Remington Lawson has always been the man who ran things around the small town of Gloombridge. Being a man with money, he has a lot of influence and power, but never lets that take away from the laid-back person he is. A leader of two businesses, Remi has a lot on his plate. When someone close to him tries to sabotage his livelihood, Remi is out for blood. Will he find out who is behind it?
Enslei Raynor thought she had it all—a good job, a loving and devoted husband, and a best friend who was loyal to her. All that crashes down on her on a rainy day. Now left heartbroken, confused, and alone, she leaves behind the one life she’s always known. Will she be able to bounce back from agonizing losses, or will she stay defeated?
The sound of Enslei’s voice captures Remi’s attention before the sight of her does. Since he has always been a man that goes after what he wants, he wastes no time making Enslei his. With the pain she carries, will Enslei be willing to give a man like Remi a chance, or will she continue to be alone?
4.5✨ I listened to the audiobook for Fortunate to Have a Billionaire’s Baby and listen, I had a good ole time. From the opening chapter when Enslei witnessed her husband having a threesome with her sister and best friend, I knew I was going to be in for a ride. Enslei and Remi gave me all I could handle. Remi’s aura screamed boss and the biggest come-up for Enslei. Buuuut, my girl stressed me out to the max! Remi had his work cut out for him because Enslei’s husband did a number on her. Whew the audacity!! While Remi was bae AF, he had his flaws and had to deal with the loss of his wife and unborn child. Together, their chemistry was everything and when they were in sync, they were good - and when they were not, I was stressed. 😩 like please get it together! I enjoyed this book and I love seeing two broken hearts form a whole one, it was sweet in the end 🥺. I think the narrators did fairly good with the audiobook and kept me engaged throughout. The drama, dialogue, and spice was done well.
2.25⭐️🌶️🌶️ All I can say is there was a lot going on; the storyline was not consistent. There were side stories going on that were confusing. I still couldn’t tell you what was happening, and the author did not deliver It well. I didn’t really feel like the FMC and MMC had any chemistry; it felt kind of forced. Even the surprise pregnancy trope was not done well.
This was not really for me. The two main characters Ensleigh and Remi wore on my last nerve. It would be one thing if they were just immature, but they compounded a lack of maturity with not really having any common sense to the point that you wondered what their characters really were and why they were together. It was the definition of “I don’t get it” because they didn’t seem to have anything in common except short tempers, fighting, hooting and hollering and sex. But I suppose that was more than enough for them.
This was an ok read. I felt it was about 100 pages too long. Both Remi and Enslei got on my damn nerves. The miscommunication between the two was unbearable but the one thing these two did if nothing else was have great sex.
I get that this book is just the beginning but did it have to be so incomplete?! As much as Remi talked about loving his wife once everyone started to talk about her it seemed liked no one really cared for her including Remi. I’m confused on why Ward called Enslei the wife’s name cause it’s starting to seem like she ain’t dead. Remi and Enslei was aggy asf but it was understandable since Remi didn’t give her a chance to heal from the drama she just endured as well as her seeing “new red flags” which caused her to flee the scene. Plus he was dealing with his issues and wanted things his way just like her. I wish we had some type of timeline cause I was confused a few times while reading. I didn’t understand the relationship dynamic between Enslei, Livia and Elora it made it seem like they were close since that was who she ran to after her drama then as the story went on it said they weren’t close. Like what was the age difference between them. I’m so confused by the dad not liking his child because of labor issues like sir you need help asap; as well as the momma cause I would’ve left him treating my children differently. I’m lost on what Remi was doing wrong by helping his brother even though everybody was saying he wasn’t. I didn’t get that part and it was never fully explained in detail. The story was a little all over the place and I’m still trying to figure out what, why or how she was fortunate to have a billionaires baby?! Why was Livia and Elora staying not too far from the hood when they supposedly had money?! Nothing about Remi screamed billionaire or king of the city besides other people reactions to him. I’m gonna read whatever else come from these stories cause I wanna know how it will end.
Enslei's world crashes down around her all in one day. Enslei ends up moving in with her cousin friend following her heartbreak. While visiting his friend, Remi hears her voice and becomes infatuated. Once that happens, he is determined to make her his and applies hella pressure. Remi and Enslei were both stubborn individuals but I enjoyed the passion and love that developed between them. I also enjoyed the other couples in the book, Livia and Laken and Elora and Braden, when they all hung out together with Remi and Enslei. The camaraderie, banter and humor that they had going on was hilarious. Enslei's sister, Cassidy, her ex-husband, Wade, and ex-best friend, Jordyn, were trash. Pressure had me cracking up too with all of that food he kept pulling out. I'm looking forward to the upcoming books so the many questions that I have can be answered. The drama, treachery and suspense in this book made it a great read. This is the first book that I've read from this NTMA and it's definitely not my last.
Mama always said everybody ain’t your friend that goes for sisters too. Enslei had a bad marriage from the beginning then to walk in on your one eyed husband having a threesome, is disgusting. She was ready to fight any and every one. And did. She had a complete stranger to see herself worth. Her cousin and sister told her time and time again. Enslei and Remi were gone off that bottle. That’s why she pregnant. She is always running. She also worked my nerves. Remi has a successful business. Her mama was smirking when Remi laid the smack down on her father. Trifling man, he’s the reason her mama is losing weight. Ward was sneaky anyway. I think his ex mother-in-law has something to do with the lab being broke into and Lear is in on too. Remi is scared because his wife died stressing herself out. That’s Livia is scared to be pregnant. Remi, Laken, Braden are straight up fools. Grim and Pressure is there making money. The jury is still out on Naa. I’m patiently waiting for part two.
This book didn't make any sense from the beginning. Let's start with the fact that the book's cover does not match the characters. Enslei has locs and is a plus size woman this woman on the cover is none of those things. Remi and Enslei are not likable. It felt like I was reading a story about high school kids. That’s how childish they were. The Ward part didn’t make any sense. Who was he working for? We never got the answers. There was no natural chemistry between the two. It was just a lot of sex that does not equal chemistry. You only saw a beautiful moment between them when they shared their fears. I wish she would’ve focused more on things like that.
The fact that Remi fell for Enslei just from hearing her voice, shoot let me find a man like that. Then him sending her gifts and never stating who it was from, yea Remi is that man! Enslei really had a very rough beginning in the book from the loose of her job to walking into her home being totally disrespected by the one’s she loved. But Remi definitely stepped in on time love on Enslei although in reality Enslei gave that same love back to Remi because he needed it as well due to what he went through with his wife. Great read from an author I haven’t read from. I’ll for sure be looking more into her catalog!
This book was really good. I'm not gonna lie Enslei got on my last nerves. She was doing the most and got upset when no one would kiss her behind. Now Remi was Bae. He spoke the truth and fell so hard for Enseli. Their love story was a very bumpy ride but they are on the way to their HEA. This book does leave a lot of questions unanswered and the author does address this. There are other books to come after this one and I cannot wait. Overall good read.
This story came to an end but there’s plenty more to read about in the follow-up books. TW if miscarriages, maternal death, or hate of a parental figure bother you.
What I liked: - I always love reading about black love - Complicated relationships
Enslei has been through more than a little bit. As a couple, they are both so stubborn. The story didn’t grab my attention as much as I expected, I may still read some of the follow-ups to see what happened to the characters.
This was a wonderful book; I enjoyed the story. Remi is a boss in every sense of the word. He likes things his way, and he goes after what he wants. Unfortunately, he wants Enslei, although I felt for her after everything she's been through. She is extremely annoying. I don't know how he put up with her. Still, I enjoyed this story. This is my first time reading your books, and I enjoyed it immensely. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
Great storyline, I can't wait for the other stories I love how Remington and Enslei connected, though she couldn't GWT out of her own way! The friendships were so real and good to read about, especially Remington, Braden and Laken. Enslei daddy can kick rocks, right along with her younger sister! Loved the ending and can't wait for Enslei to have the baby!
The storyline was good, but I was left disappointed with the ending. I'm glad Enslei and Remi found each other, and i was happy when she decided to let him love her properly. The author showed us who trashed Remi's place of business but never revealed who he was working for. So that left me wanting to know more.
Loved this book from start to finish. Remi was a gangsta with a flip mouth. He met the right woman for him Inseli she was stubborn as can be. I did feel as though wr needed a little more in the end. Like what happened woth the ex husband and the couple that was after Remi. Great job Nikqua
It was an enjoyable book. Remington was a force to be reckoned with, and Enslei, although slightly annoying at first, became more confident and strong as the book progressed. Overall, I enjoyed getting to know the characters, and I might consider reading about the other characters' stories.
The way the characters spoke in the book made it so hard for me honestly.. the way the plot was set up kid of skipped weirdly . The way her cousins spoke to her ? I wasn’t a fan of . Something’s they said I was like okay they care for her but other times I’m like who talks to someone like this. 🫤 was okay read.
This book really PMO cause got dang both main characters were so annoying. The FMC was a brat, if it wasn't her way it was no way. She always wanted to leave when times got hard it was too much. The MMC was annoying as well he kept brining up his dead wife, idk if it was to make her jealous or not. He didn't move like a billionaire or anything. J didn't like her family either
This book had so much potential with an interesting storyline. However the execution kind of fell flat. There were a few holes in the plot or this that just didnt make sense. And some of the dialogue was choppy and awkward. I pushed through to get to the “reveal” and even that was anticlimactic. Im on the fence about reading the other books in the series.
Though a long audiobook, I found this love story to be a good listen. Wished there was more from the ending as I felt it wasn’t completed. Would have loved to find out about the birth outcome being there was a history. Would have loved the reveal from Olivia. All in all this was enjoyable. The love story of Remi & Enslei ❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Enslei’s attitude Remis none communicating ways. The weird relationship with her cousin. Why didn’t she go to her older sisters house? What did the brother do? It was a lot going on. The adult scenes were well written. These Ai covers are misleading
Only gets 5 star’s because of Remi Enslei got on my last nerve. I couldn’t stand her. It’s like she was gluten for pain. She always ran away from Remi when he was just trying to love on her but she would go out and do something stupid. I’m glad Remi got her together.
This book wax good Enslei and Remi worked my nerve at first but I'm glad they gotten it together. It is some unanswered questions but hopefully we get some answer in the next book.
Stubborn and mean.. what a combination. And it was both of them - Remi and Elsleigh! I will as like damn the whole book. Both of them acted like children and it was exhausting. They got 4 stars just off the sex and the relationships with the other couples.
What an unexpected ending to this strange trio of friends/family. Everyone had issues and things are strange as hell. Hopefully there will be an ending that will answer some of the lingering questions. Great trio of couples. Great read.
I think my pet peeve was that I really didn’t like Remi and I didn’t feel the attraction nor love between Remi and Enslei. It feels like the book ended on a cliffhanger with all the unanswered questions that I guess will be answered in the upcoming book.
Geesh I know that once Enslei found One eyed bandit having a threesome all heck was going to break loose. But once Remi sought after her and she keep running I wanted to give up right along with Remi at one point lol This was a book of chase. I’m glad they found peace
