This publication presents a historical overview of Ometepe from the first settlers to the end of the 20th century, highlighting the most relevant aspects of each period according to the available information sources. The information collected is presented distributed in chapters that address periods of local and national the first chapter deals with the first settlers and indigenous cultures (2000 BC to 1521 AD), the second chapter exposes the Spanish conquest and colonization (1521- 1821), the third chapter presents the political and economic transition of the 19th century (1821-1900) and the last chapter addresses the transformations that occurred during the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century (1900-2020)
