I enjoyed this a bit more than book 1! I liked Juliette more than the first books FMC. She was unhinged but you understand why and love her more for it.
Dante oh Dante. You could have dealt with her stubbornness in a better way rather than drugging her to get married. I'll let it slide in a way (despite how angry I was) because he had no idea about her past and he was getting extremely impatient in the last 2 years waiting for her to come around. He created a SHITTY plan to get married in Vegas.
Now, why was it horrifying for her if she ever found out? She was drugged and raped when she was in High School, something nobody ever found out. So, of course when she finds out about Dante and his plan, she lost her shit and walked away. Nobody could blame her and even Dante didn't. His regret was real, and he was extremely remorseful the entire time and groveled to be with her again. He had to prove his worth and trust and I believe he did. Not only after the truth was revealed but throughout the last two years and everything, he did for her during their marriage.
But let’s back up a little bit, shall we? She has an intense fear of any man touching her, they spend months trying to work through her fear after he finds out about it and the reasons. His patience and understanding were what you expected of him after waiting for her for two years and being madly insanely obsessively in love with her.
She finally was able to trust him and allow herself to be with him.
Now - Juliette had extracurricular activities on the side. What? Well, she was on a mission to kill the 3 guys who raped her, she killed 2 but the third was killed/tortured by Dante himself by her request. She is also going through her list of killing anybody who had a hand in killing her birth parents and she is almost done except one aka Sofia Volkov.
Juliette went through so much in this book, her journey to healing was a tough road for her but she made it out of it a stronger woman. Dante stood right along with her and despite his initial fuck up, made it up to her and held her hand through it all.
His actions throughout the book and his obsession with her were intense to say the least. He was celibate during the 2 years when they had NO relationship because he couldn't stand the idea of someone else, nor could he even perform even if he did. She was celibate since she had been raped years ago.
Also, something that happened over a decade ago? Well, Juliette was in NY and a man tried to attack her (she was 13) but she was saved by a boy who was a bit older than her. She gave him her pink scrunchie. Who was that boy? Dante, he knew all along who she was as he never forgot her, but she found out later on. They were meant to be! Even his letters to her were perfect.
Can't wait for Emory/Killian? and of course, the elusive and mysterious Priest with Ivy!
DANTE AND JULIETTE STORY BOOK OMG. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG…. AND THIS SERIES “KINGPINS OF THE SYNDICATE “ IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SERIES FROM THE AUTHOR. LIKE THE FIRST BOOK FROM THE SERIES IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE 😍❤️ VILLAINOUS KINGPIN! WYNTER AND BASILIO STORY IS ONE OF MY TOP FAVE FROM THIS AUTHOR😍
This HEROINE from the book is one of my favorite as well. It’s like reading MYSELF because almost 99% of her character and personality is like me lol. And the heroine, MY FAVE PART IS THAT HER GANG OF FRIENDS IS ONE OF THE BEST FRIENDSHIP I EVER READ ON THE SERIES! They’re best friends since college, they do this amazing badass heist together to build something amazing, they love to do very silly and dangerous things together, they always so real with each other and the way they talked together about everything is so freakin funny. It made me want to read about them over and over again! 🤩 Four of them are juliette (the heroine from this book), wynter (the first heroine from the first book of the series), Davina, and Ivy. My personal favorite: this heroine. juliette 😏🔥🤩
THE STORY IS NOT TOO DARK LOVE ROMANCE. There’s some dark romance or scenes there but not too much in my opinion… Grab your coffee when you read this story because it’s a fun and romantic one to read 🔥🔥 You won’t ever be bored!
The story starts with the heroine and her best friends that i just write above is doing a heist on the hero’s casino called Royal Lucky Casino in Chicago at night while the hero was investigating someone in his private office. Suddenly his floor manager called the hero and his brother in their private office for a problem. The problem is one of the heroine’s best friends aka cousin Wynter is winning each hand on the casino. That made the hero and his brother curious and wants to go there to see the situation… (Which made me happy to see a man is curious about a woman is doing very well on gambling). When the hero go there with his brother, he finally see the heroine. Who he said that he saw the heroine last month in new york on a club. The hero even start with a possessive words about the heroine because mens in the casino are staring at her🤣 And he called her mine when he first saw her in the casino. Wow yay! Suddenly the heroine saw the hero and go to him. Her ankle wobbled and she tripped. The hero try to steady her and when he saw her in front of him, he really just blown away…. The heroine try to seduce the hero and even his brother next to him so that they can’t see her cousin playing cards. When the alarm on the casino turns on, the heroine kicked the hero on his nuts 🤣 And she runs away with her friends… The heroine runs away, but the hero make it clear and claimed on her that night she kicked him. He made a vow to pursue her and be obsessed with her….
(You can read the heist part on the first book of this series “villainous kingpin” and “corrupted pleasure”)
“My obsession. My blood and my oxygen. It wasn’t healthy to feel this obsessive about anyone, but then that never stopped the DiLustro men before.”
“After what seemed like a lifetime of being hated and alone, she was the one I needed to fill that empty space. I wanted her so badly. A life with her. A lover. A friend. I wanted to be chosen. I wanted to be wanted. I wanted her to want me.”
‼️‼️‼️TRIGGER: R*pe, high on violence, abuse, guns, alcohol, death, mafia, car accidents, killing and deception.
‼️‼️‼️SAFE ROMANTIC HOT LOVE STORY.
‼️‼️‼️NO UNNECESSARY CHILDISH DRAMA….
‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT.
Ever since the hero and heroine saw each other in the casino…. The hero never ever go to anyone else, and the heroine never ever go to anyone else either. Both are loyal and celibate in two years before they become official ❤️ The hero waited the heroine and still loyal to her that long🥺
“Two years without a woman was a long fvcking time.”
“For the past two years, our interactions had been limited. Most of the time, it ended with the two of us bickering. But I made it my mission during that time to learn everything about this girl. Everything. Her favorite color. Her favorite foods. Her reading selection. Her favorite flowers. Her bucket list. Yes, she had a damn bucket list on Pinterest and I stalked it. I hadn’t touched another woman since this wildling bumped into me and proceeded to seduce me. All the years between us and she practically had me wrapped around her finger.”❤️
Not like LUCA the previous book from the author, that man have s3x with any woman while obsessing his heroine. So freakin stupid!
BUT THIS HERO RIGHT HERE, DANTE, HE WAITED THE HEROINE AND NEVER EVER GO TO ANYONE ELSE…. LOYAL HERO DANTE ❤️
‼️‼️‼️DUAL POV
‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS
But both have been celibate for a while…. Like years.
‼️‼️‼️THE ROMANCE. THE CHEMISTRY. OMG…. IT IS SOOO FREAKIN ROMANTIC 😍😍😍🥺
THE HERO IS SOOO OBSESSED WITH THE HEROINE…. ALWAYS LIKE TO SAY MINE. MINE. MINE 🔥🔥❤️🥺🥺
There are many scenes where the couple even though they’re in the mafia world like from both of their family, they know how to have fun and a quality time together as a couple! Isn’t that so great and romantic😍 They went on a date, even go to a book cafe place that both of them sit next to each other and the heroine read her book with the hero just watching her admiring her! 🥺❤️ They went on a ski trip together! 😍 And not just went there and go, but actually having fun and it so romantic to read them talking about their quality time. The hero can’t stop looking at the heroine to make sure she’s safe 🥺 There’s a scene where the hero takes the heroine to his office and the heroine just sit beside him while he is doing his work. It just so refreshing to see that, their quality time as a couple and married couple… Thank you author. They even have times where they have dinner together in the house, breakfast 🥺 The hero was so understanding with the heroine, despite her being childish and make a lot of rules around him. The hero never ever forbidden her. The hero always say yes to her to everything she wants 🥺 There are so many times the hero always say that her needs and wants is the number one for him, that she is the essence of his life that he needs so bad and daily… Even when the heroine asked the most silly things, and talked about the future, THE HERO ALWAYS SAY YES TO HER….
“Because I want you so fucking much that the thought of living without you makes me want to end it all.”
“I studied that face, missing those blue eyes that stole my soul that day in the Royally Lucky Casino. It turned out the name was perfect, because I’d lucked out. Fate brought her to me. And fuck it, I seized the opportunity and kept her with me. She was mine and let anyone try to take her away from me.”
“I want to see your blush when we’re eighty. I want you to want me when I’m wrinkly and old. I’ll go with you. Like that Notebook movie.” “Well, that’s… romantic, I didn’t take you for such a romance buff.” “I wasn’t until I fell for you.”
❤️
“I’d loved her for so long, it was part of my every heartbeat.”
🥺
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS OVER THE TOP POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE BILLIONAIRE MAFIA BOSS ALPHA MALE. YES I REPEAT. OVER. THE. TOP. POSSESSIVE.
“I wanted her to know that I’d always be behind her if someone wronged her. And I’d damn well be in front of her if someone tried to hurt her. I’d shred them to pieces.” 🥺
I love the hero so much! The hero omg. Where do i start🥺 The hero is very patient with the heroine even when the heroine is being so annoyingly stubborn and stupid and sometimes lost with her own thoughts, the hero never ever gave up on her. The hero never gave up on their relationship no matter his own family tells him to gave up on the heroine… The hero is a mafia boss, he owns casino and guns and many other business. He even own a furniture company because the heroine wants to buy beds from that place😂 But his own businesses is not a whor3 place or something fcked up like that okay. More like casino, guns company, club. No s3x club. The hero’s personality is very calm actually, he is smart and very romantic person and so soft to the heroine… He treats the heroine like a doll 🥺❤️
He baths the heroine, always likes to take care the heroine emotionally and physically. He likes to put clothes to the heroine, many great things. I WANT THE HERO FOR MYSELF 🤣 The hero have a bad traumatic past from his mom but he never mentioned it a lot tho…
THE HERO IS NOT A MANWHOR3.
THE HERO STALKED THE HEROINE but not too much in that two years of him waiting on her… The hero knows everything about her, even her favorite food and color. The hero hacks her Pinterest account to see what she likes!
“Regretting marrying your wildling?” I joked, “I want every inch of you, Juliette. I want to know you inside and out—all your good, bad, ugly, sad, happy. I want it all.”
🥺❤️
‼️‼️‼️NOOOOO EX BOYFRIEND EX GIRLFRIEND EX FVCK BUDDY OR ANYTHING EVER SHOWS UP FROM THE COUPLE. NONE 🤩
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE is very stubborn, smart, very funny, very sassy and beautiful woman. She is very known from from the previous books that she’s very stubborn and sassy. She likes to say whatever she wants to anybody even to other mafia family without a filter on her. The heroine knows how to defend herself emotionally and physically… The heroine is fearless! SHE KNOWS HOW TO FIGHT AND KILL 🔥 She’s so funny😂 She likes to make jokes a lot and it made the hero always laugh at her… The heroine have a bad past, it made the heroine push the hero away many times in the beginning… At first it was annoying but then i learned and sympathize with her…
Also I feel like the heroine is just too stubborn to even acknowledge her pain from her past that it made her just too drawn with it… So you will read on how many times her POV that her thoughts is just stupid and a lost girl… At first it was annoying for me to read it but then thankfully that didn’t get too much 😅 You have to be patient to read the heroine’s pov lol.
‼️‼️‼️PUSHING AWAY FROM THE HEROINE MANY TIMES BUT NOT TOO MUCH. The hero never ever push the heroine away…
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE is 23 years old or twenty?! I forgot but she’s between that age. The hero is 28 years old FS.
‼️‼️‼️LOCATION: New york, Chicago, Japan, Philadelphia and California.
‼️‼️‼️I LOVE THAT THE HERO’S OWN HOUSE THAT HE LIVES WITH THE HEROINE, HE NEVER BRING ANOTHER WOMAN THERE EVER… AND ALL OF HIS S3X TOYS ARE NEW FOR HER…. HE NEVER EVER USED IT WITH ANYONE ELSE BEFORE.
‼️‼️‼️NO TALKING ABOUT THE PAST PARTNERS.
‼️‼️‼️MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HERO. And very little from the heroine herself…
“Look at my wife one more time, and you’ll lose your eyeballs by the time the elevator door opens.”
“I glared across the street to where the fucker smiled at and chatted with my girl. Their table was right at the window, giving them a view of Central Park. So fucking romantic, I couldn’t stand it. I wanted to pull my gun out, aim, and end him. Right here and now in the street heaving with tourists. My anger simmered. Jealousy burned. Something inexplicably dark rose in my chest and refused to ease. No matter Juliette’s refusal. No matter her stubbornness. She was mine.”
And many more.
️‼️‼️OF COURSE we get to see other mafia family from the previous book and even the recent book. The couple tatiana and konstatin! No babies tho from the other family which is sad because i love their babies scenes 🥺
‼️‼️‼️VERY HOT EXTREMELY SMUT SCENES 🔥
The hero likes to pleasure and worship the heroine so badly…
“Pain, pleasure… anything from you, it’s heaven.”
“I'd get her. Under me. On top of me. Beside me. All the fucking positions. Doggy style. Spooning. Rocking horse. Missionary.”
“licked a slow path over her entrance. She smelled like heaven. Mine.”
“Her arousal perfumed the air, and it was the best kind of scent.”
‼️‼️IT HAS ACTIONS TOO.
The heroine fighting the enemy alone and them fighting the enemy together 🤩
‼️‼️‼️NO OTHER DRAMA WITH OM AND OW…
The drama is mostly about themselves and family and enemy.
‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING.
Married of course.
And have a handsome boy 🥺
‼️‼️‼️I really love that there are many quality time together even though this is a mafia dark romance novel. But it’s not too dark either though… thankfully the heroine is not too childish and not too stupid like tatiana from the newest book.
👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽Thank you so much for reading my review❤️ For you who loves my review and follow it, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I did not get paid or be told to do a review on a book. I’m here just to write review about a book so i can remember it. Its my honest opinion😚 I didn’t know at first people will find me and follow me and trust me to be honest, I was surprised myself to look at the notifications from people who reach out to me😆 So everything i write down here on a review is based on my personal opinion and based on my true writing. I DID NOT COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW OR WRITING SKILL because at first when i was using this app for one year i didn’t know how to scroll down on a book and see the reviews from others😂😅🤣 I know, silly me but hey I finally learned my lesson 😛😛😛 Thats why when people assume i copy someone’s review i was like what? Because at first i didn’t know how to use this app properly and i didn’t know how to open someone’s review because for a year i never follow someone or add friends or someone😂😂😂🤣 (I’m laughing so hard) 🤪 AND I NEVER COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW EVER. IF I WRITE SOMETHING WRONG OR DOESN’T MAKE SENSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND BE NICE OKAY. 👈🏽👈🏽👈🏽✋🏽✋🏽 IF YOU'RE BEING MEAN AND NEGATIVE ALREADY WITH A WARNING AND NOT BEING WISE TO ME, I WILL NOT ENTIRELY READ YOUR COMMENT AND REMOVE YOU EASILY AND FAST. I DO NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT SO KNOW YOUR PLACE, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I’m writing my disclaimer again here cause many negative people still don't get it or still be stupid enough not to understand my POV when I already write it so many times before. So here I am writing it again to you beautifuls human being😁😁 WHEN YOU READ MY LONG OR SHORT REVIEW, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT WHAT I LIKE ABOUT A STORY AND CHARACTERS RIGHT... IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEN HERE IT IS: I LIKE A BOOK WITH VERY POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE, NO CHEATING, AND PLEASE NO MANWHOR3, NO MANY PUSHING AWAY, NO DOORMAT HEROINES, NO MANY OW DRAMA, NO S3X SCENE WITH SOMEONE ELSE. AND SAFE ALL THE WAY AND A HAPPY ENDING. Something that I don't like it very much if the hero or heroine have a crazy fvcked up personality and likes. Example: killing someone and let the heroine watch it all and push the heroine to lick all the blood of his victim and made her have to eat the meat of humans. and fvcks many woman in front of the heroine while telling her he loves her. I DON'T LIKE THAT TYPE OF SH*T AT ALL. That's just who I am, that's what I like and I don't like on a book. Maybe you love that, but I don't. We humans are different, we think very differently from one another. You have your likes and I have mine, you have your opinions and I have mine of my own. You think it's stupid of me to love such a book or to not love a book or to hate it whatever lol, I think it's bad you think that way cause I respect people's opinions cause I know for a fact we have our differences. YOU AND ME ARE DIFFERENT FOR PETE'S SAKE. I even have my own friends or people I follow here that shows how much they don't like the book I like, I never even give them a long comment or short Comment. Cause I respect their opinions. I don't like to give people I hard time here cause life itself is already hard enough. I do respect your opinion if you say my review is bad or whatever negative things about it, but in the end of the day I will not changed my mind about what book I dislike and how my thoughts about it. You can't tell me what to do. You can give me advice but it's me who decided to know what's right for me, this is my life and not yours. Read that again. Don’t assume things about me that is not even real, just don’t. cause when you do you’re more small minded for sure. You're thinking why I'm telling you all of this when you already know? Is because you still hating on my opinions and don't understand my POV and don't respect my POV. You think i like writing this disclaimer when obviously you're an adult already? no i personally think this is unnecessary... but because there are people out there who still don't get it *rolling my eyes*. Hopefully they or the people who read this disclaimer can use a beautiful thing called a brain:) AND WHEN YOU READ MY REVIEW, READ IT VERY CLEARLY TO SEE IF I FINISHED THE BOOK OR NOT. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. AND YES ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE. BUT IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M WRITING, THEN IT MEANS YOU UNDERSTAND IT ENOUGH. I DO NOT TOLERATE BULLYING, NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND MEAN WORDS. PLEASE USE A WISE WORDS SO WE DON'T ATTACK EACH OTHER. SIMPLY, I DON’T LIKE TO HAVE AN ARGUMENT WITH STRANGERS LIKE YOU CAUSE I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO😚 BUT IF YOU STILL WANT TO BE AMBER HEARD KARENS THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND MY DISCLAIMER AFTER I JUST WRITE IT DOWN, THEN GO ENJOY YOUR DAY AND GO AWAY. IT'S VERY EASY FOR A HUMAN COULD DO YA KNOW. IF YOU STILL HERE HATING ME OR ANNOYED WITH ME, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. NOT ME PROBLEM. HASHTAGS BURN😂😂 DON'T TAKE THINGS TOO PERSONALLY ON ONLINE CAUSE WE ALL A STRANGERS, WE NEVER EVER MEET. WE'RE ADULTS HERE SO LETS BE WISER. LAST, I BLOCK NEGATIVE PEOPLE! SO GET WELL SOON TO THE HATERS. HOPEFULLY YOUR HEART AND MIND WILL BE MORE POSITIVE 🙏🙏🙏 AND THIS DISCLAIMER MAY SEEMS LIKE TOO HARSH ON YOU BUT HEY I DON'T LIKE TO SUGAR COATED THINGS. I LIKE TO SAY TO THE POINT WITH MY UNDERSTANDING AND MY OWN THOUGHTS, CAUSE THAT'S HOW HUMANS ARE. WE ARE DIFFERENT REMEMBER👍 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!
This series is slaying for me! It is so engaging and even though I wasn't quite in the mood for another Mafia Romance this week.. As soon as I hit play... I was sucked right back into it! I love when that happens.
I knew Dante and Juliette were going to be epic! How right I was. Though they are not without their hiccoughs... including Dante making a very stupid mistake. He may have tricked Juliette into marrying him, but she ain't gonna just roll over and let him have her. Not only because of past trauma but because she has a mission. A dangerous one at that.
But Dante reveres Juliette and though he does fuck up in a colossal way... his desire and love for her will prove his devotion. Also, the way he woos her and let's her experiment with him sexually... making sure she feels in control until she's ready to cede it to him... it was beautiful.
Overall, this was another great entry to the series and I can't wait to listen to more form Eva Winners.
Narrated in duet style by Aaron Shedlock and Mackenzie Cartwright. They were on fire with this one! I am loving the narration in this series.
4.5 stars 3 on the spice scale
CW: R*pe (in the past), PTSD, Drugging, S*icide attempt, Violence, and Murder
*Thank you to Must Love Audio and the author for an ALC of this title.*
“If you jump, Juliette, so do I,” Dante said, his voice muffled against the back of my head. “You want to fly, my wildling? We’ll fly together.”
I really enjoyed this book! Juliette was my kind of girl, she was strong, sassy, brave and badass. Her vulnerable side was a delight to read about and only Dante could bring it out. Dante was such a romantic at heart, I did not expect him to be this whipped. But the things he did for Juliette, proved that they were meant to be together. I also loved all the side characters, they had a strong presence. This series has me captivated and I can't wait to see who is going to get their own book next! The setting was good, there was some action, drama and angst and Dante & Juliette's story was fantastic.
Dante DiLustro has never made it a secret that he wants Juliette Brennan. For 2 years he pursues her. Relentlessly. Even goes so far as to ask her father if he can marry her. But Juliette is not interested. She's on a mission of vengeance and there's no way she's letting a man get in her way. Dante definitely evokes lots of emotion from her, but it just makes her want to run even more. Fate keeps throwing the two together and after a crazy night in Vegas, Juliette wakes up to find herself with a major hangover and a ring on her finger. In his rabid pursuit of her, Dante may have done something that could wind up being unforgivable - even in ignorance.
Super emotional journey! The story and these characters just pulled you in from page one and will have you running the gamut of emotions from laughing out loud to shedding a tear. I LOVED Juliette. The beautiful "wildling" turned vigilante. She's super formidable, definitely kinda crazy, and has a mouth that gets her in all kinds of trouble. Her brash exterior is partly cover for her brokenness she's holding in and it just breaks your heart. Dante is a man obsessed with some definite stalker tendencies. He totally feels like Juliette saved him and "knows" they're meant to be. Devious Kingpin is a bit of a slow burn and not quite as spicy as Eva Winners books normally are, but given Juliette's background, it definitely fits in with the storyline. The push and pull between them was fantastic and fans of a good grovel/grand gesture will definitely walk away happy. Absolutely loved it!
Hero and heroine meet when they are young then again when adults. After he meets her as an adult he doesn't look at other women and is celibate for I think it's 2 years until he is with the heroine. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
The heroine is quite loud and mouthy but she is covering up for an event in her younger days. She was raped.
Spoiler. * * The Hero tries to arrange their marriage but it's not working so he decides to drug her drink and they marry in Vegas. Later he deeply regrets this as he learns she was drugged then raped. He is all about her, he is patient with her, although she is unable to be physical with him for a while. Obviously this lie hangs over them until it is discovered.
Some violent scenes.
HEA. Epilogue.

mmmm i’m not impressed. i much prefer her Belles & Mobsters series to this one. and i can’t put my finger on why this didn’t hold my attention that well… it had a semi-badass fmc focused on revenge which was cool, but that’s about one of the only things i liked.
truth be told i think it’s the cast of characters that made this feel so blah. the fmc’s friends were kinda sucky, and there were just so many mf people/names to remember. i understand the author is creating a super interconnected world within all her series, but there were just too many cameos and too many families & connections to keep track of.
this wasn’t that bad, but i’ve definitely read some way better mafia romances. i did skip book 1 in this series bc it just didn’t appeal to me, but i doubt reading it would’ve made my enjoyment for this book much better.
this was a good read, however, most of the book i found it hard to connect with Juliet. sometimes feisty but stubbornness is the usual trait she possess. she was mad at the world which i can understand partly for what happened to her and her parents. but it's annoying when she was just being bull-headed for no appropriate reason, and at times like this she was rude to people even to those who actually cares for her. though i have to say i did like her revenge plan against those who hurt her and her family.
but honestly, i don't think juliet deserves dante. majority of this book she was mean, rude, judgmental, and pain in the ass to him. she made an effort to change things about her around 85% of the book, which for me was already too late. i like head-strong heroine as long as the reason for being like that was solid and valid. but if for the sole reason of being petty then i would despise her. sometimes, i asked myself too why dante kept pursuing her when she only caused him head and heart ache. the idea of her saving him was a good reason but i don't think it was enough to put himself to those ordeal just to get her.
as for dante, he was persistent, patient, and crazy obsessed with juliet. i didn't like his way of getting her that was really stupid. but i appreciate how he never give up and grovel for a month to prove his love for her. him begging on his knees that was so goood. readers knew that he will never hurt juliet, the man was head over heels in love with her for christ's sake. yet i don't think he deserves to endure all of juliet's antic and i was annoyed at him for being a wimp (this is cute if the heroine is endearing but that was not the case here).
anyway, i would've rated this a lot higher if not for juliet's character. it was so hard to like her but i kept hoping that something will change my mind until the end of the book. unfortunately, that wasn't the case. overall the story plot was good and still worth reading nonetheless.
"Thank you for saving me. One day, maybe I'll be the one to save you."
It's a marvellous thing for an author to stuck into a certain type of trope and to interwin so many characters and families from other series all the time and still.... to excel in that department!!! I am so happy that I picked up "Luciano" back then and from that moment, I am like a loyal dog who is expecting his boss to throw him a bone!!! Eva Winners has made me an admirer of her storytelling and I am enjoying very much living into her mafia world!!! Yes, the kingpins of the syndicate is a new series, but I loved seeing cameos of previous beloved characters in Mrs. Winners' stories!!!
"This Juliette wasn't looking for her Romeo."
After the incredible story of Basilio and Wynter, it was time for Dante DiLustro's story, Basilio's cousin!!! He had his own reputation even though he was less crazier than his cousin!!! And what a better pair for him than Juliette Brennan, Wynter's wild card of a cousin!!! These two could burn the ground down with what was burning inside of them... He wanted her from the very first moment, but she was refucing him... She made his life a living hell and still, Dante never gave up on her... Juliette was determined to keep him on arm's length, but one fateful night in Vegas had bound them together forever... But they are both keeping secrets that have the ability to destroy them!!!
"You're not my type." "I am your type, Juliette... You just don't know it yet."
I loved Dante and Juliette... Honestly, I wasn't expecting their story to be so slow burn... but after two years of chasing, everything started to change!!! I liked that Jules was giving him trouble in every turn, but I never expected for Dante to be like that!!! He had stollen my heart just like that and honestly, it was a big shock the way it happened!!! The only sure thing is that these two were meant to be, even though Juliette fought their attraction really hard...
"Obsession was the curse of the DiLustros."
I enjoyed this story very much!!! Dante was so dreamy, even though he made mistakes in here too!!! And Juliette was such a badass!!! She was a true femme fatale and she was determined to seek revenge to those who had harmed her and her family!!! It was such a contrast to the way she was in her personal life, but when you had gone through such a trauma, it was so hard to let go... But Dante turned out to be what Jules was really needed!!! And even though he had his own share of demons, he could do anything for her!!!
"He gave chase. I ran. Until he caught me."
I love the Kingpins so much!!! Basilio started this series with a bang and then, Dante swept me out of my feet... And now, I am wondering about Priest and Ivy... I am very curious about them already... And I am craving Emory's story too!!!! Such a wonderful and intense world, Eva Winners has created in here!!! I just want more and more!!!
"I'll tear this world apart for you..."
**I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review**
This follows Juliette Brennan and Dante DiLustro. Eight years ago one night walking home Juliette was approached by a man in an alley. But a man stepped in and saved her from harm. Giving him a scrunchie out pact was sealed. Little did Juliette know this man would play a big part in her future. What could go wrong?
I enjoyed this storyline. I didn’t expect Juliette to be a bit of a killer but when you have been hurt and want revenge I can see why she was. The drugging situation I knew it would not end well when he finally heard what happened to her. Dante’s nickname for her wildling I love so much. Also when this man can read her with the intimate scene, letting her take control due to her past had me melting. It was a great audiobook so highly recommend. Overall really enjoyed and looking forward to the next book in the series.

Prepare to bask in the inferno that is Dante DiLustro! If you think you've found your favourite Eva book boyfriend already, prepare to be swept away by this Devious Kingpin! - The British Bibliophile
Thank you to Eva Winners for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy for me to read and leave an honest review, as part of her ARC team. ---------------------------------
First came Villainous, next comes Devious. Devious Kingpin is book two in Eva Winners' Kingpins of the Syndicate series. Book one, Villainous Kingpin kicked things off with a bang with Basilio DiLustro & Wynter Star. Now that the two of them are at least for now, living the happily ever after as anyone could in the syndicate underworld, it's time for two--not so new--new players to step up to centre stage.
Hello Dante DiLustro and Juliette Brennan.
If you're already familiar with some of Eva's past works, you'll recognise those two last names (hopefully their first names, too) from the Belles & Mobsters series and the standalone read 'Corrupted Pleasure'. Both families feature in those and with this and Villainous Kingpin, more than two worlds collide here within this series. With the bringing together of Dante and Juliette, comes a good portion of the underworld and the men and women who keep things going while the world keeps turning.
From an unlikely meeting, a small seed is planted and big things promise to blossom and grow. Dante and Juliette have the chance to meet not once, not twice but three time's the charm that will set in motion plans to secure their futures and fates together indefinitely. As the title suggests, it's not through honest means. Deviousness is at work here. Namely, one man spearheading that deviousness, albeit with the best of intentions in his mind. Dante DiLustro.
Dante DiLustro, where do I even begin? I've had a few core favourite Eva Winners book boyfriends/husbands up until this point, but a new king sits upon that throne now and Dante is that man. Juliette may see him as nothing more than deadly, persistent, stubborn and stuff straight from the devil, but as a reader--and latter Juliette sees this too--, we see a whole new side to this ruthless and unsuspecting Romeo. He may have been trying to win and woo Juliette, but he has successfully wooed and won this reader over. Without. A. Doubt.
Juliette Brennan, Irish by name and nature is a tenacious, beautiful and formidable forced to be reckoned with. A minx, in the eyes of a certain DiLustro. Much like the eyes of her beholder, she's someone who is not to be messed with and values honour and justice where the two of them swiftly need to be enacted. When cornered, there's no mercy or hiding away from the claws she will use to fight her way free. Dante will learn this lesson several times over, much to my amusement.
The plot that has been brewing between reads thickens here to a dense consistency, leading up to what will inevitably be a cataclysmic conclusion to end all cataclysmic conclusions. Many puzzle pieces were slotted into place as the story unfolded throughout, with only a few remaining for another time. Although it has a slow-ish start, it only meant that as the heat, angst, tension and all the other ingredients to the cocktail were ready to be shuck up and let loose. Once everything is loose and out in the open, all that's left to do is sit back and enjoy the s**t show (in a good way, I promise).
Eva has yet to craft a story that I've personally failed to like, but I can say with full certainty that this by far has been THE story I have have had the pleasure of enjoying the most. I cannot go into further details of the how's and why's without spoiling the story for those who have not read it yet but when you do, you will know exactly what I mean.
I'm very proud and honoured to not only have enjoyed this unforgettable read over the course of three glorious days, but I consider it to be a must/top read of 2023 for any dark/mafia romance lover. Part with book one by all means, but add this to your TBRs or one-click it asap. That's an order.
Dante DiLustro was not as crazy as his cousin Basilio DiLustro but he had his fair share of crazy, obsessed stalker. From the moment Dante asked Liam for Juliette's hand in marriage, she hated him and avoided him like the plague. Dante - for two years - pursued her relentlessly. From the moment he saw her, he knew she would be his. They bicker back and forth with each other. Juliette likes to push his buttons and he lets her. Basically free entertainment.
But one drunken, Vegas night seals their fate. They wake up married to each other. This spirals into a whirlwind of emotions - good and bad. The more that they spend time together, Juliette starts to open up to Dante and the idea that they're married. They tell each other things that otherwise wouldn't have been shared with their family or friends.
Juliette does have a sad background despite her crazy exterior. Yes, she is in all kinds of trouble but deep down she's just a girl who had to cope how ever she could. That ultimately leads to her living a femme fatale life in secret to avenge herself and the death of her parents. And Dante doesn't stay behind with childhood trauma. His mother was a nut-case. To him and his brother.
Dante and Juliette's story is a slow burn, years in the making. They met when she was thirteen but she doesn't remember this. It's weaved in with a secret that will break them. Juliette will hate Dante for what he's done. It's a wild ride that should be read with caution.
* potential spoiler below *
There was one thing I didn't like. I've noticed that something like this in dark romance either breaks it or makes it. In this case, I feel like it breaks it. Dante and his cousins were in on Dante drugging Juliette that night they got drunk and married in Vegas. It was used to try to convince her or make her receptive to marrying him. I truly believe that this was only used as a plot device that this story could have done without. Juliette had already been violated before - and even though Dante didn't know about this - Dante drugging her is a violation. I didn't really like this part of the plot.

I am really loving the 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘺𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦 series by Eva Winners, and 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗽𝗶𝗻 just became my new favorite. I love an unhinged MMC, but when the FMC is even more so than he is, that’s the best. Juliette is traumatized by her past. What she has been through is devastating, but she is such a badass, I really loved her. Dante has coveted her for years, obsessing over her. And the way he treats her, and the respect he has for her is one of my favorite parts of the story. If you like dark mafia romance, you have to check this series out! But there are dark themes, so be sure to check the TW.
🎧If this sounds like something you’d like, you definitely don’t want to miss out on the audiobook, performed in duet by Aaron Shedlock and Mackenzie Cartwright. I binged it in a day, I couldn’t stop! I had to know how it was all going to go down, and these two made it all the more entertaining and fast paced.

“I love you, Dante. I want to burn with you. Feel you. Talk to you. Sleep with you. Just you.” 🔥🔥🔥
This book was almost perfect!!! I loved Juliette & Dante’s story from their first encounter as kids to adults! Dante also staying abstinent for 2 fricken years?!? Geesh the expectations are high. 🤪🤪 I loved how they went back and forth well mainly Juliette haha she’s such a Fiesty gal and I love every second of it!!! I just wish Juliette would’ve fought a little more after they were married. 🤣🤣 I needed just a little more drama. I needed to know what happened with Ivy and also fricken Sophia?!??? There’s just so many answers I felt are unanswered.
What to Expect: - Dark Mafia Romance - Enemies to Lovers - Forced Marriage - He Falls First - Forced Proximity - Insta-Attraction/Love - Possessive/Obsessive/Unhinged MMC - Found Family
Juliette Brennan and Dante DiLustro are an unlikely match, but don’t tell Dante. Dante was instantly attracted to Juliette the moment he saw her in his club. Although Juliette wanted nothing to do with him, Dante was determined to make her his. He asked her father for her hand in marriage, but Juliette refused. Dante would not give up and was convinced Juliette was his end game, so he devised a terrible plan to force her hand. Juliette is a force to be reckoned with and won’t go down without a fight. Dante certainly found his match, and it was fun to witness. There is a lot of trauma and secrets in this mafia world, and Juliette is not immune. The people who hurt her and her family had no chance. She is a baddie who did everything she could to take them down. One thing is certain: the DiLustro men love hard and treat their women like queens. I am loving this series and am fully invested in this mafia world the author has created.
Narration: Mackenzie Cartwright and Aaron Shedlock perform this audiobook in duet-style narration. They both deliver amazing performances and really bring the story to life. Mackenzie and Aaron are the perfect voices for Juliette and Dante and fully embody the essence of the characters. I was completely locked into this audiobook and could not stop listening.
Thanks to Eva Winners, East House Productions, and Must Love Audio for the ALC. Opinions expressed are my own.
Devious Kingpin by Ava Winners is the first book I read by this author. I must say I absolutely loved her writing! The way everything was described from the characters to the story was absolutely superb. I think I was a fan from the very first chapter.
This a enemies to lovers storyline in a mafia world. So if that’s your jam then this will be right up your alley! The two main characters are Dante (I’m a sucker for this name so I immediately loved him) and Juliette. They’re like a coin…heads; he wants to possess her, keep her. Then on the tails side; she wants to defy, to run away. But then things happen (like they always do) a night in Vegas changes their entire future. (Is it for the better? Worse? Guess you’ll have to read to find out 😉) I loved the world that was created and how seemlessly everything flows. I couldn’t stop reading! I loved “watching” the way the relationship between Dante and Juliette developed. I highly recommend this book, it was so good! Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and two thumbs up. 👍👍 Always be on the safe side and check warnings just to make sure it’s good for you! 😊❤️
Happy-end garantat!🦋

It was everything I could have hoped for and then some! ❤ I knew from reading Villainous Kingpin that Dante DiLustro and Juliette Brennan would be a stellar couple with a must-read story, and I almost hate to admit it, but the months and months of waiting in anticipation was actually well-worth it.
Banter, intrigue, and heat, oh my! Chapter after chapter, their story got more and more juicy. Winners knows how to write a plot-thickening, character-driven swoon-fest, and this might just be in my top 3 all-time favourites from her interconnecting universe of dark, mafia, and billionaire romance series’.
I definitely went into this one with a preconceived idea of how their story will go, along with their interactions. But that fast dissipated as Winners dished out plot-twists, unsuspecting characters, and developments that got me in the feels.
Did I mention that this book had me giggling as well? A wise-ass remark here and there, constant familial banter, and amusing inner monologues added extra oomph to what was already a page-turning storyline.
I’m an avid dark mafia romance reader. It’s my favourite romance sub-genre, and Winners has a way of writing them that’s uniquely her own. Whilst I’m not quite up-to-date with her backlist yet, I have read enough to recognise a romance book written by her without having to look at the cover. The writing is in-depth, effortless to follow, and almost immediately paints the picture. There’s a certain repetitiveness in her books that I always find comforting and highly addictive.
Whilst you can read this as a standalone, I recommend starting from the beginning of the series to get the full-scope of Dante’s and Juliette’s world. It will also give insight on how they were introduced to one another.
Discovering Dante’s and Juliette’s backstories delved deeper than what was initially shared added another level of excitement and intrigue to the entire reading experience for me. Their connection was palpable and the turn of events between the two is something I’m still playing over in my head.
It contains dark themes that broaches on sensitive matters that some readers may find triggering or disturbing to read such as, child abuse, sexual assault, drugging, graphic violence, and death. Please take into consideration before starting. It’s intended for readers 18+ only.
Dante is probably THE sweetest, most caring, most thoughtful hero from the series (at least so far). He is such a contrast from the previous Kingpins of this series. With every effort made with Juliette I couldn’t help but fall hard for him. I guarantee Dante will have you smiling.
Juliette has grown so much as a character from the (prequel) Corrupted Pleasure that she’s become my favourite heroine. If I was to describe her character, I would say she’s a bit of an M&M chocolate with a soft, sweet centre and fragile outer shell that can chip and crack but ultimately still holds itself together.
It’s fast-paced storytelling told from dual perspectives, and has so much heart and soul in it that’ll have you emotionally and mentally invested from start to finish. I honestly didn’t want this book to end. The only reason why I’m somewhat coping is because I know they’ll make appearances in following books of the series. I love the friendships and familial bonds displayed. There’s a real sense of love, support, and protectiveness amongst the cast of characters, even crossover characters who make minor appearances provide some form of support system for these MCs.
It’s not overly gritty and with both MCs in their twenties, it can be considered NA romance. Dante and Juliette are two truly lovable, emotional characters. Their romance is slow-burn, and understandably so. But more so it made it all the more genuine to see their relationship evolve. If you like mafia romances with an enemies-to-lovers and/or a stalker romance trope, add it to your TBR.
I can’t fault this one. It’s aces in book! I will undoubtedly read it time and time again.
💓𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲: 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 💭I have to say, I loved this book even more than the first one! We already got some hints about Juliette and Dante's story from the previous book, and their story basically kicks off at the same time. Dante was instantly smitten with Juliette the moment he saw her stealing from his club. Juliette wanted nothing to do with him, so what did he do? He asked her father for her hand in marriage, which she also refused. And so began their cat-and-mouse game over two years. Dante finally loses his patience and comes up with an even more outrageous plan to make her his, something he didn't realize would be a cardinal sin in Juliette's eyes...
Juliette is such a bad-ass bitch, she's as wild and unhinged as Dante, and I absolutely live for that. I adore her feistiness, she handles her enemies as ruthlessly as any mafia man. When I learned about her traumatic past, my heart broke for her, and it was so satisfying to see her take down the people who had wronged her.
Dante, oh Dante, you poor dumb-ass man. Can you blame him? (Yes, you can, I was mad too.) He had been pining for Juliette even longer than we knew. Their pasts couldn't be more intertwined. What did he do? Something absolutely unforgivable, so Juliette's reaction was completely justified. But the way he tried to make it up to her brought tears to my eyes. His letters! I was sobbing during the scene when she read them. Who knew this ruthless mafia man could write such touching words?
I just adore their relationship. Dante and Juliette are the ultimate power couple. Dante worships her like the goddess she is, utterly obsessed and unwilling to let her go even when he knows he should. He didn't back down, and his efforts to win her back were fantastic! This is hands down one of my favorite mafia romances this year!
🎧𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄🎧 Aaron absolutely nails it once again as the unhinged, sexy mafia man! His voice is just so captivating, he’s got that perfect mix of charisma and edge that brings Dante to life. And Mackenzie as Juliette? She's a total firecracker! She perfectly captures Juliette's feisty spirit while also showing her vulnerable side beautifully. I had such an amazing time with this audiobook!

Devious Kingpin is the second book in the Kingpins of the Syndicate Series. It’s a standalone so no need to read the first book to be able to understand everything (highly recommend the first book anyway;))
This book is about Dante and Juliette. While Dante is the Kingpin of the Las Vegas Syndicate. Juliette is the daughter of the head of the Irish mafia. Both meet for the first time when Juliette and her friends try to rob Dante’s casino. Dante’s becomes attracted to Juliette who not only has a lot of secrets to hide but revenge to deliver and no interest for Dante. At least that’s what she tells herself.
From the first scene on this book got me hooked and I had a hard time putting it down. Dante and Juliette are fire. Not only as a couple but as individual characters as well. I love that we got Dante as stubborn character but still when he screws up, he grovels and does everything in his power to make it right and never denies he screwed up. With Juliette I love her strong sides but her soft ones maybe even more. I love females characters who are strong in their own way but have this vulnerable side and are not afraid to show to it, at least with their partner. Her character was so lovely and I think she is one of my favourites from Eva so far. My heart bleed for her throughout the book.
The scrunchie scenes were everything. And I loved every single scene Priest was in. His book is the one I’m must excited for. Especially because of Ivy as well. There were a few things about her in this book I wanted to know more about and how she will react to it.
This is a solid 5 star read for me. It was more of a slow burn enemies to lovers and if those tropes speak to you, I think you will love this book. I have read a few series by Eva Winners now and have to say that I love her couples, stories and writing a lot.

>Romance oscuro. >Mafia.
¿Amé a Dante? Absolutamente enamorada…
I am addicted to this authors stories! Her mafia series are elite they are absolutely my favorite go to when I’m craving the mafia trope ! I really loved Juliette and Dante’s story Dante is so freaking amazing his love for Juliette never wavered his loyalty I loved the fact he wasn’t afraid to admit or show his feelings for her he was unapologetically obsessed with her he is the whole package! Juliette is probably one of my favorite heroines from this author she is strong sassy and absolutely wild and I love her strength her loyalty and beneath her tough exterior she does have a soft heart that she only lets those that are worthy into my heart absolutely broke for what she went through her and Dante were perfection together. I loved seeing some characters from other books in this world I love the banter between all the guys and girls this really is a phenomenal series! I one hundred percent recommend and you can read this as a stand-alone these books are filled with the perfect amount of angst steam and darkness and I am forever a fan !
I couldn’t wait to read Dante and Juliette’s story! I got a glimpse of them in book one and it did not disappoint❤️Dante’s loyalty and love for Juliette is amazing! This man waited for her for 2 years while she fought him the whole time. I didn’t blame her for her hesitation though, she was traumatized at such a young age and didn’t trust men at all…I loved how Dante was so patient with her and understood what she needed to be able to be intimate again!🥰I loved how badass Juliette was, this girl could kick ass and she was out for revenge for what happened to her😈So happy to have a strong female lead! Dante may have screwed up in how he finally got Juliette(drugged her to get her to marry him)but he had no idea of her past trauma at the time otherwise he would have never have done it that way! She was devastated 💔when the truth finally came out but Dante was NOT letting her go. He was going to prove his love for her and he was perfect! No OW drama🙌🏻 Celibate hero (he waited for her for 2 years)
Dante & Juliette. Cousins of the previous couple of the series. I wasn’t really fond of the FMC because she seemed unnecessarily rude. But she was strong, no doubt.
Dante, on the other hand, well… What he did was veeery wrong. But. He knew it. He recognized it. He felt guilty and sorry. And he was a stalker, so everything’s forgiven 😜 There was some grovel to make up for Dante’s behaviour, could be a little more perhaps, but I wasn’t disappointed. I just wanted it to last a bit longer I guess.
This is a slow-burn story, with both heroes having experienced different kinds of traumas. I liked the way they handled it, especially Juliette and how much Dante tried to help her.
The flow was nice, there were some unnecessary repetitions to explain the various relationships though, way too many times.
