The Holman Christian Standard Bible is a solid translation, in my amateur opinion. This version is lovely and enjoyable to read. It has little writings interspersed throughout. They have a daily devotional kind of feel to them, which isn’t my cup of tea.
On the other hand, the timeline and historical references were really top-notch and added quite a bit to my understanding. I’ll definitely read this one again.
