Foundations of Archdisciplinarity: Advancing Beyond the Meta

Rate this book
Overview
If we are to solve for the complex challenges our species faces, we need to have as accurate understanding of ourselves, the world, and the universe as we can. Many scholars have taken on the task of reaching towards this apex of human understanding by fitting together everything humanity has learned across any and all domains. Such models are named under different umbrella terms such as “transdisciplinarity”, “big picture framework”, “theory of everything”, “perennialism”, and “integrative metatheory”, among others. However, there are now hundreds of authors of unification frameworks, each uniquely different from each other. Ironically, unification theorists have often fallen into competition with each other, and unification frameworks have themselves become fragments of a more comprehensive coordination awaiting in latency. Archdisciplinarity represents this more comprehensive coordination. It is the scope of scholarly inquiry that treats big picture, theory of everything, unification frameworks as units of analysis, the identification of golden threads that can be used to reconcile fragmentation amongst unification frameworks into higher order theory, and the fulfilling of our potential towards solving for the complex challenges our species faces.

Synopsis
Foundations of Archdisciplinarity 2nd Edition consists of nine chapters. After the introduction (Chapter 1), the book outlines scopes of scholarly inquiry (Chapter 2), scales of theory (Chapter 3), and stages of sociocultural evolution (Chapter 4), situating archdisciplinarity, archtheory, and archmodernism as the natural progressions beyond transdisciplinary, metatheory, and metamodernism. This is followed by a description of archdisciplinary research, how unification frameworks can be classified, and how archdisciplinary study and practice can be done, with three examples of archdisciplinary methodology (Chapter 5). The book continues with an explication of the golden threads that persist across the meta of big picture, theory of everything frameworks that have attempted to fit all of human knowledge together into coherent frameworks, termed arches. The arches proposed are universal computation, complexity, fracticality, permeative boundaries, universal grammar, integrative levels, universal architectures, universal processes, ruliad, and singularity. Each arch is proposed in way of theorems, axioms, and corollaries (Chapter 6), their natural relations discussed (Chapter 7), which is then followed by a systematic demonstration of their universality across three universal classes of reality – matter, life, and mind (Chapter 8). The book concludes some responses to dissent about archdisciplinary notions, with some words on anticipations for the Archdisciplinary Research Center (Chapter 9).
