What a wonderful book (workbook, actually)! Several "older" (spiritually mature) women in our church mentored 7 of us "younger" women (we were called "apples") for 6 weeks (one evening per week). We met each week at one of the apple's houses and had a cooking lesson and then a Bible study (where we discussed a chapter in the book), and then we all sat down to eat the dinner that was prepared (always delicious!). Each week the "greeter" hugged and welcomed us at the door and gave us a little gift that had to do with the lesson (e.g., hand sanitizer for purity), and at dinner there was always a little momento to go with the meal (e.g., a recipe box, a dish towel). We discussed topics such as loving our husbands, loving our children, and hospitality. The older women in the church are commanded in the Bible to mentor and nurture us younger women, and what a fantastic experience that was! All the godly advice and wisdom--and cooking secrets to boot! The seventh week was our celebration dinner, where the apples invited our husbands (date night--no kids!), and they were encouraged to talk about how the study has affected us at home.

I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful "Apples of Gold" program to any church! God has truly blessed the women in the church and the younger women need to tap that knowledge of the older women.

Obviously, the content of this workbook will be greatly enhanced if you are going through an Apples of Gold program with older women teaching this material and giving their insight and wisdom (which I was). However, you could still gain much from the biblical instruction and wisdom found here to apply from this study on your own in the areas of kindness, loving your husband and children, submission, purity, and hospitality. Rooted in Scripture and with many practical tips and recipes, it is a book that I will be referring to, studying, and trying to put in to practice for the rest of my life.

I loved my Apples of Gold mentors and friends! I am really going to miss meeting together each Thursday night, learning and trying new recipes together! This study made me refect on my duties as a wife, mother and Christian woman. There were some very powerful, thought provoking questions. I will highly recommend this book to any married woman!

Although I didn't agree with everything in this I greatly appreciated the practical outline for begining mentoring relationships. Its a great starting point.
