***Author’s Warning—there is a pet death in this book, but it happens in the past and mostly off-screen. The female main character is also a survivor of SA, which also happens in the past and off-screen. Please read responsibly and I promise, everything works out in the end because I would never write a book without a HEA
*Each book in the Monstrum Kindred series is a complete, standalone monster romance within the Brides of the Kindred Universe. Guaranteed happily ever afters, no cliffhangers. And if you've never read anything in my Kindred universe before and you want to dive in at the very beginning, the first book, Claimed, is always available as a free download everywhere. Hugs and Happy reading! Evangeline
Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.
I started reading the first chapter before January 26th, but because I was reading another book, I only read the book in earnest. (Though I paused reading a wildly popular old historical romance novel from 1989 to read this one. (It will bother me later if I ever come back to this review, so I'll reveal its identity: Morning Glory.) I wish I had enjoyed this a bit more because I bought this, along with Posing for Their Pleasure, by her as a result of her 10% birthday discount being a member of her Aliens & Alpha online bookstore. So you can say this was a birthday present to myself.
This one wasn't my favorite by Evangeline even though the heroine was blind, which was interesting and seemed well-researched, because her adventure Kindred books are my favorite. This had an adventure to another planet known as Tengula Five, a planet geared toward blind people, but Abbey and Solon only went there more than halfway through the novel (I don't count all the back matter as pages of the story, so it was more than halfway). I thought how the story got so much more interesting when they arrived there because as much as I love her books, Evangeline is better at writing sexual development (and adventure!!) than romantic development, probably because she tells the reader that the two have talked for hours instead of showing us some of their conversations.
And unlike most of her novels, the world they go to isn't an ominous one where everything goes wrong, and the hero and heroine face insurmountable obstacles. Rather, Tengula Five was mostly sunshine and rainbows for Abbey and Solon. Abbey's many-eyed pet she adopted, Spex, was adorable. Back to Abbey being blind--I'm tired so forgive me for this review's lack of organization--the first chapter or so, Evangeline painstakingly described the whole process of her morning routine from waking up (from having arousing dreams of Solon) to cooking an egg. I felt like I was going blind myself, so I was glad the rest of the book wasn't like that, as I felt I could start over-empathizing and imagining myself as blind too much. I Googled the app Be My Eyes and thought about downloading it, but I wonder how many calls per day you get, and what if you're too busy to take a call from a blind person and describe something. I'd like to download it some time, though.
This book had me laughing out loud several times, so even though it's not a comedy, I'm tagging it "funny-at-times". There was one glaring typo at 6%; Abbey's name was changed to Molly, which threw me off.
I love escaping into the Kindred universe and especially enjoy the Monstrum Kindred. Chosen by the Chimera is especially enjoyable because the heroine is legally blind with a history of trauma and the personal baggage that comes with it but she is strong enough to not only overcome such events and circumstances, she sets boundaries and goes for what she wants. The hero loves her unconditionally and wants the best for her in all things. This story has action, adventure, sex and romance and I could see it developed into a movie that would appeal to everyone. I definitely recommend the book as well as the other Kindred novels.
On a personal note after reading the author's notes at the end the story, I want to say I loathe the idea of buying an A.I. created book and believe the few typos and grammatical errors Indie authors sometimes make can be humorous but definitely show the author as a human who can make mistakes like the rest of us. I personally like finding errors though I can't remember many, if any, in this book. Saying that, I believe anyone who wants books written by real people need to not only stand up for Indie authors but demand that booksellers identify books they sell that are AI created. I only switched to e-books because arthritis and aging eyesight has made reading paper books much more difficult. I do not want to spend my money on AI created works and should have that right.
This was a wonderful read, very different characters and circumstance I recommend highly Abbey Lennox is blind and lives a life that has isolated her from others, this has left her feeling extremely lonely and this has brought her to the attention of an individual that will try and kill her given the chance. After she managed to survive one terrible attack she is put under the care of a large and determine Monstrum warrior, Solon is one of the Kindred and tells her that he is her fated mate and that they are meant to be together as the goddess wills. When she is touched by Solon she is surprised at the physical response he is able to appreciate her wariness and senses her fear of him. As her fated mate this is something he is unable to understand but knows that only time and patience will bring him the answer. Solons ability enable him to sense emotions that he is attuned to and he trusts and prove to her that he wants nothing more than to keep her safe, love her and make her happy. However, when evil from her past comes back to haunt the wonderful couple everything that the Kindred Warrior has learned will be brought into use especially his senses if he is to keep her safe. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
This was a terrific Monstrum novel! This series is one of my favorites by Evangeline Anderson. It the Kindred but better because I love me some monsters I really do wish I cou!d have one of my own. This one felt with so.e series themes. Abbey has a rare form of blindness that has started to get worse since she was a child. On too of that she's been assaulted more than once because others see he as easy prey. She doesn't trust easily but when Solon enters her life things change. Solon a Chimera Kindred has been dream sharing with Abbey for months he's finally found her. But instead of the eager bronze he was hoping for he found someone distrustful and scared. As they get to know one another Abbey past comes out and she learns to trust Solon hand the way he feels about her. Will secrets that come to light tear our happy couple apart or will their relationship just grow strong with each challenge they face! You need to read and find out! 🌶🌶 , fun, dangerous and truly different do to the rare blindness of the female lead it so well worth reading thing you will love it! Highly recommend🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥💖🌟🔥🌟💖🔥💖💖🌟🔥🌟💖🔥💖🌟🔥💖💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥
At the beginning of Chosen by the Chimera, the author’s warning lets the reader know that Evangeline Anderson would never write a book that didn’t have a HEA (Happily Ever After). That is absolutely the case in this Kindred book. After an awkward beginning, the male (Solon) and female (Abbey Lennox), our two main characters, end up together on the Monstrum Mother Ship. They do so well together that they are sent to another planet on a diplomatic mission. When the mission ends successfully, all that comes to a crashing end. If you are familiar with Ms. Anderson’s work, you know to expect plenty of steam mixed with angst, anger and misunderstandings. The steamy scenes begin near the beginning of this novel and last all the way through. If I could, I’d give this book 10 stars! It’s a beautifully written novel, and Ms. Anderson has earned more that one pat on the back.
So, they know that the aliens use a scent to draw their matches but the women aren’t smart enough to put Vicks under their nose so they can see if they even like the guy without some weird chemical fogging their brains? And this guy lied over and over again yet within 12 hours she stays with him, after being abused by someone else who lied to her? When she found the worse lie out she’s still hoping he comes back for her! It’s all kinds of awful as the lies (and him pushing feelings into her but not telling her how much!) would have made any sane woman keep him groveling and courting for a year at least! She went from zero to sixty in a minute despite having been raped and sexually assaulted. Have one in future books use Vicks and have a backbone and maybe actually fall in love with the guy, not just drugged by him.
Oops! I just wrote a review for this book under a different Evangeline Anderson book, Seeing with the Heart. That is what happens when I read on my paper white but write reviews on my fire! Sheesh! Anyways, I finished this book last night and I loved it. I loved Abbey, so frightened of a relationship due to her traffic past. But her monstrum was patient and gentle, he was perfect for her. And the retribution, loved it! Bloody good! BTW, I had already read Seeing with the Heart, and I loved it too. For some reason I had not yet written a review on it. Both books deserve 5 stars.
Solon and Abbey's story was full of love, lust, past pain and fear. They are fated mates, chose to be by The Goddess. She is never wrong in her pairings, never. I will make this review short and sweet. In this we are given a beautiful woman, handsome Kindred, adorable eye-pet Spex , danger, fear and anger. The love story was beautiful and I must say there is a very extremely satisfying punishment doled out.....VERY. The author is extremely good at visuals. The way she describes a smell, touch, look or action is amazing. Her work never disappoints!
“Chosen by the Chimeta0: A novel of the Monstrum Kindred by Evangeline Anderson. Each and every story is original and a great read! Solon the Hot, sexy Monstrum Warrior has it all. Abby has traumas from her past and Solon is the one to help her get past her fears. They had a tenuous start but once the sparks started to fly…..the air became electric! Evangeline Anderson kept the suspense going, story was fast- paced and a beautiful love story was gifted to us the reader. Thank you, Evangeline!
I’ve loved the Kindred warriors from the start. This one really blew me away. The author was able to take the handicap of blindness (legally blind) and create a whole world that centered around those who were blind and cherished them. They weren’t seen as a problem but were seen as blessed. She found so many unique ways for them to live in that world that were amazing. Then there is her two main characters. Abbey who never let her blindness stop her and Solon who only wished to show her his love. A great sci-fi romance that I highly recommend.
Wow. I actually laughed out loud. I got teary-eyed a few times. And I got really angry a few times...on behalf of the FMC and her past.
Semi spoiler alert:
The FMC is legally blind, but is living very independent life. She had been a victim of rape and attempted rape and suffered from PTSD. The MMC, her Monstrum Kindred, is patient and loving, and exactly what she needs. The author handled all of the above in a sensitive and compassionate way that was not making the FMC seem less than. I am also glad the author did not miraculously cure her blindness.
This was a brilliant book. I love how they get to know each other on a mission to a planet where Abbey is totally comfortable being but it also goes to show how things can go wrong if you are not honest.i love the way the author has highlighted how difficult it can be being blind or disabled and how people tend to treat disabled people. I love the happy ending tho. Absolutely amazing book and definitely worth a read.

Abbey and Solon have a bumpy start but as they spend time getting to know and understand each other, they begin to truly care about each other. There are past events in Abbey's life that come roaring into the present to complicate and threaten their relationship possibly separating them permanently. Read this fantastic Monstrum Kindred novel and experience travel and romance in a uniquely sensual way.
Another fun read by this wonderful author. Abbey, sight impaired and conquering the world attracts a Monstrum Kindred Solon. They've been sharing dreams for quite some time. She's untrusting of men due to past terrors. Solon is horrified and vows to be patient with her. Their adventure takes them to another planet, revenge in other places and danger. Such an entertaining read.
As always these Kindred stories never disappoint, another fantastic read. This book had the right amount of steam, angst, anger, and misunderstanding. To keep you hooked from beginning to end. So looking forward to the next book and this amazing series. As always, my book reviews are totally voluntary. No monetary compensation was received and the opinions I’ve expressed is completely my own.
This story was so good; loved the details for a person who is legally blind, it was very informative. Also loved the interactions that occurred during mission to another planet. My favorite is when Solon goes into rage 😡. Hope this book goes to audiobook quickly; I can’t wait. Keep them coming Evangeline!
This is a lovely story with just enough love, just enough romance, just enough violence, and just enough Goddess. I kept waiting for the heroine to be "healed", but sometimes, healing takes different faces and the Goddess does just enough. And all the bad guys get it!
This book was awesome. The characters were written with such depth and personalities. It is a great example to show you that a disability doesn't have to stop you from having a great productive life. Loved it.
Wow, just wow! Abbey is legally blind and Solon of the Monstrum is dream sharing w/ her. As the Kindred have a contract w/ Earth to protect the planet from invader, Solon doesn’t understand why Abbey emphatically refuses to enter into the claiming period w/ him. Though I have no personal experience w/ blindness I think Evangeline does a fabulous job writing about Abbey’s experiences. Solon devotes himself to making Abbey happy and safe however he neglects to be honest about one teeny tiny thing…. As w/ all Kindred novels there is a HEA and plenty of hotness and steam to end up there!
