From the MOMENT Alistair had his chapter (*cough cough* chapter two).... I instantly fell in love with all of him and my panties absolutely disintegrated. Like yes, please ravage me in a dirty alleyway... please hunt me down like I'm your prey...

THE WAY ALISTAIR JUST BECAME ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED AND FERAL AND POSSESSIVE WITH CORA?!?!? It was one of the hottest freaking things ever. THE WAY HE SIMPLY DIDN'T GIVE A F**K ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THOUGHT WITH HIM PINING OVER CORA? HOTTTTTT.
And when he uses a *toy that doesn't go buzz, buzz* with Cora?? One of the hottest scenes I have ever freaking read.
THE SCENES WITH JONAS, LENNY, ELENA, AND KAL HAD ME SWOOOOOOONING FOR DAYS. Honestly, I hope we get a short novella with Elena and Kal soon 🥺 I miss my babies dearly.
The plot of the book was pretty predictable but I still loved EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

Well… I have a lot of mixed feelings about this one. It’s the fourth book in the Monsters and Muses series and it’s based on the story of Apollo and Daphne. I found it to be a little confusing at times. Some people things, didn’t felt explained. Some things didn’t make any sense or just felt random. Which is really disappointing, because I would have really would have enjoyed the book if I didn’t get lost as much.
Alistair Wolfe is Jonas’ older brother. Who we met in the previous book. I think Alistair so far, has been my favorite MMC out the series so far. He is a confident, stoic politician, that also is tall, handsome and older. ̶(̶N̶o̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶m̶e̶n̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶h̶e̶ ̶h̶a̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶r̶e̶e̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶k̶i̶n̶k̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶ ̶d̶i̶c̶k̶ ̶p̶i̶e̶r̶c̶i̶n̶g̶.̶)̶ He is obsessive and possessive. He literally changes parts of his house and wardrobe based off the hair color of the girl he loves. This man was unhinged for this woman, there would be moments of him just thinking odd things such as: “𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘳𝘪𝘣 𝘤𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘧𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦, 𝘴𝘰 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥.”
Ironically, Cora has been my least favorite FMC of the series so far. There was times where it felt like she was just playing that edgy girl that “isn’t like other girls.” I found her dog really annoying. I get her connection to the dog, but I quickly became irritated with how many scenes the dog had to be in. She couldn’t leave the dog alone and it drove me a little crazy. But she did care deeply for her brother, which I did like about her.
There was some twists that were too obvious- like Hollis/Lucien. Or Cora snooping in Marshall’s room and finding a folder about her. Why was she surprised that it belonged to him? It was in his room.
Some things were absolutely not realistic. Cora get hit in the hid, gets unconscious and had blunt force trauma and the next chapter she doesn’t acknowledge being attack? Yet, she gets up out of bed, completely fine and ready to accuse Alistair.
Then there was a scene of two having sex at the edge of a cliff. Like ? I would understand doing it outdoors, but at the edge of the cliff, with your head dangling? Why?
Alistair and Cora had a lot sexual chemistry. But romantic chemistry? I’m not sure. They definitely had their soft moments. But I wasn’t sold on them having a serious developed relationship.
The smut didn’t disappoint. Miller knows how to serve in the smut department. The early part of the book, with Alistair on his knees in the alleyway? Whew, I was sold right there. Oh and the blood play? Damn.
As usual I loved seeing Kal and Elena again. They really are the backbone of the series. It was interesting to see Violet, Kal’s brother, who met briefly in the first book. We got a little more a development on her since her time with in book one was short.
There was a reoccurring line of Alistair saying Cora of “I’m trying to keep you safe.” Or something similar to that. Safe from what? The Barbieris?
I got mostly confused toward the end of the book. Around the climax. It felt like Lucien made an entrance twice.
There a scene where Cora throws and somehow sees her brother from a print paper on the target. No explanation.
Confusion got me away from the book. There was just some scenes, Especially with Alistair, where the information wasn’t thoroughly conveyed.
Overall, I did liked the plot premise and the overall set up This book definitely had me more intrigued than the last. Although there was some moments, I couldn’t follow that easily or didn’t understand the purpose. It was an interesting read. But so far, not my favorite.

I liked this one okay. I could have loved it, given how much I loved Alastair and his beautiful, dirty mouth and how much he revered Cora. Her, I didn’t like so much. She was too wrapped up in her own secrets and not paying attention to what was going on around her. There were just big plot holes for me.
Alastair meets Cora after he follows her from the restaurant where he saw her stealing tips. Then they have sex right there in the street, and he leaves her. She shows up to interview for his assistant position without knowing it’s for him and he hires her on the spot. His PI hates her guts, and he tries to make life miserable for her, but she doesn’t confide in Alastair despite him showing over and over that he won’t put up with bullshit where she’s concerned.
I mean, she gets bashed over the head while snooping in the PI Marshall’s bedroom, finds evidence of him tailing and spying on her, and her first instinct is to think it was Alastair who did it and then put her in his bed? Among other glaringly red flags, these two intelligent people should have seen him coming from a mile away. Instead, Cora (who is so irresistible but SO unappealing to me) goes round and round with Alastair keeping him at arms length even until the last line of the epilogue. It was enormously frustrating.

Dark.
Delicious.
Sinful.
This dark romance was a perfect installment to the Monsters & Muses series by Sav. Miller and it did not disappoint.
Arrows and Apologies just made me question my morals, in the best way. With the darkness in Alistair, to the sass in Cora. Combined with the chemistry, this book was absolutely addicting from start to finish.
Plus, this story started with A BANG 💥 and I was here for every moment and feeling it produced. AND THE SPICE. I might need to go to church after that, it was positively filthy and I AM HERE FOR IT.
What I loved most about this book was the addiction with each page turn, the mini cliffhangers throughout the book to leave me wanting more, and the characters. I’m a sucker for dark and disturbed and Alistair did not disappoint in that department. And I enjoyed the main problem at hand that drove this story and it’s characters forward.
The only reasons I’m giving it 4/5 stars is because there were some confusing moments for me as a reader that just didn’t tie in together super smooth. Also, the ending scene could have been played out a little longer to give it that emotional depth that the characters were feeling. And I wish there was a bit more development from Cora and Alistair as well as development together as a couple. For example, just more intimate moments and dialogue would have elevated their dynamic more.
Other than that, this dark romance was a great, addicting read that set Sav. Miller apart.
Especially the 🩸 scene. Once you read it, you’ll know.
With TW (so research those before starting), SPICE GALORE, dark characters, and a central plot point, this book was a fun, deliciously dark, page turning read.

Arrows and Apologies was my first book of the month, my forty-eighth book in total, and my fifth book from Sav R. Miller. The way I’m severely disappointed with my feelings for this book because I had SUCH high hopes🤧. The fact it took me 2 weeks to finish this book should speak volumes because I usually devour Sav’s books in like 2/3 days🤧. Arrows and Apologies follows the story of Alistair Wolfe and Cora Astor. Tropes within this book are dark romance, forced proximity, age gap romance, workplace romance, enemies to lovers, enemies with benefits, cat and mouse game, alpha male, breeding kink, possessive male character, etc. The way my woman just fumbled the ball with this damn book, like it truly hurts my heart❤️🩹. We met Alistair Wolfe in the previous book, Oaths and Omissions (his brother Jonas’s book) so I was so hyped to read his book and see what kind of trouble he gets into. And he gets into trouble, just not the well written or well developed kind😪. Alistair and Cora meet one random night at a bar he owns and he notices her taking the waitress’s tips. Instead of calling her out automatically, he just basically lusts for her over the simple fact she’s stealing from his establishment… embarrassing but okay. And so Alistair follows Cora to the back alleyway and confronts her. One thing leads to another and they’re fucking up against a brick wall and he’s talking about impregnating her… and he don’t even know ms girls name🥲. Anywho, keeping it pushing, they part and think they’ll never see each other until a day or two later, I kid you not, she shows up to interview for an assistants position he has open… love that don’t we? And then of course, it’s like the stereotypical enemies to lovers vibes where they claim to hate each other but are fucking each other brains out like there’s no tomorrow. Regardless, that was developed poorly because I literally didn’t feel a spark between Alistair and Cora at all, like even throughout the book. They were just keeping secrets and fucking each other at the MOST inconvenient times🫤. Like ms girl was dealing with BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA and he was railing her shit. She was dealing with burns and scraping from jumping outta a car and he was railing her shit…. LIKE BESTIES, READ THE ROOM, pls😪. Not to mention the plot was EXTREMELY predictable and the inclusion of Cora’s brother Lucien was SO unnecessary. Like I read 300+ pages of words and I literally can’t tell you the reason as to why Alistair had Lucien and Marshall (an employee of his) wanting to see his downfall? Like pls, nothing was giving even though Sav gave us MAD words😫. One thing I did appreciate was the inclusion of my lovers, Kal&Elena and Jonas&Lenny. My best babies truthfully, they carried the book with their little screentime that they had😌. Long long story short, I’m disappointed in the execution of this book considering her other previous books in the series ATE! I wish Sav would’ve worked on this more because truthfully I feel like this book was rushed and the pacing and poor developing of the plot shows it😐. Although I don’t recommend this book, I definitely recommend the series and the previous three books because THEM BITCHES ATE🤤. Alistair just should’ve stayed in Oaths and Sav should’ve given me Violet’s story instead 😪 (although I think Vi’s story is gonna be book 5 and I’ma LOSE MY MIND BECAUSE THE RETURN OF KAL ANDERSON?!😍😍).

if i'm being honest, i hated mayor wolfe in oaths and omissions so i went into this book expecting him to grow on me, but after only mere pages i liked him better than his younger brother. and cora? she might be my new favorite fmc from this universe, unexpectedly dethroning riley. and that wasn't the only thing sav proved me wrong about, i thought this book wasn't nearly as dark as the previous ones and then that ending obliterated my conviction. this was a pleasant surprise all-around.

3.75 stars: Another spicy and surprising read in this series!
Apollo and Daphne isn't a myth I'm well-read about, but I still really enjoyed the little easter eggs of the source material Sav constantly includes in these books.
I loved the tension and chemistry between the MCs, the story itself was engaging, and it was really spicy but without overpowering the whole book.
The Bi-Rep was great. Especially the MMC is so open about his past relationships with men. It was refreshing and made me like him even more.
Like everyone else, I get weak for the boy-obsessed trope, and Alaistar served it so hard here hehe 🤭. He sees Cora and knows she's his. And their interactions were scorching!
I always think that the plot of these books isn't the strongest part, but it was entertaining to keep me invested. While I did predict the twist early on, it didn't change the experience I had reading it.
+ there is a dog, so this book deserves all the bonus points!
Overall, this series grew on me, and now I'm really invested and love the twist they take on popular Greek Myths.
I can't wait to read the next one because it's based on my favorite Myth: Cupid and Psyche!

Apollo and Daphne isn't a myth I'm well-read about, but I still really enjoyed the little easter eggs of the source material Sav constantly includes in these books.
I loved the tension and chemistry between the MCs, the story itself was engaging, and it was really spicy but without overpowering the whole book.
The Bi-Rep was great. Especially the MMC is so open about his past relationships with men. It was refreshing and made me like him even more.
Like everyone else, I get weak for the boy-obsessed trope, and Alaistar served it so hard here hehe 🤭. He sees Cora and knows she's his. And their interactions were scorching!
I always think that the plot of these books isn't the strongest part, but it was entertaining to keep me invested. While I did predict the twist early on, it didn't change the experience I had reading it.
+ there is a dog, so this book deserves all the bonus points!
Overall, this series grew on me, and now I'm really invested and love the twist they take on popular Greek Myths.
I can't wait to read the next one because it's based on my favorite Myth: Cupid and Psyche!

This was so good. I loved Cora and Alistair relationship so much, I really enjoyed the plot and I even teared up at the end.

every time i read her books i swear the female characters do nothing for me, i can never connect with them. lenny and cora were so similar to me, like i read them with the same tone. maybe it was because they were both so nonchalant about everything. the male characters she writes are always so attractive.

- firstly, i felt like there was no romantic connection between the characters.
- i hated the plot and the pacing of the plot, it was slow and barely anything happened
- cora being wholly unaware that kal is violets brother, her cousin????even till the end??

I don't say this often but when I do you know it means something: this series has not missed once. not once.
It's very rare for an author to continuously write hits as often as Sav does, but here I am singing her praises. I really was not expecting much out of this book but I got a man obsessed, feral for his girl and soft for her. I also got such good spice, I felt refreshed.
Anyways, another solid contemporary dark-ish romance reads.

I'm not hysterically sobbing, you are. that ending snapped me in half and fed me to piranhas goddamn. also, that whole this was hot as hell. Alistair was hot, Cora was hot. id definitely marry both or either them. this might of been my favourite book of the series so far.

This book was such a fun and wild ride! I was giggling and kicking my feet the entire time. Seriously, the banter and tension were everything. Alistair is the perfect morally grey villain you can’t help but fall for, and Cora is the absolute best match for his chaos. She’s fierce, fiery, and holds her own in every scene. Their chemistry was off the charts intense, steamy, and deliciously addictive. I loved every second of their messy, magnetic dynamic. I need more of them immediately!

this book was a HUGE disappointment. i had so many expectations and it met none.
listen, the smut wasn’t even that great.
and i don’t know what happened because all the other books in this series were reaaaally good. this one? nah.
throughout this book there was literally no definite plot line followed. just a bunch of random stuff that happened from time to time. don’t bs me and tell me that the plot was cora looking for her brother cause for a big part of the book i forgot he even existed.
there was a plot twist wannabe at the end, but how can there be a plot twist when there’s no plot at all?
but okay, let’s be honest, i don’t read dark romance only for the plot. and i could have easily turned a blind eye if there had been some decent amount of romance. guess what though: there barely was any.
here’s how romance goes in this book: character a is obsessed with character b from the start, character b doesn’t seem to share the feeling but indulges in sexual activity, hot and cold behaviour and boom, at the end of the book character b suddenly loves a for some unidentified reason.
so to say this book lacks in every area is an understatement.

TERRIBLE WRITING

— characters aren’t well-rounded or interesting
SPOILERS BELOW
— some (at least half) of the spicy scenes have a very uncomfortable vibe to em. there’s a power imbalance and there’s not really a explicit consent. only time she really asks for it is if she’s close to climax (there is an interest on her side bc there’s a m@sturbation scene from her pov but i still feel that there was a lot of dub-con)
— the whole situation w/ her brother is so confusing. i understand having it written in the sense that the reader experiences some of what the mc feels but it’s to the point that i didn’t even know if he was alive until the actual end. its very confusing and hard to follow.
not to mention i don’t feel that his issues (drug abuse, financial struggles, etc.,) were made prevalent enough before the finale? the were find of dropped and used before it was really apparent to the reader that it was even a serious issue and possibly. mc even acknowledges wishing she did more and validated his issues more and stuff so she KNEW they were there. that can’t be used as an excuse for keeping the reader in the dark. honestly just comes off as lazy/bad writing like many of the other things in this
— the marshal being written as one of the main mlm characters and being the villian is weird to me idk. even if that is a reach, i have other reasons to dislike his writing.
1) we already have enough to understand he’s very oddly and heavily attached to the mayor, so writing the subtle changes in his behavior work to show us he might be unhinged.
2) after the car crash, we know he’s shady. as the reader i felt some of what the mc (cora) felt when she doubted herself and what happened. his intentions were bad and even thought it should be obvious the aftermath of the accident makes things blurry, which actually works very well for a while.
3) on top of these, it is revealed that the marshal has pictures of cora EVERYWHERE. even one of her m@sterbating which she finds but he knocks her out with a brick before she can do anything (also this wasn’t mentioned again until the end?? they do not mention this picture until the VERY END. and we know cora did not forget. why did she not say anything?? again, it smells like bad writing to me)
4) attacking the dog was another opportunity to put us onto his trail further. but it wasn’t mentioned or used until the end. even having a detail that informs only the reader would have been perfect. its hard to know who to hate when there still isn’t a CLEAR villian.
5) the sa at the end felt unnecessary to me. i feel it was used for shock value and though it worked, it took any positive thoughts i had on the book and shredded them to bits. like stated above, there is a lot about his character and writing that could have been done better. there isn’t enough to let the reader know tho hate him, and for the sa specifically, there wasn’t any precursor to warn us that his delusions would lead him to do such things. it was terrible to read.
— back to lucian real quick. like i stated above i dont feel personally that their last interactions (which are supposed to be important and tell us more about their bond and him specifically) tell us enough about his addiction and mental health issues. his su!c!de wasn’t really foreshadowed at all. one second he’s on the marshal’s side and okay with his sister being collateral damage (literally dying so his debt can be forgiven) and the next he’s sad and shoots himself. if we were given more to work with and understand, this might have made more sense and felt justified for his character.
— one last thing that really bothered me is that the chemistry (and supposed love) between the mc (cora) and the mayor (alistair) was practically non-existent. it feels more like an on-going infatuation on his side and from hers it doesn’t feel like anything. it would make sense if we were given more of a resigned (but still present love) than what we got from her which was nothing until the end. there was only one scene before that when jonas’s wife came over and she second-guessed leaving. i know it was a somewhat slow burn and f-buddies trope but there was NO chemistry. it was like nails on a chalkboard. i didn’t ever feel and giddy feelings or excitement about them being together.
i know this is an incredibly negative review, and you do not know me as a person but i have been reading my entire life and i have never read another book that equals this level of bad.
hopefully if the author sees this they can keep these issues in mind for their future projects! :)

This is my favorite book in the Monsters & Muses series so far. I loved the story but won’t say too much about it specifically to avoid spoilers. Below are a few of my favorite things about the book.
Alistair: Mayor Wolfe! This man is the perfect combination of Kal & Aiden (ruthless & obsessive). I expected the hunter, but was blown away by the lover. He becomes obsessed with Cora immediately & and never wavers in his attention (even changing the decor in his office & home to match her hair!) He falls first…
Cora: She's just a girl looking for her brother when she stumbles across the Big Bad Wolfe. Alistair pursues her relentlessly & Cora enjoys every minute of it. She makes him work for it and is just enough of a brat to keep things interesting. I loved her character.
These two bring the heat immediately and it stays HOT throughout the whole book.
There are some big plot twists in this book & the ending was crazy!

are we even surprised that i loved this book? sav r miller has had me in a ch0kehold since last year and she continues to grab me with every book she writes. this one did not disappoint at all.
banter between the main leads is my favorite part of any love story, and the banter between cora and alistair had me thriving.
alistair was tough and just the right amount of simp. the way he was so caring and soft for cora🥹 i was indifferent towards his character in oaths and omissions and wow did i underestimate this man! this book made me love him so much i can’t even explain
cora is a baddie that will stop at nothing to get what she wants. she had no problem putting alistair in his place when need be. she knew exactly how to push all of his buttons and that just added to their chemistry. their chemistry together was such a treat to read.
i also love how interconnected the series is. we, of course, got another glimpse of the amazing couple, kal and elena! seeing them in these books is such a treat!

i also love how interconnected the series is. we, of course, got another glimpse of the amazing couple, kal and elena! seeing them in these books is such a treat!
the plot had me sitting on the edge of my seat, constantly asking “omg what’s going to happen next?” i 1000% recommend this book!!

5 motherfing stars as per usual with savs books.
let me just start off by saying that allister and cora were exactly what i’ve wanted in a book couple, with the obsession and the way they were written. it was all just so perfect.
and don’t even get me started on the bisexual rep in this story. this has been what i have wanted and needed in romance books and i love that i am getting it from one of my favorite authors.

Cora & Alastair surprised the heck out of me. I didn’t know what I was expecting for them but they kinda blew me out of the water. Their chemistry, the tension, the spice… everything was great! I liked how strong and determined Cora was. She didn’t take shit from anyone & made that perfectly clear. She’s probably my favorite heroine from this series so far. Alastair was much more then I was expecting from the glimpses we got in the previous book about his brother. I enjoyed getting to dive into his mind and understand him fully.
These two lit the pages on fire. The steamy scenes were amazing! The dirty talk was phenomenal & we even get a DP scene w/ a dildo that was one of the hottest scenes ever. Really enjoyed their relationship so much. Alastair became a SIMP the moment he saw Cora & I loved that. He truly was a man obsessed & I was here for it.
The plot overall was good and I enjoyed it. Lots of surprises and a shocking twist I didn’t really see coming…. And I’m not gonna lie didn’t really enjoy. The secret/twist that comes out at the end of this book was the reason why it wasn’t 5 stars for me. I am not going to spoil it but it’s just not my favorite thing to have involved in a relationship between the h & H. This is teased a little through out the book and before we fully knew everything it was already taking away from the feelings Alastair had/was growing for Cora in my opinion.
Other than that I loved them & this book! I can’t wait to see what comes next.

I wasn’t so sure if I was going to love Alistair as much as I loved Jonas, but I did really enjoy reading more about him. And I was actually really shocked to know Alistair is just as morally grey as his brother if not more, and I loved seeing more of their relationship in this book. The book starts off with a bang regarding the spice and I was like okkk I get the hype about Alistair. He’s so dirty and I’m absolutely HERE for it. I loved their chemistry and relationship, and I definitely did not see the plots towards the end.

So listen… I know I might have said that Elena and Kal were my favorite couple written by sav but CORA AND ALISTAIR?? I’m sorry but they’ve just taken the top spot. Don’t worry Elena and Kallum, you come in close at second place.
Oh my, where do I even start… Alistair… I’m not going to lie he seemed like a MAJOR douche in O&O and I was really hesitant to read about him. But lawd have mercy Alistar did not disappoint, he was SUCH a simp for Cora. I’m talking about enamored since the first exchange/first glance. He was so soft for her and possessive that it made my heart and 🫣😳 tingle. His sweet words and love confessions were everything.
I absolutely loved Cora and her ability to bring Alistair to his knees…literally. Ugh she was such a strong fmc that literally frustrated and amazed me with how hard headed she could be sometimes. I can’t forget mentioning Laurel, what a sweet baby that I would absolutely lay down my life for.
If you’re familiar with Sav’s work then you know she always brings the spice, that she always brings top tier kink, and oh boy did she deliver on this one. I devoured this book and had to force myself not to read it in one setting. Ugh this books was so so good and I was so surprised how much I loved Alistair and Cora.
Easily 5 starts, you NEED to read this when I comes out. Thank you again Sav for a wonderful masterpiece🖤

This series is so freaking good.
Every book just gets better and better, and then building off each other, while still being able to be stand alone…. Absolute perfection.
