I Spilt My Tamiya Extra Thin: Ramblings Of a Scale Modeller

Rate this book
Does it matter if a Scale Model is a New Tooling when you shop for a model kit to build? Do you need to spend a fortune to start Scale Modelling?

Is Airfix really that bad? Written from his thoughts whilst building another Bearcat, Mos has a unique look on life. He cements his thoughts on life through his passion for scale modelling. With a whiff of polystyrene cement and Lacquer Paints, he shares his observations from his many years on the earth.

Mos tiptoes through the pages leaving you with a smile and maybe a nod of appreciation as you relate to the marvellous hobby of building Scale Models and life in general.

A fair read; it's clear the book is formed from the blog posts of the author, so each chapter is a couple of pages long and a piece in isolation. The author starts a chapter / blog post about an event or memory of his life, then links that (sometimes tenuously) to modelling topic. The text does seem to be taken straight from the blog posts without any editing however, as there are frequent spelling and grammar mistakes in the print which is a shame, but as a palette cleanser read it did the job for a few nights before moving onto the next book. A book to read then put into the box for the charity shop sadly.

First off Mos has an incredible way of finding a way of linking a story or an opinion into the world of scale modelling. I laughed out loud so many times as he takes you on a journey from a thought or a tale and bring you back to the modelling bench. A really fun read and you will learn how he thinks with some serious points made, he is a very funny modeller
