The poems celebrate the luck we have to be alive now, while expressing fears for the future due to the current climate and extinction crisis.
The poems in the first section, ‘Our Human Condition’, reflect concerns about our place as human beings among other living things in our increasingly troubled world. The poems assert the importance of joy and delight while acknowledging the plight we find ourselves in amid the climate and extinction emergencies.
The second section, ‘Time and Being’, follows the changing seasons over the year, their pleasures and frustrations.
The third and final section, ‘Invisible and Visible’, contains reflections and memories of my life, beginning with my childhood in Africa and going on to look towards my old age.
