Say It Again

Daniel Greene’s life is dance. What it is not? Really anything outside of that. He certainly doesn’t know how to hobnob with rich people or play bartender for their rich private parties, so when his best friend guilts him into doing exactly that, it ought to end in disaster. Instead, it ends with him pressed against a bathroom wall while a hot lawyer kisses his grand jeté-ing brains out.

Aaron Silva is the swooniest. He’s gorgeous, he drips in romance, and the sex is transcendent. So what if he would rather be Daniel’s dream man than talk about work? Being an attorney must be tiring. All those late nights. All those needy clients.

It’s not until Daniel enlists Aaron’s help with some legalese that he stumbles into a bit of a quagmire:

Aaron isn’t a lawyer as Daniel originally assumed. He’s a high-end escort.

Suddenly the clouds Daniel was dancing on get awfully stormy. He can’t compete with other men—richer men—and why should he have to? This changes everything. Well, everything except the way they feel about each other. Can he and Aaron find their way to a happy-ever-after that’s not just another happy ending?

Tessa Hatfield

Tessa Hatfield is an award-winning author of gushing yet playful romantic comedy with lovingly flawed characters. Banter is the crème fraîche of her life and her personal love language, but she also pulls inspiration from her former life as a professional dancer, her years spent as a wild Mizzou Tiger, and her love for creating art grounded in imperfect human reality.

When she isn’t crying over her laptop in a coffee shop (which is totally healthy) or smothering her sweet baby boys in kisses (which is always), she can be found working out aggression in Latin dance classes in majestic Colorado, where she lives with her husband and three children.

One hero is an escort and keeps seeing clients for most of the book. Sex-with-them clients. And per reviews, it hurts the other hero. A lot. Nope. (also, reading between the lines of one positive review, this sounds similar to First by KC Wells, in that the sex worker MC doesn't inform the other MC about his job but has sex with him anyway...major Nope. How can you care about someone and not give them a choice about being exposed to all your clients? Unheroic. I guess unless they do talk outright about it being very much an open relationship. Maybe they do. I'll never know.)

I will admit to being curious how/why this is marketed and touted as a rom-com with that dynamic though.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️/5
Format: ebook

“Promises all made in earnest, raw with imperfections. All real. All unified by three simple words. ‘Say it again.’”

I don’t usually ever feel the need to justify my ratings, but I feel like this is a book that might call for it. And I’m going to try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible.

This is a book that made me kind of sit and ponder, and come to a conclusion that I can vehemently disagree with a lot of the actions of a main character and still rate it five stars. Because the emotions that this book pulled out of me, even if some of them were decidedly very negative, don’t allow me to rate this anything lower.

And the thing is, the author did such a great job writing these characters and making them so layered and multi-dimensional that I could understand where both Aaron and Daniel were coming from.

Firstly, I absolutely adored the comedic aspects of this book. It had me laughing my ass off from the first page to the last. I don’t think I’d necessarily classify this book as a romcom, because it became very angsty and I wasn’t expecting it based on that classification. But I did enjoy all the laughs and humor, and appreciated that there were still a lot of lighthearted moments even in the midst of the rougher times.

I loved both Daniel and Aaron. Daniel was sweet and funny and so unapologetically himself. He had so much heart and I wouldn’t change a single thing about him. Aaron had so much love to give and his sweetness and his caring towards Daniel were everything. I loved his need to take care of Daniel, especially when we learn where it stems from.

Aaron made a lot of mistakes that hurt Daniel, but I also feel like I totally get why he feels the need to bury himself in piles and piles of financial security. And I don’t believe at all he would ever do it maliciously. It just took him a bit of time to rearrange his priorities. We also have to remember the timeline of the book, and that even though Aaron and Daniel move very fast, they’re not actually together very long - about two months if I’m recalling correctly. So I think Aaron taking two months to map out a new life in his head when he wasn’t planning to isn’t that crazy.

If you can’t tell, I feel very deeply for these characters and would go to war for them. I hate some of the things they did and said—that one scene made me physically ill—but I do believe they complement each other well and deserved the HEA they fought hard for.

Again, just because things happened in this book I didn’t agree with, I still think it deserves the rating I gave it. I love when a book is written well enough to make me feel such strong emotions, even if they’re sometimes negative.

I also want to commend this author for writing a book I’ve truly never read before. This plot, these characters, the choices they made… all were new and exciting to me. I never knew what was going to happen next and I loved the way I didn’t ever want to put this book down. I was immersed and addicted.

This is for sure going to be a book I reread many times. I just had so much fun with them.

*I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.

Y'ALL! OMG! Say It Again by @tessamhatfieldwrites has to be one of the best romcoms I've read in a while, definitely one of my top romcom reads this year. It's funny, irreverent, fast-paced, and freaking SWOONY 🫠. It's like a combination of Pretty Woman and Boyfriend Material maybe? Tons of banter, excellent side characters, it really has everything! I read almost the entire thing on a flight because I couldn't put it down, and I need everyone else to read it too.

Daniel is a such a gem. He's a struggling dancer with a wicked sense of humor and a heart of gold, and he absolutely deserved to find love. I loved all of his shenanigans and ridiculous jokes, but he also really wants to succeed doing what he loves. Though I was pretty suspicious of Aaron from the start, I desperately wanted to like him. He's exactly what Daniel needs, and he clearly wants him from the moment he meets him - it's a pretty intense and chemistry-filled meet cute 😮‍💨. Y'all, Aaron might be one of the most romantic MMCs I've read - other than the fact that he's a professional escort and continues to work as one throughout his relationship with Daniel. He's caring and attentive, says the sweetest things (I want someone to call me "dazzling" or “precious” over and over!), and he desperately wants to make Daniel happy. And whew, the spice! Though it's not super explicit, it's incredibly well-written, and I definitely had to hide my Kindle screen a bit on the plane 😏.

I loved every moment of this book, even the super angsty bits at the end (not to worry, it quickly turns into a lovely HEA). Basically, reading this book I was either laughing out loud, ugly crying, or fanning myself constantly. I'm SO grateful to Tessa Hatfield for reaching out to me about reading this one, such a great read!

4.5 Stars 😊

This... this was such a rollercoaster I think I'm going to need a day to recover (but in such a good way!) 🤤

TBH the first quarter of the book was a little slow for me BUT, that's just me. What I normally read is p*rn level smut (I have issues) that's already well underway by chapter 3 (🙄) so this was a little different for me. But, as soon as I adjusted myself, I absolutely fell into this book, into their story and in to their love.

Daniel & Aaron are 2 phenomenal characters that just melted my heart with everything they went through. Best of all, neither fall into any kind of 'typical' MC character I've read before and it was so refreshing to read something/someone so new.

I had no idea how this would play out. I knew it was a HEA but the 'how they got there'? Nothing predictable about it whatsoever. As for their HEA - my God do they go through it to get there. Like how much can 2 people actually go through before they finally break?! Poor babies! But these ups & downs are what make them, shows them (and us as readers) just what they are to each other and love really does concur all. While the ups and downs had me smiling, screaming and holding my breath so so much and, by around 80% I swear I was ready to start a revolution if these 2 didn't end up together (!), there is also a lot of fun in this. I would love to know just how Daniels mind works, simply to see where all that comes out of his mouth actually comes from 🤯. Adorable man that he is, Aaron stole my heart that little bit more than Daniel. He's so lost, so desperate to provide for everyone that he forgets himself and, as a result, almost destroys the 1 thing he wants so desperately (I'll stop there or I'll go in to spoilers). The fact that he cuts off the emotional side as an Escort but opens himself up with Daniel is just stunning. STUNNING people!!!

So much happens in this book and I didn't see any of it coming, seriously - nothing at all! And that kept me turning (the metaphorical kindle) page until stupid o'clock last night, right up until this morning. Just over 24 hours to finish this? I'm calling that a personal best for me!

Please give this a read, the last quarter of the book alone is stonkingly good. I even sat in the car park in work this morning just to finish it off, that means 1 less coffee today people!!

P.S. F-you Corey! Absolute arsehole!

I received an ARC of this book direct from the author and this is my honest review

✨✨✨✨✨🪄✨✨✨✨✨
My heart has been broken and put back together wrapped in a fresh beautiful dialogue, impeccable writing. I laughed until I couldn't breath, I cried until I couldn't breath. And then my breath came free. This book. Top shelf, top marks, top experience.

Hello Tessa Hatfield, I'm so happy to have come across your book. Thank you for all the feelings you brought out in me. I loved every second. And I loved Daniel, so much. And Aaron needed a Daniel, so much

Thoughts as reading...
Busy busy writing, but so cute. Being inside Daniel's head is a joy. Chuckling. My brain needed wrangling in order to get with it and understand what I'm reading.
"But he wasn't an Aaron. He was a Daniel, a rodent with a meth problem..."
🤣
Seriously, it's been a while since I've had to really pay attention while reading as not to miss a word. So.freaking.funny.
The side thoughts are classic comedy. (And I'm only 10% in)
*I adore the premise of this book. Absolutely. Sexy sex worker/escort meets Dancer hurricane/mess/cute-as-f*CK/witty ball of fire.
Aaron being a sex worker and Daniel's struggle to accept it. Both their struggles for a better life. The raging intimacy they share and omfg, the way they express it.
This book is a master class at behavior and word lacing.
OMFG, THIS IS PERFECT
hate/rage/angry f*cking while in a fight, perfection.
@80% I am crying my heart out😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Aaaaand I can finally breath.
This was perfect.
*On my to buy wishlist. I need this in print, in my hands.💯♥️✨✨✨✨✨

Omg it eas so heartbreaking and cute at the same time.
Having a partner who’s a current escort is NOT for the weak, certainly something I couldn’t handle.
Imagine meeting the love of your life but he’s an escort and doesn’t want to quit? That’s basically what happened with Daniel and Aaron.
Aaron’s escort history and backstory also made you sympathetic towards him and understand how it’s not easy just to up and leave the moment you enter a relationship.

Their relationship was so REAL. Their conversation were so authentic and flirty is so smooth and realistic, they’re conversation zi could’ve had in my life.

Who was hiding this gem from me??? The plot isn’t everyone’s tea, but I loved how unpredictable it was, it’s so unique to anything i’ve read this entire year.

It had been a while since I’ve read something that made me go crazy for the next chapter. Was such a yummy read. 5/5 for sure.

I started this book in the morning and finished it around 5:30pm, THATS how addicting this book was!

Without giving much away. It follows Daniel and Aaron in this spicy rom com of a story about finding love, finding yourself, and how love truly conquers all.

My only critique and it’s a personal preference is that there is a miscommunication trope but it wasn’t so bad to knock the rating down!

"You're so cute, but you're an angry toddler tornado."

I can't rave enough about how much fun this read was
There is some angst and no you can't look ahead
Trust our anxiety-ridden "tarty little emperor" and the process

"I'm so bubbleheaded, irresponsibly, head-over-Christian-Louboutin-heels in love with that man"

Daniel didn't want to play bartender but it was his bestie asking; so there he was speechless and unable to process the simplest of tasks because standing before him was a living breathing god!
One who wanted a drink
Someone ,who unbeknownst to him in that moment ,would change his world forever

This was just fun!
I know I am repeating myself but it was!
All the fun with only light drama llama
One of those reads that draws you in, and has you feeling like you know everyone -
The kind that makes you yell at the character only to, after the fact, realize they are fictitious.
One that has you laughing at their little slips and quips

I promise you will laugh -
Swoon, because Aaron is just that romantic -
Get angry, this is where we trust the process -
Need to fan yourself, because the heat level between these two is inferno level hot!
Want to stay with them in their little bubble of wonderful, long after the final page
This ends on an HEA with a complete wrap up

I did not want this book to end. I love it soooooo much! It had me laughing, crying and swooning!!! Daniel and Aaron are soooo perfect for each other! Tessa’s writing is sooo entertaining! I had no idea which way this story would go, but I was hanging onto every word she wrote! I loved it so much.

💓Hidden/Mistaken Identity
🕺Dancer
💓Pretty Woman Vibes
🕺Spicy Fun
💓Adorable Nicknames

I was rooting for Daniel, crying for him, wanting everything to work out. He had dreams he wanted to accomplish and was determined to achieve them. And never did he think someone like Aaron would swoop in and take care of him, these two are so swoony together!!! And soooo perfect together!

I legit was on the edge of my seat with this book. Up until the end I had no idea which way it would go. I found myself yelling at each of them at times, telling them to get it together! Wanting to climb in the book and hug them. No two characters are better suited for one another, and yet they kept pushing each other away and then pulling each other back, soooo fantastic! A absolute MUST Read!!!

I'm absolutely torn on this one. It should have been a romcom, and it was funny sometimes, yet it was also painful and sad. Half the time I didn't know what to think. Yes, Aaron was swoony, romantic, and sweet, and yet for more than a half of the story he was hurting Daniel. I just can't get over it. Great narration by Patrick Mealey, btw.

I could not love this story more. Okay, maybe if it came with champagne and chocolate dipped fruit, but we'll call that an unreasonable expectation.

Tessa's writing is fantastic. The story pulls you in immediately and flows so quick and steady you have no choice but to let it bring you along for the ride. And what a friggin ride it is!

Daniel is so easy to love. He's snarky and sassy and a bit up in his feelings, but he's also comfortable in his skin and far more put together than you'd expect from the hot mess he outwardly portrays. He's living on his terms, and doing what he loves, despite the challenges it brings (on several fronts), and it's impossible not to respect him for it.

Aaron comes across as a man with everything figured out. Gorgeous and successful, he commands the room. Everyone wants a piece of him, and they can have one - for the right price. You don't expect him to be an onion in Tom Ford, but he's layered so finely, so delicately, that by the time you hit "the end" you'll be feeling like someone's slicing a shallot right next to your head. I adore emotionally fractured characters, and Aaron is goddamn perfection.

As a writer, Tessa has an amazing gift for making you laugh while she's ripping your heart out of your chest. Both characters are impeccably crafted, with unique voices, and realistic struggles. You root for them while wanting to smack them upside the head. Then you light up a smoke and bask in the afterglow, because the chemistry is so. freaking. hot.

If you appreciate amazing storytelling and characters that jump off the page, then you need this book in your life. Like yesterday. Go forth and order!

*I received this as an ARC from the author, and this review is my honest to God opinion.

4.25 stars!

I have a love-hate relationship with this book but in a good way. I loved the angst but I hated how hurt Daniel was most of the time. I think this is my first encounter with a book where the sex worker was the wealthy character. Aaron was rich and he earned it. Then there's nothing more precious than Daniel getting spoiled rotten by Aaron. The way he just melted with Aaron's gestures and acts of love. And he deserved all of it! But my oh my AARON SILVA I'M GONNA STRANGLE YOU YOUNG MAN! I hated the lies! How's he standing there letting poor little Daniel believe all of that? I would understand if Daniel just up and left. I gotta give it to Daniel for sticking with Aaron and just trying to understand his means of living because he's just nuts over him. Daniel had a lot of chances to walk but he fucking stayed what a martyr. The thing is Aaron did love Daniel but he couldn't just prioritize him over money for a while because he thought money would solve all of his problems. Having money and providing for Daniel was how Aaron showed his love. But that was his undoing because it ended up jeopardizing his relationship with Daniel. It's a fresh approach from the author how Daniel didn't just walk away when things got tough. And that Aaron didn't quit being an escort after they got together. It's interesting how they navigated their relationship as Aaron continued job. Most books would probably have someone like Aaron stop escorting midway. But Daniel just loved Aaron that much. Daniel tried, really tried until he got tired. Only then did Aaron finally woke up. I love it. Daniel's pain broke my heart. My gosh. Sorry for the wall of text but I just gotta let this all out.

Sometimes you stumble onto a book and it becomes your favorite thing in the world. And that's exactly what happened with me and Say It Again! This book was the cause of many early morning giggle sessions and squeals, and I don't have a single regret. It's one of those books that makes you yearn for the moment you'll start reading again, and that's a magical feeling. If you're looking for the perfect romance to read this summer, this is it!

Say It Again follows Daniel and Aaron. The former is a ballet dancer, the latter is a high-end escort. Their chance encounter at a party sets the sparks flying immediately, but there's only one problem: Daniel thinks Aaron is a lawyer, and when the truth comes out...well, let the games begin!

It has been a while since I've felt so many emotions reading a book. First of all, the main characters are an extreme delight. Daniel is one of the messiest, funniest, sassiest protagonists I've ever had the pleasure of meeting in a book, and he was so relatable with a lot of his dreams, his struggles and his insecurities. But what I love most about him? He is LOUD! Loud in his individuality and in the way he lives his passions and love. And then we have Aaron, the single most wonderful protective man, hiding his insecurities behind a nearly impenetrable mask made of smiles and kindness. These two have insane chemisty, the kind that makes you laugh (seriously, Tessa Hatfield is a queen of writing banter!) but that also makes you suffer. This relationship is a rollercoaster--beautiful, but not without its hurdles. Aaron does his best to be exactly what Daniel needs, and Daniel does his best to accept Aaron exactly the way he is. But up until the end of the book, guessing how their story will end is impossible! All I can say is that the ride is worth it, with all its layers, all its parts, all its players.

Needless to say, I've found a new favorite author, and I highly encourage you to give this book a shot if you love romance filled with banter like Red White and Royal Blue, with the most wonderful queer protagonists and ALL THE FEELS.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC to review. Opinions are entirely my own.

“I’d rather be penniless”

When Daniel’s best friend needs some help with her hot mess of a side hustle, and he is so broke he takes the job, when said best friend has a pet emergency and ditches him. Well, toot-toot full steam ahead on the hot mess express. Daniel is barely making ends meet, and hardly a functioning adult. But when a goddess of a man lays the most mind melting kiss on him and ask for his number he folds pretty easily [and not just because he was just that flexible], Aaron Silva has swept this dancer right off his feet. But wait there's more, his mentor and studio owner lays a huge, shocking surprise right into his lap, she wants him to buy her studio, all his dreams are starting to come true, only sweet Daniel can’t have his perfect man, and perfect career, oh no there must be bumps in his journey. But will his sensitive soul survive the ride or will it all slip through his tiny dancer fingers?

Money is power, money makes people stay, at least that is what Aaron has always believed. He’d stumbled onto a career that took little effort, made him lots of money, but lacked realism. At least until he met a whitty, dazzling, tiny dancer, who was not to be mixing drinks at this high end party. Aaron barged himself into Daniel’s life, and he wasn’t going to let him go. Until Daniel asked for a favor, with his line of work this wasn’t uncommon, but asking to look over a contract wasn’t at all the kind of favor he was expecting. He was in too deep, feelings had formed. He couldn’t lose Daniel but the truth about Aaron’s career, may shatter his precious tiny dancer. Can Aaron reveal his truth, and get his happily ever after?

Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

TESSA, grounded! Buckle up, pull that lap bar down tight, and hold the heck on because what a roller coaster of a book you are about to read! My words can’t do this book true justice, you will laugh, swoon, possibly tear up, want to slap some fictional characters, and also want to hold them so tight and never let the world touch their delicate souls. This is Tessa debut novel, and I know it won’t be everyones cup of tea but if it is please find me when you read it we must talk!!

There’s nothing like reading a romance that you have fun reading but at the same time makes you feel like your heart could be pulverized at any moment. This is what happened with SAY IT AGAIN. It was beautiful and intense, and I really want to add it to my trophy shelf because it was just that good, but the paperback is not available online. Why am I cursed? Whatever, I’m patient…ish. But I digress.

This is a M/M romance starring Daniel and Aaron. Daniel is a professional ballet dancer, and when he meets Aaron at a party, sparks fly. The only problem is that Daniel is under the impression that Aaron is an attorney. Except he’s not. He’s a high-end escort, and well…accepting it takes some adjustment. Now you see why I was giddy and holding my breath at the same time? This is top tier Romance drama.

The best part about this book—aside from Aaron’s incredible dirty mouth—was the instant chemistry and banter between Aaron and Daniel. Some of their interactions made me laugh so loud my nose hurt after the snort that ripped out of me. I also adore how the two complement each other. Daniel is such a sweetheart, something that Aaron appreciates and he shows it every time he calls him “sweet boy.”

Review of Say It Again by Tessa Hatfield
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I received an ARC of Say It Again and holy moly! Wow! Wow wow wow wow wow! I'm honestly a little speechless after finishing this.
I haven't read a rom com like this in a long time. It was so funny, so heartfelt, so raw, so human. I laughed, I cried. I'm pretty sure I screamed "No no no no no!" a few times.
I can't honestly believe this is her first book. I honestly feel that this book is up there with books written by Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez. The banter is incredible but the story is so deep and nuanced. Just an absolute masterpiece.
If you read just one book that I recommended this year, this should be it. Absolutely incredible!

Oh my gosh did I love this book! Between Daniel and Aaron's banter, the right amount of schmexy time and the 3 times my stomach dropped, it is an easy 5 star from me. There were many times I laughed out loud at Daniel. He had me giggling so much. Aaron could be so dang swoony. Rom Coms sometimes are a miss for me but once I got to know their personalities I enjoyed this so much. I really liked the deeper emotions their story brought out of me and it helped me connect to them and their love story on a more fulfilling level.

This book is going to be the death of me! I was so engrossed in one chapter that I didn’t realize I had stepped too far to the left on the treadmill and almost fell off! I was drinking hot tea when a well-timed idiom mix-up had me choking. In short, “Say It Again” is funny! It’s not just hilarious, it is so full of emotion that if you are not bent over in laughter, you are fanning your face to keep the tears from streaking your cheeks while reading it in public and receiving sidelong glances.

Daniel Greene has enjoyed the pleasure that dance has offered for over twenty years. The expression, the freedom, the desires one fluid movement can evoke are intoxicating. Unfortunately, despite all that dance has to offer, a sustainable lifestyle and decent income aren’t at the top of the list. Making the most of his life as a dance instructor at St. Louis School of Dance, Daniel ignores the constant whispers of his disapproving father and pours all he has into working with his students. He also tries to avoid his best friend’s off-the-cuff requests to help with her business venture, After The Pumpkin. Failing to avoid her latest request to help at a party, Daniel somehow finds himself behind the bar, with zero bartending experience, staring into the most icy blue eyes he has ever seen. Thrown off his game and feeling foolish, Daniel can’t believe it when the gorgeous lawyer asks him out on a date. Lady Luck doesn’t stop there; his mentor offers him a chance of a lifetime, to buy the dance studio he has loved since he was 18! Unprepared for the sudden turn of events in his life, Daniel must decide if he is ready to grow up and make the most of the sudden gifts coming his way.

Aaron may not have the most conventional job in the world (understatement of the century), but it affords him a comfortable lifestyle and the opportunity to pursue his real passion, interior design. It doesn’t, however, make room for deep, meaningful relationships. If the men in his life aren’t clients, they are only interested in getting a taste of what his clients are offered. They don’t want to know him, just what he can do between the sheets. So when Aaron encounters Daniel at a house party that he is attending with a client, he can’t believe his luck. Finally, he may have met someone with whom he can build something real. His intuition is correct, and he quickly finds himself falling more and more for Daniel. That is until Daniel asks him to review a contract for a potential business deal, seeing that he is a “lawyer” after all. Suddenly, Aaron’s world is turned upside down as he struggles to reveal his true self to Daniel without losing the first person who has completely captured his heart.

The humor in “Say It Again” was off the charts. I think if all of us had an ounce of Daniel’s personality and sass, we would be happier people! His use, or rather misuse, of idioms were the essence of this book for me. Alongside him, the overall array of characters undoubtedly added a special charm, from his best friend Olivia, to the wise and wonderful Madeline, to Aaron. Even in the short time that we interact with secondary characters, it feels as if we know them and understand their importance in Daniel’s life, or feel the absence of someone that significant in Aaron’s.

Speaking of Aaron, dear sweet Aaron – you couldn’t help but love him, feel for him, and want the best for him. All he wanted was to love and be loved. He had so much affection and passion inside him, and his only ask in life was to be allowed to love someone, to show them love, and maybe – just maybe – feel that love, need, and want returned. When you can empathize with a character this intensely, you know you have a good story on your hands from a writer that can make three-dimensional characters anyone can relate to.

One thing I’ll admit, the “mister/kid” terms of endearment had too much of a daddy/baby girl vibe for me. While it’s not really my thing and initially created a bit of a cringe factor, I am not one to yuck on anyone’s yum but thought I would mention it, just in case. I do appreciate Daniel explaining why he called Aaron “mister” but kinda wish Aaron provided a reason he called Daniel “kid,” especially when there was only a three-year age difference.

While I loved the characters Tessa created, I will say the structure of the book is what made this a five-star review for me. My favorite type of books are the ones that make me nervous. It means it isn’t following the standard formula, so I can’t predict what is going to happen, especially if the fallout has happened earlier in the story. Tessa did an excellent job with this. Each time you thought the worst was over – they overcame it, were stronger for it, and nothing could keep them apart. At about 68%, I was on pins and needles. I just kept waiting for the other shoe to drop because she had already proven wishful thinking was for chumps and there was no way she was going to make it smooth sailing for the remainder of the book!

Tessa balanced the steam in this book very well. While it was spicy, it wasn’t smutty. Although Daniel definitely walked the edge, the moments they were together were more about the feelings and connections provoked than a description of what was actually going down.

I will preface this by saying I am not a crier; in fact, out of the hundreds of books I have read, while some have come close – only Abby Jimenez and AK Landow have made me shed tears, until now. You will need a box of Kleenex. It may not be the same experience for others who read it, but for me, I was so entwined with these characters, there was no way to win the emotional turmoil the book was taking on me, I was going down. The author did an amazing job with her character development that you didn’t feel like a friend or an observer; you were them – you were in their heads and their hearts, embodying their thoughts and their feelings; you hurt when they hurt, you broke when they broke, and when Aaron finally had his moment, there would be no saving you from crumbling like a sandcastle when the tide comes in.

I can’t believe this is Tessa Hatfield’s first book! She has come out of the gate strong and I hope she keeps up the momentum. I can’t wait to read what she writes next. Topping this one will be a challenge but with her talent, I strongly believe she can do it!

5⭐ Because this book made me laugh so hard. The banter was phenomenal, especially Daniel's. He was hilarious. Great job for a debut book.
3⭐I did have a hard time with Aaron and the way he treated Daniel at certain points in the story.

Daniel Green is many things. A phenomenal dancer. Fantastic teacher. Awesome friend and wingman. But, as he finds out when he helps best friend Olivia with a cater-waiter assignment, mixing drinks is not his forte. He may even be the world’s worst bartender.
He still manages to catch the eye of a party guest they dub “the hot lawyer.”
Daniel and Aaron have a funnysillysexy first date, with Aaron confessing he doesn’t want to rush into a physical relationship. But when Daniel later asks Aaron for legal advice he discovers how wrong he was about Aaron’s successful career…
That’s the setup for the entertaining Say It Again by @tessamhatfieldwrites
I loved Daniel. He had the biggest heart, wonderful sense of humor, and must be protected at all costs! Even as he supports Aaron’s choice to be an escort, the closer they become, the harder it is for Daniel to accept sharing him. I loved this point: you can love and support someone and still feel resentment and jealousy. I totally got Daniel’s feelings, and felt for him.
Aaron has his reasons for not wanting to quit, even as he and Daniel become engaged. I understood, but admit to being frustrated with Aaron on Daniel’s behalf. He wanted Daniel to give him everything, but couldn’t see how much he was hurting the man he asked to marry him - but hasn’t yet said he loves.
There’s a brutal fight where Daniel turns the tables on Aaron that leads to an angry, passionate confrontation. But Aaron almost loses Daniel for good when his refusal to chose him leads to a heartbreaking decision.
This book had some lovely romcom elements, but really put those men through the ringer: Daniel desperately trying to secure a line to purchase the dance studio he loves. And Aaron, trying to prioritize what matters, torn over how much he’s willing to give up for love, and what that life would look like.
It was so good, with so beautifully written. Once Aaron takes stock and realizes what really matters, he goes into full on romantic hero mode. It’s beautiful. And the flash forward epilogue, which gives us a glimpse of what happens after the HEA, is glorious.

I generally dislike leaving negative reviews on books, but I have very strong feelings about Say It Again.

To start, I have MAJOR beef with the internet stranger upon whose recommendation I read this book. Did they, along with every other reviewer, read a completely different story than the one I just finished? Because ~what the fuck~??

This is NOT A ROM COM. Does it feature a romantic relationship? Yes. Does it have comedic elements? Also yes. Does that make it a rom com? Absolutely not. To put it simply, rom coms are supposed to make you feel good. This book made me feel BAD. For most of its duration.

This book does such a disservice to Daniel. Daniel is, in any other context, basically a perfect romance MC. He has personality and sparkle and a little bit of backstory and so much capacity to give and receive love. He’s a scrappy, chaotic, artistic underdog, and I wanted him to have his perfect love story SO BADLY.

Instead, he gets stuck with Aaron, whose entire character arc is simply villainous. Yes, he is (according to every single character) the single sexiest and hottest man alive. But who gives a damn? Because he also lies and cheats (it’s cheating!! escorting counts as cheating, especially when your partner doesn’t know about it, BUT ALSO IF THEY DO!!) and is generally a toxic money-obsessed asshole. There were SO many points in this book where I thought, “Surely the big climactic moment where Daniel stands up for himself and rightfully leaves this dickwad is just around the corner.” There were *at least three* separate occasions where that SHOULD have happened, AND ALMOST DID, and the fact that it didn’t felt… personally offensive? It was frustrating and painful and icky.

The HEA here feels undeserved and wrong. I will, however, give two whole stars simply because the writing’s pretty good and Daniel is a sweetie pie. But otherwise, I wish I could unexperience this book. I hate when books sell me on a fairy tale and deliver nonsense.

I loved Say It Again SO much, it was unique and fun, but also emotional.

This is a story about a professional dancer, Daniel, who meets a high-end escort, Aaron—who he initially thought to be a lawyer. The two hit it off instantly, feeling a connection difficult to ignore. In Aaron, Daniel found someone supportive of his career choices, even though he still struggled to make ends meet, someone who accepted him 100% even when he had been made to think of himself as being too much. In return, Daniel brought to Aaron the unconditional love that had been missing from his life, one that isn't about money or financial stability. The two couldn't be more opposite, but they balanced each other so well.

I loved how Tessa brought their story to life; it was full of banter—Daniel is the absolute best—but there were some moments so raw and intense that tugged at my heartstrings so much. There were so many conflicting emotions in this book; from Aaron's struggle of trying to unlearn his pattern of throwing money at problems because he grew up equalling money to love, to Daniel who tried so hard to be supportive of Aaron's occupation, but ultimately ended up dimming some of his light for Aaron's sake until it became too much to bear.

These characters will stay with me for a long time and that's the best thing I can say about any book.
Thank you so much Tessa for allowing me to read your work ahead of time, I truly appreciate you ❤️

Say it Again by Tessa Hatfield is the first book I’m reading by this author. I absolutely fell in love with the book blurb so I knew I had to read it. I finished this so fast, I could not put my kindle down, I was addicted to every chapter I was reading. This book was incredible for multiple reasons. For the rollercoaster of emotions I went on from giggling to wanting to tear up then there’s amazing characters that you can’t help but love and find something to relate to. I loved Daniel’s sense of humor and his drive in wanting to succeed. Then there’s Aaron who was sweet, romantic but it was his drive to make Daniel happy that won my heart. I was rooting for them wholeheartedly. One of my favorite aspects of this book was the banter, it was top tier. The spice wasn’t bad either, nothing hardcore…just the right amount in my opinion. The writing was great as I could really connect with the characters. The descriptions in the book made me feel like I was a part of this world. The plot just draws you in and keeps your attention to the very last page. I’m eager to read more books from Tessa Hatfield in the future. I highly recommend this book if you love yourself a good RomCom. Overall I had such an amazing time reading it. Two thumbs up as high as I can raise my arms.

I have so many words and no words at all after reading this book.

I LOVED every page of this book. Period.

Daniel, the broke dance instructor. Sassy, happy, weird, lovable 25 yo who eats when he has the money for it. He meets Aaron at a party and thinks he's an attorney. Little does he know that Aaron is a high-end escort. They pretty fast establish a relationship that's based on 'half truths' and 'I didn't know's'. When he finally finds out, what Aaron does for a living, the relationship starts to change.

Aaron, the escort. Romatic, loveable, so very into Daniel but he has a job that's not really great for a relationship. He can't give it up though. He needs the money, the security, the benefits to 'provide' for Daniel and their future. At least that's what he's telling himself. And Daniel.

What happens, when Daniel unfortunatley meets some of Aaron's clients and especially one client who is very different to the older gentlemen, he normally calls his clients.

Okay so here's the thing. Aaron is the most loving, caring, attentive boyfriend one can wish for. But his 'dedication' to his job is a hard pill to swallow for Daniel.

There is angst in the book, you all can imagine. I bawled my eyes out!
There are so many hot, cute, swoonworthy moments too.

And yes, they will have their HEA <3

I would give this book 6 stars if I could.

I loved it!

Say It Again is a delightful and swoon-worthy romance that takes readers on an unexpected journey through the worlds of dance and desire. Daniel Greene is a passionate dancer who finds himself reluctantly navigating the world of high society, only to end up in a steamy encounter with the charismatic Aaron Silva. Their chemistry is electric, and the way Hatfield captures their connection is nothing short of mesmerizing.

Aaron, with his charming allure and hidden depths, is the perfect counterbalance to Daniel's artistic spirit. The revelation that Aaron is a high-end escort adds an intriguing layer of complexity to their relationship, forcing Daniel to confront his insecurities and societal expectations. Hatfield expertly explores themes of love, self-worth, and the true meaning of happiness in a way that feels both authentic and relatable.

With a captivating plot, engaging characters, and plenty of steamy moments, Say It Again is a charming tale that proves love can flourish in the most unexpected places. Readers will find themselves cheering for Daniel and Aaron as they dance their way toward a love that transcends all boundaries. This book is a must-read for anyone looking for a fresh take on romance!.

This book was a delightful rollercoaster of emotions for me. I loved it! I was so invested in the two main characters, Aaron and Daniel. I loved that they were flawed, made mistakes, bumbled through things. I was rooting for them like they were my best friends! Rom com books and movies usually have a fairly predictable plot, but not this one. I really didn’t know how it was going to turn out for Aaron and Daniel. And I loved finding out! (Can I rewind time and read the last 60 pages for the first time again??)

The author did an amazing job of adding levity to intense scenes, and I found myself laughing out loud while also holding my breath and hoping everything would work out. I don’t want to give too much away, but the story arch of Aaron is deeply moving. I especially loved his humanity.

Usually I finish a book and then pick another up within an hour, but with this one, I found myself not wanting to let the characters go, wanting more of their story. It was a rom com book that made me think more deeply about things too. Love that about this book!

When is the next of her books released???? I want more!

Everyone needs at least one person in their life like Daniel. He's fun, sweet, caring, attentive, wants someone to really love him. But he's also kind of all over the place at times emotionally. Go big or go home... at times. Aaron is a very well paid escort. Something he's done for years and loves the money and security it brings. Being used for sex sometimes isn't okay. Depends on the guy. Seeing cute, adorable, sexy Daniel at the bar, has Aaron pausing his "job" for a few minutes so he can meet him. A sexy, mind melting kiss at the party leaves both wanting for more.

But there's a slight complication... Daniel thinks Aaron is a lawyer. When he finally admits his real job, falls in love with Daniel, but can't say the words, things get angsty between the two. A firm declaration from Daniel has Aaron realizing just what and who he's giving up if he continues being an escort.

Loved Daniel! Their banter and puns are hilarious! Aaron really wants and needs someone as bright and dazzling as Daniel! We all do!.

DNF @ 15%.

I saw “escort” and wanted to give this a try.

Only, Aaron pursues Daniel, convinces him to dump his BF, asks him out, takes him on a date, tells him he wants to take is slow and wants a long term relationship, declares them as dating… and doesn’t disclose that he is an escort and will still be seeing and sleeping with clients while pursing a long term relationship with Daniel.

In fact, when Daniel asks him about the guy Daniel saw Aaron with at the party, who Aaron made out with right in front of Daniel, he is elusive and says he is a friend of sorts.

And when asked about his work (while Daniel is assuming he is a lawyer), Aaron says he doesn’t want to talk about his work.

Assuming Aaron thinks Daniel knows what he does for work, telling him about Cory vs being elusive would have made more sense. Assuming Aaron doesn’t think Daniel knows what he does for work, than he is being purposefully deceitful.

I love a book with positive sex work rep, but I don’t think I’ll be that here when Aaron doesn’t think a potential partner needs to know he is and will be having sex with other men for money.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I was immediately interested because there is a male ballerina on the cover, and I’ve never read a MM romance where one of the MCs is a dancer. Daniel is so funny and dramatic but also incredibly sweet and loving. He has an immediate connection with Aaron (love the meet cute at a party that his bestie roped him into helping her cater). Their chemistry is fire, Aaron is super hot, and they both want a relationship. He sounds so perfect…until Daniel learns what he does for a living and they try to navigate how to be a couple. I love the inverted dynamic of both characters agreeing to jump straight into a relationship and then trying to figure out how to make their lives mesh vs. spending the whole book falling for each other and only admitting it at the end, leaving readers to imagine how their hea works in everyday life. Add in the separate trauma they are both dealing with from childhood/family dynamics and it feels real and honest. I love how they pushed each other to be the best versions of themselves and how everything wrapped up. Well worth purchasing on Kindle or paperback.
