The civilization of man has fallen. A mindless alien race has swept across the colonies, consuming structures and people along the way. As humanity stands on the brink of destruction, we have one hope to preserve what’s left of our culture and very lives. The Passage.
One of the greatest scientific achievements of humanity, a gateway that will hyper-accelerate our faster than light drives so we can cover an unimaginable distance. A new home waits beyond, one far from our aggressors. But can we escape the desolation of our old empire before it’s too late?

This is what a space opera should be, action strong characters and a page turning story line. So, if you like action and excitement this set is for you
I've read many of John Walker books, but this Series is beyond a good read. Mankind is in a bit of a pickle. Two outer Colonies have gone dark with out a single signal. Ships have been sent to investigate. They are horrified by what they don't find no people no buildings just complete devastation, no sign of any large weapon fire. Something came and destroyed everything and everyone. Humanity is headed for an extinction event. The question has finally been answered were not alone!
This is a great series, it slips seamlessly to different POVs. With major action sometimes happening on up to 3 fronts. It was good to be able to read the complete series at once. I think reading the books individually would have been frustrating waiting for the next one to come out. Well written, lots of edge of seat action and realistic characters except for one. I am not convinced a person showing all the signs of a sociopath could change that much. Make up your own minds about that. Well worth the read!
I really enjoyed this series. Lots of action with great characters. The characters were very interesting and very well developed. There were a few sad losses, but can't have everyone survive in a military science fiction series. I thought that the story was very fresh and exciting. The concept was very different. There were three main plots in the series, each one was brought to a satisfying conclusion with a good epilogue ending. I highly recommend this series and look forward to reading more work from this author.
Well, Alpha Colony shows the good, the bad and the ugliness of our species from a new viewpoint. Characters are strong and show the frailties of the human psych. As you read, you feel like you're standing on the bridge or in the jungle or ruins with David, Ash or others as they interact with several alien species. I've taken a trip down a future memory lane and really want to continue living it! Really worth the time!
A clean Sci-Fi Saga that spans a number of years. There’s never a dull moment, where people aren’t fighting for humanity. This series is action packed, and took me a good long time to read. I had some favorites that fell by the wayside. Don’t get too attached to any of the characters. The characters are well developed, the scene settings are just enough, and the plot pulls it all together. It’s well worth your time and money.
Finished the final book in a couple of days. It is hard to envisage all of this going on in space and over the area it happened. The ran from the bugs met up with other races and defeated the bugs after finding out what to do in the meantime. Face it when you started reading the first book you knew it was going to end up with them winning. Cannot say it was the best series I have read by JW but for the price of the box set it is worth getting
Good story however sure feels like a lot was AI composed. Why do I say that? If you had a proofreader you need to fire them and get someone with English as their primary language. Many sentences didn't make sense. All the words were there, but in the wrong order. A man would be talking to a woman and all the pronouns were the same sex. Wrong words appeared in sentences. Some nonsense words. Quite a bit of filler to make the books longer. Not impressive overall.
I loved the characters and the direction of the story. The different species came together (mostly) making something unique and progressive. In the midst of some being idiots. The complete change of mindset of one of the characters is lovely if a bit unbelievable but heh it’s fiction in space so…….
I very much enjoyed this series of books. The plot line was engrossing and keeps you engaged with these characters. I can only hope that the author can find a better proofreader and editor to prevent the hundreds of typos, extra and missing words, bad syntax and grammar. I recommend this series of you can get past the flaws.
