Interpol agent Andrei Leonard doesn’t believe in innocence. When a favor to a friend leads to him capturing a wold-famous forger, he knows her wide-eyed sincerity is a game.
He’s proven right when he takes her to Interpol’s newest safehouse--a BDSM club outside of Amsterdam—and Sofie knows exactly what all the toys and tools in the club are for.
While he waits to see if this off-the-books kidnapping is going to become and official Interpol arrest, Andrei decides to see if Sofie would like to have a little bit of fun. She readily agrees and, despite his misgivings at the unwelcome softer emotions he’s starting to feel when he looks and her, they start to play.
Until Sofie’s accomplice, a wold famous maybe-reformed cat burglar, run in, slaps Andrei, and announce that Sofie’s a virgin.
A virgin?
After quickly unstrapping her, Andrei vows to take her home and never see her, or touch her, again. Think about her? That he won’t be able to stop doing…
But Sofie’s sojourn at the BDSM club is the first time she’s been out of her heavily protected studio in years, and someone noticed. Sofie’s innocence isn’t the act Andrei assumed it was, and she has no way to protect herself from the powerful people who want her, and will stop at nothing to get her.

The world of art fraud, art forgery and human trafficking collide in Take The Sub and Run. Once again Lila Dubois weaves her love of artifacts, art history and art masterpieces into a love story. She even throws in a startling twist that touches upon real world current news events.
Sofie Vermeer is an art prodigy and it was discovered in her early childhood. She's been sheltered in her home almost all of her life having has most of life choices taken away. It's time for a change. An art heist just may be what she needs. Andréi Leonard had a rough childhood which turned into criminal behavior. Getting caught by authorities was the best thing that could to him. He parlayed being an informant into what he is today, Interpol Agent. Sofie fascinates him like no other woman and definitely appeals to his Dominant side yet there is a naivete about her. A shocking truth sends him reeling but also sets up an scenario that becomes more unbelievable with every revelation. He has to....no needs to protect her, even if it's from herself. Because he is her home.
Sofie is thrilled to be out of her house. She is assisting her cat burglar friend Colette in a heist. An ex Interpol agent Landon is ready to nab Colette. So Interpol agent Andrei Leonard nabs Sofie. Believing her to be similar to Colette, Andrei proceeds to scene with Sofie as “punishment” for her actions. The reader has hints that all is not as it seems.
As events and histories are revealed the situation becomes even more complex. Sofie had an unusual upbringing, and has an unusual “sponsor”. Absolutely fascinating. Can;t say more, or I will give too much away. Just know this is an incredible read.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
What an amazing story with so much happening from introducing Sofie to BDSM, to understanding human trafficking and forced labour and most of all art forgery. I am hoping Sofie’s “father” is mentally deranged as there is no other excuse for what he put her through and what he did at the end truly shocked me. Andrei was so careful with her and sharing his story was important to understanding him. I was fascinated by the art history and the science of forgery. I wish it had not ended so abruptly and having the epilogue twice was a little confusing, but it was such a great story anyway that nothing detracted from it.
I Love Lila`s writing style! Again, I read slowly and I enjoyed every meticulous detail! And again, she did not disappoint! I also loved Sofie and Andrei`s unique story. A lot of “forbidden” in this adventure… It made me think: not everyone strives to be perfect. Sometimes we have to do illegal things for the greater good. Enjoyed to the fullest! Bravo!!.

These two had chemistry that zinged all over the place! Maybe that explains why they never really had conversations until after they should have. Maybe that explains why they reacted without thinking things through first. Maybe that explains why they kept backing themselves into corners with no clear way out. They get there, eventually, and they solve the bigger problem, after failing miserably. They get their HEA on their own terms, in their own way, and in their own time <3
Lila Dubois always does a great job with character development and building the relationship between characters. I love the foundation of these series (hero in law enforcement falling in love with a heroine with a shady past).

Started reading. immediately put it down to reread the first book since it had been a bit and this picks up in the middle of the ending action of book 1. Good story, but the ending feels abrupt ...but based on how the first book characters are really the only other named characters in this one I hope we see another book and get a bit more wrap.
Thank you Lila. Your books always have the capacity to bring me back from the slump. I think so far this series is my favorite of Lila. Sophie, my sweet and tragic Sophie. You were a wonderful character.
It takes a thief to catch a thief but the true master of emotion will always win the hearts of others. Andrei and Sophie's game of cat and mouse, legal versus illegal paths and emotional submission lead to some very intriguing and interesting moments.
What a great book!! I loved getting to know the characters and learning more about the art world! I also love the connection that Sofie and Andrei had from the beginning and how they both fall for each other fast!
