“The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame.” ― Oscar Wilde
If you're into the fluffier side of life, you have my blessing but will you please take the next exit. For the rest of you depraved pervs, enjoy your stay ;)
The Escape #3 I'm getting nauseous from tension in my stomach. I should have known better. Finally there was some good flow and than.....BAM everything blows up. Well thank you (not) .... Over to #4
WTF!! Anger, betrayal, utter contempt and I imagine I could get a tad violent towards one four letter word slimy piece of garbage...and that's just ME!! 4 stars.
Imagine how Sebastian and Aaron are going to feel once they discover the truth about their mutual f**k buddy....utterly devastated doesn't cover it, and yes I know they're characters in a book, but THIS is personal!! And I assume this was your idea of revenge you slimy worm, you getting your own back on Sebastian for having the temerity to sleep with a rent boy while going out with you?? A woman scorned has nothing on you!!
And while we're on the subject of 'betrayal' Mr Author (smooch by the way), I certainly didn't expect you to never saw that one coming at all (I can just imagine you smirking hehe), that was completely under the radar BUT what can I say, I'm HOOKED on this series and will stay with it until Vince gets his just desserts and Mr Carson is taken down by a mob of angry rent boys and dismembered, piece by bloody piece, not that I'm violent or anything....Well done Kol ♥♥
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
WTF just happened? Something I didn't see coming that's for sure. Poor Aaron has been through so much and I feel so sorry for him. I really enjoyed this, although I could have read more and wish it was longer :)
My poor Aaron. When part two ended there was a glimmer of hope. Did Aaron survive? Did Aaron get out? Even if he did get out, is he too broken to recover? Did you really think I would tell you what happened? If you've come this far in the series, you really need to experience the rest for yourself.
Of course, having read Kol's work before, I should have known that those answers would not be easily won, nor should they be after all he put Aaron through. I should also have learned to expect secrets, lies and an ending that would keep me thinking about it, and feeling it, long after the last word.
Thank you for the advance copy, Kol! *****4.5 STUNNED STARS*****
OH.MY.GAWD! I don't know what to say. I mean, I didn't know what to expect, but I thought I could of imagine the possibilities of how things would of played out. Boy, was I wrong. Not in a million years would I of thought of things going down the way they did. Aside from the feels I was completely and totally SHOCKED!!
Great job, Kol! I know it took a little longer than planned because of reasons. So I just wanted to say: that I'm proud of you, brother! AMO!
You, Dear Kol, as I already told you, you're a genius ( evil genius ), you're the only one who can make me talking to myself in the middle of the night to review each sentence of your book.( My hus thought I was crazy) nothing is ever expected, nothing is ever as it seems! I adore you! I can't say anything, because everything would be spoilers, but i love Aaron even more. I look forward to your other stories!
I can't believe Kol created that ending... I am supper PO... But I am coming back for more like a fat kid at a candy store... Nicely played Kol, nicely played.
Looks like I'm in the minority on this one, as I ended up feeling a bit disappointed. After the way things left off at the end of the last book, I was raring to go on this one. However, I felt like I missed a huge chunk of the story somewhere along the way.
For starters, Aaron is now free and living with Sebastian and Eric. How did we get there? When we last saw Aaron, he could barely function without the drugs, yet no mention is made until his pain prescriptions begin to run low and he seeks out the heavy stuff. After such an ordeal, why was he not in any kind of therapy? This all just felt disjointed to me and not at all like the first two that were so cleverly planned out.
That being said, I did love seeing the rest of this story played out and definitely didn't see the twist at the end, although that seemed to be just thrown in there as well. The writing itself is still very good, but just didn't find this segment having the same vibe as the previous two.
At this point I just want it to end! It is becoming long winded.
I had a feeling things would end this way, however i was hoping for a different journey to take them there. I was waiting to see the dominant side of Eric that comes out sometimes. I could see him putting Aaron in a situation that will help him replace bad memories with good ones. It didn't go that way of course.
Now i am just highly pissed! Who is Eric really? What kind of life does he have? Sebastian obviously thinks his boss is someone other than who he is. I am sooooo ready to read the next season. Even though I didn't enjoy this book as much, the story as a whole had my attention.
This is the finale that will leave you gasping and looking for the number of the truck that just ran you over. It is dark with a upbeat tilt, this whole series takes you places some people dont want to go so dont say you were not warned, it is NOT for everyone, but if you love beautifully crafted stories with characters that are more than one dimensional and leave you feeling that there will never be enought time or paper to truly understand them fully then this is your schtick. IF you have followed this series from the start get this NOW...
This book was not nearly as dark as the previous books but nonetheless very intriguing. Aaron is out of Vincent's custody and is trying to make sense of life after his abduction. Again the story is emotional with twists and turns that are unpredictable and mind blowing. Can't wait for the next episode.
We go on this healing journey with Aaron, Eric, and Sebastian.... but for that ending??? While it was a great story and all around trilogy, I feel like I still have questions.
was Eric just saying that stuff to Carson to really make Aaron feel safe and keep them away? Was it a sly threat using Sebastians connections? If he loves him don't you think he would want to help take him down? I feel so betrayed!! But at the same tie, I'm glad it still ended with a hard edge, not letting it get too "mushy", keeping up with the darkness through the whole thing.
WOW. I knew something bad was going to have to happen. But I literally yelled what the hell out loud. I am FLOORED and I hope he gets what's coming to him. I expected things would be bad for him when he finally escaped, though it seemed really easy, but it felt a little disjointed and fast. And the fact that he really isn't recieving any mental help, and the doctors were just "ok, exposure therapy and eventually you'll be fine" was a little odd. But I can over look that a little..On to season 2 and I am fuming. Beware, read the description and know there are MAJOR triggers and is not for the faint of heart.
Full Circle Didn't expect that! Aaron's struggle with recovery from his captors was expected but the twists and turns were not! There is a new series with the characters and I have to start it now. Dang! Eric!
The saga continues, and Aaron escapes from Vincent. I have mixed feelings about these books. They are extremely well written, but something about them bothers me.
Carl did it! Somehow, he got Aaron out of hell! In this book, we watch as Aaron tries to acclimate back into a life of freedom. During most of the book, his life is like a roller coaster. Luckily, Eric and Sebastian are more than willing to help Aaron do whatever he needs to do to get back on his feet, even allowing Aaron to move in with them. This new, unconventional yet very supportive and nurturing living arrangement serves as a catalyst for Aaron's much-needed changes.
I enjoyed getting to read more about Eric (the slut/ho) and we get to meet a new character named Thomas. I was disappointed that Carl remained in the background with no appearances in this book. Anderson continues to come up with sensational, creative curveballs so who knows if/when he will pop up again…
Wow.. What an ending to a horrible story. I mean, great. No twisted?
I could not put this book down. Start to finish had me flipping pages as fast I could to see what was going to happen to poor Aaron. He is struggling to get his life straightened out. Trying to relearn how to be 'normal' again after everything he's been through.
Too bad he is conditioned too well. Hard to break a habit that's been beat into you.
Another sad, frustrating and painful installation of Broken Series by Kol.
I can't wait to pick up another piece of work from this author.
I love that Kol Anderson, usually means surprise twists. They are creative, and usually leave you emotionally charged. (usually cursing the author...but that's a good thing, it's got you pumped up)
And this ones twist, still came at as a surprise, and was a good twist. It just felt a little out there... It would have been great, if the book had continued, and fleshed the twist out. As it was, it felt unfinished.
The entire series is good, and worth the read, just don't expect a typical HEA.
Yeah, the writing is still pretty shit, the commas are all over the place, and it's all very trashy. But it's pretty nice trash, perfect for a lazy day off.
In this "episode" there's a bit of a break from all the torture torture torture, which is nice for variety's sake. Instead we're suddenly thrust into a hurt/comfort love triangle! But wait! Oh MAN, someone call Shyamalan, cause we've got a major TWIST on our hands! I honestly didn't see that coming, so I was all kinds of delighted about it.
Although the ending did offer a little incentive to read the next season, I think I'll call it quits with season 1. So much happened in this last season 1 episode and much lacked sufficient background. I felt like there was a missing book between books 2 and 3. There was just too much jumping around and too little realism.
I'm going to give this one 4.5 stars! Great story, surprising ending, but I wish it had been longer. It felt like some of the details of Aaron's recovery were glossed over. Can't wait for Season Two!!
3.5* This book focuses mostly on Aaron's ability tho deal with the horrors he's indured. It isn't as riveting as the previous instalments but I still felt for Aaron. The relationship he develops with Sebastian and Eric is a bit odd and there's a bit of a cliffhanger in the end.
