Live in the shadows long enough, you get used to the dark
2:00 a.m., the day after it’s a dark, wet night, and Detective Erin O’Reilly is ready for the biggest bust of her career. After months of deceit, danger, and death, she’s going to take down the O’Malley gang. All the pieces are in place. Evan O’Malley won’t know what hit him.
But something goes wrong. Erin’s friend, a Mob informant, is shot in his kitchen. A deadly O’Malley enforcer disappears. Erin’s carefully-laid plans collapse into chaos. As bullets fly and buildings burn, Erin and her K-9 Rolf race through the dark Manhattan streets on a mission to finish off the Irish Mob. Gangsters, cops, witnesses, and traitors hunt each other in the twilight of New York’s concrete canyons. The O’Malleys’ day may be ending, but they’re not going down without a fight.
Steven Henry is the USA Today bestselling author of the Erin O’Reilly mysteries and the Clarion Chronicles.
Steven learned how to read almost before he learned how to walk. Ever since he began reading stories, he wanted to put his own on the page. He lives a very quiet and ordinary life in Minnesota with his wife and dog.
Each time I open an Erin O’Reilly book I get stressed that one of the characters you’ve grown to love is going to die or even worse if something happens to Rolf. Each book keeps on getting better and Celtic Twilight doesn’t disappoint. From the very beginning nothing goes as planned with the takedown of the mobsters and then you’re on a rollercoaster ride throughout the rest of the book. I could get into the details but I don’t want to spoil it for other readers. The one thing I can say is that once you start reading you won’t want to put it down.
This is Book 25 in the Erin O'Reilly series, written by Steven Henry. Because I have been sick and in hospital, this review will be shorter than previous ones. This book has everything: the taking down of the O'Malley Mob empire; the near murder of James "Corky" Corcoran; the return of a witness protection member; the blowing up of Carlyle's bar; and the hunt for a very dangerous criminal who wants Corky, Carlyle, Erin, and Teresa Tommasino dead. Will he get his way? Or will Erin and Rolf finally end his Reign of Terror! I gave this book a 5 star rating.
Each book I say that one was even better but I’ll tell you this book really was. It was so full of excitement and danger! Kept me up all night reading and worried about Erin, Cars and Corky. Great characters and story line. I definitely recommend this book and all the others too!
Having read each of the Erin stories as quickly as they’ve come out, I’m loving this series. This installment was Great!!! I found myself asking OMG What next?! all the way thru! And to learn that there’s more to come!!! Color me Happy
I enjoyed almost everything but there was a lot of tension and worry, not knowing who would live or die. But I do love this whole series, Thanks Steven!
I’ve cared about these characters throughout this series. Great way to wrap up the O’Malley matter. Surprise upon surprise! Thanks for keeping Rolf safe. More please!
Excellent fast-paced entry in the Erin O’Reilly series. Erin is a homicide detective with NYPD who has a K-9 partner Rolf. They are about to wrap up a long investigation of the O’Malley crime family. Her boyfriend, Cars Carlyle, a member of the Irish mob has been secretly assisting Erin. The most dangerous part of the take-down is now upon them and of course everything is going wrong! Erin and her unit are racing against time to round up all the mobsters before they discover the betrayal. A betrayal that would mean death for Cars, Erin or anyone involved. A thrilling ride through the cold streets of New York!
This series is terrific! I love the characters and was on pins and needles that no one would die. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
