Wardin, Jr., reared in the German Baptist Conference in America (today known as the North American Baptist Conference), previously taught in two Conservative Baptist institutions in Oregon. He produced the Baptist Atlas in 1980, which examined Baptists worldwide. Wardin also wrote a pamphlet for the Baptist History and Heritage Society, titled Doing Diversity Baptist Style: Major Variations (1991), and Baptists around the World (1995). In addition, Wardin's academic interests concern Baptists in Eastern Europe and in Tennessee.
