Sophie’s life hasn’t turned out quite the way she expected, and she’s struggling to make ends meet and raise her daughter. She’s shocked when a stranger shows up with her parents and announces she isn’t who she thought she was.
When an apparent accident claims the last heir of the King of St. Michel, Luc is charged with bringing Sophie safely to St. Michel to meet her grandfather and, perhaps, take her rightful place in the royal family. He doesn’t expect to like Sophie, which makes him even more determined to protect Sophie and her daughter.
Sophie isn’t sure she’s cut out for life as a royal, but she does want to get to know her grandfather. Can she fit into a new life? Can Luc protect both Sophie and her daughter?
I love how Sophie doesn’t change to fit into her new life, instead works to make her new life fit her life. I also enjoyed the little bit of mystery as Luc tries to uncover whether past accidents are truly that, or if someone is trying to clear a path to the throne. This was a fun quick read, so grab a spot, curl up, and dive in.
