Savage I never wanted to be the president of the Lotus MC, but when my uncle dies, I have no choice, but to fill his shoes. As if putting my club back in order isn’t enough, a Texas sized tornado blows into my life. Bailey Watts. She is my childhood best friend and the only woman I have ever truly loved. Time and distance has changed us though. When danger finds its way to her life, I have a decision to make. Do I want to make good on the claim I put on her when I was seven years old or will I let her go for her own good?
Bailey Taking a PI case for my best friend shouldn’t be so hard, but her brother is a slippery little weasel. That’s how I find myself at the gate of the Lotus MC knowing there is only one man in this world that can help me. Hayes Brown. I haven’t seen him since he broke my heart when I was seventeen years old, but the moment we are together again those old feelings come flooding in. Things aren’t always as they seem. When my case becomes intertwined in his club, we find ourselves chasing ghosts while dealing with the fall out of past decisions.
Will Savage and Bailey find their way back to love or are they destined to crash and burn once more?
Cala Riley, better known as Cala and Riley, are a pair of friends with a deep seated love of books and writing. Both Cala and Riley are happily married and each have children, Cala with the four-legged kind while Riley has a mixture of both two-legged and four. While they live apart, that does not affect their connection. They are the true definition of family. What started as an idea that quickly turned into a full-length book and a bond that will never end.
He leaves her behind Never goes after her in TWELVE fucking years but I’m suppose to believe he has always loved her? 12 year separation is wayyyy overkill
No one is saying it but I guaran-fucking-tee he was NOT celibate for those 12 years especially as it’s an MC read ***update; confirmed neither were celibate during separation. And even though he was fucking OW while they were bff in high school, (while “in love” with her) and during their separation (while “in love” with her) he has a thought something along the lines of “I’m going to pretend she’s still a virgin”. Double standards much? Manwhores are gross. 🤮
So then we have “it’s always been you even though I abandoned you and fucked a bunch of OW” because that’s true love 🙄🙄 And to reiterate-he loved her SO much that he made not one effort to go back for her in TWELVE FUCKING YEARS and SHE comes to HIM even then
How tf is this love???

Read Cara Riley for the first time and enjoyed it so much that I'm now interested in reading her other books.
Savage and Bailey were childhood best friends, but some decisions separated them and left both heartbroken. Now Bailey (now a PI) needs Savage's (now an MC Prez) help track down her best friend's brother. The plot kicks off when a man stalking Bailey shows up and Savage goes into full "save his girl" mode. Meanwhile, both of them got time to talk and resolved all the issues related to the past.
Istg Savage is deep down a cutie but mess with his girl and 💀. Loved how all the Lotus MC members became so protective of her in just a few days. I liked the book but the ending was quite predictable for me. Plus point- NO OW DRAMA YAYYYY.
Tropes-
MC Romance Childhood bestfriends to lovers Found family Protective Alpha MMC Fiesty FMC Second Chance
Savage is my first time reading Cala Riley, and I was surprised by how sweet this MC romance was. It was nice to read a cinnamon-roll MC hero for once. I really enjoyed this writing duo, and I am interested in reading more from their backlist.
Savage and Bailey were childhood best friends who were pining for each other and wanting more, but things fell apart between them when Savage left for the military. Bailey was brokenhearted and did not want him to leave, but he wanted a way out of taking on the responsibility of the MC.
Now Bailey needs Savage's help locating her best friend's missing brother since he had dealings with his MC. Savage has taken over as the Pres of the Lotus MC and is trying to get his members' trust and fixing some issues. Now Bailey has crashed into his life like a wrecking ball, and he can not deny his love for her anymore. Things get dangerous when someone is stalking Bailey, and Savage steps in to keep her safe.
They communicate about all their issues and hurt feelings as they work together on the case. They had such a beautiful connection, and I loved how Savage was not afraid to show how deep his feelings were for her.
I loved all the other MC members, especially Loyal. They were so sweet and protective over Bailey. I also loved how this did not have OW drama or negative views on the sweetbutts. bailey actually befriends a couple of them, and they were accepting of her. It was a nice change for an MC romance.
Unfortunately I've had to DNF this one due to stalking being a trigger for me. But I've previously loved Gunner's Mercy by these author's and will definitely pick up more from them.
Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Trope: Second chance Angst: 😱😱😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Savage is my favorite Cala Riley book of all time. It's the combination of the heroin, the hero, and the childhood best friends to lovers to enemies to lovers that can't be beat. The heroin is bold, brassy, and knows her own mind and is not easily manipulated. She is unapologetically herself and I love that for her. An absolutely wonderful story with a realistic second chance. The teaser for Loyal has me waiting with bated breath for what could be coming!
This gave me very much Wattpad vibes. A book I’d eat up in one sitting but definitely could’ve been written better. The prologue threw me off a little because it felt unrealistic for a child to have those thoughts or speaking in that way. But that definitely set the tone for me and what to expect in the writing style for the rest of the book.
And while I enjoyed some of the plot points and the characters I think it just ultimately fell flat and was resolved too fast without any real development or depth. Despite this I still enjoyed it.
Second chance, childhood best friends isn't always my favourite, but this book hit differently. There wasn't really anything standing in the way of the characters' relationship. They both knew they should have been together already, and both knew that a relationship was inevitable and went all in. I loved Savage (Hayes) and Baileys chemistry. She fit right in with the MC guys and took to the completely. A match made in heaven.
Cala Riley is one of those authors, that if they write it, I am most likely going to read it. And this one? I dove right in, completely forgetting that it was the start of the Lotus San Antonio chapter series. And what a wonderful surprise that was for me.
The absolute best part was the relationship between both Savage and Bailey. Even before they even came back together. They just have this amazing pull towards one another that was built on years of growing up together. Something that even time apart couldn’t destroy.
Savage is such a fantastic read and had me glued to the pages trying to figure out every twist and turn. I can’t wait for more!! 5 Stars.
Gosh this was a well needed read for me. I have been in a bit of a reading rut and this was just want the doctor ordered.
The banter, perfection. The spice, delicious. The mystery and suspense, amazing. And the brotherhood that rallied around Bailey, chef's kiss.
Get yourself a man who rails you across his bike, then spells his name on your back with his ummm release. Cause man, I had to put my kindle down, I swear it was on fire. Savage was everything and then some.
"Savage is my nickname only because she brings out the savage in me. Mess with her, and the monster will come out and play." Like come on, could he be anymore book boyfriend perfection.
Bailey was an interesting FMC, who drew me in from the beginning. I loved that she was a PI, it was something different, she could hold her own and knew how to protect herself.
Cala Riley are two authors that are relatively new to me, but I definitely look forward to every new book release and I know I will thoroughly enjoy reading their entire backlog.
Every time I thought I had the mystery figured out, a new twist was thrown our way, and I found myself saying just one more chapter because I needed to know what was going to happen next.
Personally I wish I had read Colt first, this is definitely a well written standalone, but I'm the strange person that loves having all the contexts in a interconnected universe.
The ending fell a little flat for me, while it was not completely predictable (or maybe I was just slow) I did wish it wasnt resolved so quickly. However I have a feeling that some plot points are definitely foreshadowing what's too come.
My favorite non-spicy line of dialogue:
“Are Mom and Dad fighting?” Loyal whispers. “Yeah, kid, it happens sometimes. We just got to ride it out,” Fang tells him."
Thank you Cala Riley and Love Notes PR for giving me the opportunity to read Savage and leave my honest review.
“I don't know what I'm going to do to correct my wrongs, but I'll do whatever it takes. Because without her, there is no me. Never has been, never will be.”
It started off with Bailey and Hayes “Savage” at odds because of their past. It was interesting and a little sad how two people that love each other end up separated because of circumstances and choices they come to regret later. But seeing Bailey speak her piece and Hayes realize he has to step up and be the man she needs was refreshing. She didn’t just forgive and forget the minute she saw him again.
“You have always been mine. You were then. You are now. You will be until you take your last breath.”
Bailey did piss me off though. One chapter she’s like “I want this man, I want to keep him” and next, when he tells her he wants her and loves her she’s like “I have responsibilities, I can’t. Hope you understand tho” huh?? Make up your mind and then decide because you are giving me whiplash.
There were some weird disconnect between chapters. Like why would I need a recap at chapter 12 of a conversation that happened at the end of chapter 11? It felt like when you are watching a show and the “previously on the show” thing pops up…
The romance aspect was also strange. In the sense that they talked things through, he said his feelings, she was eager to get him back, they acted kinda like a couple but just weren’t. There was this strange build up of “big conversation waiting to happen” that wasn’t needed because all was already said. I really disliked the whole “I’m going to imagine she’s still a virgin” thought from him. If he had been celibate and waiting for her I could understand, but this man had fucked people while in HS, while they were best friends, during their time apart…etc. That felt unnecessary and took away from the moment in my opinion.
The plot was pretty solid, intricate and interesting enough but it didn’t manage to wow me.
Hayes “Savage” - A true protector from the beginning of the story. He has loved Bailey since the day they met at young kids. When they reconnect, he immediately knows his feelings for her never changed and he needs to figure out if he’s truly the man she deserves now.
Bailey - As a young girl, she wanted Hayes attention and love before she knew what that even meant in life. When Hayes left to become a better person, she was heartbroken and couldn’t get over him not wanting to choose her. When she shows up at his clubhouse after 12 years, her heart explodes with resurfaced feelings but also questioning if she can truly trust him with her heart again.
This book has a great take on a second chance, childhood lovers romance. Both characters never fight their feelings for each other, and they take the initiative to go for it after years lost with each other. When Bailey’s life is put in danger, Savage shows everyone why he got that nickname at 7 years old. Bailey is not a damsel in distress, but allows Savage to protect her at all costs even though she probably gave him a few gray hairs in the process.
The spice level was low, but not even needed to root for this couple to make it work. I can’t wait to read more in this series!
Savage is my second Cala Riley book. This is also my second MC book. Savage was adorable. I love the fact that he had been pining after his best friend since he was seven how he was already fiercely protective of her. This is very much second Chance /friends to strangers to friends to lovers. The banter back and fourth 👌, The automatic spark as soon as they reconnect 🥹 I love when they decide to stop fighting with one another and give it another shot and how she brings so much life back to the motorcycle club and to him. I also love the fact that some of his closest crew seemed to love her being there just as much. I also love the fact that they all decide to join in on her family's business lol Now that they've hinted at Tiny's backstory and Loyal's romantic interests, I can't wait to hear their stories and can't wait for their possible books to come out 😊 fingers crossed 🤞 🤞 Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series and I can't wait to read it.

This is the first book in a new series and this is Savage and Bailey’s story. Savage and Bailey were childhood best friends, but now he is the president of Lotus MC, and she takes on a PI case for her best friend to find her brother, which beings her to the MC, knowing Savage is the only one who can help her. When Bailey is in danger, Savage and his club will do whatever they must to keep her safe and protected. This is a well written action packed story, with found family, friendships, emotions, danger, suspense, intrigue, heartbreak, friends /lovers, trust, second chances, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
3.5 star I was able to get interested in the book straight away and enjoyed the suspense part of the book, however some aspects fell a little flat for me. I just had a hard time connecting with characters in the second half of the book. There was more grit and angst at first then the characters softened somewhat. I kept thinking it was too parallel to the MC tv series that I didn’t feel this was its own story, in my opinion. A good read overall and happy to see there was more plot than spice, but still a good amount of spice to fit the story. Thank you to the author for opportunity to read and review this as an arc.
The first book in the Lotus MC - San Antonio Chapter and it was so freaking amazing! Childhood friends Hayes and Bailey were always meant to be together but decisions, unsaid words and stubbornness kept them apart.
But when Bailey needs help on an investigation she seeks out Hayes and that is the start of them once again.
Bailey, took over her dad's PI business, her current case has her stuck, her best friend's brother is missing and she will do everything possible to get answers for her, and when that includes seeking help from the man she has always loved, so be it.
Hayes, did everything he could to be a better man, and leaving his small town was part of it but leaving the woman he loved wasn't but when things are said he stayed away. But now his back and when she shows up at Lotus MC needing his help. He isn't letting her go.
Okay, I loved, just loved this couple. They were stubborn strong minded and independent but they loved each other no matter what. The banter, chemistry and spice was so freaking amazing, throw in the suspense and awesome as hell secondary leads and this was un-put-downable.
I'm already guessing future couples and I can't wait to get back into this world and read those books!
(3.8 Stars) Hayes aka Savage had become the Lotus MC’s president after his uncles passing. Deal with a lot is normal in his world but when an old flame, Bailey Watts, shows up needing some help can he separate the club world from the past? She needs assistance from the MC for a case she is working but going back to the one who broke her heart might become more dangerous than she first thought. This is more of a sweet second chance romance than a dark MC, the main hero just happens to be in one. I liked the family feel with all the club members and even though I did guess the ending I still enjoyed this lighter side of the biker world. Told in first person and dual POV.
So this is a spinoff of another MC romance that I absolutely love. Savage was introduced to us in a book in that series (Colt is the book title of that one). I really enjoyed the first half or so of this book, seeing the dynamic of Bailey and Savage finding each other again. Plus, there was the added piece that Bailey is a PI, and she needed the clubs help to break the block on some of the case that she was facing. Their childhood crushed that blood into their teen years was such a mix of bittersweet feelings. Savage left, needing to find himself as he joined the military. Now that he’s back, they simply just cannot deny the chemistry between the two of them. I had fun with the romantic suspense side of the story, trying to locate the missing person. For all the girls who love second chance, I think you will eat this up. There are definitely a lot of MC components, but for those who have not read an MC yet, I would tell you that it’s not gory or anything like that. This MC romance has more emphasis on the ‘found family’ type setup than the doings/actions of an MC
For sake of honesty, I felt like the last half of this book did not meet the first half as far as delivery. It definitely wasn’t a drag, but it just didn’t feel like it punched as much as the first half. I’m unsure how the two writers who write together under this pin name make it work, but I definitely felt the disconnect more in this one. Also, this is so nit-picky, but I hate that the brothers chose her nickname in this one.
Tropes you’ll find: MC romance, second chance, romantic suspense, best friends to strangers to lovers, found family, protective MMC
I read this book in three hours! I couldn’t put it down! In my opinion it is a romance thriller! This book had me swooning over the characters relationship while on the edge of my seat!
🏍️ Motorcycle Club 🖤Second Chance Love 🏍️ Enemies To Lovers 🖤 Banter
Savage and Bailey have been best friends since they were children. Savage has always been her protector and Bailey was his princess. He leaves to better himself and Bailey is devastated over it. They reunite when Bailey needs Savages assistance with one of her PI cases. I adored reading Savage evolve through out the book. He is such a sweet man that loves unconditionally. Bailey, whew, she drove me absolutely crazy. The amount of times she talked about how he just left her and how horrible he was for it. At one point it was like yeah, we get it let’s move on here. She was very manipulative and I didn’t care for her character at all.
The way Cala Riley tucked in the thriller part was absolutely chefs kiss. I was not expecting it but really enjoyed it. Although this book is spectacular, please check your ‼️‼️‼️TW‼️‼️‼️

3.5 stars A second chance at love with a side of chaos. Savage was an exciting, engaging book that had me gripping the edges of my kindle. From the very start, we get thrown into a world of missing people, motorcycle clubs, and PI business. I will admit, about a quarter way through the book I did have a clue about how things were going to play out. I wasn’t as surprised as I wish I was by the twist. I was surprised by the way it happened though. I wish the mystery part of this book was a little more of the main plot, but I did enjoy this book as a straight forward second chance, childhood besties love story. I also thoroughly enjoyed our FMC. I loved how headstrong she was and how she stood her ground, but also knew how to be soft. The side characters were so entertaining and I’m looking forward to reading about the rest of our Lotus MC Members.
I didn’t like the prologue chapter. It was weird and questionable, I ended up giving a laugh for the way it was written. The first few chapters were all word-vomit which felt so frustrating to read. The FMC was immature and annoying, I was unable to make out of her personality as it seem all over the place. It was not sticking as to what persona the author was trying to make of her. As for the MMC, he was too shallow and underwhelming. The intensity of his character was lacking, he was giving a literal childhood-friend/boy-next-door vibes. My hopes were dark romance, but the vibe of the whole story was not giving what it was about.
The whole chaos were predictable and it’s not as exciting page-turner. I’m disappointed how the whole story went, some scenes were cringe and cheesy. On top of that, the spice was not written well. This was definitely tough to read and surprised that I was able to finish it.
Savage has always looked after Bailey since they were kids. They were young childhood sweethearts, but time torn them apart and distance caused them to drift further apart. But he has always loved her, no one compared. Bailey is now working for her father’s PI business and she needs help, so she turns to the one man she knows will always show up for her and be there for her.
Watching these two reconnect, it was like fireworks going off. The tension and chemistry was there and burning bright. And everyone in the club loved her too, so he had to stake his claim quick. He wasn’t going to let anyone hurt the woman he loved, but man Bailey was a baddie too. The spice, it was hot. Savage learning his new role of the President of the MC and getting his “old lady.” It was the perfect dangerous and spicy MC romance.
Just finished Savage. Omg I loved it. Childhood best friends MC romance love love love! ❤️ it follows P.I investor Bailey, she gets hired by her best friend to find her brother. She runs out of ideas on how to look for him so she turns to the 1 person who she never wanted to see again after he left her who happens to be the President of the Lotus MC Savage. Savage was always in love with Bailey, but when she storms back into his life and asks for help he knew he couldn’t deny her no matter how long it has been he was still wrapped around his finger. But things changed when she discovered she has a stalker. Will savage be able to protect his childhood best friend? Will Bailey find her best friends brother? Who is the stalker? Read and find out.
Savage by Cala Riley is a quick, fun, and spicy read that hits all the right notes. Hayes, AKA Savage, the president of the Lotus MC, is honestly the sweetest tough guy ever, and his connection with Bailey is amazing. They’ve had this slow-burn attraction since they were kids, and watching them finally give in to it is so satisfying.
What I love about this book is that the spice doesn’t overwhelm the story. It’s definitely there, but it feels natural and doesn’t take over the plot like some MC romances can. The balance between the romance and the action is on point.
If you’re new to MC romances or morally grey characters, Savage is a great place to start. It’s got heat, heart, and a solid storyline that’ll keep you hooked. Highly recommend!
this book was pretty cheesy for an MC book so if you’re looking for not dark MC read, this is perfect. Savage/Hayes and Bailey pick right back up in their friendship and quickly admit they want to be more than friends. all the brothers loved her and had her back. and i loved that there was no OW drama. there is no OM drama but Bailey does have a stalker. there is a lot of crossover references to the other MC series the author writes so if this is your first book by them, i would recommend reading the original Lotus MC series first, but it’s not required.
Savage is book 1 in the Lotus MC : San Antonio series by Cala Riley and features Savage the President for the Lotus MC and Bailey who is a PI. Both were childhood friends until Savage left for the military. He is now back and Bailey needs his help to find someone they used to know. This then gets bigger and savage has to save Bailey. I absolutely loved reading Savage and Bailey's story and the bonus chapter also available. Thankyou LovenotesPR and Cala Riley for this opportunity.
Ooh this was a fun one. I LOVE a protective MMC with a protective and scary group of friends. The way they instantly took to Bailey and guarded her like a younger sister was amazing. It was hard for me to picture the MC clubhouse, I felt like it was ever shifting in my head (it honestly started out feeling like a gross frat house), but I love that Bailey felt safe there. I also love when Bailey stood up to all the scary men, even before they were protecting her. The twists were great, the spice was great, and the ending was adorable and satisfying.
Thanks Hambright PR for a free copy; my thoughts and review are my own.
Best friends to lovers and make him a MC Prez, yes please. Savage had the perfect amount of romance, spice and suspense. Bailey and Hayes were great characters and loved their chemistry and banter. The brothers in the MC were great, loved them all.
