink and County and the Second Tear duet, I knew exactly what was coming, but I don’t think that prepared me for how hard the beginning of this book was going to hit me. I felt Carter’s pain in both losses. And then Savannah...Snow really gave us one with her. You know an author wrote a great character when you love to hate them and that’s exactly how I felt about her.
I loved getting to see Carter’s journey from the start. This is the perfect addition to the series and serves as a great prequel for it all. If you haven't picked up an Emmanuelle Snow book yet, start now. You won't be disappointed.
‘False Promises’ literally broke my heart into a million pieces. Don’t get me wrong I loved the novel but Savannah (FMC) made me so angry. I know people like Savannah do exist, but it’s mind blowing to me. I didn’t like Savannah in Carter’s other book and now I hate her even more. That being said I Ioved getting to know even more about Carter and his view on life. Author Emmanuel Snow wrote an enthralling novel that shows that not everything is exactly as it seems. The plot twists in this novel had me staring eyes wide open in disbelief. I can definitely say that this is a must read. Since I have read Carter’s other book already I wasn’t as connected to this book as I probably would have been, but I admit I’m so happy he didn’t remain blind to Savannah’s true self. I can’t wait to see what else Emmanuel Snow comes up with! 5/5 stars
This author knows how to write an emotional story that you can’t put down. I loved that this prequel gave even more information on Carters past and especially his relationship with Savannah and childhood with Dahlia. It made me like Carter even more. I knew Savannah was toxic, but oh my, I was not expecting the crazy that was Savannah. Getting a little bit from her perspective just cemented the fact that I did not like her. Carter was very vulnerable, and my heart ached as he was trying to make the relationship work when it was clearly not right for him While there were some spicy scenes, I was missing the banter and the chemistry that I loved in Pink and Country. Knowing how Carter’s story turns out, left me not as connected because I loved the romance he had in the other book. However, I loved getting to see how everything went down in this relationship. If you have not read either yet I recommend reading this first.
False Promises is in the Carter Hills Band world. Books should be read in order. This world is pretty addicting, so you will want to read all of the books!
Wow! I met Savannah Prince in Pink and Country. I thought she was nuts then, or maybe just a totally nasty person. Turns out she really is nuts! Carter Hills has had so much trauma and tragedy in his life, and Savannah knows just how to pile on more of the same. This is a very tough time in Carter’s life, and his journey to the other side has you rooting for him the entire time.
Emmanuelle Snow really knows how to tug at all of your emotions and does such a great job of bringing her characters to life! I highly recommend this book! Five stars!
This author really knows how to pull out all the emotions in each read and I have enjoyed riding these rollercoasters with her characters, so I didn’t know exactly how I would feel going back to a previous character’s story prior to his HEA, when I already knew how his HEA went. I love Carter and from Pink Country I fell for the guy even though I hated how much he loved his brother’s girl while crushing on his neighbor and that whole situation. In this we go back to before April stole Carter’s heart and we get to see so much of what makes him, well him. I like a good backstory and having Savannah in there to throw my anger at made her the perfect villain. Absolutely HATE her! I will say I did enjoy seeing and feeling things Carter went through to get him to exactly where he needed to be and you can see all that in Pink and Country.
✨Review✨ *** Thank you to Emmanuelle Snow for the book to review . *** False Promises was a great story. I had already read Carter's and April's story so I was about confused at the beginning of this book. After a few chapters I quickly caught on to what was happening. I loved getting more of a background story to Carter and seeing all he has gone through. I hated Savannah. Partly because of April but also because she was too much. She was mean, manipulative, and twisted. The ending was great and I am so glad Carter finally realized what was happening and chose to fix it. *** ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 ***
All my five stars are just for Savannah Prince She is bold as brass, wicked as a witch, and ruthless as a queen She is selfish, thinks herself to be entitled, works hard to snatch what she deserves. But she is what she is. A player. A schemer. And I love that she is true to herself and only herself in the entire book. And she shows growth - from bad to evil - down the pages. The title is apt He makes the promises. She just proves them false. Read FALSE PROMISES and fall in love with Savannah Prince. Bahahahaha
This book is the reason we love the Carter Hill world Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2023 Carter’s story from teenager to adult has all the feels and really shines light into the Carter Hills World. The emotional roller coaster of his life leaves you with a heartache. But ends with him taking life by the horns and not giving up. He endured drama that would make most men crumble. Carter shows his endurance and strength to prove himself wrong… he is deserving of love. Hang on tight, but worth the ride.
This author consistently delivers emotionally charged stories that tackle some tough issues in every book. This one is about overcoming loss of a family member and realization that a childhood love can never be.
This is also a tale about rising above your demons and coming into your own. All of this happens with a strong dose of passion which this author is very well known for. She delivers blazing love scenes that will have you waiting for her next book to arrive.
Carter and Dahlia started a band when they were 7 years old. Carter fell in love with Dahlia around the age of fifteen. Jeff, Carter’s brother also had a crush on dahlia. The band gets signed and they tour, but everything comes to an end when Dahlia leaves the band to get married.
The emotions this book gives. My feelings were all over the place. I felt so bad for Carter, I just wanted him to find his true love.
