Midnight The best and the worst thing happened to me when I was nineteen. I became the father to two beautiful twin girls, but it tied me to their mother. I never thought I would trust a woman again until I met her. Lainey. She’s everything I should stay away from. Young, gorgeous, and comes with a lot of baggage. Not only does she work at my tattoo shop, but she is also my twin’s nanny. So why can’t I leave her alone?
Lainey My only goal in life is to survive. When I walked into the Lotus MC club that night, that was the only thought on my mind. I had no idea what I was getting into until I met him. Midnight. Not only is he offering me a life raft, but there’s more to him than the grumpy persona he puts on. When his life is thrown for a loop, I offer to jump in and help him. Afterall, he is my attractive boss who I owe my life to.
Cala Riley, better known as Cala and Riley, are a pair of friends with a deep seated love of books and writing. Both Cala and Riley are happily married and each have children, Cala with the four-legged kind while Riley has a mixture of both two-legged and four. While they live apart, that does not affect their connection. They are the true definition of family. What started as an idea that quickly turned into a full-length book and a bond that will never end.
You guys aren’t ready for this couple and this book… omg obsessed.
I have been waiting for Midnight’s book since reading Reaper’s and let me tell you the wait was worth it. The sparks between Midnight and Lainey, the connection between Lainey and the twins, the plot, all of it was absolutely fantastic. Like literally Cala Riley could literally write anything and I would eat it up.
One thing I’m a sucker for in single parent books is when their love interest creates such a bond with their kid(s). Lainey and the twins connection was spectacular. You could tell that not only the girls needed that relationship in their life so did Lainey.
I never thought I would say this but my favorite has officially been replaced. Move over Reaper… Midnight is here 💜
Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Trope: single dad Angst: 😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another fantastic story in the Lotus MC series! Ball buster FMCs are my favorite, but occasionally I love a sweet innocent heroine and lany totally fit the bill. She is a super sweet, down on her luck girl who really needed Midnight to come and sweep her off her feet and give a girl a hand. In the end, they are both exactly what the other needed. Just a great story all around.Midnights girls were so sweet and really deserve to have someone like Lainey in their lives. Highly recommend!
2.5 / 5 Stars I fear that the Lotus MC club is not for me. There were a few things I liked and a few that just didn't work for me. A quick synopsis: Midnight became a dad at 19 to twin girls who are his world. His (almost comically) cruel baby mama takes them away when they are three, so Midnight has been plugging away at life as the owner of a tattoo shop, member of Lotus MC, and dad to his girls when he does see them. Eight years later, Lainey walks into his club because her (almost comically) cruel roommate says that she will kick her out if she doesn't pay rent tonight. Lainey needs the money but she thought this would be a regular club and folks, this ain't no regular anything. Midnight sees how uncomfortable Lainey is and helps her out by hiring her as the receptionist for his tattoo shop. A few months later, Midnight's baby mama drops the twins off (now 11 years old) at his shop and disappears. Lainey helps take care of them and they start to grow as a family. And then there is some drama and mystery and murder with the Lotus MC club.
The things I liked: - I liked Lainey as our FMC. She is independent, no nonsense, takes really great care of the twins, and doesn't put up with Midnight's bullshit. She is honestly more mature than a good chunk of folks in this book even though she is the youngest. - This is a super quick and easy read! - I've said it once and I will say it again, the male models for the covers of this series are doing the lord's work when it comes to advertising.
The things I enjoyed less: - Midnight was a fine MMC. He isn't my favorite and he isn't my least favorite. He had a habit of being a bit mercurial. He loves to put his foot in his mouth sometimes but again, Lainey didn't put up with his shit. He also has a habit of calling women "bitch," "whore," etc., which I personally don't love, which I think ties into my next point. - It felt like the villains, especially the female villains, were written without any nuance. Midnight's baby mama, Lainey's roommate, and even Lainey's mom were written as purely cruel and evil. And what's the fun in that? Give me some shades of grey. Also, Lainey's mom (and maybe her roommate) was dealing with substance abuse. I understand that this does not justify her bad behavior but I lean more towards the side that it should have been acknowledged with some empathy. Perhaps not everyone feels that way, but I had hoped for that. - The relationship in this book feels standalone but everything around the club does not. I jumped in on the fourth book of the series so my own fault, but some of the customs related to the club took some time to understand and I still doesn't think I remember or can distinguish all of the brothers and their old ladies (those are the terms, folks). - Also, all of the drama surrounding the club didn't feel resolved at the end. Maybe it will get resolved in the next book but to me, that felt unsatisfying.
Thank you, Cala Riley and Love Notes PR for the eARC! All opinions are my own.
Pre-Read Thoughts: Look, was I in my ovulation phase when I looked at the cover and said signed up for the ARC? Probably, very much yes. And I am ready.
3.5 stars. Not gonna lie. I wasn’t completely sold on these two being together. Midnight was kind of a reactive asshole who took out his anger on Lainey/ his girls a few too many times. And Lainey was kind of just a pushover.
There was also just some really cringe moments of dialogue that I think could’ve been worked on with an editor or something.
It just wasn’t as good as I remember the first book in the series being.🤷🏻♀️
If you are after an MC romance with some drama but a lot of found family this is the book for you.
Midnight sees Lainey walk into his clubhouse and he knows this isn’t the place for her. Offering her a ride home, he ended the night offering her a job when he sees where she lives and who she lives with. Lainey takes on the job as well as the title of nanny when Midnights kids were dropped off by their mother who vanished into the wind. Now they must fight their attraction and all of the club drama surrounding them to keep their family together.
Overall I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read and fast paced to keep the story moving along. There was times I felt the plot was rushed, especially towards the end and the club drama wasn’t wrapped up so I feel that story will follow through to the next book.
Lainey was a good FMC. I loved that she stood up for the girls and took no crap from Midnight, happily schooling him when he was stepping out of line. Coming from a rough background I felt for her and her communication was great.
Midnight loved his kids - we love to see a good dad. There was a few times I felt he really misstepped with Lainey though and his apologies weren’t up to standard. I would have made that man grovel! he was so hot and cold you couldn’t really pick when they would give in, a bit more tension would have been perfect.
I LOVED THIS!!!! the whole dynamic between Midnight and Lainey was great. how he helped her in her time of need and how she returned it but gained more than she bargained for. she got a whole family and I just the the was everyone just welcomed her as if she had always belonged. I love this series so much.
Cala, Riley, never stop writing MC romance and mafia romance.
At nineteen, Midnight became the father of twin girls—an event that completely changed his life and tied him to a woman he never wanted anything to do with. Since then, he’s closed himself off from any emotional possibility… until Lainey comes along. Lainey is used to fending for herself. When she walks into the Lotus MC club, all she's looking for is a way to survive. But meeting Midnight changes everything. He offers her a chance, and when his life takes an unexpected turn, she's ready to help. Young, beautiful, and carrying a lot of baggage, Lainey works in his tattoo shop and also takes care of his daughters. She’s everything Midnight should stay away from—but the more he tries to keep his distance, the stronger the pull between them becomes.
If you're looking for an MC romance with very low angst, a good dose of suspense, a long-haired, dark-haired single dad, two adorable twin girls, and a nice praise k!nk, stop right here—you’ve found your book. I’ve been waiting for Midnight’s story ever since he was first mentioned in book one, and it almost completely lived up to my expectations!
Midnight and Lainey couldn’t be more different: she’s a sweet little blonde, delicate and soft-spoken, always dressed simply and smiling; he’s a biker, a member of an MC, with long hair, a scruffy beard, and a body covered in tattoos. Not the kind of pair you’d expect to work—but somehow, they really do. Where Lainey has been overlooked and underestimated for far too long, Midnight makes sure she feels valued. And where Midnight had given up on finding a woman he could trust, Lainey shows up and makes him think twice.
The books by this author duo are fast-paced—you’ll fly through them in no time. There’s not too much drama, and what’s there gets resolved quickly, which is something I definitely appreciate every now and then.
I can’t wait to read Bullet’s story, we already know who his love interest will be, and I’m fully prepared for the emotional damage.
I received a copy of this arc in exchange for my honest review. My gosh, did this duo NAIL IT with the single dad/nanny tropes! I only generally read MC romance by a few authors I know and love, and this duo is one of the ones at the top of my list, and for good reason! I haven’t read an MC book by these two that was less than 5 stars. I ADORED these two together! Them, as individual characters, I loved just as much. Lainey hasn’t had it easy in her life, but she’s remained strong, independent, and incredibly sweet. After her slacker of a roommate leaves her high and dry, she has to find a place to live and a new job. When she happens to have a run-in with Midnight, it seems that both of their lives get flipped upside down in ways neither could have predicted. It only takes one morning for his life to get more complicated than it already is, and he now finds himself a full-time father and in desperate need of some help with his 11-year-old twin daughters. The way he is with his girls will make your heart swell. And the way he is with Lainey, that will have you an absolute puddle. He is the most caring father… green flag #1…. and THE MOUTH ON HIM? Yeah… another big old green flag. Just wipe me off the floor. These two were literally EVERYTHING. They were adorable, HOT, and had me straight up glued to my Kindle. I love the “found family” within the MC club and their significant others. Each book gets better than the last. This plot was very engaging, and I love how quickly things move and progress in this story. This was one I truly didn’t want to end. I also loved seeing twins in this story, as I am a twin mom myself to girls the same age. The way I wanted to be alone in a room with their mother…. was something FIERCE. This was the first book I read in May, and it's setting a high bar for the others to match. 5 ⭐️
Am I surprised that I loved this book? Not at all! Books written by these ladies always feature amazing male characters, and the female main characters are always the perfect match for them.
Midnight becoming a father at just 19 was a pivotal moment in his life. He was meant to be a dedicated dad to twin girls, but unfortunately, their mother was bitter and neglectful, often threatening to keep his daughters away from him while using his club life against him. Thankfully, she eventually decides she’s done and drops the girls off at his tattoo shop one day, leaving them with Lainey.
Lainey ends up at the clubhouse one night with her sleazy roommate who is in need of cash, but to her surprise, her roommate isn't a shot girl as she had thought. Midnight immediately notices Lainey, and from that moment on, he helps her by offering her a job and then providing her with a place to stay.
The chemistry between Midnight and Lainey is perfect—a wonderful slow burn that eventually ignites into a sweet and spicy relationship.
Selena and Sienna, Midnight's twins, are adorable, and I felt so bad for what they had to endure at such a young age. When they stood up for themselves in a room full of strangers, it brought me to tears.
I cannot wait to read more from the Lotus MC! The chemistry between Midnight and Lainey was perfect, a great slow burn that then combusted into a sweet and spicy realtionship. Selena and Sienna, Midnights' twins, were so cute, and I felt so bad for what they had to go through at such a young age. When they stood up for themselves in a room full of strangers, they bawled.
Midnight is the father of twin girls whose mother is the worst of the worst. He walks the straight line as best he can so he doesn’t lose his girls against all their mother’s threats. He is a business owner. He is a club member. Can he keep it all together when their mom just drops them off without a trace one day?
Lainey stumbles into the club after losing her job when her roommate threatens to kick her out if she doesn’t have rent the next day. She looks out of place but Midnight is drawn to helping her. He sets her up as his new receptionist when he finds out why she was at the club. She soon becomes his nanny and the twins fall in love with her immediately. Lainey can’t fathom how she could deserve a guy who cares for her, girls who adore her and a happy life.
The slow burn between these two is worth it. The way Lainey shows up for his daughters and protects them at all costs would make anyone fall head over heels. Midnight has a hard exterior but his heart melts for Lainey.
When trouble comes knocking on the club, and his, door, they both have to make decisions to prove that they will do anything to have their family.
I have loved this entire series but Midnight just topped all others with this book! I don’t usually go for nanny/single dad trope but this one broke the mold.
Midnight and Lainey's story definitely hit the spot. Single dad and the nanny! So so good!!
He is patched into the Lotus MC, but also owns a tattoo shop. Oh and he's a daddy to tween girls! The way he was with his girls - keeping them safe, always being there for them when he was allowed to do so, loving them to the moon and back. He's always kept home life and club life separate, until something happens and he needs the support of his brothers (which he's always had, but never really needed when it came to his kids).
Lainey is young, but so resilient. Down on her luck, but not for long. Her B of a roommate offered her help with making some fast money. Thank goodness Midnight was there to step in since the so-called friend sent her into room full of hungry wolves not knowing what she was in for.
He knew there was something different about her the night he met her. Felt drawn to her from the start. Needed to know more about her. So being the owner of the shop, he decides to help her out by offering her a position not even needed just to get her back on the right path and ultimately close to him.
Neither one could fight the growing attraction that came with being so near to each other all day. They tried, but it was useless. He protects and takes care of what's his and his Flower is his, she just doesn't know it yet. Oh and the way that Lainey loved on his girls, felt motherly to them from the start was more brownie points for her.
I loved how this relationship evolved from a boss/employee to so much more. Organic and raw. Nothing felt forced and the love was felt off the pages. Dare I say, that this couple is my favorite in the series!
i can always count on Cala Riley for a good solid MC romance.
𝑴𝒊𝒅𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 is the fourth book in the 𝑳𝒐𝒕𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝑪 series. it’s not necessary to read the other books in the series, but highly recommended since the big bad is one that is ongoing throughout the entire series. and the other couples make appearances in this one.
this book has all the good parts you want in a MC book, found family, the “call me by my government name”, and the “only my old lady is on the back of my bike”
Lainey is the best partner for Midnight and mother figure to his twin daughters, Selena and Sienna. she is the soft that Midnight needs but has that fire that he needs to have someone put him in his place and fight for his daughters.
if you love MC romances, then you should add this to your list of books to read
M/F, dual 1st person POV, 21 fmc / 30 mmc single father, boss x employee, nanny, “good girl” & “sir”, medium burn, baby mama drama, no 3rd act breakup, no condoms, HEA, epilogue
✨I really enjoyed Midnight! It gave me everything I love in an MC romance—broody, protective hero with a soft spot, a strong but vulnerable FMC, and just enough danger and angst to keep things interesting.🤌🏽
🖤Midnight totally stole my heart with how much he loved his twin girls. I loved seeing that softer side of him behind the grumpy, closed-off exterior.🥹Lainey was easy to root for. She’s been through so much but still shows up, fights for herself, and genuinely cares about the people around her. Their chemistry was undeniable❤️🔥, and the slow-burn tension between them kept me hooked.🥵
🫶🏽I also appreciated the found-family vibes and how the Lotus MC played a role without completely overshadowing the romance. It had a great balance between heat, heart, and plot.💕
⭐️Still, this was a solid, emotional read that had me smiling, swooning, and wanting more of this world. Definitely looking forward to reading more from Cala Riley!🙌🏽
Thank you for the Author Cala Riley and LoveNotesPR for the opportunity for ARC!🖤
I am the biggest sucker for a motorcycle gang romance book and Midnight did not disappoint. Most motorcycle gang members are rough around the edges whereas we have Michael or “Midnight” as his road name who has his moments of hardass man but then you find out he’s just a teddy bear who will protect everything and everyone he loves with no hesitation and that even means Lainey, the girl that enters his life and just gives his world a shake up. I loved Lainey as the FMC. She comes from a rough childhood but does not let that bring her down from going after what she wants or looking at life as a glass half empty. She’s the perfect calm to Midnight’s world and in the end, he’s the protector who she wasn’t really looking for but came at the right time. The spice was E X C E L L E N T 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ to the point I was jealous of Lainey!
Lainey, she worked hard to pay her bills and have a roof over her head. But she won't undermine her worth and when she refuses to cross certain lines at her job she quits. She's now left to make a choice, get kicked out of the apartment she's staying in or make enough cash within a few hours to stay.
Which leads her to the club, the only problem is Lainey thinks it's one where you serve drinks and hopefully make enough money...but she realises how wrong she is!
Midnight, became a dad at nineteen to twin girls Sienna and Selena. They are his everything and he loves them fiercely. But when he refuses to make their biological mum his old lady she takes the kids away out of spite and uses the twins and his MC has bargaining chips to get whatever she wants.
Midnight instantly knows that Lainey's different and even though he should keep away he finds himself giving her a job and his tattoo shop and well doing everything to revolve around her.
Lainey's love for the twins was something that stood out for me and I just loved it. She was strong and called Midnight out when he was being an a**. Which happened, once or twice!
Cala and Riley one hundred percent delivered with this book. The chemistry, spice and love that developed between the main leads and Lainey finally making Midnight see that he doesn't have to keep his worlds separate because they are stronger together was awesome!
Midnight - by @author.cala.riley is coming May 1st 2025 to Amazon and KU!
My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this read! I enjoyed that Midnight knew from the moment Lainey stepped in the MC club that she didn’t belong there but needed help and that Lainey stepped in for Midnights twin girls when they needed it most.
⭐️:4/5 🌶️:2/5
Tropes: 🏍️Motorcycle Club 💼 Workplace Romance 🥰 Boss/Nanny 🤭 Single Dad ⛓️ Forced Proximity 🙌 Praise Kink 🕰️ Age Gap
Absolutely loved being back with the Lotus MC. And Midnight, what a joy his book is. I loved how protective he was over Laine from the start. His devotion to his kids. And Lainey was just a breath of fresh air, she has such a big heart, so loving, so strong.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love Midnight and Lainey! Their instant attraction but fighting it. Ugh it was just so dang good!! There’s also just something about a single dad doing anything for his kids. Midnight has got to be one of my favorites of the Lotus MC. I couldn’t put this book down, even sneaking some reading during work 🤭 I can’t stop thinking about this book. Its making me want to read another Lotus MC book immediately but I’ve already read them all 😭
ARC REVIEW ⭐4.25/5⭐ 🌶️ 2/5🌶️ I enjoyed this story a lot! I loved Lainey and Midnight from the beginning. It was so nice to have a story with a loving dad who wants his kids. The twins were great and the way all of their relationships were built throughout the story was believable. This was my first "motorcycle gang" book and it didn't disappoint. I've read a few mafia romances before and they don't hold a candle to this book. You really feel for these characters throughout the book and want them to live their happily ever after. I really want to know what happened to Miranda (IYKYK).
It's so good I almost finished this one session! Midnight and Lainey were easy to love and root for.
At age nineteen, Midnight became a father to twin girls. This tied him to their mother, but things didn't work out. And he lost trust in women until her, Lainey.
Lainey works in his tattoo shop and also nannies for his girls. She's young and beautiful, and he should stay away. But he's drawn to her.
Lainey's only goal is to survive. She walked into the Lotus MC club looking to earn a few bucks and having no idea what she was walking into.
But Midnight came to her rescue and offered her a job and when the twins are left at the shop for him, she jumps in to help.
Their attraction is growing and she loves his girls. Will she be able to handle his life in the club?
Thanks so much to the authors for this ARC to review.
I could not put this one down I was obsessed from the start and finished it 6 hours! 🤭 The girls absolutely nailed this one. It had so many of my favourite tropes wrapped up into one incredible story.
The found family in this was everything the way Lainey loved Midnights girls had me so emotional. This just had everything.
As always I feel so lucky to be apart of the girls arc team so I’m extremely excited for what’s next.
💜 Age Gap 💜 Single Dad / Nanny 💜 MC Romance 💜 Close Proximity 💜 Praise K*nk 💜 Found Family
What can I say, the minute this was sent to my inbox I knew I had to read it straight away, I've been a big fan of this series since the beginning.
Midnight became a father at 19 and his baby momma is no peach after years of not claiming her, she takes his twin girls away, and he has to do everything to fight with them, years later, that baby momma disappears leaving him with his two 11 years olds. Lainey is a club girl's roommate and hasn't got a way of paying her rent, her roommate says you either come to my place of work to earn money or ill kick you out, but Lainey doesn't realise what club it is until It's too late.
Midnight takes an interest and gives her a job, then moves her into his house to become the girl's nanny.
This book has so much going on in it, I absolutely craved the story, and the spice was much different from any of the other brother's tastes, the crave of submission was just perfect. Lainey's love for the twins melted my heart, she needed a family, midnight and the girls needed a place to land, and I loved that Cala wrote this in the way she did.
I can't wait to see who's next and get the next bit of the storyline.
I liked the fast pace of the story and both MCs were down bad for each other so it was easy to root for them. There is a little bit of drama coming at them for different directions. Some things get answered while others are left open - I'm assuming to continue the story in the next installment.
I haven't read any of the other books in the series but didn't feel lost or confused going into it. If you like low key ex drama, insta-love and a little action, this one would be a good recommendation :)
Well, we've heard about Midnight and his girls and I was excited to see what his story would bring. I loved that Lainey took to the girls and them to her so easily. Leave it to man to complicate things and be stubborn, but he does finally give in ;) Enjoyed the book overall and look forward to continuing the series!
