I’d like to give a huge thank you to the author of this book Sylver Michaela for sending me an advanced readers copy of ‘The Devil and His Sparrow’ and just for allowing me to be apart of the arc team for this incredible book, I absolutely loved every minute of reading this book and I’m just so honoured to have been given the chance to read this book before it’s release day.
Anyways now moving on with my review.

The Devil and His Sparrow is the first book in the Sinners Do It Better series.
Summary:
Iyla is the perfect daughter who does everything and anything her mother ask of her. But then Iyla accidentally gets bonded to Zagan, a demon but not just any demon an incubus demon meaning a sex demon, they get bonded after one of Zagans bands concerts. Iyla didn’t know that when a virgin has sex with a demon that an unbreakable bond gets created between the two and the only way to break the bond is through death. This bond means that Iyla and Zagan can now only have sex with each other for the rest of Iyla life, Zagan being a sex demon and all he feeds off Iylas pleasure and needs to have sex to survive. Luckily Iyla is only asking for one thing in return from Zagan in exchange for her willingness and that’s for Zagan to save Iylas sick little sisters life. Can Iyla and Zagan learn to co-exist with each other or will they die trying? read this book and find out.
Thoughts:
- The character development for both Zagan and Iyla was so incredible to read, I loved watching their characters grow and develop in to who they are. Zagan learning to love and to except he can have friends was amazing. Iyla finally letting herself live the life she wants and not the life her mother wants for her also amazing.
- This book really hit me hard with Iyla and her mother’s relationship. I honestly related a lot to Iyla situation but of course not to the extreme extent of her severe situation. But it’s nice to read about a character who has a similar situation to you and is struggling the way you are.
- I have to say how much I loved all the characters in this book I loved Iyla, me and her would be best friends I’m convinced of that. I also loved Demon Daddy Zagan and his whole band and if I’m being completely honest I’m so happy to know that the rest of the band is getting their own books, I think I’m the most excited for Coldins I don’t know why but I just see his story having so much potential.
- The spice in this book was “chefs kiss” absolute perfection. It was just so freaking hot. Also what a perfect mix of plot and spice.
- Can I also say that this book was also able to make me laugh.
- The ending of this book literally had me crying like actual tears, I couldn’t even believe it. I was so scared that this book wasn’t going to get a happily ever after but luckily we did.
- I’d also like to mention how I’m in love with the cover of this book it is truly a work of art in its own and it just fits so perfectly with this book.
To wrap this review up I want to say how I just think that this book was executed flawlessly, I think that this book is a perfect 5 star read recommendation so I’m highly recommending you go read this book now or at least add it to your tbr for later.

This was a really cool book.
I listened to this on my duty time cleaning and setting the house + before falling asleep in these 2 days (no real time to actually read 😢) and found this way better than my expectations.
I got into this book because demon+rockstar+hot 🔥
And it was. Really.
But it was also sweet, also had a frigging real plot with her mummy issues (die bitch) and her cute sick sister. And it had real growth for both the MCs.
Who would have thought. 😱
I entered this for a fast stress relief and company doing boring stuff, and actually enjoyed it a lot.
... Ok, maybe I should I add up something to my ratings at this point... I tend to stay lower when I just listen (am I alone in this?)

Was I simping over a demon…yes, yes I was!
When the rule following, people pleasing good girl Iyla goes out for a night of with her bestie, after being forced, the last thing she thinks will ever happen does. When Iyla’s bestie drags her to a concert to see Sinners Do it Better, they are surprised with VIP tickets. Only this VIP experience is very intimate. Iyla is a virgin but is embarrassed to say so, well when the lead singer that’s had his eyes on her all night finally gets his shot with her they’re both in for an unsuspecting surprise. Turns out he’s a literal demon and now they’re bonded together forever.
The only thing on Iyla’s mind is to please her overbearing mother, and save her sick sister. So despite the unfortunate event they may work out in her favor. The demon she’s bonded to may be able to save her sister in exchange for letting him feed off her pleasure. I mean sounds like a win win to me! The only issue is Iyla’s mother controls her entire life, even at 20 years old. So when she discovers she’s hanging around Zagan, our MMC, she cuts her off completely. So what else is left to do other than move in with Zagan, since they’re bonded for life…what could go wrong. Oh and there’s another demon that’s full of trickery that wants Zagan for herself.
I absolutely devoured this book, it was fast paced, and Zagan is an Incubus demon so the spice was spicing! This was the perfect amount of spice and plot and I cannot wait for book 2 of this interconnected standalone series!!

Premise wise, I think it was catchy and at the same time promising. I always look forward to these kinds of elements and how they are executed in the story.
The good girl x bad boy going on here was a little bit fun, yes, but along the way, I think it ended up way too mid for my liking. It felt really wattpaddy for me as the story goes?
The characters as well were quite shallow for me. There's no striking character developments at all.
Although, we get to see some good points such as the FMC finally or kind of off cutting her toxic mother (?) I think it was a little bit too now or took her so long, and she's just so pitiful for me? That's just the only thing I could associate her with about 100% of the story.
MMC wasn't really that striking for me as well. He really felt those generic wattpaddy types of male lead. The whole story, in general, felt generic wattpaddy to me.
Overall, I think this was a missed? I can feel and see that the author tried to present a good story, but for me, it was lackluster as a whole.

I was a beta reader for this book. I loved it! Banter, Rockstars, demons, and touch her & di3 mixed together is my new kryptonite. The forced proximity between Iyla and Zagan is sooo good. I always love some music appreciation in books and The Devil and His Sparrow definitely had it. Zagan and Iyla both have a passion for it and it was heartwarming to read about (I live for music too). So in this book, we got a deep love for music, sinful demons and a repressed human!? A promising little cocktail if you ask me. On top of that, it was a little kinky and sweet (even if Zagan is a demon, he acts so sweet with Iyla). I enjoyed the read so much, the side characters were intriguing and fun and I’m happy to know they’ll get their own book, especially Caldin. TDAHS was also emotional, since we deal with grief, sickness and family issues/controlling mother. The characters growth on both sides was relieving and empowering to witness. I rooted for them.

OMGOSH! This book is a spicy romantasy like I've never read before. This story follows the dual POV of Iyla and Zagan. Iyla accidently bonds Zagan, a rockstar who just happens to be a demon. Such a fast paced, action packed book with lots of developed side characters who you'll grow to love. This touch her and die, Demon Daddy will leave you needing the -ice to cool down from all the spice he brings to this book. I felt all the feels and it was the first book in a long time to bring me to tears.
Sylver is an exceptional writer and although this book is way different than her Broken Fae trilogy, the writing style is just as amazing. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy Spicy Romantasy books. Buckle up, you're in for a treat! Because this is a book like no other out there right now.

I had to take some time to think about a review for this masterpiece, and still feel that I won't be able to capture into words how much I loved this. This book will now live in my head rent free till the end of time.
"What the f*** do you think you're doing, letting another demon touch what's mine?" Zagan 🥵 I never knew I liked demons so much!
The storyline is amazing, and yes, it's spicy if you're wondering. But it's not too much. It’s the perfect blend of plot and spice, in my opinion. The character growth was so good, the emotional parts of this book literally had me sobbing, and I'm completely in love with yet another fictional man. 😂🐦⬛ can we talk about Gemma and Zagan bonding over dragons?! Like come onnn. 🥹 I swear this book was like a shot straight to the heart for a lot of things for me.
I'm really excited for the next books in this series! Dante really intrigues me, like who hurt you buddy? Actually, all the characters intrigue me tbh. I want to know all their stories asap.

This is such an exciting book! I love the cast of characters, the deeply emotional content, the very promiscuous sexual exploits, the growth and movement of plot and characters, and the steady unyeilding pace.
I can't wait to read the next one in this series of interconnected standalones!

I was absolutely hooked from page 1, to page 401. This book was so good, Zagan is THE shadow daddy and I truly enjoyed getting his demon side and human side. He was so protective of Ilya, and had no idea he’d find out what love was. Ilya was the cutest, with so much love not to be shown it growing up. It was so good to see her gain her wings and fly, I don’t think I’ll find a book to top this one for a minute. You did the dang thing, Sylver!!!

The Devil and his Sparrow was a fun and emotional read with LOTS of spice!!
Iyla, the 20 year old FMC, is trapped in an emotionally abusive and controlling mother/daughter relationship. Her sister is fighting an unknown, potentially fatal illness, and Iyla is pursuing a future she hates. The one night she attempts to unwind and blur the rules, she unknowingly becomes bonded to a demon, Zagen, the Incubus MMC.
The character development in the book was very well done, especially for Iyla. I enjoyed the side characters in this story. The mother reminded me of Mrs. Kim from Gilmore Girls x 10!
The pacing was medium to fast paced.
I would rate the spice as 4/5 🌶️.
The only thing I didn’t fully understand was when right after being bonded, Iyla conditionally agreed to feed Zagan freely but only if he helped her sister. BUT the bond already required her to feed him to keep him alive or else they’d both die. It isn’t clear what leverage or purpose she had for the additional agreement other than getting Zagan to not threaten her life, which he still did after the additional agreement.

This was my first book by Slyver Micaela, and it won't be the last. Wow, did I eat this book up. Ilya, who figuratively lived in a cage of her mothers doing, finds herself bonded to a demon. Zagan is a member of the band Sinners Do It Better chooses Ilya for his meal. Not knowing that Ilya was not truthful at the party, the result ended with both Ilya and Zagan bonded for life. Ilya wants Zagan to make her sick sister better. They create a deal and become close over time. This book had me laughing, telling Ilya's very controlling mom, and falling on love with Zagan. Highly recommend this series. Book 2 The Devil and His Goddess comes out in April.

I recieved this as an ARC & let me just say, I think this may be one of my fave reads this year!! The connection I felt to Iyla was kinda eerie at times, we both have very similar upbringings & felt we needed to perform for family or we wouldn’t amount to anything all while feeling “trapped” in our little worlds, we’re both Sagittarius’s too which I found cool. Zagan may be one of my new fave book bf as well, sexy, sweet, the whole story really grabbed me from start to finish & had I not had to work I would have easily finished this in one sitting, I’m sure of it lol. Highly recommend!!

I’m so grateful to Sylver Michaela for letting me have an ARC to read. I read her trilogy and loved that so was excited for this one. It didn’t disappoint!
Definitely check your triggers. Michaela is wonderful about posting them in the beginning of the book. Zagan & Iyla were such a great pair. There is a forced proximity element and I loved it. I wouldn’t call this a full on enemies to lovers but kind of.
It was a struggle at times to see Iyla put up w her mom’s abuse and not stand up for herself but I also know that’s a reality for some abuse victims. Especially when it’s been your whole life. I feel like Sylver did such a great job showing this and portraying it. Seeing Zagan’s growth throughout was wonderful and there are some top book boyfriend moments in there.
I’m really hoping we get to see a story with Coldin as the MMC, which might be saying something about me that I really want the scariest demon in the band to have a HEA lol looking forward to more in this series!

I loved this book so much! Zagan is such a softie for Iyla! Absolutely loved their story & the spice was so hot! I also heavily related to Iyla, there were times when I had to ask myself if the author had actually written about my mom instead of Iyla’s because the similarities in the events that happened in this book & my childhood were unnervingly similar. So while this did trigger the fuck outta my mommy issues, this book was also therapeutic and helped heal some of the damage caused by own mother. Everyone deserves to break free of their chains & to find their Zagan!

DEMON FUCKERS UNITE!!!!! But wait because this is WAY more than demon smut because the LOVE and EMOTIONS I felt while reading this was IMMENSE!!!!! There’s so much depth to these characters which made their emotional journeys feel all the more real. They start and end as completely different people.
Highly recommend playing any song when it’s mentioned in the scene. Oh it made the emotions feel 10x more visceral. The way this book incorporates music was beautiful. It’s like music breathed life into both of them and made the story so much more. This book had me feeling anger, anguish, love, sadness, stress and then HOT.
Speaking of hot now of course the spice will be mentioned because HELL YES!!! The demon club scenes had me pacing across my floor!!!🌶️🔥 And let’s just say that man knows how to work his demon powers👀😉

Id cry on the floor. And all the elaborate things he does for her he considers it the bare minimum!!! She was the sunshine in his dark world 😫
He encouraged her to break free from her cage and be her true self that she wasn’t able to live before. To her he wasn’t just a demon, she saw him as Zagan. She loved both his light and his dark. They both saw and heard each other which led to such a wonderful love story.

Okay first of all, if you're an adult and you liked Kpop Demonhunters but you want it spicier and with a happier ending? You need to read this book!
This book had been on my radar for quite some time now but like always arcs and stuff got in the way till it was finally time!
This was not what I expected but in a very good way! I devoured it in two sittings and I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner!
It has demon daddy's (who can multiply themselfs 👀), banter, a rockband, delicious spice and touch her and die so need I say more?
I loved how they went from like a "one night stand" to "enemies" with benefits to friends with benefits to lovers. You get to see their relationship really develope and bloom in this delicious reverse slow burn.
The character developement was on point! Zagan was everything! The way he cared for Lyla and helped her break free from her cage made me swoon the entire time! And the way Lyla helped Zagan really be himself and learn how to love and care for others was beautiful!
The side characters were also very lovable! I absolutely adored Nahla and Eden, they are such girl's girls and let’s just say I'm super excited the boys are all getting their own book and I'm immediately diving into book 2 though I'll be thinking of this one for a very long time!

Well first off, Zaygan is a hot tamale. A dirty talking sex demon rockstar… I mean… yea, can’t really go wrong there. Then you have little miss perfection Iyla who is a virgin with no life other than the one she lives for her horrible mother.
Zaygan is just looking for his next “meal” when he comes across Iyla, who he thinks will put up a bit of a challenge and that intrigues him. Due to a bit of mixed signals, a bond is formed and they have to learn to live with each other and accept their fate.
I did enjoy this one. The first half was super hot, the steamy vibes that Zaygan puts out is just top tier. It lagged a bit for me in parts, but the ending was good. Also the mom in this is just OTT horrible. I just wanted Zaydan to go all demon on her. The other bandmates are pretty interesting especially Coldin the killer snake demon. I’m assuming each will get their own book so I’ll be watching for his.

I devoured this book, couldn't get enough of Zagan and Lyla. Omg. 😍🥵🔥
Look, if you like rockstar romance, with demons, and spice. Quite a bit of spice actually. Than this book is for you.
But man, was it also heartbreaking watching Lyla struggle with her mom. Ugh....her mom 😒 yup not gonna waste my time on her. But she's awful guys. AWFUL!
Back to the important things...
Zagan, our cinnamon roll demon. Though he'd deny it. I mean he does have an image to uphold. 💁🏻♀️ whoooo this man, Layla girl. You struck gold haha.
I absolutely loved watching his character grow and soften...well, his emotions soften...if you catch my drift😏, only for her though. All only for her.
Seriously though, his personality had me giggling.
Than of course our sweet girl Lyla. 🥺
Oh girlie...if I could hug you and be best friends with you, I freaking would.
She was just so selfless, but that also came at a cost....herself.
Seeing her character blossom was so rewarding...Seriously I couldn't help, but cheer her on. To encourage her to stand up to her mom.
And the one time she does something her mother would completely disagree on, would be the best thing ever to happen to her. ☺️
And of course the other characters we meet, the rest of the band...Dante, Perseus, Xander, and Coldin....Coldin is another favorite of mine. Can't wait for his story. I've got some theories on his.
Also, Lyla's best friend, Nahla, gotta thank her for pushing Lyla out of her comfort zone a bit.

Needing to know what happened next. Because yea...I was not about to except what was happening. I needed to know there would be a happy ending. 😆 and thank goodness there was.
The ending was so sweet.
And honest I can't wait for the next book in this standalone series.

This book is definitely a character driven book rather than plot driven. It focused more on Ilya’s struggles with her controlling/demanding mother stifling her life and her ill younger sister. I really enjoyed seeing her character break away from the way that she was brought up and growing as a person.
The first half of the book was very spicy focused but the second half was really what I loved. I loved seeing how Ilya and Zagans relationship grew and Zagans emotion fuelled responses. I actually really enjoyed their growth.
Also, how could I say no to a demon boy band? Kpop demon hunter fan over here so when I heard demon band I knew this book was my next read and what a fun time it was!

This is my first read from Sylver Michaela, I was instantly drawn to the beautiful cover and the tropes - but I was not expecting to fall in love with this book as much as I have!
Zagan meets Iyla after his bands show at the VIP event... queue them becoming accidentally bonded. I loved seeing Zagan slowly fall for Iyla, standing up for her and pushing her to finally break the chains of her controlling mother. And of course seeing Iyla become more confident within herself made the read even more enjoyable. Oh and the spicy times were perfect - demon daddy definitely knows what he's doing😂.

Demon daddy who? demon daddy Zagan. I loved every second of this book (except for that trash mother). This is my first Sylver book and I am blown away!
Our dear fmc accidentally gets bonded to a demon and not just any demon, an Incubus. How can you ever be mad about that? Now add in that he's a rockstar with an amazing voice? Sign me tf up <3
While our dear fmc wasn't trying to be bonded (for life) to our dear Zagan, being bonded does have its perks.
1. he's essentially a pleasure dom and feeds off your pleasure.
2. you don't have to worry about money
3. he can help you heal your sister who is ill
if you ask me that's a win win.
Now our Zagan being a demon, doesn't know what these feelings he is feeling are cause why would a demon ever be in love? but boy oh boy does he start FEELING and boy oh boy does our "unfeeling" feeling demon show up for our girl in every way that one should. this was a great read! i thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the spicy scenes. iyla just wants to be the perfect daughter for her controlling mother, but when her best friend drags her to a concert, her world will be forever changed. zagan is a sex demon disguised in this world as a famous rock star. when his eye catches on our pretty fmc, he decides he must have her.
