Coveted by the Barbarian #4

Tamed for Her Pleasure

Rate this book
When the king of a barbarian horde turns out to be unexpectedly hot…

All I wanted to do was stop a war.

A sensible princess would have talked to her father and beseeched him to see sense. Instead, I do what I absolutely should not take my horse and leave the safety of my castle to parley with the enemy myself.

Only the barbarian horde waiting to besiege our home turns out to be larger than I expect… and deeply unhappy when I incapacitate half a dozen of their best men.

They take me to the king in charge… which is where my plans come undone.

Instead of declaring my intentions to help free their brethren from my father’s dungeon, I throw a challenge at their king’s feet.

Why?

Because if there were degrees of alphaness, the seven-foot-tall barbarian with a stern glint in his eyes and an air of deadly grace would be at the top. When he makes an allusion toward taming me, well, it’s a challenge I can’t possibly resist.

I want him to try.

I might secretly want him to succeed.

Just a little taste of the forbidden. Just one touch. An experience I can take away lest I wonder for the rest of my life what it might have been like.

Only barbarians play by their own rules. I am tossed over his broad shoulder, taken to his tent, and subsequently liberated of all my daggers… even the hidden ones that no one finds.

There are very few occasions in my life when I feel like I might have bitten off more than I can chew, but as I am dropped, weaponless, to his fur bed, I believe this is one.

Tamed for Her Pleasure is a standalone sweet and spicy fantasy barbarian romance set in the coveted prey world! Alpha/beta paring.

Smutty Omegaverse fun. MFM pairing. Really enjoyed this. Short review because quite honestly I’m behind in everything and don’t have the time to write a lengthy review. But this author can write and I’ll read.

Very heavy on the spice! This is a fast-burn, fast-paced MF Omegaverse with a barbarian Alpha and a beta princess. A very easy read with no angst.

The FMC is sassy and just as possessive as her mate. She'd be 100% willing to stab a bitch who tried to touch her man. And she is just as lusty as the alpha who claims her.

A spicy snack with knot training, making it fit, and a growly, possessive MMC that can be read as a standalone in the Coveted Prey universe.

If you're looking for something light and smutty, you need to grab this book.

This book was a hot, smutty, and wild ride.

It dove into the furs quickly and then explored the new dynamic. I loved that Penelope was a tough as nails character that could take down all the boys, but in true Lane fashion she learned to revel in letting go of the power in the bedroom.
This was also one of the first Coveted Prey novels (that I can recall) where the Barbarian learned to fit into a “gentler” culture. So it was interesting to see the things he acquiesced on.

✨Note✨This is a standalone romance but the events in this book begin in Bound For Their Pleasure.

This book is just a smutty good time in the coveted prey series. I love popping in and out of this series and to meet a hot barbarian alpha king and a feisty beta princess was perfect. This was all around a great time and I can't wait to see what L.V. Lane does next in this world.

This author is an automatic one click for me. I loved how the heroine was the one doing the pursuing in this one. Princess Penelope and Alfred the Barbarian don’t work on paper but they are perfect for each other. I definitely recommend.

The book itself is well written and the pace is pretty smooth between characters. My only issue with the book is the lack of relationship development between Alfred and Penelope. At first their banter and opposite personalities drew me in to like them but then the relationship became sexually stagnant. It felt like they were mated for life based on sexual compatibility and nothing else. Whenever they had a conversation or shared comments it always centered around sex. I believe there needs to be a balance to appreciate the good sex in the book. I also felt the FMC interesting characteristics were dialed down to be someone who has barbaric sex and is to be filled with children. They express love but I can’t see how considering all their time spent together is finding new positions to have sex. It would be nice to have an actual conversation and interest each other as partners without it leading to the bed. The book missed vulnerability, true connection, and genuine partnership. Sex should be a perk not the center of the relationship. The MMC views taking care of his partner by giving her dick and kids. But what about making sure her mental and emotional health is alright, caring about her physical well being, not always believing his dick is the cure to everything, or even doing non-sexual gestures of love. Penelope would probably do the same but he would mostly see it as a turn on and it’s exhausting reading the same type of scenes over and over. Last thing the FMC needs to be more independent and set boundaries about herself. It was sad to read that what made her rebellious and interesting was chalked up to needing a man to “tame” her. That her real purpose is to be filled and pregnant with kids.

Hate it.

I do not understand why L.V. lane’s books have went from amazing to so ungodly cheesy. I couldn’t even stand to read the whole thing. It’s like a love struck high schooler wrote this boom.

REVIEW:

I've really been looking forward to Alfred and Penelope's book since we met them in Lor, Aston, and Freya's book (Bound for their Pleasure). They had such strong chemistry in that book and I knew it would be good.

This book starts off in the middle of that book. We see Alfred helping Lor get Aston and Freya back. So it's a neat overlap.

I really enjoyed this one. I LOVED Alfred. His name is absolutely awful, but other than that he is so strong and big and sexy. I absolutely loved him.

I also really liked Penelope. She's strong and skilled and feisty. But I loved how she also enjoyed Alfred's dominance and alpha-ness. She had a good balance.

The steam was hot with lots of delicious knotting and other sexiness. I'm a little torn about whether I like that alphas can knot betas in this world. I know it's a thing because this is like the billionth book I've read by this author. But it seems that the whole point of omegas being able to knot alphas is lost when betas can do it too. Still, it was hot and I loved how he "prepared" her for his knot. Yum.

I loved the side characters too. Of course we get to see Lor and Aston (from Bound for Their Pleasure). We also see Jack and mention of Hazel (from Trained for Their Pleasure). I also loved the three guards Dick, Wendle, and Poach. And I do hope Alfred's brother Espen gets a book too (and maybe his other brothers too hmmm).

The one thing I didn't like about this book is that Alfred had to give up his role as clan king. This was disappointing and a little sad to me.

But overall I did enjoy the book. It was steamy and a little sweet. Not much drama, just a little poisoning and betrayal thrown in, but nothing major. But it was a fun and sexy Omegaverse read.

Penelope, stark, wild & voller guter Absichten …

Wer hätte gedacht, was in Penelopes Absichten liegt.

I absolutely love L.V. Lane's books. I especially love that this Author adds MM in some of their books. This was the first book I read that was not an RH. I enjoyed both Alfred and Penelope for the most part. Penelope, definitely got on my nerves at times. Although I did not like the name Alfred for the Barbarian King. When I hear/see the name Alfred I immediately think of the little old man in Batman. When reading about this fierce, 7 ft tall, built like a Viking of old beast of a man, and then learning that his name is Alfred I was like "Are you serious!!!" 😳??? For me, it took away from his character, his masculinity. Imagine if Khal Drogo from GOT had been named Alfred, 😕. It simply doesn't fit. I was so heartbroken that Alfred was forced to leave his beautiful home and move to such a plain, boring city. It was even worse because Penelope would have thrived in the Barbarian land. I could not stand her father. When she finally confronted her father about his kidnapping of Freya and Asten, and holding them both as prisoners he dared to make some pathetic excuse about making difficult decisions as a King. He didn't even see it as wrong! And, Penelope just accepted his excuse. It would have been one thing if he had admitted that he was wrong in his decision to imprison them and then thought about selling her off to another alpha for political gain but he didn't. Nor did he say that he wouldn't have gone through with it. It pissed me off when Alfred and Penelope arrived at the monstrosity of a castle and her father declared that they would need to be separated. He didn't give a damn that they were newly mated or how it would physically affect Alfred. Even worse was the fact that Penelope barely put up a fight for her mate. This was my first time reading a book by this author that was an Alpha/Beta pairing and this will definitely be the last. I didn't like that Penelope wasn't able to feel the same bond and pull towards Alfred. I will always prefer fated-mates to this. The book overall was alright.

Tamed For Her Pleasure is another great addition to the Coveted Prey universe. This was a quick read, with minimal to no angst! Although this story can be read as a standalone, it would be beneficial to read Bound For Their Pleasure first, as the events leading to this story start in that previous novel.

Tamed For Her Pleasure was a fast-paced, spicy, quick-burn, MF romance between an Alpha Barbarian King, Alfred, and Beta Princess, Penelope.

When meeting Penelope in a previous novel, I knew she was going to be a spirited FMC, and this did not disappoint. Penelope is tough, can hold her own against man or woman (I mean she trained with an elite guild of fighters since she was a child), and assertive when she has an idea in mind.

Alfred is seven foot of alllllllllllllllllll man and he is quickly entranced by this "little girl" who was able to injure a dozen of his men and infiltrate his camp. Alfred quickly takes Penelope to the furs for discipline and the new dynamic between them is thoroughly explored. Alfred’s alpha nature craves Penelope’s submission, and Penelope has met her match who she trusts implicitly to help her let go.

I LOVED everything about Penelope and Alfred’s dynamic! The banter, the spice, the knot training 🔥, the way in which Alfred was quick to recognize what Penelope needed and he was devoted to follow her anywhere, which included changing his life completely…I couldn’t get enough!

If you’re looking for a light, smutty, feel-good story, read this!

Ahh this is probably up there as one of the hottest LV stories 🥵🥵🥵

Although short and sweet this Coveted Prey installment still packs a lot of plot into the smut, and as I've come to love with LV's stories the banter and funny moments!!

I loved Penelope and Alfred's story 😍 Penelope was a brat and Alfred is intent on taming her... But is it really he who is tamed in the end? 😈 Their lives could not be further apart, their cultures clash, but with some compromises they make it work, because of course it can't NOT work when Alfred is determined to have his woman!

If you've seen the series Vikings I got SUCH Rollo vibes from Alfred!

Also, I stand by my admission, you cannot give us a side character, give him a name like Espen, feed us a little crumb of knowledge, and not expect us to riot for his story, please and thank you 🙏

So freaking hot. I loved this. The story between our mc's is beautiful! A strong, capable, feisty princess and a fierce, powerful, commanding clan king. These two were perfect for each other. They both had aspects of their personalities that complemented and enhance bits in the other. I really enjoyed the different take that this story took as far as setting. While still in the world that I've come to love, we see the joining of two worlds collide in a noble princess and heir to a throne, and a barbarian clan king. I very much enjoyed it. Getting to see these two's relationship progress and from was really beautiful. There was also much hilarity that legitimately had me cackling the a crazy person. For the most part I have loved every book that has come from this series and would and this one is absolutely no exception. I cannot wait for more books from L.V!

Another fantastic story in the Coveted Prey series!

I absolutely adored Penelope! I love a women who doesn't conform to what's expected of her
...who is a bada$$ and is stubborn, strong willed and bratty.

But when it came to Alfred she knew she'd met her match, she enjoyed and felt safe sparing with him and when she decided to submit it was on her terms. I mean seriously, swoon.

And then there is Alfred...a flippin' barbarian king willing to flip his world/life on its head for his Beta Princess. He found a way to merge their lives and world and kept them both happy.

The steam was HOT as I have come to expect from L.V, so that of course just added a yummy layer to the book.

I'll definitely be adding this to my forever library and will be anxiously awaiting L.V.'s next release.

She was a trained warrior and he was a barbarian king

Penelope was destined to rule her country and she is always in trouble. She heard a rumor about a barbarian in the cells below the castle proper. She sneaks in and finds there is an alpha barbarian, one whose mate was stolen by an upstart lordling. She decides to help the barbarian out by finding his mate or the barbarian king and tell either one of the situation. Penelope does find the king and she gets herself in a jam. She finds she rather likes this barbarian King Alfred and takes the negotiations to a different level. This is a good read. This book does have spanking so if that’s a no go for you this isn’t the book for you. For all the others this is a good read.

I love the different kind of women you can find in the world this author has created! But it is so great when you see the ones who are warriors in their own right. And Penelope definitely fits that mold! Alfred was such a a great Alpha character! He had his way of thinking and he never apologized for it. Tho my other favorite thing about this book is Alfred, who is a Barbarian, knows he has to go to Penelope's world in order to have his mate. So watching him try to become part of her world had some very interesting moments! Both MCs were great and I loved how they came together!

I think the reason this series is so good is because, you really can get such different characters and situations, but still be within the Coveted Prey world!

Tamed For Her Pleasure is book twenty-three in the A Coveted Prey series by L.V. Lane.

💜 princess FMC
💜 barbarian clan king
💜 couple of mysteries
💜 omegaverse
💜 🌶🌶🌶🌶 spice

Alfred must leave with his clansmen to recover one of his clansman’s mate who have been taken from him. He is the king of his clan and this slight can not stand and the mate groups need to be together. Penelope is sneaking down into the dungeons. She knows something is wrong but her father, the king, is not being forthcoming. What she finds is a barbarian. Why is he down here? What is actually happening? Can she do anything to make things right?

This read pulled me into the storyline completely right away. Penelope is trained and is strong. I really liked her character. Alfred may be a barbarian, but he was so smart and knows how to lead. This was a wonderful addition to this series.

This book is full of everything that you would expect in a story from Ms. Lane. It moves along quickly, introducing us to the main characters and the Coveted Prey world in which they live. Princess Penelope and Alfred are so much fun, I loved them both. I was not sure if I would enjoy their story since Penelope is not an omega, but her beta status only changed things up for a short time. I loved how Alfred adapted to his new surroundings, he was so charming in a rough kind of way. There is lots of steam, and Alfred was quite good at taming Penelope with his barbarian ways. Of course the fiery princess was even better at taming the barbarian. This is a good addition to the series, you should read it .

Never underestimate the power of a princess, Penelope is my hero!
I love the way she knows what she wants, I mean it didn't start out that way, but she does saunter into camp and it's Alfred who grabs her. But she does eventually grab him by his braded locks and does the metaphorical bonks him on the head to drag him home to daddy (Can you just picture the birds and heart floating over his head).
It was fun to read about the Princess taming the Barbarian, not like Alfred was kicking and screaming about it. Believe me, he let himself be tamed by this spitfire.
As always Ms. Lane knocked this one out of the park

Yall When I tell you that @authorlvlane ❤️‍🔥📖 Books never miss I mean THEY NEVER MISS! She writes omegaverse books perfectly. My favorite is when she writes an Alpha/Beta story. Because unlike an omega. Both Alpha & beta must work together. The Alpha has to restrain themselves from over dominating and breaking the beta. And the Beta must learn to submit against thiere basic usrges and alow themselves to be taken care of. I think it reminds me that everyone needs some one they can be full opena nd exposed to . Without fear of being denied or hurt. And this story incorporates that feeling so well.

I have a personal preference when it comes to OV relationships, Alphas and Omegas pairing. However, I do enjoy other dynamics as long as the author knows how to keep things believable, interesting, and most importantly, me engaged. LV Lane is one such author.

Alfred and Penelope's situation grabbed me since the first time they appeared as secondary characters in another book, so I am glad we get a book on them. Penelope is no wilting flower. She's a fiesty Beta, who just so happened to make a stressful situation more interesting when she's hoping to diffuse it. And here Alfred is, having to figure out how to handle this situation he finds himself in.

I enjoyed this book very much, Alfred and Penelope's chemistry is HOT. It's a wonderful addition to this series and not to be missed!

With the twenty-third installment of the Coveted Prey series, L.V.Lane introduces Alfred. Penelope, and Aiden to the world of the Alphas and Omegas that she has richly crafted. In the poor and rough work of Bleakness, Penelope is a ray of light that Alfred and Aiden desperately seek. Just not for one another admitted lately at once. For brothers, Barbarians are a jealous lot. Sharing is not a planned thing between them.
Penelope, a princess of the Raven Guild since she was a child, is to spy the camp of Alfred and Aiden. But only for a message for the King. Only she gets a beating from Alfred instead. Who gets tamed and by whom? Alfred or Penelope or Aiden?

For one thing I love that Penelope is a warrior princess coming to the aid in an unconventional way to rescue a mated Omega and her mates from being prisoners only to fall over the knee of the Alpha Barbarian king who came to her fathers kingdom to retrieve his clanspeople…
Alfred is tired of all the women in his clan trying to claim him for his position in the clan until an unlikely Beta Princess who sashays her way into his life to ignite the dominate Alpha in his core…
Loved the sweetness and spiciness of this story with an element of danger and humour making it for me a perfect read.

WOW! That was insanely spicy, intense, and emotional. And I enjoyed every second of it.

Penelope is such a sassy, bratty and possessive omega and she would do anything and everything for her mate.

Alfred is determined that he’s going to tame feisty Penelope even if it kills him. But little does he realize, she is going to turn it around on him and actually tame Alfred into the perfect mate.

I loved the banter, the funny and sweet moments, but I lived for the all of the depraved and sinfully delicious moments of it.

So good!!

Sweet comical beta/alpha romance

Penelope: princess, beta, skilled fighter, constantly getting into mischief. I loved how feisty Penelope was. I wasn't mad that she was not an omega. She was tiny yet not helpless.
Alfred: barbarian king, alpha. I loved that Alfred abdicated being king of his clan because he knew Penelope couldn't.

- I liked this spin of the fmc, having to protect & defend the mmc. It was only for a tiny part of the book. And it didn't take away from her femininity.
- Loved the size difference

I wanted an extended epilogue with all their babies.

This was fine, not my favorite but not my least favorite. I loved the beginning, Penelope won me over and I loved her feisty attitude. Alfred was a really good male lead. I feel like the story was a bit rushed in some places and went way too fast in others. Like, I could've used a bit more time for Alfred to abdicate his throne with the clan and then I felt like the conflict with the poisoning and who did it and everything took up too much space in the book. I guess the timing was a bit off for me. Overall, it was an easy quick read, and I did enjoy it but, probably won't come back to read it again.

L.V. Lane does it again, with another great book.
The plot was addictive and kept me invested till the end.
There was a bit of action, some humor, drama, and lots of spice.
I loved Alfred and Penelope. They both had great qualities and were evenly matched.
The steamy scenes were delicious.
It was good to see both of them willing to comprise for each other.
I love all the ways that Alfred proved he love Penelope.
I think this was a fantastic read!

I loved loved loved loved loved this book 😍 yes that’s a lot of love.

If you’ve read any of Livs barbarian books then you know why I love them so much. Gruff grumbly alphas who like to give a good spanking to those naughty girls 😈 and Alfred is just mwah 😙

I loved these 2 characters. Penelope is such a strong female lead but when she’s with Alfred that all disappears but in a fun spicy way 🤪

I really enjoyed the story and the flip of a barbarian on a different situation.

These stories are so easy to read as the writing just flows where you get lost in the world Liv writes. I would seriously love to be in the coveted prey world 😍

There is lots of spice, humor and emotion 🖤 I couldn’t put the story down until I finished. I wanted to much more as I just loved them and all the side characters which I hope we may get to see again 😍

I'm always a fan of the Coveted Prey Series and this one was just as good and maybe in even hotter! The FMC is very relatable with her willful ways and of course, it wouldn't be an accurate omegaverse heroine without being a brat as well. The MMC is hot, possessive and I love it when he falls first. Gets me every time. I especially enjoy the tie-in of other past stories so you get a little epilogue-ish update. And the heat.... chef's kiss! Please keep this series going!
