4.4 stars. So. It was a semi satisfying ending. The years at the end in the epilogue really messed me up because when they said at the beginning that a new dragon would be born every thirty years, it made it sound like they would be Birthed in 30 years…so the current dragons would have 50 years to rule…yeah. Apparently I’m dumb. 🤷🏻♀️ whatever. Also, it wasn’t adding the years together, so the first said 1 year later, and the second said like 5 years later. They weren’t saying it was 6 years after the battle, it was a total of 5 years after the battle. That also tripped me up, especially when it had a birth after 10 years and then 20 years that kid was ten…the math was really fucking me up.😂
I don’t know. By the time I was in this last book I was kind of just done and hoping it would be over soon. Not because wasn’t a good series, but just because my mood had shifted, the relationships weren’t as engrossing as I wanted, and my attention span was waning rapidly…
I have enjoyed this series so much and RIDE THE WAVE was a fantastic end for Kira, Jasin, Auric, Slade, and Reven's journey. They've come so far and fought so hard and I was happy with their ending as they finally confront the Black Dragon and her mates. While this book includes Kira bonding with Reven, it's not the focus. We've already seen Reven falling for Kira through the other books and after the ending of SHAKE THE EARTH Reven had already confronted his real feelings for Kira. Instead, this one is focused more on the build-up to the battle against the Dragons and I enjoyed seeing all the different factions come together.
It was also nice to see all of Kira's mates finding friendship in each other and recognizing that they're all a family now. And of course, I was happy to finally have a sexy scene of Kira with all her men. As a bonus I loved the multiple epilogues, one each for Jasin, Auric, Slade, and Reven that shows readers how everyone has been in the years following the battle. I won't say much else because I don't want to spoil anything, but I really enjoyed this one.

As Slade said, we were a family, bound to each other, heart and soul, our destinies entwined from our first breaths to the day we would leave this world.
I had stopped reading this book in February because I had other books to read and things to do, that my Kindle needed to be put aside.
Finally I was able to finish this book, & in turn this series. This series was such a well thought out one. I really ended up loving all the characters, which was great because I remember disliking some in the beginning.
In conclusion, I really loved the ending to this series. Everything wrapped up beautifully.
This book follows the gang trailing their way to the final realm, the water realm to finish the bonding ceremony with Reven and train with Doran to complete their task of defeating the Black Dragon, Nysa. I found this whole story a little to blunt, like everything was very simple and to the point and it all wrapped up too nicely. Everyone ended in love and fine. Kira still annoys me with her juvenile 2011 style niaviety and her general reactions to things. By the end of the book Kira and Slade have created little Sora, named after Kira's dead twin sister who we also found out about in this book, and all four of the boys and Kira sink into their roles as parents very well.
An amazing wrap up to this storyline. The check-ins at the end: 1, 5, 10, and 20 years later were amazing too! The story ended beautifully and I'm looking forward to the story of their daughter trying to bond with her own mates with 4 overprotective daddies 😂
Ride the Wave is the action-packed conclusion to the main story line in the Her Elemental Dragons series, and it's the best of the four hands down. Kira bonds with her final dragon, and the whole group has time for some sexy team bonding before the big finale. Kira learns the identity of her mystery dad, and everyone is growing in their powers. However, when it seems that the original dragons and the gods might both be lying to them, the team has to forge their own path, using their past friendships and alliances to build an army to defeat the homicidal dragons.
This book has the best action, sex, and romance in the entire series. There's more character development, as well, and the whole novel feels much more balanced. I think that readers who have stuck with the series for this long will be satisfied by the conclusion.
It was a cute series. Easy read, the epilogues were great to have. This one felt a bit more rushed than the others in the series and it is very fast paced in general. I wish the books were longer, but it was a fun escape regardless
It was a bit overly simplistic, and wrapped up neatly (and quickly) with a bow. And I'm still baffled at how Kira degenerated into a weirdly naive YA heroine. But it was a fast read and it was enjoyable. *shrug*
What an amazing adventure. I loved this ending and getting a glimpse of the future generation was really cool. This was also abit of a rollercoaster ride. Some high and exciting points and some low, sad points. I think my favorite part in this story was the part where there was forgiveness between everyone.
TLDR - Loved how the dynamic settled in the end, a lot more plot driven than the other books -
I don’t have much to say about this book. They definitely heavily focused on the plot for this last book and got all the relationship bonding and character growth done really early on which was a little bit of a bummer because the other books set me up for caring about the characters and their relationship not the plot and this book kinda turned the table a bit.
Interesting series. Different style of writing than what I'm used to in a RH. It's a bit child-like and YA, but at the same time children and teens should NOT read it. Basic plot, simple characters, typical fantasy world and dragons. It's not the best RH I've read but I didn't dislike it, either.
Kira has been captured, taken to Soulspire, and is being held prisoner inside a bone cage by the Black Dragon and her mates. Reven is encased in ice and that's all that's keeping him alive. Jasin has a badly injured arm/wing, Slade hasn't learned to fly after being newly bonded, and they have all lost their bond communication link to Kira. But they aren't giving up. Kira's mates are determined to rescue her even if it means accepting help from someone they consider an enemy. And once they have her back, she can save Reven, and they can travel on to the Water Temple for the final bonding. They will defeat the Black Dragon. Nysa and her mates have a thousand years of experience and immense power but they are missing the strength of a true bond, of love. The ascendants, Kira and her mates, will find a way to destroy the Black Dragon's evil reign and return the lands to peace.
Ride The Wave is the exciting conclusion to Her Elemental Dragons series. It's wonderful. The world building has always been exceptional and that continues in this book. The descriptions of the Water Temple and Spirit Temple are vivid and complete. The storyline is a nice balance of romance, along with sexy times, and action. I have always had a soft spot for Reven and truly enjoyed his story. His final emotional surrender to Kira showed his true strength. His acceptance of his brothers and his role was fantastic. The character growth of all five characters was notable but his even more than the rest. I also have to give kudos to the insights provided about Nysa and her mates. Learning about them as people, finding out about the similarities to each of their successors, finally understanding their complete history made this story so much richer. This worked on so many levels of the story, past, present, future. It was a brilliant touch. The action was thrilling. The final battle reminded me of an epic blockbuster. There were times during the final battle it seemed as if I should cheer aloud. Nothing could have made me put this book down from the moment the final bonding took place until the final epilogue. It was that good! Finally a mention of the epilogues. I loved, loved, loved them. I wish that more authors would consider this if they are honestly not going to revisit a story. Simple yet incredibly effective. The satisfaction it brought me cannot be ignored. Having said that, while this story is complete, Sora's is just beginning. I hope we get it. Kira and her mates deserve their future, I would like to check in on their happiness as we meet a new generation of dragons, watch them navigate their new powers, fall in love, and face their own set of challenges.
The conclusion to this series was nice and fit the story, but it seemed rushed. I did not read the author’s note at the end, but it may explain why it felt so rushed. I thought Kira would be so much more with her full powers awakened in healing, but that was not so.
There were several fight/battle scenes where I questioned the flexibility and agility of the characters, (and the law of physics) particularly in dragon form because the actions would have been impossible. A dragon reaching for/clawing at someone on his back? How long is the dragon arms? Spewing fire at someone on your neck? 🤔 There were a few more that I made notes and highlights about on Goodreads…
Kira worked my nerves throughout the series with the way she had to find a reason to be angry, hurt or feel betrayed by each and every one of her mates right before they were to bond at their respective temples. It was tiresome and you would think she would have learned from the previous blowup with a mate that communication was key…don’t assume anything.
The events in the Spirit Goddess temple fell flat to me. I mean, it was an epic event, but like many other scenes that should have been amazing, what was happening in the room with the other major players was left out. The aftermath I was disappointed with and goes full circle back to my above comment about Kira’s healing powers… I mean, she was able to heal Calla so why not others since Calla was not related to her or her mate (you’ll see why I say that once you read this one). Also there was a huge reunion in the temple that was..questionable considering the ages of the people involved…
Then there’s the time jumps after the battle… I was confused at first but realized that each chapter time jump referred back to the day of the battle as it’s starting point. Also, speaking of… I could have sworn Enva said that new dragons were born every 50 years but somewhere in the last two books I think, it went down to 30 years?🤔 I’d have to go back to book 1 and reread that part…
Anyway, it was a happy ending, even though it was rushed. Questions were answered and things were made clear. Some deaths, sadness and heartbreaks, some new love connections and some peace all found their way into the end. I hope you enjoy it. Happy reading!
Well here we are near the end of a four book series and it's not until the 11th hour that the story actually got interesting, complex and riveting. For two chapters.
Then for some reason it just kept going. I understand that she wanted to do a nice little hea wrap up and answer some questions but it just was so long. It didn't feel like an epilogue it felt like somebody who was going to write another book in the series and then changed their mind.
It's a shame about the climactic ending (before the drawn out epilogue) because the wrap up that happened in this book really could have been foreshadowed. Then used as great tendrils to pull you forward and what is been pretty much one of the more boring series I've ever read.. There were so many missed opportunities here.
One of the things I was really challenged by was how incredibly dull some of the scenes came off.
Now that's taking into account that sometimes narrators who aren't really into the books or can't do good accents (or no accent and just listening to a man trying to do a female character's voice and consistently making her sound like a high school boys impression of a girl is just painful) can really ruin the story. So there's a large portion of that happening.
But also, I never thought I would encounter a story that made an MMMMF sex scene sound so incredibly boring.
Monotone narration. Just blah banal and boring. And Stephen Dexter trying to do a female character is just painful. In fact sometimes the male characters he was doing sounded like a teenage boys impersonation of a woman. Just like what is going on?
Glad the series is over, I feel like there could have been so much more here. But maybe this is early on in the author's days and things got better. At this point I'm not even going to bother investigating because this book was really hard to get through.
The cliffhanger from Shake the Earth was so intense that I jumped right in to this book. I was not disappointed at all. Answers to so many questions were answered. The ultimate battle was intense. Dorian is a strong dragon and hia charracter will keep you guessing. . I was completely shocked by his actions. Kira and her mates find ways to make stronger bonds with each other. Kira is such a strong person. She amazes me with what she must endure. my favorite mate is still Reven. There is just something so sweet yet masculine about him. I loved how the book takes us into the future as well to have complete. closure with Kira and all of her mates. Ride the Wave is the perfect conclusion to this series.
Once again, Lia Langola and Stephen Dexter dual narrate this story. I loved having them as the narrating team for consistency. Lia was amazing at narrating the elementals. She truly brought them to life with just her voice. She gave them a raspy sound that fit perfectly with the character. Stephen blew me away with his narration of the dragons. Not only did he have to have a human voice, but also a dragon voice for each mate. Stephen kept them all consistent and different throughout the story. His ability to make the dragons sound as fierce as they were described was amazing. This book became like a movie in mind because of Kia Langola and Stephen Dexter's narration.
All is well that ends well as the saying goes... Not much to say really other than that I quite enjoyed the series as whole and this last installment in particular. Maybe because by now Kira, Jesin, Auric, Slade and Reven have really grown on me. Loved seeing their development both as individuals and as a team, a family. Very happy with the epilogues. I hate it when a story cuts off the minute the final battle is won. I wanna know/ see does the HEA last, what does it look like and we get that with this one. Yay! Not sure yet, if I'm gonna read Sora's story. Maybe later at some point, too many other tbr's demanding my attention atm. :) Two little 'observations' if you will...
I want to start off with my review by stating my favorite part of this book, which was the ending. Many times I've seen books have amazing sequels but then it slowly begins to go downhill until the last book is released and it feels completely rushed. This book did not have that problem, at all! In fact, this series has my favorite finale I've ever read. Not only was it conclusive, but it closed up every detail for all the characters, minor of major, which I loved so freakin' much! And the ending is split into four parts, for each of Kira's mates, and it was beautiful. One of the hardest parts of writing a reverse harem romance is making sure each guy gets the proper amount of attention, so the fans can get to know them all equally, and this author is a queen at this.
Best ending to a series, hands down.
Other things I loved about this book is the twists. I stopped guessing mid-way into the book because I know that I always get the twists wrong. I love how well thought out this book was, from the characters, to the world-building. Overall just a fun novel that transports you into a magical world you won't want to leave. I highly, highly recommend this book! Can't wait to see what this author has in store for us next!
This was such a great read. I enjoyed every aspect of it from start to finish. It was nice to get answers to questions we've had some the first book. We were able to empathize with the antagonist. I though that was amazing. A lot of the time authors make the antagonist so awful that we cannot find a way to sympathize with their choices. Even though Nysa was horrible for what she did. We know why she thought it was the right thing to do. We even got to see her daughter make the same choice. If it was for her mates and all those souls she would have succumb to the darkness as well. Let's talk about those steamy scenes. OMG! I mean wow! Right from the start we are pulled in. What I love about the book is that it's not just all steam and no substance. Also the scenes aren't just dropped in as after thoughts or fillers. It flowed and was really well written. I enjoyed each and everyone of the epilogues. It was nice to see them getting a chance at happiness and peace. They had to jump right into their roles as savior's. So it was nice to get a glimpse of the good times as well. I have nothing negative to say about the book. I'm glad their is going to be another and I look forward to reading it.
Ride the Wave was an epic conclusion to an already amazing series! I honestly can't come up with any negative feedback what so ever. That's how good it was!
Kira and Reven finally get bonded but, not before having to fight tooth and nail to get to the water temple. We get to know Kira's father and get the back story on how the current dragons became the way they are. I was so surprised and never imagined I'd feel sorrow and understanding for them.
Even though we understand why they are the way they are, Kira and her mates still have to fight them all to the death to overthrow them and take their rightful place. The final battle was wrote in amazing detail and vividness. Ms. Briggs really knows how to spin a story to hook you in.
I'm so happy I read this series and I'm sad to see it end. I do hope we get more books. Maybe based off the future dragons that will take over after Kira & her mates. Because nothing needs to be added to this series. After reading the epilogue in this book, nothing else is left for us to wonder about. It was wrapped up perfectly!
Loved this book! Really well written lead female in Kira - I instantly felt for her, and wanted her to pull through and succeed in her mission. ANd this is BOOK 4 in the series and honestly I am unsure of their odds... this is getting so tough!
The final male lead is Reven, he has some serious secrets and mad assassin skills! So it takes time for Kira to be anything but a duty or easy lay. She makes him work for it with kindness... really intereting read, and blossoming relationship. HE also seems to be the most capable and natural with his magic. I wish he could just be given more hugs, he needs to realise how awesome he is :)
The four men - soon to be dragons - are all individually interesting and over the complete series you leanr more about each, and get drawn into wanted this to work. Wanting them to love, laugh and bet the current rulers into pulp.... the twists and turns about Kira's family are shocking, but make the backstory make more sense.
In one weekend I read the whole series - my kids complained I starved them as it got past 9pm before one of them was brave enough to hint at dinner being needed LOL.
Audio book review Final book in the story. This storyline had action , all the elements to have you glued to the listen is in there . Everything falls into place . Right when you think you have it figured out Elizabeth throws you a curve . Kira and her dragon shifters are bonded all but one. The water shifter . Since Kira’s father is the water dragon he has made a safe temple so the other dragons can’t stop the bond . Once the bond is complete, Kira and her mates have to go after her mother , the Black Dragon. . Kira finds new allies to help her . Kira also finds out why her mother is the evil Dragon. There is a reason . Can’t say more , you need to grab it and see
Lia Longola and Stephen Dexter was perfect for this story , this whole series . Their was passion in their voice , loved how they did all the characters perfectly. They were strong , smooth and steady
This was a great end to this sexy series. The romance, action, and adventure this group went on gave me exactly what I needed: Fun!
The story starts right where the previous one left off and is packed with surprises. There were some great twists with the world and more than a few familiar faces. I think there were some moments that could have been extended, especially in regards to the men and some connections to their past, but for the most part I was happy with how things turned out.
I was relieved to finally see Reven get some more time in the spotlight. His tragic backstory made him my favourite of the four, and I was glad to see his arc completed. Kira is still a great character though I wasn’t sure I agreed with some of her reactions.
This story was packed with action, though there were a few moments I would have liked to see unfold rather than simply hear about it.
All in all, I’m happy with this finale and think it is a great series for anyone looking for a fun, sexy read to brighten their day!
This series was really quite good. But I'm a little biased, I'm a fan of Elizabeth Briggs' books. The characters in this series were great! My favourite was Reven. He was the sneaky, cold, mysterious one, and you don't really find out much about him until this last book.
The only thing that was a bit of a letdown were the sex scenes. A big part of the story was about Kira "bonding" or having sex with her mates, and I found the scenes lacking and rushed. There was little detail to them, I've read better sex scenes from other authors. Idk, I guess they weren't exciting enough. They didn't get me all hot and bothered like a good sex scene should.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to Sora's story. This is technically a six book series, but the first three are Kira's story, and I assume the last ones are Sora's. It should be good! I recommend this series of books to anyone who likes dragons, fantasy, love, and a HEA. Enjoy!
For anyone who’s been hooked on Her Elemental Dragons so far, Ride the Wave is another strong addition to the series. With two books behind it, this installment continues to build on the emotional and character-driven moments that make the series so engaging. The chemistry between the dragons and the main character is stronger than ever, and the stakes keep rising as the story moves forward.
The action is tight, with the pacing keeping things exciting without slowing down for unnecessary filler. The emotional highs hit right when they need to, making it an enjoyable ride from start to finish. Even though this book moves the plot forward, it also leaves enough room for the final two books to dive deeper into the bigger picture.
If you’ve enjoyed the first three books, Ride the Wave will keep you hooked and excited to see how everything concludes. It’s a solid chapter that paves the way for the next phase of the adventure.
I think I started this book maybe 3 or 4 times but always allowed myself to get distracted by another. I ended up getting the audible copy and listened while I was busy doing other things.
Another good series coming to an end is always bittersweet. I loved the fact that whilst our main characters get a HEA ending, the journey to get there wasn’t rainbows and butterflies. I also enjoyed reading our main characters getting a POV at the different time intervals at the end and that there is an opening for Sora’s story should there be one?!
If you’ve been following this series you know that end the end Kira and her Mates must take on the original dragons if they are to ascend but they aren’t quite prepared and they must continue to grow together to achieve what others have not.
