I was a man without a family… or so I thought. I came to tiny Majestic, Wyoming, to escape misfortune: the loss of my brother; my parents’ blame for it; the billion-dollar secret that caused it all. I find peace in my horses, in my friends, in quiet nights alone… and sometimes in remembering a scorching-hot one-night-stand from two years ago. But everything changes when Tully Bowman, the man behind that unforgettable encounter, turns up in Majestic bringing me the daughter I’ve inherited (along with her multi-million-dollar trust fund). Just like that, my peace becomes chaos, my quiet nights are filled with little Lellie’s cries for “Daddy,” and the heat between Tully and me becomes more than just a memory. Because it seems Tully’s planning to stick around… at least until I prove I’m a “suitable father” and not the fortune-hunter Lellie’s grandparents think I am. And the longer we spend together–the more he challenges and provokes me, comforts and calms me–the harder it is to remember why I ever thought one night would be enough. I’m a bad bet for fatherhood, but if I choose to keep Lellie and raise her as my own, it won’t be for her money. It will be because this precious girl and the man who brought her to me might be the fresh start and new family my heart has been looking for. And because the best thing that ever happened to me might just be… Inheriting Miss Fortune.

I only keep a small list of my very favorite books and series in my bookshelf here. I read A LOT and it's hard to keep the list updated!
This was fine. I can't say that I was super invested in the relationship between Dev and Tully or the custody battle. Everything felt far-fetched and unbelievable.
I read the bonus scene That Night after finishing this and I think it should have been a prologue to this book. At least in that way I would have found their chemistry and the relationship development somewhat convincing.
I do love their group of friends, though, and I enjoyed the scenes with all of them together the most. So far, book 1 is my favourite in the series, but I'm hesitantly looking forward to the next two. It seems that the one I want to read the most will be the last. I just hope it will be a good one, because I adore Kenji.
While I like Lucy Lennox's writing style, I didn't click with this book at all.
The baby (Lellie) was everywhere, with the entire story revolving around the custody battle. So many things just rang false:
- The deep connection between Tully and Dev after they spent a couple hours together two years prior. That's not how attachments are formed, and if neither could stop thinking about the other, why not, oh I dunno, text, Snapchat, Instagram? It's not hard to keep in touch these days.
- The immediate connection between Dev and the baby: Biology doesn't create bonds. Time does. Commitment does. Love does.
- Dev's reasons for insisting he can't take care of Lellie (despite the connection!) made zero sense. He's stable and wealthy, with a huge made family. He's the perfect candidate to be a dad, despite his terrible parents. At the very least, he could have hired an arsenal of nannies and carers.
- Katie's decision to name Dev as Lellie's guardian even though he was just the sperm donor, never met the baby, and had no desire to be a father. Manipulative much? Why was this just accepted?
- The kidnapping, fake DNA, and all the bullshit around the grandparents fighting for Lellie was nothing but lamma mamma all the drama.
Plus, I'm over reading about billionaires and trust funds and second homes. Billionaires make up approximately 0.000033% of the world's population. More than 98% of us will never even see a million, yet that's all we read and hear about. It's exhausting.
Bottom line: Cute enough story if you lurve babies and don't mind melodrama worthy of a telenovela.
Inheriting Miss Fortune is the third book in The Billionaire Brotherhood series by Lucy Lennox. I adore books with babies in them, and have been so looking forward to this book! It’s been quite awhile since I read the previous book so I wasn’t prepared for the complete drama in this one. For some reason, I thought it would be a little lighter. I finished it last night and have been struggling with how to rate it so I guess I’ll go with 4.5 since the story was wonderful and I did love the characters. It just weighed me down, made my heart heavy with all they were going through.
Devon McKay is the mysterious “ranch hand” on Silas and Way’s ranch. He is living in an apartment above the barn. He’s been in Majestic, Wyoming for about a year now and loves the quiet beauty of the area. He keeps his walls up and very few know who the real Devon McKay is.
Tully Bowman lives in Dallas and is a lawyer. He loves his job and works long hours. His goal is to make partner in the firm.
Tully and Devon had a mutual friend, Katie, who also worked for the same firm. Two years ago when Devon was in Dallas doing a favor for Katie, he met Tully and had a one night hook up. It was a night when after hours of talking, they just connected in that magical way that rarely happens. But they didn’t exchange contact information and neither has ever forgotten the other. Now, two years later, Tully shows up in Majestic with a baby looking for Devon. It seems Devon has been named as guardian for this little one year old. His world is about to be turned upside down.
Devon is convinced that he is not father material for this little angel. He feels responsible for the loss of his brother years ago and his parents feel the same way. And not everyone is happy with him being chosen as guardian. The baby’s maternal grandparents who are very rich, are determined that they will get guardianship of little Lellie no matter what they have to do to obtain it.
Tully stays with Lellie since he already has a relationship with Lellie to help Devon learn how to take care of her. And, he has to stay until Devon decides what he wants to do. Both are overwhelmed with the memories of the night they shared two years ago and the longer they are together, the more that initial connection grows into something more. But Devon is not leaving Majestic and Tully’s life is in Dallas.
There were so many things here. First, Devon’s overwhelming guilt regarding his brother’s death. His reluctance to become Lellie’s father also, but watching him fall in love with her was a beautiful thing. Also, the growing relationship between Tully and Devon. And lastly, the cold hearted, terrible people determined to take Lellie away from Devon. It all made my heart heavy but through it all, there was little adorable Lellie.
The next book in the series is Zane the rockstar and Ryan, his bodyguard’s book. There is a chapter at the end of this one that teases their story a little bit. I love bodyguard romance so I am excited about it.
Aww, little Miss Fortune is sharing her birthday with me.
This third book, like the previous one, is still a disappointment compared to the first book we all had a major blast with BUT I enjoyed listening to the audiobook for Dev’s and Tully’s kinda second-chance romance.
As much as I enjoyed this story I really wanted to knock some sense into Dev! I hate martyr characters and he made it so hard to like him for the longest time.
I liked the drama around the custody situation but it felt like it wrapped up so quickly and I'm not really sure on what actually happened!
I am really keen for Zane and Ryan's story now and I'm assuming that leaves Landry and Kenji... 🤞🏼
Devon's been an intriguing character since the beginning and I loved where Lucy took his story and how the man who's been hurting so deeply inside was able to start healing because of a selfless gift he made to an old friend.
This doesn't follow the usual path for a billionaire romance, in fact I'd say none of the stories in this series so far have. In each case money is rarely referenced unless it has a specific purpose and these men do not flaunt their wealth or waste it on ridiculous things.
Devon's been helping out at Way and Silas' ranch with the horse breeding program for a year when this book's story starts. He's still mostly isolated and grieving and dealing with the guilt heaped on his shoulders by his parents.
However, life comes crashing into full focus when his one-night stand Tully turns up with an infant he says is Devon's daughter and the knowledge that her mother is now sadly dead.
Slowly, Tully and little Lallie show Devon that he isn't the irresponsible person his parents have accused him of being, that he can make his own family and that he is the right person to raise his daughter.
There's hurdles in the way, of course there are otherwise it'd be a tad too easy, but all of them fit within the narrative and felt like a genuine course of action rather than just chucked in to create tension points.
Seeing Devon opening up and lowering the mile high walls he's held up even with his closest Brotherhood of friends, is joyous to read and I loved how Tully challenged Devon's perception of his character at every turn.
This is swoony, funny, emotional and entertaining throughout and it resonated with me on so many levels, irrespective of whether Devon's loaded or not!
It works as a standalone although you'd have more understanding of the setting where Devon finds himself if you've read at least book two.
I'm very much looking forward to book four, which will no doubt be a Lucy twist on the usual bodyguard trope with rock musician Landry and his protection agent Ryan. I'm expecting lots of spark and arguments leading to angry sex here please!
A bit drawn out. I wasn’t super invested in it, but the audiobook kept me entertained enough.
I mean… It’s Lucy Lennox. Plots don’t have to necessarily make sense, so it wasn’t the sum of all the plot twists and turns where you have to suspend your disbelief. I mean… a billionaire (whom almost nobody knows he’s super rich) “inherits” a toddler he was the sperm donor for? He stays away from relationships because he feels guilty because his brother died in an accident while driving a car he gifted him? The lawyer who’s in charge of the guardianship is his former hookup, and neither has forgotten about the other one? And the baddie is the pastor of a megachurch? And an equally unscrupulous lawyer?
Sure 🙄
But hey. It’s good fun. And while I’m not usually a fan of baby talk, Lellie (the toddler in question) was… cute. And I loved the small town setting, and Dev’s found family and their banter. And the grand finale made me happy, because of I’m completely honest, I wasn’t in the mood for big drama anyway.
Michael Dean, who narrates almost everything Lucy Lennox writes, did a good job and kept me entertained.
Looking forward to the next book, I like the bodyguard/rockstar trope 😍
“Sometimes the right people come into your life at the wrong time. They teach you lessons, too, and you’ll thank God for the gift of them, even if they can’t stay forever.”
To be a Grinch or a Grouch? That is the question. 😔 I do like the title; I'm always a sucker for a play on words, and Inheriting Miss Fortune was a clever one and nicely done. And, maybe I'm still new to MM romances two years since my foray into it, so perhaps more experienced readers are familiar with the writing style of Lucy Lennox; much like I've pretty much mastered the formula of Lily Morton. 😅 The thing that set me off right from the get-go was the lack of challenge of having the readers discern the challenge of having it blatantly obvious that Devon McKay was the certified choice for raising his daughter. 🥺
I mean, that opening was almost farcical in the way those righteous homophobes of grandparents were presented that it just seemed so unnecessary a conflict to exist. 🙆🏻♀️ From their attitude, to their respective professions, to their objections to Devon, to the way they behaved upon their first meeting. I mean, the mouth on that Pastor! And the nonsensical actions of the mother - the attempts they made to derail Devon, I was like, woah. It was upsetting to the point of being ridiculously cartoonish! It leaves so little room for some actual development to occur that I cannot decide if it is intentionally minimal angst or low-stakes drama with just some slight absurdities to act as obstacles for Tully and Devon not to be together, when in fact, they were pretty much destined to be. 🙍🏻♀️
“He’d been part of her life—an important part —from the beginning, and he’d want to stay in her life as much as possible.
Now, I just had to convince him there was a way for him to stay in mine, too.”
Especially when said conflict about how Tully has to choose his profession over his burgeoning attraction and affection for Devon becomes a moot point towards the end, one where I did not even see Tully have that breakthrough moment of deciding it for himself. It just happened, followed by in steady succession, his acceptance of Devon's sustainable wealth after some subtle surprises, and then the dissolution of any said hindrances of any legalities threatening them from being separated. 😕
I'm also not a father, let alone a parent, but aside from one uncomfortable run to the grocery store, Devon was pretty much a natural of a loving, responsible father with Lellie, despite his own personal reservation. I liked that he did have certain qualms about it, and finally accepted he was the only one he wanted to raise her, but I think some troubles would have been nice, if not believable to see. 😮💨 But, my rational side argues or well, remembers that scene from Three Men and Little Baby? When Jack arrives home after Peter and Michael have labored in anguish taking care of Mary, and well, after one disastrous first diaper change, she embraces him wholeheartedly. I always chalked it up to the fact that he skipped the whole hassle of not knowing what works and what doesn't, but maybe there is a natural bond between father and child that cannot be denied. 👨🏻🍼
Well, anyway..
“It took two lonely years, years in which I tried to forget him and failed, before my prayer was answered.”
Devon and Tully's chemistry and attraction stemmed from one explosive hook-up that sadly ended on a note of no fruition - on Tully's hopeful and wishful part, anyway. I'm glad there was a short story that gave a glimpse into that fateful night for all; Tully's eagerness to pursue a relationship was tangible, as well as his heartbreak at Devon's pained reluctance of not relenting because of his own personal struggles. 😞 But, neither forgot just how special that moment was - holding out on their romantic liaisons in order to not taint that magical night that sparks fly, but failed to be rekindled. Until now.
I liked Tully Bowman a bit more than Devon; well, I did not like that he judged to conclusions and assumptions a little too easily, or that he was still so hopelessly smitten with Devon so much so, that even when he had to choose between his job or his heart, there was very little stopping him from proving where his loyalty lay. 'I’m a onetime hookup and the man who’s never forgotten the taste of your friend’s skin…' 😟 He was a man on a mission, but he believed in right or wrong, which earned points for me. He was kindhearted and optimistic, a doting and loving parent to Lellie and he genuinely cared about his conscience. He took his job as a lawyer seriously, just as much as he valued his friendship with Katie and wanted what's best for her daughter. 'Sexy as fuck, and he can sit a horse', I liked that he did not hesitate to share his knowledge about being a ranch hand - even if he wanted to leave that part of his past behind him. It's facts and talents that don't fade that made him even more attractive to Devon for being a part of Fletcher Farms. 😊
“I want you in every way. I’ll do better at trying to be open with you. I promise.”
Devon was a bit of an ambivalent character for me to grow affectionate towards. The whole hiding his billions was not so much of a problem, as much as him overcoming his rational fear of not being the right person to raise Lellie. I felt for him for wanting to have a family of his own, and for one to just land into his lap like that may be of a surprise, but it became a welcome one - one he slowly envisioned building a life and future with. 👨🏻❤️👨🏻 'Just talk to me. I want to know you— the real you, not the one in my head.' I'm glad there were some who showed him sense that he shouldn't shoulder the guilt for so long, just as much as Lellie's warmth and presence made it harder to let go of her. I felt a bit uncomfortable at the decision Katie made regarding something of his parents; even now I'm not sure if I approved of how it was handled, but again, what do I know? 🙄
Their reunion immediately set off warnings in my head that we were heading in the direction of misunderstandings of assumptions of each other before the sparks would really hit it off. 'I’d hoped he’d tell me he’d missed me desperately all along. I’d wanted him to want me.' 🥲 Fortunately, it did not wade in those waters for too long, as Devon and Tully were forced to be together. But through some intense connections, some, some honest heart-to-hearts, and once they accepted that the fierce attraction they felt then was still very much present now, it was impossible to deny how deeply they felt for each other. Although the confrontation of said desire was a bit too abrupt for me! 😅
But, they were happy with each other, so why should I rain on their parade. 🥰 Devon grew to love and respect and trust Tully with his secrets and did not hesitate to prove that Tully was it for him, even when Tully doubted if he returned his feelings just as much as he did. 'I already knew he was it for me. I wanted it all. Him. Lellie. Majestic.' There was one moment that I really liked, though after Devon met his own parents and Katie's, which well, ended on disastrous results. That tender scene between them - it felt real - the comfort was palpable and I basked in how much they needed each other then. ❤️🩹❤️🩹
While I cared about Majestic and about the success of this great place, right now, I didn’t want to hear about any of it.”
Took the words right out my mouth, Tully. I am so ready to kick it into high gear out of this town that - okay, no disrespect to it for being so idyllic and welcoming for everyone - warm, inviting, vibrant, and fun' but... Call me paranoid, but there seemed to be a lot of extraneous name dropping for new characters and faces that I did not know why they were garnering so much attention. Almost as if LL was setting the stage for the potential of making a series out of this town by introducing these new faces so that they can also find their destined soulmate. 🙍🏻♀️
Perhaps it is not deliberate, but it is noticeable; maybe it is a test trial to see how readers respond to them, especially with the way the billionaire brotherhood is making their presence known in this quaint and hospitable Wyoming town. Indigo was a handful at first, but he earned his keep, Taza was peculiar, and well, maybe Foster does need his happily ever after all... and then that slight mention of Brady... Oh well, maybe I'm just reading too much into it. 😐 Like I said, what do I know? Even the inclusion of the brotherhood felt forced and just a segue into the next couple. I get that realistically they can't always be around, much like Devon has acknowledged, but that connection felt missing. Their friendship lacked the same spark that made them so endearing before.
There was Katie - ah, I'll keep mum about her, because once again, I've written too much as it is.
And of course, there's Kenji, the Q to their shenanigans and keeper of secrets - I'm sticking out for the Billionaires Brotherhood series (we finally have a name! 🥳) - just for him, because I am most curious to see how your possible romance will be brought to life. 💟
DNF @ 41% - I really do love this world and these characters but if I wanted to read about a child custody battle, I’d just go read a book about a child custody battle. Too much repetitive introspection on Dev’s part about will he or won’t he and it slowed the book down. Chapter after chapter of the two MCs and even side characters saying and thinking the same things that by 41% there was still no relationship development between the MCs and no forward movement of the story.
Books heavily featuring kids are not likely to ever be my favorite but this was enjoyable enough. I am definitely invested in the HEA's of the Brotherhood.
Oh my, this was another wonderfully written piece of work from The Billionaire Brotherhood series!
Tully and Dev shared one hot encounter, two years ago. Now they meet again under completely different circumstances. Tully brings Dev his daughter. Let me explain.
A few years ago Devon McKay, offered his sperm to Katie, an asexual woman who wanted a child. Around the same time he met Tully Bowman, who he had a very pleasant encounter with, just ones. Until this day they never met again, they also never forgot about it.
Tully is close with Katie, as a friend and as her attorney, sadly Katie died in a car accident. Leaving her daughter Lellie behind. Katie’s crazy religious parents want Lellie. But… In her will, Katie left full custody of Lellie’s biological father, Devon. Tully will bring her to Dev.
Little fact, Katie was very rich, so with her child also came a lot of money. Another little fact, Dev is a secret billionaire!
Tully’s boss (the grandparent’s attorney) made clear he knew which side he had to be on. Dev is instantly protective over Lellie, not sure if he’ll be the perfect parent, and certainly not sure to trust Tully.
Oh boy, a pool of vicious behavior came to the surface. Shame! Thank goodness for the outcome. Another thank goodness because the majority of people were supportive and loving! Hooray!
All the emotions are honest and real and presented at the right time. The arguments, fights, and easier conversations made so much sense. The attraction between both men was undeniable.
Gosh, I just love this author’s style of writing, it constantly surpassed my expectations. The story is logically and convincingly put together. With the best cast of characters, and a great plot! For me, it’s so satisfying to trust an author to be good. It makes reading so comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, it was a marvelous read. Looking forward to Zane’s story!
I was entertained by this but it was also a mess so I’m splitting the difference. The story follows reclusive Devon (age ??) who suddenly learns he now has custody of a daughter (Lellie) he fathered. After 15 month old Lellie’s mother dies, the mother’s close friend and attorney Tully (age ??) notifies Devon he is a sudden parent. An added kicker to this is Devon and Tully once slept together 2 years ago after a party their close friend, who is also Lellie’s mother, threw and neither have moved on from it. I’m going to get into spoilers so proceed with caution.

- First off, this book desperately needed a prologue where we see this unbelievable connection between Tully and Dev. Saying they slept together 2 years ago and it was life changing, but having no context made their entire relationship fall flat.
- I know people donate sperm all the time, but the idea Dev did it for a close personal friend and then was just never gonna see that friend again so he didn’t have to know if there was a kid was insane lol.
- Dev’s martyrdom *cue the long sigh* I get how crushing it would be for your parents to hate you and blame you for the death of your sibling, but he desperately needed more therapy. This is also never really resolved in my opinion.
- Being a secret billionaire continues to be the most obnoxious part of these books. So much unnecessary strife for something that could be explained away in 2 minutes.
- I actually found the custody and Dev growing into a loving parent the most entertaining part. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of it was silly but I can’t lie it kept me engaged.
Anyway, I think I’m still in a bad mood so take my opinion with a grain of salt 😆 I just want Kenji and Laundry’s book is that too much to ask?? ❤️😊
**4.5** I am a complete sucker for single dad romance and this one held me from the beginning with the slightly different premise in how Dev becomes a single dad. Tully and Dev have quite the ride of highs and lows together, physical, emotional and mental with everything they both have to deal with. Tully has lost a close friend and colleague and is charged with the task of bringing Dev his daughter, whilst inconspicuously finding out how his law form can stop that from happening. Lellie is just adorable and, though Dev is determined that he wouldn't make a good enough parent to her, she's a stubborn thing who has the power to change his mind. Dev is definitely a man who appears to prefer the company of a select few, and he, along with those few, have quite the secrets that Tully isn't privy to. It becomes a theme of Tully slowly finding things out about the man he is falling for over such a short time but it's absolutely not one sided. Both men are clearly into each other and they have a strong chemistry. It's the distance that is the hindrance, with both loving the job and life they have, at least that's the case before this devastating event changes the course of all three of their lives. The legal proceedings in this book seem a little hinky but I don't find it that surprising that money can influence those in power. There are several characters we don't like, including both sets of grandparents who don't help themselves, and Tully's boss seems a little shady. Dev is surrounded by a fantastic group of people, both his close friends that live far away and those that live in his small home town in Wyoming. It's clear they love him too and will help in any way to ensure the safety and happiness of him and Lellie. I can't believe this is my first read from this series! I'm definitely going back to read the others and highly recommend this one to everyone. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
"How was it possible this was happening? That he felt the same way I did? And more importantly... was that enough?"
I am really loving this series by Lucy Lennox. Of all the men in the Billionaire Brotherhood, I feel like Dev is the only one who would be described as just a genuine nice guy. He's richer than sin, but instead of flaunting it, he rarely spends a dime. His time is spent more with horses than people. Dev has the brotherhood, but other than them no one truly knows the real him. He doesn't let them, like being alone is his way of paying penance for his perceived wrongdoing. It really killed me when I realized how deeply Dev blamed himself for his brother's passing.
And then after years of solitude comes the surprise of a lifetime. Dev didn't realize what a gift Lellie coming into his life was immediately, but it didn't take him too long to figure it out. He was so good with her. It made me smile every time he would show his overprotective Daddy side. And I wasn't the only one. Because along with Lellie came another overprotective male in her life. Her momma's bestie and Dev's former one night stand Tully. A man he's spent more than one night reminiscing over.
Tully was an interesting man. He was smart and driven, yet he had a vulnerable side. It was so clear how much he adored Lellie and also Dev. I just loved them together. The three of them made up this lovely little family that both of them wanted, but believed they couldn't have. Of course The Brotherhood had to have their say about it. Say what you will about each of them, but they are always there when one of them needs it. A thrill seeker, an uptight businessman, a horse trainer, a rock star, and a dilettante. The first three have found their HEA's, and I cannot wait to see the rock star fall next!
This was super cute! 3.5 rounded up. The mix of second chance romance and single dad is like kryptonite to me!! I wish we had gotten to see more of Lellie and Dev together, and I wish Dev and Tully had more moments just themselves talking and catching up instead of them always being on the move and dealing with the outside drama, but overall this was very cute. Dev had so much baggage and I'm glad he got an addition support person in Tully to be another reminder that what happened to his brother was not his fault and that he has so many people who love him. It was missing a little bit of something for me but not worth getting rid of a whole star.
Fantastic characters, lively, sexy tale, and heartwarming, too !
Lawyer, Tully, must bring a daughter to a man, Devon, who knew nothing about her. But he also had to bring him the news that his BFF, Katie, died in a crash. Fifteen months old Lellie lost her Mommy, but has her daddy Devon, a billionaire ranch owner, one of the “brotherhood.”
Tully and Devon had a super hot night two years ago, but now there are legal matters to handle. Tully thinks Dev is just a ranch hand, and Lellie comes with big money of her own, so things are awkward.
Katie’s estranged parents are religious bigots and causing trouble.
The ranch is running well, Dev and Tully are enjoying their time with Lellie, and having sexy nights. The brotherhood men are taking a big roll here, with the he lawsuit, trickery and attempted kidnapping.
We feel he deep thoughts, see the deep love, the beautiful girl, and a forming of a chosen family, who will fight for justice.
This was beyond cute, especially if you’re into the “single dad with an adorable toddler meets a gruff loner” trope. Plus it had cameos from a wonderful cast of characters featured in previous books. The custody battle did drag on, but the MCs/toddler interactions made up for it in my opinion. Comfort food and steamy sexy scenes packaged all together in one.
The surprise baby trope is not for everyone but it is a secret tropey pleasure! If the first two books were up your street and you don’t know the ins and outs of babies or custody lawyerly things and you do appreciate rural settings, secret billionaire (wait he never did say he was o-O), a cinnamon roll MC and more - go for it :)
I think the pacing was well done for the most part except the ending felt rushed and the epilogue a bit sudden.

I like the series, a lot, (not the covers though. Not the cover models, not sure who is responsible for the art and casting). I like the ensemble cast, settings small details. But this I was kind of lukewarm about, felt a bit like a rehashed secret baby pregnancy plot but make it mm and that is hard to pull. A lot of a precious child also and the secondary characters and setting were all great, but the main couple's relationship seemed a bit off focus and not particularly compelling.
As usual for Lucy Lennox, plot and plot mechanics were above average, there was some chewiness to it that was welcome.
The series is feeling a bit overcrowded with the next two books, about the music star and his bodyguard (that plot seemed a bit forcefully shoved in) and the final one, set up since the first, the male girl friday of the secret billionaires and pouty model. I am a series atheist perhaps but it feeling so interconnected did this book no favors and I am not wanting the next books more.. I might be an outlier in that, though.
2-2.5 stars, rounded. This series is falling off so hard for me with each book. The first was perfect; I loved everything about it, especially the humor. The second was sweet and fun but not the greatest. And this one? Well…maybe I was too tired while reading it or just not giving it a fair enough chance, but it was a miss. I started skimming near the end because of how uninteresting the couple was. Dev was alright, but I expected more angst from him. Tully was fine but forgettable already. The saving point of this was the baby because she was so cute, and it’s always nice to see girl dads in books being portrayed nicely. Other than that, I’m losing interest in this series as a whole.
I had been looking forward to this but it was super disappointing. It didn’t feel like there was much character development or plot development. There was a shocking lack of chemistry between the two main characters. If the book had started with a prologue of their “instant connection”, maybe that could help but we just kept being TOLD there was a connection but I didn’t FEEL it.
I really wanted to like this one, but there's something between Dev and Tully that is lacking. Chemistry? Maybe. I liked Waylon and Silas story way better. I was curious about Dev before, but sadly his story didn't really work for me.
UGH… I so didn’t want this book to end, so good! I love Dev(Lellie) and Tully. The story was heartbreaking in certain parts and Dev, I needed to hug him many times and knock some sense into him, but yay, he finally came around. He has a lot of support and they’re all wonderful people and now he met his daughter and his love,he can have the happy he so deserves. Loved the book and so excited for next one in December!
