The Cheerleader and The Guy Next Door

Perry

My life is a mess.

My mom and sister treat me like I’m the worst person in the world because I enforce my lone boundary. I’m really close to failing a class that is crucial to my degree. The very important regional cheerleading competition is coming up.

It’s a lot.

Then I meet my new neighbor and realize it’s the hot guy who witnessed something I do not want my cheer squad to find out. My life gets even more messy as I come up with a proposition to convince him to keep my secret.

He tells me he’ll keep my secret anyway, so why do I push him to take the deal?

Beau

Inheriting my grandfather’s old house after he passes away is bittersweet. It’s not been lived in for twenty years and is next to a house full of college cheerleaders, but it is perfect for me and my bee hives.

When I introduce myself to the squad, I come face to face with Perry, the guy whose family life imploded in front of me weeks ago.

He offers to help me kick start my business in exchange for never mentioning what I witnessed. No way would I say anything, but I still take him up on his offer.

Perry is the kind of man you use any excuse to spend time with.

So I do.

Breathless is book four in Squad Goals, an MM cheerleader romance. Expect a not-so-meet cute, Petty Perry, bee puns, spice, and a lot of cheer.

Perry is one of my favourite characters in this series and I love his pettiness. This story was short and sweet with a bit of spice and lots of cheer squad goals. I loved how Perry got the family he deserved and also that confrontation scene in the end with his mom gah I enjoyed it alot. Beau was a perfect person for Perry and I loved all their moments.

Overall, I loved this book and highly recommend it. If you are looking for some short and romantic stories, you should definitely check out Squad Goals series.

Perry has a pretty horrible family and his new neighbor happened to witness how his family treated him. Fast forward a few months and Perry and Beau have found something that each of them need. Embarrassing situation turns out to be one of the best things that happened to Perry. Read all about it and this book.

4.5 Stars!

This book was hilarious. I couldn’t help it, I laughed out loud so many times at all the cheer queer’s snarkiness and Perry’s pettiness…it was something else.

As good as it was though, I was still a little disappointed by how short it was (only 83 pages, I was hoping for a full size book) and the fact that Perry and Beau didn’t even so much as KISS until 74%. On the other hand, I DID like finally getting a better picture of the true Petty Perry from past books—there was so much more to him than we’d been privy to before.

Bottom line: the positives outweighed the negatives so this is 4.5 star book for me. Now I’m can’t wait for book five!

Another fun read for the Squad Goals crew from Willow. These are your perfect feel-good quickie reads. This cheerleader squad loves big and hard, and if you are lucky enough to enter their orbit, good luck they'll never let you go. It's the resident snarky man himself. Perry's turn to have someone truly love him as he is. When Beau moves next to the cheerleader house, he doesn't expect to see the man who had his live thrown in his face again. They take a minute to try something with Beaus hang ups from past relationships along with Perry's hangups from a not great family. But when they do allow themselves to try, they are beautiful together. Just another feel-good read to add to a fun series.

I SHOULD be taking this time to catch up on incoming ARCs instead of catching up on new TBRs...Should be. Here's Willow Thoams's "Breathless." It's the fourth book in her Squad Goals series.

I love how short and sweet these novels are. There is only enough angst to keep the plot moving, there's no third-act-break-up business, and there's barely any spice. Okay, so that last one is more of a negative. BUT these two were sooooo freaking adorable. I loooooved their inner monologues and their banter and the nicknames. They were perfect!

Trigger Warnings: toxic family members

This book 4 in the Squad Goals series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. This is the story of Perry and Beau. Perry is a nice member of the cheer squad who got really unlucky in the family sweepstakes. His mom and sister will have you wishing that lightening would come down and strike them. Perry really deserves much better. And thankfully that is exactly what he gets with his found family of college roommates. Beau moves in to the house right beside where Perry lives. He has inherited his grandfather's house. It is the perfect spot for him to set up his hives and start his beekeeping business. Beau was unlucky enough to have seen Perry's mom and sister in action. Since Perry wants to keep this quiet, he offers Beau a deal for his silence. He will help Beau get his beekeeping business off the ground. And since it fall into exactly what Perry has to do for his business class, they both win. This is their story. I really enjoyed this book. It is well written and easy to read. I enjoyed watching all of Perry's antics and his sense of justice. This is a lighthearted and fun book to read.

I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Petty together

This was a very short but as always fun Squad Goals story!

Perry has always been the defender of the group, ready to step up and petty his way to make sure that everything is going right for his squad. But at the same time he keeps up walls and doesn't allow them to do the same for him. It turns out Perry has a horrible family who just use and abuse him for money, which comes to a head one day leading him to cut them off. This whole event is witnessed by Beau, who is there to buy a car from Perry's family after being misled about the owner. Beau supports Perry walking away even though they don't know each other and Perry takes solace in the fact that he'll never see Beau again. That is until Beau moves in next door to the Cheer Squad.

This story went much faster because, unlike the others stories, both of the guys are attracted to each other and want each other (save for a very small snafu). It is easy to see their simmering attraction and add in the fact that Beau knows Perry's family and support him, and also has his own ways of petty revenge, and the two are a great pair. It made for a very amusing and quick read as they figured things out with plenty of humour and some great squad togetherness. Very fun novella!

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I’ve been a fan of Willow Thomas for awhile now. I really enjoyed this low-angst, light hearted, insta-love story and thought that it was a good addition to the Squad Goals Series, which is set in the same universe as Willow’s Caught Off Guard Series. Perry’s mum and sister are complete a*seholes and never deserved him, he’s a complete sweetheart, even if he can petty as f*ck when the need arises. I enjoyed Beau and Perry’s meet cute, even if his mother and sister were being utter a*seholes trying to sell Perry’s car.

His mum even told him that if he doesn’t sell his car so his sister can have the money for an investment then he’s no longer family. Beau could see him thinking and possibly weighing his options but Beau told him “Dude, don’t you fucking dare,” “Don’t give these a*seholes what they want.” I thought that they were cute together. The epilogue was one of my favourite parts. I’m really looking forward to reading more from this series as it continues, as well as more books from Willow Thomas in the future. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

If you’re looking for a delightful book that combines humor, heat, and raw chemistry, then ‘Breathless’ by Willow Thomas is a must-read! This short yet engaging story follows the hilarious escapades of Perry and Beau, who along with the cheer squad bring laughter on every page.

Perry is outspoken, funny, and full of energy. His vibrant personality shines through, making every moment with him a riot! On the other hand, Beau is more serious, providing a laid-back contrast. Despite their differences, their undeniable chemistry ignites the narrative, leading to sexy and hilarious moments that keep readers turning the pages.

Willow Thomas masterfully weaves the elements of humor and romance, showcasing her natural talent for engaging storytelling. Each scene transitions seamlessly from witty banter to steamy encounters, ensuring readers remain entertained. It’s not just a quick read; it’s an experience filled with laughter, intrigue, and a happy ending that leaves you craving more. ‘Breathless’—is a charming tale that will leave you breathless in the best way possible!

It’s time for the king of petty, Perry, to find his HEA and as expected, this one was a lot of fun. Perry has an absolutely awful family consisting of his mother and sister, and the first time he meets Beau is during one of the most awful interactions.

However, when Beau moves in next door and has a business proposition that is exactly what Perry needs for his course, things go a lot more smoothly. Beau is not quite as petty as Perry but does a good enough job to keep up with our lovely cheerleader. The rest of the gang is present and correct, complete with their normally inappropriate and/or funny behaviour so this was like revisiting old friends.

I liked Beau and Perry together, especially the way that Beau views Perry as something special – it’s exactly what our boy deserves! A solid addition to the Squad Goals series! I received an ARC from the author.

Perry gets his own book!! If you haven't read the rest of the series, I recommend for Perry's mischievous ways. I loved Perry in the other stories from this series, so to see he gets his own book makes me happy. What I am not happy about is the way his mom and sister treats him. They are terrible, and for Beau to witness it, makes it that much more embarrassing and sad for Perry.

Beau is new to the area and happens to move right next to the cheer house. Having witnessed Perry's family disaster, he was surprised to run into him again next door. Bring on some cookies, a compromise, a deal and something more all together creates for some fun times for Perry and Beau. Short and sweet and the ending was satisfying. Couldn't ask for more for Perry's story.

I received an ARC of this story and voluntarily

Perry has always been one of my favourites, He has been the one who has had me laughing at some of his comments about getting back at folk and some of the pranks he pulled. So I was looking forward to reading his story.
Perry had a secret that not even his closest friends know, he has the most toxic family that shocked me at what they tried to pull off. Hoping he doesn't have to relive the experience he gets on with his life until they new neighbour introduces himself.
I loved Beau and his enthusiasm. Whilst he is only a few years older than Perry, with the way he acted it felt like a bigger age gap.
This book had me laughing so much especially the tree incident. The downside was it was short. I wanted more of Perry and Beau as they were such a good pairing. This is a good addition to the series and it has set me up for the next member to get their story

This is another great addition to the series, this is Perry’s story and it was horrible to see the way his mum and sister treated him and for Perry it was even worse for a beautiful stranger to witness it but a few months later that beautiful stranger who is called Beau moves in next door to him and when he goes to ask Beau not to mention what he’d seen to anyone, they realise that they could help each other out with a work/uni opportunity the only problem is their chemistry is on fire and at first they try to ignore it but when they finally give in the feelings quickly follow and I love how you see them years later still going strong. Looking forward to reading Hudson and Wyatt’s story next.

4.5☆

This was a fun little novella! It was lighthearted and a really quick read. Perry is a cheerleader and Beau is the bee keeper who moves in next door. I really felt for Perry when he was dealing with his mom and sister. But other than that it was just a fun novella. I really loved all the side characters and I definitely need to read all the books in this series now. I enjoyed the build up and would have read more of Perry and Beau's story. Perry was petty and I really loved that and his sass. Beau was sweet and he also enjoyed Perry's pettiness.

I enjoyed the insta-lust and the vibes were vibing for me, so I don't really have complaints, it was a feel-good and fun novella for me.

Definitely a great, quick read between longer books and it was sweet and funny and a bit spicy.

Whenever I need a pick me up Willow never disappoints. As the reigning queen of short, insta-love, romantic comedy, she packs everything you need into a perfect lil punch.

In Breathless we find Perry, our resident petty king, falling head over Pom Pom’s for the new neighbor, Beau.

Family drama, silly misunderstandings, and a handful of pop diva-named bee hives brings this one to life.

Filled with cameos from all our favorite Squad Goal couples while tension continues to build between the two possibly-not-so-straight cheerleaders of the house, this one makes you already long for the next installment.

Addictive in the best way. Five stars!

Perry was a scene stealing in the previous books, with his sass, his schemes, and somewhat mysterious family. So I was excited for him to get his own book!

Perry IS sassy, and scheming, and sadly his family's mystery is that they are horrible people! (like, if they fell into an prepared grave, I would not help them get back out!) Beau is a bee keeping, supportive sweetie pie and they balance out nicely!

Like the other books in this series it is a quick read! Insta attraction, falling hard and quickly! The spice in this one is on the low end, but I enjoyed all the banter and found family of the Cheer Team!

Another nice and sweet story by Willow T. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it was too short and rushed. I mean, all of us who have been reading this series were waiting for Perry's story. He was an interesting sideline character in the previous books.

But despite that, the story was like a breath of fresh air for me, after having read some much darker and angsty books, giving me something more lighthearted and fun to counteract those stories.

I do recommend reading this author. Her stories are always enjoyable, and her characters are usually really lovable.

I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Perry’s story was an emotional at times. This story made me laugh and broke my heart at the same time. His mom and sister are truly awful people, but Perry himself is just the sweetest soul who deserves the world. Thankfully, he has the Cheer Queers. They are a group of amazing friends who offer unconditional love and support.

The text chain between the Queers was full of humor and sass. It’s proof that sometimes the family you choose is far better than the one you’re born into. Who needs a nasty mom when you have incredible friends like these?

I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Love this series! I've been waiting for Perry's story for what feels like forever!!

Perry has a toxic family consisting of mother and sister. Beau unfortunatly (or fortunately ;) ) witnesses one of their interactions and is caught in the middle. Fast forward a few months and he becomes Perry's new neighbour.

This book is full of love from found family and bees (can't forget the bees! SAVE THE BEES!!).

I love Beau and Perry together as they are just super sweet <3 Just wish the book was longer as I always need more!!

Sweetness Overload

Perry is such a petty queen, and I love it. The revenge he gets on his professor is funny as hell. Beau is an absolute doll. I love that he decided to move into the house he inherited. Starting his own company is so cool as well. These two met under very icky circumstances for Perry, but Beau never treated him differently because of it. I enjoyed watching them come together and figure things out. I love how great the found family aspect is in this series. It is one of my favorite things in the world.

I’ve loved Perry and his pranks through this series but my heart went out to him the way his mother and sister treated him . When he finds out his new neighbour is the very guy who saw his family treat him like dirt . Perry doesn’t know how to react so he makes a deal to help him market his business if he keeps quiet about his family but we all know all business and no pleasure will make Perry a sad boy.

Perry has been standout character to me throughout the series, and he definitely deserved Beau. This series is a great escape for me, the setting and characters are so wonderfully charming with loads of personality. I loved the blend of heart and humor, and the strength Perry finds in himself to stand up to his most was my favorite. This was fun, fast, flirty, and a fabulous addition to the series.

Beau and Perry

Another installment for our favorite house of cheerleaders. It may be a short read, but it doesn't lack in the story. Perry hides his family situation from everyone, but Beau watches it all unfold and knows the truth. From strangers to friends to more I guarantee you will love this story, there are a few misplaced words and misspellings, but they in no way ruin the story. I think if you give it a chance, you'll love it just as much as I did.

Perry Perry Perry oh how I love how petty you are! Out of all of the Squad Perry was the one I was most excited for, mainly because I really wanted to know WHO would be lucky enough to catch his heart. I was not disappointed by Beau. I loved how their meeting meant that Perry didn’t need to explain his mother and sister to him - seriously I have seen some toxic parents and they take the cake for such a short story - and then they are able to help each other, before they become a couple.
Seeing the rest of the squad was so great, as well as seeing the crew at the mechanics (Chasing Tan Lines!) which prompted a re-read. My only real complaint was I wish it was longer but this was a short and sweet read which is a great palate cleanser.

I had a hard time with this book. I've enjoyed the others in this series enough, but with this one being an insta-lust/insta-love premise, I just couldn't handle it. This book was also SO short that I really feel like there wasn't much development of the characters. Even though we've seen Perry before, we never really go to know him, and I still feel like I don't really. This one was just a miss for me.

I received an ARC copy of Breathless. I love Willows writing. Perry is a sassy cheerleader who falls for the new neighbor Beau. Perry is not just a pretty face, he helps Beau start his new business while also showing his professor he deserves an A. This story has snarky humor and I found it very entertaining for a quick read.Great job! Can't wait for the next book in Squad Goals.

In this quick novella, Perry from the cheer leading squad gets his man. The cute guy who moved in next door named Beau needs his help starting his bee business but also happened to witness Perry's humiliation. That won't stop either of them from becoming more than friends. Fun, flirty and fabulous is this cute, little story. I received a copy of this and this is my voluntary opinion.

Why choose this one:

Amazing characters
Neighbor to lovers
Crush brain = acting embarassingly
Beekeeper
Funny
Short light/fluff story

Tw *2 scene Toxic mom & sister

This book is really sweet. It was such a delight to read. Despite the heavy subject they kept the books as much fluff as it could be and I'm loving it. The nervous Perry while crushing on Beau is so cuuute. 80 pages of funny fluff. Love it. I could have take more.
