From the best-selling author of Get In My Swamp comes a Red Riding Hood retelling filled with lust and mystery.

If little red riding hood was made for adults with funny references throughout. I loved this one. It’s full of suspense, mystery, werewolves and werewolf hunters wrapped in a hot love story. This is definitely a plot story with spice not the other way around and you’ll be drooling like a dog after a bone for more. Cameron was giving me Edward Cullen energy with his faces there for a sec and had me howling. Love it!
MAIN CHARACTERS: Mildred "Red" Hoodson, Jack Lumberton, Cameron Badson
My gut reaction when I read the characters' last names was, WTH, and I probably should have listened to that reaction and not read the rest of the book (Cameron's sister is named Carmen - that feels lazy, pick another name with different letters). Red is the worst journalist character I've ever read and that broke a lot of my suspension of disbelief - in a story about werewolves. The first half, when Red gets home and talks to Jack was hard to read because she was stuck in their high school past and it's coloring how she views the town. There is also a lot of back and forth where she just listens to whatever someone tells her - thus the bad journalist comment. I had to go back and look at the description for this book cause there are tropes/themes I don't do - like Love Triangles. Towards the end, there were more mistakes popping up that became harder to overlook - like a character not wearing jeans but then someone opening their jeans - stuff that should have been caught in editing or a beta read.
It was a struggle to finish and it's sad cause there was a really interesting plot in there about the Blood Moon and the Wolves and the Hunters but everything involving Red was difficult to read.
CW: death, death of parents, violence, blood, sexual content, threatened sexual assault DISCLAIMER: I received an advance review copy. This is my honest review.
POSSIBLE SPOILER: The first sex scene is horrible because it is beyond mediocre, there is no indication that Red finishes but she acts like it's amazing. I really hope that was done on purpose for that MMC's character but given the rest of the writing, I don't know what to think.

I know y’all are lying about this book!!! What are these high reviews!! Omg was this so poorly written. 😭 Like I’m serious it feels like it was written by a 12 year old who just wanted to write a spicy fairytale romance.
Please let me start with the names. Jack LUMBERTON!!!?? Who is a LUMBERJACK?! Carmen and Cameron BADSON.
Mildred who happens to go by Red with the last name Hoodson. 😑
The spice was not great. But it wasn’t the worst I’ve read and really was the only redeemable part about this for me. This is riddled with self hatred/fat phobic content. Red constantly discussing how fat she was in high school so she can only eat salads now? Wtf. It had zero relevance to the plot other than to piss me off. 😂
The plot itself was equally as bad. It really didn’t flow or make much sense. I wanted to love this so much. The premise seemed right up my alley. But poorly executed.
Just wasn’t it for me. If it was it for you then slay queen.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I love the concept of recreating fairytale books into adult romance books. It’s a little bit of nostalgia, mixed with newness.
As for the spice in the book, I found it was lacking. Especially seeing how this book has been marketed, I was expecting significantly more spicy scenes. The spicy scenes that were included didn’t go into super detail, and I feel could have been written better (less rushed). Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️/5. Cameron was hot though🔥.
I also noticed that there was quite a number of spelling/grammar/punctuation errors in the ARC Kindle copy. I think the book should go through another few rounds of editing/revising before the book is fully published, as this could affect the enjoyment of the book for many people.
Overall, it wasn’t a bad read— it just didn’t meet the expectations I had for it.
I should start off by saying that I love a good werewolf book and have read them since I was 12 with books on Wattpad 🤣 I’m a week off 26 and I still love them.
The crimson wolf was no different, I really enjoyed this book, it didn’t take me long to get hooked into the plot and storyline and had me rooting for the characters! This book does well in the beginning to make you question where you’re going to place your allegiances, dangling multiple objects of desire in front of you keeping you on your lustful toes.
The Spice in this book kicked it up a notch from your typical wolf book which had me absolutely dripping with desire. The Primal animalistic touches were just a Chefs Kiss so to speak.
Don’t even get me started on that one scene… you’ll have to take my word for it.
The only thing missing from this book for me is what would come after that last chapter, for most people the book ended perfectly, I however enjoy the tropes and story lines of what would come next for these two.
I was honored enough to receive this book as an advanced review copy for free and an more then happy to leave this review
Whenever I start a book by G. M. Fairy, I know I’m in for a good time. The Crimson Wolf is a loose Little Red Riding Hood retelling, and it’s a quick but fun read!
Red is a reporter who travels home to investigate some mysterious deaths in her hometown, but what she finds is wilder than she could’ve expected.
This book had so many funny moments! I was laughing out loud multiple times. There’s mystery, suspense, angst, and you can’t go wrong with werewolf spice!

What to expect:
- enemies to lovers
- love triangle
- A+ banter
- Spice 3/5 🌶️
- werewolves
- little red riding hood retelling
- small town
What I enjoyed:
Can we have a moment for the sheer amazingness that is Cameron. Seriously this man single handedly carried this book, don’t get me wrong there were other great characters too, but wow, Cameron 🤩. Ugh yet another fictional guy I’m in love with. He obviously cares so much about our main character, Red, even in the beginning when they hated each other. The small things he says and does, make him feel real and give him depth. I mean he’s a volunteer soccer coach for children, swoon😫!
I also found myself laughing out loud at the banter between Red and Cameron. Their back and forth is hilarious, especially the conversations about a werewolves appetite! 😆
But this wouldn’t be a good review if I left out our girl, Carmen. I actually hate that she wasn’t included in more of the story! I love her attitude, she truly makes the story so much better! I can’t wait for her book!
Things I didn’t like:
Jack. Is there really an explanation needed?
I didn’t like was the beginning of the story to me it felt slow and was hard to get into. Once you meet Cameron everything starts to pick up but until then it does feel a bit slow.
We have our FMC, Red, who is a journalist investigating a series of mysterious attacks in her hometown. She finds herself entwined in a web of half truths were nobody wants to tell her what’s really happening. In the process she meets Cameron, a mysterious but very good looking guy who may be the key to uncovering the town’s secrets.
Mystery, a+ banter, spice, small town - a little bit of what you can expect from this book.
Loved that our female character didn’t sit around and wait for everybody else to save the day. She is very strong willed and I could totally relate with her curious mind (even if it meant walking willingly towards danger).
I didn’t give this a 5⭐️ because the ending felt a little rushed and the spicy scene involving some blood just wasn't for me. Also, the insta love felt too insta for me.
My first book from this author and it did not disappoint.

Oof Red is something. I never thought I’d read a spicy Ted riding hood but I’m glad I found this. The story is totally different because Red isn’t some little girl anymore and her love life is kicking. All in all good fun read.
LORD! This was such a fun story!!! I loved the characters and how they grow from being to end. Red is a badass FMC who was relatable and funny. The action and adventure was super suspenseful and had me thinking about it when I wasn’t reading it. G.M. Fairy has been so incredible to watch grow as an author I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

G.M. Fairy has done it again with another cheeky, spicy read. Keep in mind TWs and CWs to make sure this book is for you.
The Crimson Wolf is a mildly dark paranormal read filled with mystery, lust, shifting, and witty banter. There is a substantial storyline that unwinds beautifully. I did not want to put it down. While there are some predictable moments, there are others that took me by surprise.
Overall this is a book that I would recommend. There is PLENTY of spice and mystery sprinkled with a solid level of darkness and sass. This was a wonderful fairytale retelling.
This book was a quick, enjoyable read just like GM Fairy’s other books. I am usually not a fan of instant love, but for somehow GM Fairy does it just right and I love it. This books definitely had spice and had a bit of a love triangle that worked very well with the story.
I also loved that this book had an over arching mystery that helped propel the story forward as Red found out more and more about the town, her family, and herself. As always I am very very excited to see what GM Fairy does next!
Great intro to monster romance and a fun take on a red riding hood retelling. Not as steamy as I was expecting but the steam did not disappoint! This book has it all
Murder mystery ✔️ Enemies to lovers ✔️ Chosen Family ✔️ Knotting 🪢✔️
Thank you to Book Sirens and GM Fairy for the ARC, be sure to get this book, available 10/31
I don't know how I feel about "Granny's" chicken and dumplings being "better than sex," but it's not positive. Using the dumplings to segue into the FMC's stagnant sex life doesn't help. The author seems to have a moment of self-awareness in asking "why am I thinking about sex at my old grandma's house?" but the awareness wasn't strong enough to remove it entirely. The next paragraph talks about her parents' death, so really just the worst placement for sex life exposition. The story gets interesting in chapter 3, only to find out a page later . Chapter 5 we're back to talking about having sex dreams in her childhood home, and how she's turned on despite grandma being down the hall... and that's where I noped out.
In addition to untimely thoughts of sex, our heroine "squeals," brings up her weight and diet in ways that are irrelevant to the story and mildly fatphobic, and is "not like the other girls" (quote mine, not the author's). She diets and loses weight but has curves, knows how to seduce men but would never. If you're hoping for a modern girl's girl, she's not it.
The story also contains some grammatical and punctuation errors and gratuitous swearing not relevant to plot or character presentation.
This is yet another book I found during a stuff your kindle day and once again I enjoyed it so much more than I would’ve ever expected. I love retellings especially how this one added enemies to lovers and mystery elements in this somewhat creepy isolated small town in the woods. I loved the strong fmc, the tension between her and the mmc and the spicy scenes. The main reason why this drops a star for me is that I felt like the ending was somewhat rushed. I loved this couple and I would’ve liked for it to be a little longer to expand on the ending and possible see more of the aftermath for them. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

This Little Red Riding Hood retelling is a solid four-star read. These werewolves take on a more magical nature than most shifter romances I’ve read. They have powers that range from controlling the weather to controlling/reading the mind. Werewolves have extremely strong mental abilities that female werewolves can determine when they become pregnant—I thought this was such a fascinating and awesome ability. The names of our characters are so on the nose—last names only—that it’s so hilarious it borders on off-putting if you focus too long on it, so just don’t and you find this will be an extremely enjoyable read.
This is a first-person story that follows our female lead, Mildred Christine Hoodson, better known as Red. Red is a New York journalist returning to her hometown, Dayton, Washington, to find the truth behind a series of suspicious attacks. As Red delves deeper into the story, she discovers she's more entwined with the case than a hometown happenstance.
I really enjoyed how dreams, the weather, and scent were used as foreshadows. I also enjoyed how you get to know everyone but the male main character's full name as soon as you meet them—although if you caught onto a conveniently introduced side character you’d put two and two together early on. Side characters were clearly written as side characters, but Carmen, whose book I’m excited to read, made me laugh and didn’t seem as thrown in for the sake of world-building. Ex-childhood friend/crush Jack was an interesting character. I liked the beginning scenes that incorporated him, however, further into the story his demeanor changed so drastically that it was like a poorly introduced new character. It was foreshadowed with the repeated mention of how strained the relationship between Red and Jack was before she left for New York, that they could never be an established couple, but I was a bit disappointed in the cliche “evil” love interest and got whiplash from the “I love you, my feelings are true” to “I never loved you like you loved me” to “I fell in love with the new you.” Jack went from a well-developed character to obvious cannon fodder.
Personal preference, I don't like cocky men so the male main character’s behavior of dark, mysterious, easily-irritable male was not up my alley, however, surprisingly—and much to my delight because I loathe not liking a character who is supposed to be the main love interest—he grew on me. Cameron is all wolf, and I enjoyed the scenes in which he wasn’t giving off airs.
Red was a well-written character. She had a backbone and wasn’t a damsel in distress. I'm usually frustrated with how female characters, such as Red, act when only knowing one side of the story, but surprisingly I was 100% on board with Red's actions and thoughts. She repeatedly asked for information—answers—and no one would give it to her straight, so what else was she to do except to come to her conclusions based on what she's experienced and what she's been told? Anyone she went to for answers already had their assumptions about her, which was frustrating for her and frustrating for me as the reader. I loved how she came to her conclusions after getting all the facts after extreme difficulty.
Red and Cameron’s banter is actually funny when they aren’t at each other's throats or trying to hurt/annoy one another. The acknowledgment of their relationship—being mates and not knowing one another fully—was refreshing. Their relationship moves fast once Red accepts her wolfy parts and both Cameron and Red acknowledge that transition.
The ONLY issue I have with this story was how Hunters are able to brainwash people. It was thrown in as an explanation for Granny (Red’s Grandmother) and her memory loss, but it was never explained. Is it done via magical ability or drugs/machines? Anyway, it’s not something necessary to understand but I would have liked more explanation on the matter.
This is a great Red Riding Hood retelling. I definitely recommend reading this story if you're in the mood for some quick fantasy romance. I ADORE a good title drop, and this one was icing on the cake. I received an ARC from BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
A few of my favorite quotes: “Between thinking I’m going to be eaten alive to being completely disappointed in men—I can’t take it anymore.”
I’m so bored I’m about to smother myself with one of Cameron’s pillows. A knock sounds on the door. “I hope you’re here to kill me now.” Cameron cracks the door open, but I don’t lift my head from lying flat on his mattress. “I was here to see if you wanted to take a walk, but I am feeling rather peckish, so maybe roasting you over a fire is a better idea.”

The Crimson Wolf is a fresh retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, where our FMC, Mildred (Red), is a New York journalist who returns to her hometown to investigate a string of grisly murders. As she delves deeper into the case, she begins unraveling long-buried secrets about her past and her family’s mysterious lineage.
I found this book to be a fun, easy read with an intriguing plot. It’s entertaining and engaging, but there were some minor inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story. For instance, there’s a scene where Red claims she can’t tell the time because there’s no clock in the room, only for a clock to magically appear on the bedside table the next day. Another moment that didn't quite add up was Red’s supposed lack of knowledge about werewolves—yet somehow, she’s familiar with the “knot,” one of the most intimate details about them. It left me scratching my head a bit.
The romance between Red and the MMC (no spoilers here!) also felt a little forced. The author aimed for the enemies-to-lovers trope, but it didn’t fully land for me. The banter lacked the playful tension that usually builds anticipation, and instead, it felt like Red was just in it for a physical release. The MMC’s attempts at dirty talk also fell flat, feeling more awkward than seductive.
The book was quite short, and that may have contributed to the rushed feeling. With more scenes to build up the tension between Red and the MMC—even if it extended the length of the book—it could have made a big difference. This might have been a 5-star read with that extra development.
Overall, while The Crimson Wolf has a lot of potential and a captivating premise, the execution left something to be desired. Despite its flaws, it kept me engaged, and I think with some fine-tuning, it could really shine.

As a journalist for the New York Times, we meet Red as she journey’s home to Dayton, Washington, for the first time in 5 years, to scope out a local story of 3 mysterious deaths. On the journey to get her story, she reconnects with her childhood friend and crush Jack, as well as members of the community she hasn’t met before. With the people of her home town hesitant to help and the story getting more and more interesting, Red takes it upon herself to solve the mystery of these deaths and find out what really is happening in Dayton.
G.M Fairy has you immediately hooked in with the story, although we started right in on the story's main plot, she still gives us just enough backstory to build up our main character’s past and keep us intrigued to see what happens. Red is such an interesting, strong, independent character and getting to see her development throughout the book was, for lack of a better, entertaining, she had the odd moment when she frustrated me and I just wanted to shake her, but the journey to discovering herself was well thought out. There is one character that I would like to bitch slap and I’m sure when you all pick up this book, you will too. I loved all the little references to the original fairy tale, it added such a great element without it being too much. I could easily read another book following these characters, as their story was so intriguing. I can’t wait to see where G.M Fairy takes the rest of the characters.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I devoured The Crimson Wolf by G.M. Fairy in one sitting—this book was pure chaos, in the best way possible! A smutty Red Riding Hood retelling with plenty of spice and KNOTTING (yes, you read that right). We love a good werewolf romance, and this one hit all the right marks. With insta-love, mates, and enough heat to set the pages on fire, the story kept me hooked from the start.
The twist completely caught me off guard, leaving me questioning who I could trust. The chemistry between Red and Cameron was electric, and the intensity of their bond made it impossible to stop reading. Red’s journey from a curious journalist to someone caught in the grip of primal desires was thrilling and kept me on edge. The tension between her past with Jack and her present with Cameron added even more layers to the story.
And let’s talk about the spice—this book did not hold back! The scenes were absolutely steamy, the mix of raw passion and werewolf lore made this story truly stand out.
If you're looking for a scorching, wild ride with a good twist, The Crimson Wolf is a must-read. It’s the kind of book that pulls you in and doesn’t let go until the last page!

Thank you so much to the author for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The story follows Red, a reporter for the NYT as she heads back to her old sleepy town to investigate some suspicious murders. When the locals clam up, Granny’s eyes glaze over and her childhood sweetheart rocks up in muscles and flannel, she knows something’s not quite right. With all the secrets and lies lurking, Red must decide if she’s willing to believe the hairier side of the truth.
I loved this take on Little Red Riding Hood with werewolves and small town mystery vibes. I was a little worried about the love triangle (I’ve been burned before!) but I should have known G.M. Fairy wouldn’t steer me into the wrong part of the woods, your girl would make sure I was eaten by the right wolf!
I found Red a little irritating at about the half way point, I think it’s the reporter curse of being too nosey but not believing anything that’s so bloody obvious! However, she right her wrongs and was willing to fight for herself despite being kidnapped multiple times 😂 Highlight of the book however was the ‘get on my back’ scene and all I could hear was “hold on tight spider monkey”…howling 💀💀💀
Overall, I loved these characters and I would like a monster pole in my living room for Cameron too! Rating: 🐺🐺🐺🐺
First, I did jump up and preorder House of Wolves because I completely fell in love with Carmen and needed more of her!
Second, OMG! This fairytale retelling is just amazing and I LOVE the one liners from the original fairytale (I was kicking my feet and giggling when they appeared). The growth with Red throughout the book was the best. Running away after graduation, building herself up in the city, coming back to learn who she is and what she can become…YAS. A strong FMC is always the best. Now Cameron 🫠 can he be real!? From the moment he was brought into the story I immediately fell in love with his character. I also enjoyed seeing his growth with accepting Red, caring for Red, and him being the Mate to Red. And how he was so understanding when Red was accepting her werewolf abilities…..CUTE! And lets us not forget about that knot 👀
Third, the spice 🤌🏽 the amount of times I had to put my kindle down and fan myself! Also, just the simple romantic gestures throughout the book was a wonderful. I love seeing authors focus on the details within the relationships. Yes, the hot & steamy scenes are amazing but even those little kisses, hand squeezes, and intimate talks, need to be seen.
I really enjoyed this book and excited to read about Carmen in the next book.
I received an ARC copy from Book Sirens and this is my honest review
Red’s story was easy to follow. Her childhood friend turning out to be the villain was a good twist, although he could have been more evil. I felt like his short monologue after he captured her left me wanting more. And he could have had more creepy moments leading up to the reveal, like his mask slipping during more of their conversations, at dinner, while driving, etc. Or he could have said something that raised the hairs on her neck while they were intimate. Seeds of doubt or feeling unsafe with him. He could have had more possessive moments even around her granny that might have tipped her off. I’m just saying he didn’t give a lot of psycho stalker vibes until that big reveal. As for her mate, yum! He sounded scrumptious! Their love story was nice. I did find Red’s “I want to jump his bones, now I don’t” moments a bit jarring and sometimes annoying. But overall their make out sessions and sex scenes, those were pretty good. I will say I was not a fan of them having sex while she was on her period though. (As someone who has rough periods, that definitely gave me the ick. Especially since she wasn’t wearing underwear. I have a hard time believing she wasn’t worried about the blood leaking down her legs and getting on her clothes. Even if she was wearing a red ball gown.) I did like their domestic scene at the end though with her mate fixing the sink. That was cute.

Love a good retelling of red riding hood, and this urban fantasy definitely delivered!
Red, currently living in NYC, came back to her old small town investing some questionable murders when she unknowingly stumbled upon some truths she did not expect.
I really liked both Red and Cameron (and let's give an honorable mention to Carmen). I wish there was more girl bonding in this book with Carmen, and the set up was there but it didn't happen. The banter between Red and Cameron was great and creating the 🔥🔥. It was always great reading when they were together.
Honestly the main draw back is the lack of Cameron's POV. I would have loved to read about his struggle from the moment he still met her. I also saw the twist coming almost instantly, so, nothing was a shock at the end. Did it stop me from reading and enjoying the book? No, but I would say it may be easy to see how it is going to end.
Spice: Open door, but short and not super detailed. Would have wanted longer scenes for the build up of the book.
Tropes: 🐺 Love Triangle 🐺 Touch her and 💀 vibes 🐺 Knotting 😜 🐺 Small Town 🐺 Mystery 🐺 Enemies to Lovers 🐺 HFN
***I received an ARC for free, and all my opinions are my own.***
This book, no word of lie, captivated my every thought since I downloaded the ARC. All I could think about was when I was going to be able to read next!
This book is the perfect mix between spice and fluffy, while also leaving me shocked with multiple twists. I especially love the bond between Red and Granny. Sweet family bonds in books really get me in my feels, and usually seals the deal for me having a great reading experience.
As someone who also loves fairy tales, this book really got me good, spicy fairy tales are exactly what my adult self needs. Little Red Riding Hood also happened to be a favourite of mine.

G.M Fairy is one of my favourite authors and should be one of yours too. 😋
I read this book in one sitting because I just could not put it down. Its a werewolf romance with an overarching plot of a century old feud between two parties. Its a bit insta-lovely but acceptable for a standalone. Looking forward to the next instance in this world focussing on a different couple
What I liked:
- writing is really easy in a way that just draws you in. It feels natural as if you really were in her head the whole time. I was very immersed in the story because of this and kept reading
- the premise of the story and the backstory of our lead were interesting and gave extra depth
- I liked the way the villain played out and was revealed
- the sexual tension between LIs and the FMC was really well portrayed
What I didnt like:
- standalones are tough with how fast the romance has to happen. And here it felt too insta-lovey for my taste
- some of the smut talk was a bit too cringey, might be an omegaverse thing tho that Im just not into
- the last chapter bothered me a bit and feeds into the instalove problem
