Broken Magic. Forbidden Desire. One Deadly Chance.
Ever since I was rescued, nothing's been the same. Especially me.
The scars I can handle. The panic attacks and violent voice in my head? I'm learning to live with those too. But when the leash on my growing darkness begins to fray, I know it's not long till I snap.
My healing magic is now a weapon. And Killian—my brother's best friend and an incubus with a reputation darker than sin—might just be my only hope.
When I'm forced to seek answers in the very place I escaped, he appears like a demon summoned—armed with a wicked smirk and an offer I can't refuse.
I should say no.
His offer is dangerous. Every touch is a risk. But my magic is unravelling. Hunters are closing in. And Killian looks at me like I'm both his salvation and his destruction.
Some demons are meant to devour you. Some are meant to claim your soul.
Hellish Witch is a full-length, steamy fast-burn paranormal romance, with fangs, tail action and a possessive demon who will never let his witch escape his clawed clutches. See author website for TWs.
The Playing with Demons series is best enjoyed in order for spoilers and the overarching story. Each instalment follows a different couple to their own HEA. Although it can be read as a standalone romance, it is recommended to read Take Me to Hell (Playing with Demons, Book 1) first.
Sakura Black is a British author who spends her days pretending to be a sensible adult. Most of the time, she gets to write steamy fantasy and paranormal romance, often dreaming up wild stories about frightfully sweet monsters and the women they’re lucky enough to fall horns over tail for.
This was entertaining from start to finish. I truly felt every emotion that Eve felt. Killian slightly broody with a smart/filthy mouth. He's very protective over Eve even though she thinks it's because she's his best friend's little sister. But she finds out his feelings for he were far deeper. Just wiah it was dual pov. That would've been epic.
I am doing my very first book review. Please take that into account for my lack of experience.
I've read the two prior books released in the series, Take Me to Hell and Capturing Sin, which I enjoyed, and it prompted me to be part of the ARC group. You don't have to read the other books in the series, but it does help for the back stories of the other characters.
Hellish Witch features Killian, an incubus and Eve who is half demon and half mage. I like that Sakura Black has main characters that are not 'perfect' and are easily relatable. Killian and Eve both have tortured pasts that manipulate the decisions they make. Eve's mage magic is healing , but being a hybrid it fuels her insecurities. She didn't know her mage father and lost her demon mother when she was younger. She was then left into the hands of her mothers sisters, who mistreated her, so she ran away to the hybrid kingdom. Rex, the demon king of this kingdom, becomes Eve's chosen relative, referring to him as her brother while other times as Uncle. Rex's queen, Zoella, is a witch and like a sister to Eve. They lean on each other to learn about their respective magic since neither have any experience, which typically would come from an elder. Killian is an enforcer in the hybrid realm, after being taken in by Rex when he was found malnurished and beaten. Killian and Eve share that bond of both being 'rescued' by Rex within months of each other and living better lives in the hybrid realm with their new chosen family. Eve has harbored feelings for Killian since he is an incubus. Eve doesn't believe that he returns these feelings. Killian flirts and plays at being a sexual incubus, but he has constantly insinuated that they are not friends nor if he want Eve to touch or heal him when injured. These 'rejections' only confirm to Eve that she has no chance of being with Killian.
The story finds Eve as a prisoner of the demon hunters in the human realm. She was lured there by a boyfriend who sold her to the demon hunters. Her brother, his queen, and his enforcers come to her rescue. Little do they know, during Eve's incarceration, her magic change from healing to hurting people. After her rescue, her healing magic is still non-existent, but she finds that under duress, the hurting magic continues to resurrect itself, and those all around her get impacted. She is scared of hurting her family and that her one true reason for living in the hybrid kingdom, being able to heal, is lost to her. Even though Eve lives in the hybrid realm where all kinds are welcome, she encounters bullying from the other members. Some of this comes from her not having any typical characteristics of a mage or demon. Killian gets caught in the cross fire of one of the hurting incidents and forces Eve to go to her queen for help.
Since Zoella and Eve have no proper training in their magic, she would need the help of a coven to see if she can contain the hurting magic and find her healing magic. Rex and Zoella make plans to go with her to the human realm to locate a coven, but Eve doesn't want to endanger them. She decides to go on her own and cross the Bloodwood forest to the portal that will take her to the human realm, which is fraught of dangers. Her lonley trek becomes a duo when Killian comes to her rescue? Or is it duty to his king that makes Killian ingratiate himself on this journey? Another suprise tag along is of the furry kind, a hellcat, that Eve can't make head nor tails if she is a friend or frenemy.
The tension between Killian and Eve is what keeps the reader engaged. But with both of them having their own battered histories and Eve's insecurities of her place in the kingdom as well as not being self assured in herself as a hybrid, will they be able to be together?
I hope that you chose to read Hellish Witch. I highly enjoyed it so much so that I read it twice during the week since I downloaded it. Partly because I needed to work on a review, but mostly because I really liked these two characters and the tension between them.
NOTES>Check your trigger warnings. ARC Review. probably spoilers. read at your own risk.
✅Brothers best friend. I am here for it. ✅Touch her and perish. i am here for it. these are like my FAVS. ✅incredible Schmex scenes ... while flying. yes please. (theres a tail scene too. )
Killian from the beginning "and yet id break every rule for you" and "if i find you with a body, i'll bury it for you" (heart swoon- i honestly knew from the very second those words flew out of his mouth he was already done for.) he quiet literally is laying his heart and his loyalty down at her feet... her blindness is infuriating throughout the whole book, until the very end "we were so stupid." (yes eve, yes you were.) Eve constantly thinks that Killian is only there because her "brother/uncle" told him to follow her and babysit, when so clearly that is not the case ... and Eve's final recognition of "you are the reason they call me the widow-witch" like, chefs kiss.
Killian has been pining for her for his whole "free" life and i am obsessed with him. he's been dropping hints, and scenting his desire towards her for years. like when i picture Killian in my head, he has that diabolical, unhinged smile that quirks up and reaches his eyes like "oh you think that was crazy, just wait there's more".
there are so many pieces of the story that i want to talk about, but im afraid it would spoil to much of it!
however i think this is the first time i read "knotting" with a demon. so that was interesting.. not mad about it at all though. i loved his playfulness during the "after glow stage" like when she wakes up. he was so happy, and she had to go and screw it up again thinking that she forced him into something he didnt want. FTLOG Eve stahp! he likes you, he REALLY likes you.
also: the coven they go to, super weird. i got "cult" vibes from the beginning. sunshine boy just seemed off, and not concerned about the hunters at all, and that felt weird.. (in hindsight makes perfect sense). and the elder... yuck, like instant dislike. super pushy, culty, i'll only help you if you join us. like what. no thanks.
and some really big action spoilers that i wont mention insert here(my kindle was like 50 min left of the book - my anxiety was overflowing with you better wrap this up in nice little HEA for me or im gonna be upset!!!)..... but the way that scene ends, and her and killian leave together.. nice save. i like that.
CONS: *the hellcat, few things i didn't like... i get it - she's a cat, and the snooty-patooty behavior that all cats have, nailed that perfectly..... but having to reiterate that the cats fluffball tail had a hidden stinger in it. honestly felt like forced foreshadowing, one or two hints, sure no problem, but it felt like it was mentioned 3-5 times (i didn't honestly count) in a matter of a couple pages felt really forced. *some of the writing, or Eve's inner monologue, sometimes was hard to interpret. is she saying this out loud, or was this in her head.. maybe it was just me, but i had to re-read some sections to understand the "flow" of the conversation and internally in my head as i was reading was "ok this makes more sense if she said "this section" in her head.
Disclaimer: My goal is not to give spoilers, but hopefully I maintained that. Also I would say that yes you can read this book without reading the other two, but I would definitely read number one. The author is so good that I would actually just go back and read all of it again and again.
This was an addicting ride of self-discovery, life lessons, very bloody battles and sinful attraction/relationships. This paranormal demon romance had just the right amount of sinful attraction that balanced out perfectly with all the gory battles. From all the bad stops in their journey there was something good to balance it afterwards. Be it a light-hearted moment or a very sinful moment that balance was met perfectly.
The two main characters being Eve and Killigan have the right amount of wit and snarkiness towards each other that make their relationship feel real and like you're actually a part of their journey. From the relationship being straight in their face to being with each other in the end with both alive and happy was the perfect chef kiss.
Sakura Black definitely knows how to write and make an addictive series that makes you want more. Bloody moments are perfectly balanced throughout the book. That's not an easy thing to do by any means.
This was a fast-paced read full of bloody battles, sinfully encounters and hilarious furball moments.
Eve's path to self-discovery was a real struggle through various stages of emotions. And Killian, her winged incubus protector, was her anchor during this stormy time. "Demonic sin dripped off him..." - And boy did he deliver. Wavy dark curls, dark-purple skin inked with tattoos, magnificent wings, horns, and a—very—wicked tail... lol - No wonder poor Eve went through a rollercoaster of emotions.
"Late night gardening" with a hellcat has never been more funny. That was a truly beautiful monster love story.
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.
4.5 Stars Eve was a female who found a family of her own choosing but still carried the Wrin of rejection from her blood relatives. This doubt of worthiness caused her to miss the love and wanting that was right in front of her for years. Killian was a violent soul despite being part incubus. He used that violence to protect those who were important to him. This story has angst, heat, and lots of detailed violence. There are hints about Killian's origins, but I feel like it is never really explained other than the incubus part. Why does he have white wings that change color? Who enslaved him? I loved Cookie and Eve's interaction with Alpha and Cookie. I liked how the prologue started when she was imprisoned by the hunters and the way it ties to the ending of the first book. I wonder if the author will give the demon, Aurora, a story.
Eve and Killian are fantastic characters, and their evolving relationship is fun and sexy, despite the frequent miscommunications between them. The dual POVs are a highlight, offering a glimpse into years of mutual pining constrained by family dynamics—until a shared quest to heal Eve’s powers forces them together.
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks to the author and Bookfunnel.
"My heart is yours. It was even before you forged me a new one."~Killian
Well, this certainly was a crazy and action filled story. It blends fantasy, paranormal, and a highly charged attraction between witchy Eve and her incubus, gargoyle like, protector, Killian. At first it was hard for me to get into the book. Tbh, I was a bit lost in this world. This is my first read by this author, and also her writing style is different, not in a bad way, it deals with a world that is darker, mysterious, horror gore-ish in its execution. She made it funny at times but there was also an elegance to it too. **There are trigger warnings, be sure to read those for your own peace of mind.** This is the 3rd book in the series, so I'm not sure if I missed anything prior. I most likely did. There's supernatural elements, magical worlds among worlds with portals as young Eve was trying to find herself, her origins, and where she could possibly belong. She wants to learn about her powers too.🫸🏻💥💥💥💥🫷🏻She's a demon, a succubus, a witch, mage, there's a lot going on with her.😄😄 She needs answers. And her heart belongs to a fierce creature who has no idea how she feels. They're world was the Hybrid Kingdom in h*ll. Killian's an enforcer. Think inhuman mobster but with wings, claws, and a tail.🧌🦋 And Eve has enemies. She's wanted. By those who look for her destruction. Her plan was to run and leap to earth. Alone. Killian won't let that happen. See that guy, he likes Eve. Sure they're friends, but Killian wants more without telling her he wants more.😝😝 Typical guy. He will follow b/c he wants to. But Eve, she doesn't know that. Drama. And did I mention Cookie and Alpha. Ohh those two. Who are they, you're wondering. Cookie is a ferocious h*llcat. Eve's familiar. Sassy kitty!! Rawrrrrr!!!😾🙀😼 And Alpha he's a h*ll hound.🐶🐾🐾🍖 They will attack and rip to shreads every enemy and hordes of monsters. They're cuteeee!! I know. Me calling these two cute might be bonkers but if I'm going into a battle/war, then bring in my PETS!!!😏🤣🤣🤣🗡️🗡️
I kept reading the story and I'm glad I did. I no longer felt lost. So much happened. And let me add, Killian and Eve got downnn and friskyyy babeee.🔥🔥🔥 I am like: whatttt is happening here. Noo you didn't. Shut. Up. With her birthday cake. And him smelling like melted carmel.😲😲 They soooo belong together.hehe That's all I will share about that.☠️🫦😙😙🤐
They get to earth and everything implodes. Some twists. Action. Explosions. Backstabbing. More karate chops. Claws. Blades. Liquidity fatalities.🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸⚰️ Is there a HEA? Uh. Yeah. Maybe... it's a for now... now, I think.🤭 I don't want to spoil anything. What an imagination Ms Black has!! There's plenty of world beauty building here. I would have liked a dual point of view in the storytelling just to get into Killian's mind, but it's fine. No biggie. You like it dark, come on in, I'll leave a light on for you.🪔 Cool book cover. Happy reading!!!🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
🌠🪐✨Thank you to Ms Black and Bookfunnel for an early ARC. The opinions shared here are my own✨🪐🌠
Capturing Sin (the second book in this series of interconnected stand alones) was my first introduction into Sakura’s book and also the genre of books. I very quickly became obsessed.
To be totally honest the first 15% of Hellish Witch was just not my cup of tea but because I loved the other book so much I wanted to push through. I’m so glad I did because it got scrumptious! I later realized the key moments from earlier in the book that were crucial from the beginning part of the story helped form the suspenseful portion of the storyline.
This story between a hybrid witch/ demon who is the kingdom’s healer and her brother’s best friend who is a demon Enforcer was spicy, tension filled, and had great banter. The slow burn really added to the build up of their connection but Sakura still managed to add in some great demon spice to hold us over even with the slow burn.
Killian was yummy! Plain and simple. He’s this bad boy Enforcer with a playboy persona but he is obsessed with Eve. His protectiveness was drool worthy but his sexiness was unmatched!
The hellcat, Cookies, had me cracking up because it was literally just a human cat on steroids and extra sass to its attitude. 😂 I fell for the little stinker though!
Once the storyline really picked up I was devouring it. The whole premise of it was that Eve notices that her healing abilities are beginning to change after some traumatic events that occurred when she had been captured by demon hunters and now she is on a dangerous mission to find out what is happening to her and how to fix it while trying to avoid harming anyone. Her desires for Killian (obsessed with this name) are growing as well and she is struggling with her feelings and him always treating her like his little sister. Killian on the other hand has deemed himself her demon bodyguard and pleasure provider and I was HERE FOR IT! 😂
This ended up being another win for me and I’m so glad I kept going! It was 100% worth it.
🌟🌟 Update: I spoke with the author and she said the first part of this story continues from the ending of the first book in the series (which I have not had a chance to read yet) so that makes sense why it didn’t jive with me fully. I highly recommend reading all three!
I received an ARC of this book from the author, so it was a good thing that I already had purchased the first two books. I ended up loving the first one and really liking the second one, so I had high hopes for this one as well. While I really did like it, I just didn't love it. And that mostly came down to Eve.
Obviously, Eve's time amongst the hunters has traumatized her. But it's also twisted her power in a way that she cannot control and hates. She is meant to be a healer, she thinks that's all she's good for, so when all she can do now is hurt others, she's desperate to find a way to fix herself. When she's finally forced to speak to Zoe about it, the other witch has a good idea of where she can go for some help. Apparently there is a coven in the human world that actively helps demons, so Eve would not be turned away for being half demon. Not wanting to cause anymore trouble, or hurt anyone else she loves again, Eve plans to visit them herself. She doesn't get far before realizing she has been followed and won't be losing him.
I really liked Killian. He was violent, protective, and just fun to have around in his own seriously messed up way. He's determined to keep Eve safe, even from herself, so he refuses to let her leave him behind on her little trip.
These two have been in love with each other since they practically met as children. It was so painfully obvious on Killian's end that it's mind blowing how Eve never realized it. He was about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the head. So needless to say, the tension between them as they travel is high. And once they make it thru the portal and Eve goes into her first heat? Nothing is going to stop Killian from claiming her. But she STILL doesn't get it. And that's how she really brought down the story for me. I wouldn't say that Eve was stupid, but she makes so many stupid decisions throughout the whole book and is constantly oblivious to so many things or she just ignores them. It got really aggravating.
The ending was definitely predictable, but I wouldn't say it was bad. And thanks to Eve's furry new familiar, she might not have lost something like she thought she had.
Speaking of her familiar. I did love how hers ends up being a giant, vicious kitty cat. But again, it takes her almost the whole damn book to realize it was her familiar. It was fun when Alpha was around Cookie because these two really were like frenemies. But that also had me wonder why Alpha was even there for so long when it was specifically pointed out that he never leaves Zoe's side.
All in all, while not my favorite so far, I would still jump at the chance to read more books in this series. I am loving these males and the, uh, fun parts to them.
I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review This review contains a few spoilers. TLDR: Stick with it (after the prologue), and it is an enjoyable read with an interesting FMC and some spice. Pros: I thought the FMC was well-developed and different to the 2 previous protagonists in the series. I like that she had this conflict in herself and that it wasn't fully resolved by the end of the book. She also wasn't helpless and constantly needing saving by the MMC I liked the length of the book too, nothing dragged and I did find myself thinking 'one more chapter' often. I really liked how the relationship developed. Although it was an 'instant connection', the love between them progressed throughout the book. It was a kind of reluctant acquaintance to lovers. Cons: This is definitely the weakest of the trilogy, but it is still a great read, and I may reread it in the future. The MMC lacked personality. Although he did have a job, everything revolved around her. He was the usual, tall, dark, smug and strong character. The prologue was seriously confusing and wasn't properly addressed (unless I missed it). I didn't know it was her POV right away or how and why she was in that situation. I almost stopped reading because I was so confused, but I am glad I stuck with it.
“Hellish Witch” is the third installment of Sakura Black's Playing with Demons series and again she doesn't disappoint. While you do not have the read the first two books in the series as this is a stand alone book, I highly recommend doing so as knowing the other characters and world building that occurs in the two previous books enhances this story. I greatly anticipated this story as I love Ms. Black's style and her previous stories. Please read her trigger warnings prior to reading this book or any previous ones, you've been warned. If you like your paranormal romance with spice, plot, heat, and a female lead you are rooting for then this is a story for you. Eve struggles due to her dual nature, is searching for some balance, and a place to belong. Ms. Black masters writing female characters struggling to find their place and carving it out if need be. I laughed, I cried, and I killed some demons right along with Eve. Her hellcat is a partner we would all love to have at our back. Her demon is a love we wish was by our side and watching from the shadows. This is one of those touch her and die stories, literally. Totally enjoyed the ride and the escape. Can't wait for the next one.
Sakura Black has done it again, and may I say, even better than last time?!? This book was awesome. I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down until I finished it. And I have to say, I think this is by far my favorite of the 3 books. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to read it again right away!
Killian and Eve had the perfect amount of will they or won’t they and when they finally got together, it was magical. All the little touches Killian did for her to show his love were so swoon worthy.
I loved Cookie for Eve. There were several moments where I laughed out loud throughout the book (rarely happens to me) and Cookie was responsible for a few of them. She was the perfect familiar.
I only have 2 issues with the book and they weren’t big enough to detract from the enjoyment: Killian calling Eve ‘kid’ got real old, real fast. And the final climax with Eve’s father. It just felt rushed and honestly, not needed. You could see it coming from a mile away and it didn’t really add anything to the story. So minus those two things, I was quite content with this book. And I will definitely be doing a re-read soon!
I received this book as an arc and all opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved Hellish Witch and would gladly read it again! This book was captivating and intriguing from start to finish.
The blurb had me hooked immediately, and the story did not disappoint. Eves journey is grappling with her broken magic and the chaos in her mind, was both compelling and relatable. The depth of her struggles, including the scars and panic attacks she battles, adds a vulnerability that makes her growth all the more impactful.
Killian, the tantalizing incubus with his dark reputation, enters the scene like a breath of fresh yet forbidden air. Their chemistry is palpable, and every stolen moment is charged with tension and desire.
I was completely struck with aw/confusion when that spell happened I mean jaw dropped. 😂
The mix of magic, romance, and suspense kept me turning pages long into the night. The fast-burn romance is steamy and full of surprises, with enough twists to keep readers on their toes.
If you enjoy paranormal romances filled with dark intrigue and possessive demons, Hellish Witch is a must-read! I can't wait to see where the Playing with Demons series takes us next.
I received this book as an arc, and this is my honest review. This is the third book in the Playing with Demons series. I love that they are all standalone books but also interconnected.
Hellish Witch is my new favorite of the series so far. I loved both Eve and Killian and their whole story from the beginning to the end. Their banter was excellent, but also the whole “Is he just wanting to help me because he is best friends with my brother or because he loves me?” I loved that kind of storyline. The main story is that Eve is struggling with her powers due to her being both half-demon, half-mage, and trying to figure out a way to balance her powers or better control them. The other great character was Cookie the hellcat who cracked me up and reminded me of my cat Kiki who is just as sassy. I always love it when books have animal companions.
I will say in the beginning it was a slow read for me, but once the story picked up, I wanted to keep reading till I finished it. Thank you so much for this arc,I loved it and will want to read it again!
Eve, a half witch, half succubus finds her magic is broken and having devastating effects. Desperate for answers she decides to return to the human realm, and “lucky” for her, her brothers best friend Killian, decides he won’t let Eve out of his sight
Killian and Eve are absolutely meant to be. Their protection of each other is unyielding although it manifests in differently. While Eve offers protection from afar, Killian is more touch her and die. Also, perhaps Eve should set up a gift registry because Killian’s gift giving could use the help.
Through their journey? They were able to deepen their feelings, strengthen their bond, and offered Eve self acceptance.
It was an absolute treat getting to see the familiar faces from Take Me To Hell. Hellish Witch is action-packed with a gripping storyline that kept me on the edge of my seat, I also have to mention the deliciously steamy scenes that involved and tail and a forked tongue. Whew
I wanted this as soon as I read Take Me to Hell, but then Liliana stole my heart in Capturing Sin and I started counting down to the next release! ✨
It was definitely worth the wait!
Eve’s crimson curls & not-so-angelic demon were so fun to follow. I really loved getting to learn more about Hell & a different dynamic to the previous two just-met love interrsts from the series.
Sakura has such an amazing way of writing FMC’s with previous trauma that feels so heart-breaking and admirable 👏🏻 I adore how they are all so strong, caring and vulnerable. They feel fully developed and relatable. The MMC’s are just *chef’s kiss*. And the sass! I need a hell-familiar pleaseeee ♥️
I really hope we get another book in this series because the book hangover is real! I’m dying to know Aurora 🩷
There’s no need to give a spice rating when it comes to Sakura’s work, she delivers everytimeeee. 🔥
Oh Eve and Killian. How I love this pairing. Eve, a half succubus/half witch. Killian, a morally grey Incubus.
Eve is having serious issues with her healing powers and doesn't know what to do. She goes to her queen (who also is a witch) to maybe find a solution. The queen, Zoella, suggests visiting a healer coven to get help with her problem. Enter Killian, the great protector, whether Eve wants it or not.
I read Hellish Witch in one sitting. It was light-hearted, sexy, harrowing and heartwarming.
Hellish Witch is the third book in a series. Although, all three books can be read as a stand alone, I think you should at least read book one, Take Me to Hell, before reading this book.
Please note this is an 18+ book. There is explicit on page sex, blood play, graphic attempted SA, graphic violence, gore, on page death, drug use, and off page abuse.
Hellish Witch was a very good read IMO. I enjoy when there is good banter as well as tension between the main characters. Then in comes Cookie the Hellcat. She was a fun surprise, although with Eve being a witch and from Hell you'd think she would be aware of familiars and their bonds. Some of the story was predictable in the sense that if you are being rushed into making a decision or separating from the group maybe you shouldn't ignore that red flag, something bad is bound to happen. The few predictable scenes aren't enough of drawback to downgrade my rating, just something to be aware of when you are reading that they are there. I would say, if you haven't read the other books in the series, you should read the first book "Take me to Hell" first, although this is definitely a book that you could just pick up and read and be happy with. However, if you do that I can guarantee that you will be going back and reading books 1 & 2. It's that good!
“You may not see your value, sweetness, but I’ve not been able to stop seeing it since you first tried to pō!son me with those damn flowers on that d@mn cake, and I’d eat every toxic crumb, just to be near you for a second longer.”
Highly recommend this series! I really enjoyed this book. The things Killian says! He's very broody and protective. Eve thinks it's only because of his loyalty to her brother but she later finds out his feelings for her are far deeper. She fights her feelings for him because she believes that he only helps her out of his loyalty to her brother. Her magic is on the fritter and very dangerous. She doesn't trust herself to be around people she truly cares about. So she sets out to find answer but wasn't expecting to have tag alongs. When she gets the chance to finish her journey on her own she takes it. Fortunately for her Killian is obsessed with her and doesn't let her get far.
Finally FINALLy I have read the final conclusion of Playing With Demons by Sakura Black.
The third book follows Eve after being rescued from the raid on the Hunter's compound by Zoella, Rex, and Killian. Eve is a hybrid like the others of Rex's kingdom. She is a half witch (healer) and half succubus.
When the trauma of her torture starts effecting her magic as well as her sanity Eve must travel to the human realm to find a coven to aid her. With the assist of Hybrid and Enforcer Killian the incubus, Eve must fight her desires as well as the killing instinct.
This is a slow burn with a sprinkle of spicy inbetween the witty banter but every scene and interaction between Kill and Eve there is no question that there is magic and something more between them.
Pick up a copy of Hellish Witch it is a stand alone HOWEVER I urge you to start from the first Playing With Demon story of the series. IT intertwines with one another nad is worth the journey.
3/5 🌶 5/5 ⭐️ Monster Romance Touch her and 🔪 Demons and witches Bit of a slow burn 🔥 Possessive obsessive Alpha MMC First person pov HEA
When i tell you that tgese books better turn into a whole aś§ series or I'll be devastated 💔 I have absolutely loved reading this series that you can read as a standalone but if you read one why not just read them all...
Eve and Killian where do I start the beginning had me hooked. i loved meeting some of the old characters and seeing how they fit in the story now. Eve is little miss independent, but Killian won't let her go too far hes around for the long haul, and boy, do they go for an adventure.
If you love Monster Romance, then look no further Sakura has you covered.
I loved having the opportunity to read this book plus all the others and look forward to reading more by Sakura Black
Kill and Eve are the main characters in this third novel in this series. If you want an insane psycho who is willing to show questionable judgement to keep you safe, then add Killian to your book boyfriend list!
This book is in Eve’s POV. Killian is an incubus who is the strongest enforcer of most hated kingdom in hell and yet he’s never far from Eve. Eve is Half succubus half mage with an affinity for healing. However, after being rescued from the hunters and brought home she feels a darkness inside of that causes old wounds to open instead of heal. She can’t keep hurting others when she’s meant to heal so she travels to the human realm in hopes of answers. Just so happens Killian is a stubborn incubus and won’t let her go alone.
This book is the third in the Playing with Demons series and I highly recommend reading the other 2 books in the series to fully enjoy and understand this story. This story continues closely after book 2 and finds Eve in a predicament.
Eve really overthinks a lot, in my opinion. She discounts Killian a bit because of her perception of his actions, thinking he was told to help rather than he will do anything at all that she needs in any capacity. Yeah, he has it bad for her.
The story itself is compelling and kept my interest. Again, though, make sure to read the other stories. I had to go back and familiarize myself with them as I was a bit lost at first.
I really enjoyed this book. Couldn't put it down. Sakura Black has once again managed to write a book that holds you, that amazes you and where you completely sympathize with the main characters. Killian, half incubus, and despite his angelic wings, so full of sin. A psycho. A truly beautiful description of a main character, truly one to dream away from. But also as complicated as it can be. And all he can think about is Eve. Who had been captured, tortured for what she was. And her powers that no longer seemed complete and seemed to have a life of their own. And then their chosen family. Yes, this book is really worth reading. Really doesn't disappoint.
Eve: "My healing magic is now a weapon. And Killian—my brother's best friend and an incubus with a reputation darker than sin—might just be my only hope." "Some demons are meant to devour you. Some are meant to claim your soul."
Two sentences that stood out to me in Sakura's book description. As soon as I started reading the book, I was OBSESSED. Eve and Killian's chemistry was explosive. In between the journey of figuring out her magic issues and the misunderstanding of how he actually feels about her, they do end up with their HEA. I absolutely loved this book!

He’s a 10 but in a frenzy brutally fucks her on to his demon knots while flying dozens of feet off the ground
If you’re a monster fucker and not reading Sakura’s Playing with Demons series what are you even doing!! The love I have for this series never fails. Another absolute banger (into the metal balcony railing until it bends) if this series doesn’t become 33 books long I’ll be disappointed 🤣
P.S my brother never had slightly psychotic, definitely unhinged winged friends and I feel robbed
I do recommend reading the first book if you haven't already, just so you have a better understanding of what Eve is going through.
I loved Killian's possessiveness. He embodies "You touch her, you get unalived" and I couldn't stop kicking my feet and giggling.
Eve was a wonderful change for a FMC. She was anxious, worried and full of doubt which I haven't seen much of in stories recently since alot feel like the main chick has to be this amazing bada** right away. Might also just be the books I've been picking up but it was definitely nice to see someone struggling with not being good enough and finding her place with Killian.
Cookie, the hellcat, is the best sassy as hell beast. Just guard your cookies or she'll eat them all.
Thank you for the arc, I voluntarily give it an honest review. Aww heck no, that slimy Fenton had some nerves in him. Which we all know the end to that, as long as the reader has been following along. Eve has a dark lust..desire..something brewing deep inside that is lashing out and in some unseen waves. Hands up if you think Killian will be the one to help tame the this fire that is born in his hellish witch. I love the thought behind the community of hybrids, the unwanted, but some of them need a lesson.
Super Spicy 🌶️ with the best amount of bloody violence.
Love the tie back to Take Me To Hell, especially since those moments that Zoella could sense something between Killian & Eve I hoped a book would come out about them. I love a good brother’s best friend trope. I liked that Rex probably knew about Killian’s feelings for his sister. This story delves deeper into the found family aspect for me.
Sakura did a great job of delving further into the trauma of being a hybrid & it was nice seeing Eve’s journey with truly find herself & love. Plus I always love some good tail play 😉
