BeaElias Vasilios, the lead singer of forever summer, is the epitome of an arrogant, broody rockstar... and i've just returned from a European gap year to discover that he’s my new stepbrother. he’s utterly forbidden to me, for so many reasons, but his sinful body and filthy mouth have drawn me into his orbit against my will and better judgement.
EliasMusic has always helped keep the demons of my past at bay. The rhythmic beat, the sweeping melody, the haunting lyrics. But when that dark past resurrects itself in the form of my new stepsister, nothing is going to pull me back from the edge of destruction and damnation. Beatrice Kirkland is not ready to become my ultimate obsession. My demons won’t just destroy me, they’ll bring her crumbling to her knees beside me.
I'd been in a bit of a reading slump before I started this, but this DEFINITELY brought me back! The tension between Elias and Bea throughout the entire book had me giggling like a schoolgirl, not to mention 'Duchess' 🥵
Bea's struggle to accept her feelings is totally relatable, being torn between wanting to make her family happy with what they THINK she wants, and actually embracing what she truly wants for herself. Not just that, but Eli gathering the courage to finally tell Bea about his past was really admirable. He did it to protect her, and it was kind of refreshing that she didn't jump to conclusions and blow it out of the water. Both of their character growth was fantastic to see.
I had very few negative notes for this book, though Elias' consistent sexual thoughts was slightly annoying. This book was one of the best I've read in a fair while, kudos to JL Skye!
This was my first rockstar romance with a dark tinge to it.
For the first half of the book I felt that the spice to story ratio was off. That is not to say that it was just all spice scenes but the main focus was on that and a lot of the dialogue between the MCs and also their inner dialogue was focused on that. It also felt a little unrealistic that the parents who are supposed to be close with their kids, particularly the father and daughter, would have married without telling them or even saying anything about the relationship prior.
I enjoyed the second half of the book at lot more and found that the stalker and mystery storyline was interesting. I liked that there were a few chapters from the antagonists POV as well which added to the intrigue. For me the spicy scenes were mostly written well, a couple of times they were a little unbelievable. All in all it was an ok read and I thought that the ending was wrapped up well. Not sure if I will read the rest of the series.
“No one will keep us apart, and I will burn the world down to be with you.”
4⭐️ I loved that it was set in Australia and all the landmarks I knew being in my home city! It doesn’t happen often so I love it. The plot twists at the end really sold it for me. I didn’t pick any of them and they were so well crafted! Well done.
It took me a while to work out their not like big time famous yet and are unsigned musicians. I was really confused for a while and wondering why they still loved at home after playing at festivals and concert halls. Some of the plot elements became repetitive at times like how they shouldn’t be doing this because their step siblings, how she reminds him of someone else and how broken he is from past events.
Good read in the end and I’m curious to read the next in the series!
Tropes: Forbidden Love, One Night To More, Step Sibling, Rockstar Triggers: Drug/Alcohol Use, Mentions of Sexual Abuse and Dubious Consent
This book had me hooked! I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it and the pacing and would for sure recommend it to anyone. The story follows Bea & Elias who're step siblings and Elias is also part of a band called 'Forever Summer'. Elias comes onto Bea quite strong/cocky per say and she doesn't want to give in to his possessiveness at first but eventually she does, there's a lot of temptation throughout the book. They try sneaking around but aren't as sneaky as they think sometimes.
Kind of a HEA, certain characters need to come to terms with their relationship by the end.
Also, keep a lookout for black_rose13, very interesting

This was not dark, this was not rockstar, this WAS stepsiblings though. But like, their parents weren’t around to treat them like stepsiblings. So, you don’t really get that “taboo” vibes.
There is a line in this book that says “after the accident he couldn’t play professional sport anymore.” Professional sport! Not a specific sport, not multiple sports, just one unspecified sport. I wanted to DNF at page two when the MMC says “you know it bro”, but I didn’t. I should have after the professional sport comment.
Now, the mystery behind this book, the entire plot behind this book, was so rushed and full of plot holes. This was just so messy and we hear a lot off page. Seriously, we get the mystery plot the last 15% of the book. An hour of readying time. (Yes I will be trying out book 2)
This is the third book I started for 2025 yet somehow managed to be the first book I finished.
As is with all of my book clubs book of the month that I do end up reading - I was unable to put this book down!
I liked everything about it from the characters to the storyline, but holy moley was that some plot twist!
I enjoyed every second I spent reading this book, and while I couldn't guarantee that I would read it again - I'm sure glad I took the time to read it now.
I really enjoyed this one, I picked it up thinking it was going to be a cute rockstar romance to cleanse my palette after some really dark reads. But to my surprise it was much more.
It was a little taboo (step siblings), but they were adults already when their parents got married. The spice was hot 🔥, but the suspense and mystery really kept me intrigued. And the little twist at the end, had me shook. I didn’t see it coming.
It was so easy to read, and fast paced. I’m excited to read Forbidden Love and see where Oli and the other Rockstars story goes ♥️
REVIEW: It wasn't my favorite. I didn't really like the writing. I didn't like the storyline or the characters that much. I'm not going to read the rest of the series. Didn't grab my attention enough to want to read their stories. It felt too juvenile. They felt too young. Too rushed at the beginning. And too rushed at the end. Some scenes were too dramatic. Some parts were too fake. Just wasn't for me.
What a roller coaster of a ride and I enjoy every single moment! The twist and turns in this book will have you on the edge of your seat, don’t think this is a simple rockstar step brother romance. JL Skye writing once again is perfection!
Oh this book was fun. I really loved the dynamics between Elias and Bea. Super hot and sexy. The plot twists kept me reading to see what happened. Exciting and fast paced and never a dull moment. Cannot wait to read book2z
Saw a few people suggest this book so I figured I’d give it a go. Glad I did as it was the best read I’ve had all year (it’s Jan 4th) I had been in a slump and this has got me out of it. Highly recommend
Such a wonderful read. If you aren't into step sibling romance I'd avoid however I really enjoyed the story and spicy scenes. There is a wonderful twist towards the end and a hint towards the next book in the series that is making me want to read more from JL Skye.
Almost gave up during the first 50-100pages but oh my god and I glad I kept reading was not expecting to be so shocked and satisfied with the ending of this book
I finished this book which was touch and go for quite a while. This guy seems to be ‘oozing’ so much I thought he might dehydrate and the obsession over ‘tightness’ was overdone and annoying. My goodness this needed some editing and synonyms.
Wow!!! What an epic start to a new serie!! I absolutely adore everything jlskye writes but this book just hit different! Loved eli and Beas story and can’t wait for the next book.
Part way through reading this book, I downloaded book 2 and preordered book 3. I really enjoyed this book, and the storyline really kept me intrigued right til the end.
Definitely one's to buy physical copies of for the trophy shelf
This one’s a step-sibling romance, so it might not be for everyone—but rest assured, there’s no blood relation.
Definitely check the trigger warnings before diving in.
This book pleasantly surprised me in the best way. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and wow—what a twist at the end!
As a Melbournian, I loved reading about familiar places. It added an extra layer of depth, making the imagery feel more vivid and real.
The characters were vibrant and full of personality and kept you captivated in the story.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this book overall and flew through it quickly. I’ll definitely be moving on to book two, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to dip their toes into the dark romance genre.🥀
Spice: 🌶🌶.5 out of 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 The spice was enjoyable, with great tension between the characters. Id say its on the mild end of the scale but may be just enough for you!
Wow just wow! This is the first book I have read of JL Skyr and I’m obsessed If you love rockstar romance, step siblings and some suspense then you need to check this one out
