He was always my missing link. I thought our friendship was steadfast. I thought our relationship was unbreakable. I thought our love was resilient and formidable. I was wrong. When he chose her, he broke us. When he let them bully me, our connection was severed.
Now, after years of being apart, he wants to fix what was broken, but how can you mend something so irreparably damaged. How can you fix someone who has been destroyed?
Lincoln
She has always been my heart. The other part of my soul. The beat outside my chest. I was undeniably stupid for turning a blind eye on the only girl I promised to love forever. When she left, she shattered me and took my heart with her. But can I really blame her when I was part of obliterating all the beautiful parts that made her who she was?
Now that she has returned, it’s my job to piece her back together. I’ll do anything to prove she’s the epitome of perfection. I’ll join her in her darkness to bring us both back into the light.
Torn apart by deceit and reunited by fate, childhood sweethearts Amity and Lincoln face a passion so intense it sizzles off the pages from Amazon best-selling author, L. Ashley.
Noticeable differences: *Dad instead of Mom *Influencer instead of model(although this h wears underwear while interviewing stars) *OW names are different *fatshaming(possible trigger warning) *H is working at fathers company not owning his own bar A few scenes stood out as exact copies *H online obsession *pool cheating *impromptu surprise gathering when h arrives *rehab stints *famous FWB...and so on and so on. Enjoyable read except Ive basically read this book before in another font.
Byron’s Second chance vibes or more than vibes 🤷🏼♀️
•Second chance romance •Mental health rep •OW/OM drama •Time jump •Angst
So this is the story of Amity and Linc who are childhood friends. At sixteen, they started a romance and after a couple of months into the relationship, Linc betrayed Amity. After graduation, she moves away and Linc stay in is hometown to run is father business. Seven years later, Amity is back in town to help her father after a surgery.
I have mix feelings about this book. This story was filled with so many emotions. A story about trauma, body issues, self-love and recovery. The angst in their teenage years DRIVE ME CRAZY. I was so mad a Linc for what he did and the fact that he still stay with (I already forgot her name) a year after graduation WHAT THE HELL LINC? 💔
I was uncomfortable with the smex scenes when they were underage. Also, some stuff was to cliché for me. Amity moving to California where she is now famous, hangs out with celebrities, have a ton of money and when she comes back in town after 7 years all of her high school bullies wants to be her friend #classic 🤦🏻. Because of the significance that is placed on Linc’s relationship with the ow at the beginning I was not convinced him and Amity would end together. He was a 17-year-old dumb teenager who needed attention and Amity was not there. In the 7 year time jump, Linc has come to his senses FINALLY and is playing the it’s always been you card. I am not buying it, because even after all this time the OW is still in his life. I seriously wanted Amity to be with someone else 😢
I was about to DNF but I pushed through. The book is long, I did not like Linc’s character and Amity's personality irritate me. There was so much going on in some chapter's, I was lost.
Thank you author for the opportunity to read and review this book. These are my honest thoughts and opinions. Check the triggers warning.
So the author just basically copied Barron’s Second Chance? Like SO much is the exact same. Someone needs to notify the author! This is straight plagiarism. I can’t be the only one who noticed this.
This is a plagiarism of Barron’s second chance by S.T Moors
Like the other 1 stars reviews mentioned.
Parents are friends. Childhood best friend turned boyfriend. Bullied by peers. Comes back and finds him with her bully at a party. Runs away for years and becomes famous. Big body image problems. Mmc works for family business. Bully works for him and they still have casual sex. Famous friends with benefits
Not only is the plot the same but she even copied text and paragraphs. It’s almost like she wrote her book while following along with BSC.
I also don’t like extreme detailed 16 year old sex scenes. Yuck.
P.S I went to S.T Moors IG page. She has screenshots and highlighted text to show the exact similarities between the two books. Do yourself a favor and go check it out. The proof is in the pudding.
Talking inspiration and committing plagiarism are two very different things. Maybe this author should read a book on that first before writing one, because writing clearly isn't her forte
Its such a time waste to read the same book but with different names. Hate that the author gets away with this shit.
I gave the book a chance but the similarities that shares with “Barron’s Second Chance” by ST Moors are overwhelming. There’s even a scene where the OW wears a red short dress, and it plays exactly the same, except that in the OG story, they’re at the H’s bar and OW tries to hookup with him in the back office and in this version, she’s the receptionist and tries to hookup in the office of the architectural company. Obviously in both cases, the heroine sees her and the OW make her believe that she and the H are still having a thing…
Cover: Nice. I like the color and the title. It’s attractive.
MCs: in this book, I didn’t truly believed the regret that the alleged hero felt. He chose OW over and over and was considerate with the ex and never with the alleged love of his life.
The heroine was always having BBS and that was not attractive. Besides, the twist of her job interviewing people in a bikini and being successful (instead of being a model like in the original story) was boring and absurd. It felt forced in order to change it from the original.
The main changes for the hero were his choices. In this story he gave everything first to the OW: kiss, first time, loving together, baby that they lost… to the heroine, nothing. I disliked it. He didn’t feel remorseful at all.
The spice was meh. The dirty talk at fifteen from the hero was laughable. The smex was ok, but the dirty talk was funny instead of sexy.
But even until the end, the story kept being completely similar to the other book, published earlier and I couldn’t like it because of that.
✔️ It's come to my attention from other's that this author has copied from another author S.T Moor's book Barron's Second Chance. Since I'm unfamiliar with this author I can not make an honest comment, but just wanted to put that out there so anyone familiar with both authors can make an informed opinion.
DNF 30%. It's not for me. I'm not the age demographic here and that's ok. Plus, the vanity in this book is too much for me. The h has weight issues and went crazy with dieting and developed mental issues with an eating disorder. All stemming from her bf cheating on her with the mean girl from their school. She's constantly ridiculed and made fun of. She leaves gets lucky in Hollywood because her mom is a famous makeup artist. Has a glow up as it's called here. But throughout the book so far she's constantly referencing dieting. Being healthy. Eating healthy food, exercise etc. I'm all for that, but it's getting repetitive because that's all she's talking about. Maybe this author is really young? If anything from this book I see the negativity social media and porn has on our younger generations. It's obviously where this young couple got their references from. I mean he says he wants to fuck her face then come all over it at age 16. Maybe this is the norm for the age demographic these days
The similarities between this book and Barron’s Second Chance are too noticeable to be anything more than a copy of Barron’s Second Chance. This is unacceptable and not fair to S.T. Moors who is a small indie author. I hope Lauren Ashley does the right thing and takes her book down. I cannot support an author who does this.
Barrons second chance rip off, and a few name and place changes do not make this book unique, just a poor imitation of the real thing. Whole scenes are exactly the same just slightly different wording.
Don't bother reading this copy read the original by S T Moore
When I first started reading this, I was sure I had read this before, despite it being released today. A 1/4 of the way in, I realized it was EXACTLY like Baron’s Second Chance, down to specific scenes. The whole premise was the same, down to the events, jobs, and even scenes. The writing was great, but that does not take away from the fact that this was taken from someone else’s book, just dragged out longer. It makes me sad because I do think this author has talent, but it’s very clearly heavily influenced by someone else who put in the work and effort to write their own book, only to have someone else strongly copy many parts from it. Keep that in mind.
I get the same tropes, the same story line kinda. Two authors can want to tell a similar story. But when you are hitting similar sentences to sentences and only names are changed... it becomes concerning.
Story line, great. Love it. Great writing. Love it.
1⭐️ cause it's pretty much Baron's Second Chance by S.T Moore.
Pieces of Us by L. Ashley was plagiarized from S.T. Moors' book called Barron's Second Chance.
I saw the side by side comparison from multiple pages which I have saved and available on S.T. Moors' IG and it is glaringly obvious it is plagiarism. L. Ashley has doubled down and denied, but the proof is there.
this entire book is front the back plagiarized from ST Moors book Barons Second Chance. if you want to read this book from the original author i’d go there. this is pathetic.
Read like it’s been written by a 15 yrs old in a Wattpad. No women with dignity would act like what the FMC here did and no men who’s not misogynistic will do or say what the MMC here did.
I’ve seen people say the book is like Baron’s whatever-that-book’s-name-is same plot and story.
While I agree, at the very least in that book, the MMC was sincere in his regrets and remorse and was just a plain stupid 17yrs old whereas in this; the grown ass man just spouts pretty words and promises and half-ass regrets and what honestly made his “grovel” easy is because of the FMC’s constant body-betraying syndrome.
I wished she got spine surgery for her to have an ounce of backbone. But alas, to be a woman in a second chance romance book is to be a spineless, no-brain, stupid one.
This is the first time I write a bad review. I've always understood that a novel might not be to my liking while another person might enjoy it... but this book is a plagiarism and a lack of respect. It's practically identical to *Barron’s Second Chance*! The difference is that in this new copy, the protagonists are so superficial that you don't believe anything about them. What a shame
They are paragraphs that are almost word by word from another book, another author. Love the story, but I already read it by another author. Seriously, is like a mild edit from the other book. Is not a similar trope, is the same story.
This book has plagiarised parts of Barron's Second Chance by S.T. Moors. Plagiarism is not only unethical but can also constitute as copyright infringement which is a criminal offence. Please do not support this author and report this crime.
Initially I was very excited to read this book. Second Chance romance with a groveling hero is my jam. As I started to read this book I immediately realized it was too similar to another book I have read and loved. Yes, no author owns a trope but this book was exactly like "Barons Second chance" legit scene for scene , exact plot points characters everything just with a few minor changes. It is so blatant I was shocked. I'm still shocked. If I hadn't read both books I wouldn't believe someone was so bold as to do this. I would of assumed that other Reviews were exaggerating but nope. If you want to read the original please do It's an amazing book.
This book is horrible! It is clearly a blantant RIP OFF of Barron's second chance by ST Moores. The similarities are glaringly obvious. The sex scenes were so cringy. If I had paid for this horrible book, I would be demanding a refund. This is trash!!!!
Blatant example of plagiarism. Overwhelming similarities to Barron’s Second Chance by S.T. Moors. The similarities are just too many to be coincidence. Returned to Amazon Kindle for refund.
