On day one of my reign, I mourned my father. On day two, I ordered the execution of all rival bosses and their underlings. And on day three, I became the Boss of Boston. -LeonLeon thinks he's untouchable. He’s a murderous mafioso who has wiped the town of competition and built up an underground empire like no other. He’s also built up enough walls around his heart that nothing but bloodshed gets his icy veins pumping. That is until one night when someone even colder than him slides into his office, and into his pants.
The passion between them is hot, but so are the tempers as each alpha male fights for dominion over the other. But there’s only room for one Daddy in this relationship, and it doesn’t take long until someone submits to the burn of desire.
Just as life seems to be lining up perfectly for Leon, betrayal gets served to him on the rocks when his new lover is taken by an enemy planning to bring down his reigning operation. Can Leon save his ice cube before it’s too late? Or will the only thing he loves more than blood, money, and power melt away before his very eyes?
When you don’t let anyone in, no one can hurt you. But what happens when an ice cube thaws your frozen heart?
Melt For Daddy is a standalone dark MM romance that follows a mafia boss and the sentient object ice cube who serendipitously shows up in his glass of whiskey. This is a dark book with dark themes, so please check all the warnings listed before diving into this tale of powerful men and their dangerous lives.
If you’re looking to escape the boundaries of reality that we are so often confined to, then look no further. Sentient-smutty-smut and literal personification of everyday items is what you’ll find here.

Not my favorite of Holly's - but I think it's just because I couldn't get behind all the "daddy's" and I didn't feel connected to the ice cube (what a sentence). I did like that this book had a darker plot/vibe than most of Holly's other books do. She's definitely diversifying. I'll always read these and I'll always have fun with it.
It surprised me that it wasn't pure smut. There was action! I thought it was a little cringey and confusing (did the ice turn humanoid or stay as a little ice cube?!)
Well, that was a thing I read. It said “A M/M Sentient Object Mafia Dark Romance” and that alone had me intrigued. But it was lacking in any kind of character development or relationship building. I get its pure humor smut, but like…I was hoping for more. While the absurdity of it all kept me reading, I didn’t get much out of it beyond that. I guess I like my wtf romances to have a bit more relationship in them? Or something. I don’t know. It’s smut with an ice cube. 😂🤷🏻♀️
What can I even say about Melt for Daddy? Holly Wilde has once again solidified her mastery of absurd, trashy fiction, delivering a whirlwind of chaos, laughter, and just enough spice to keep you thoroughly entertained. This book is pure gold in its ridiculousness, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Let’s start with that “what the fuck” moment: the fact that an ice cube has the power to make the head of the Boston mafia drop to his knees? I cackled. No, seriously—you heard that cackle. The absurdity of someone rubbing their, ahem, member with an ice cube had me laughing so hard my sides hurt. And yet, understanding temperature control, I get it. It makes sense in the most nonsensical way.
Wilde has truly made this genre her own. Her books are short, spicy, and absolutely unhinged. The more snippets I read of hers, the more I appreciate how she leans into the absurdity, turning it into something wildly entertaining. Trashy fiction? Sure. But also? Absolute gold.
In just one hour, Melt for Daddy gives you betrayal, whiskey, a club, dominance, ice-napping (yes, really), and murder. It’s fast-paced, ridiculous, and endlessly fun. If you’re in a funk or just need a quick, hilarious win, pick up one of Holly Wilde’s books. They’re fun, fiery, and guaranteed to leave you giggling like a maniac. Highly recommend.
Most Sentient romances are fun, light hearted, make you giggle or make you wonder how you could feel for the object…but Holly…well she is the dark romance queen of Sentient romance. It will never not surprise me when I read a book by Holly that is a dark romance. Who knew I would ever read about an ice cube that brings a mafia king to his knees in a puddle of the red warm liquid from the man they just un-alived as he crests his pleasure while being the one in control…I mean…that was not on my BINGO card…LOL
4.25 yeah that was fun! Probably one of my Holly Wilde favourites. That's one cheeky ice cube and I loved the dynamic and how quickly the big bad mafia boss went batshit crazy for his ice daddy!
for an inanimate object 🌶 book this had vaguely more plot than others. I enjoyed it laughed out loud at many parts, it was enjoyable and Leon most definitely enjoyed Daddy
A little mafia with your sentient object anyone? This was a fun twist and has me rolling reading it. Sentient ice cube, big tough mafioso boss who's only soft for his ice daddy... yeah. You gotta read this one. Mafia romance lovers and sentent object lovers UNITE!
I have so many questions. So, so, so many questions and I wish I had answers for them.
Like... how did this happen? How did an ice cube become sentient? How did it know who he was talking to? How did he know his men were gonna turn on him? How did he fucking knowing things? For the love of god, some backstory would be nice.
Why did our Mob Boss turn into a pansy the second he was ordered to be called Daddy? That doesn't seem... possible? Compete personality shifts coming out of no where, the promise of steamy sex scenes that never really came and a 0-100 situation... it was all a little too much for me.
This was the most vanilla sex she's every written and this was not the one to hit me with that.
I want to say I enjoyed this, and I guess I kind of did but more in the "Wow, what did I just read" spectacle kind of way.
Many Sentient romances are enjoyable and whimsical, often eliciting laughter or prompting reflection on one's feelings for the subject. Who would have imagined that I would encounter a narrative featuring an ice cube that brings a mafia king to submission in a pool of the warm red liquid from a man they have just killed, all while he experiences pleasure and maintains control? This certainly was not something I anticipated.
I have read a lot of interesting things in the name of curiosity, but ice cube smut was not on my bingo card. How this man falls in love with an ice cube he met 24 hours ago is beyond me. How is this a sustainable relationship? Anyways, the vibes were good and a mafia boss letting an ice cube boss him around and make him call him Daddy was what this promised and then delivered so I guess I did know what I was getting into.
Didn’t see this on my 2025 bingo card but here we are…guess there really is something for everyone lol. Honestly kinda curious about what happens next but also wondering if the form of the ice cube could be changed to be bigger?? and does he stay in a freezer at some point to not melt all the way
This is a fun, spicy novella about a very naughty icecube and his mafia man. I didn’t know an ice cube could be so kinky and yet here we are. Holly Wild does sentient, kinky novellas so well and they’re always a fun, quick read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a fun spicy MM sentient read! I love how Holly puts a fun spin on her novellas! There’s just enough story and spice to keep you entertained and turning the pages. I didn’t know an ice cube could get so naughty!
It gets one star because of the M/M but it wasn’t for me. My wife and I read this one together and I think we’re either traumatized or trauma bonded over this. I was relieved when it was over. I’ll never look at a cube the same way again 🧊
READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS: ALL OF THEM!! This book covers a wide range of intense themes. Let’s meet the characters: Leon: A Spoiler/Plot: Hilarious Smut involving inanimate objects.
Listen. The descriptive imagery was amazing yet baffling. I could see what was happening but was also uncomfortable and confused by it 😂 Bravo to the author.
