What if your ordinary life was the beginning of an extraordinary destiny?
Sophie Baldwin once believed in fairy tales—princesses, castles, and happily-ever-afters. But at thirty-something, reality looks nothing like a storybook. Divorced, juggling two jobs, and raising a teenage daughter, she’s doing her best to stay afloat.
Then Luc, a mysterious—and undeniably handsome—stranger from the kingdom of St. Michel, arrives on her doorstep and everything changes.
Swept into a life of secrets, scandal, and royalty, Sophie discovers long-buried family secrets that upend everything she thought she knew. As danger shadows her every step, she confronts shocking betrayals, suspicious accidents, and enemies she never expected.
Now Sophie must make an impossible hold tight to the life she’s built… or risk everything for the chance at a new beginning. Could this be her chance to rewrite her story—and claim the love and happily-ever-after she thought she’d never find?
Because being a princess isn’t about the crown. It’s about finding the courage to rule your own life.

I loved this story. I could totally relate to Sophie. Being a case worker in NC, divorced and single parent, she was going through life as we all do. It was easy to slide into the story and see it just as it was occurring. When Luc appears, a stranger shows up with her parents and announces she isn’t who she thought she was.
When an apparent accident claims the last heir of the King of St. Michel, Luc is charged with bringing Sophie safely to St. Michel to meet her grandfather and, perhaps, take her rightful place in the royal family. This is one of those whaaa moments, A total possible change to her life. Sophie and Luc have great chemistry. Isn't it great when you realize you and totally trust someone? He doesn’t expect to like Sophie, which makes him even more determined to protect Sophie and her daughter.
Sophie doesn’t change who she is as she navigates her way into the royal life. Unfortunately there is someone in the wings that would try and use Sophie for their own gains. and A touch of mystery as Luc tries to uncover whether past accidents are truly that, or if someone is trying to clear a path to the throne. It's a great feeling because I found myself rooting for Sophie and Luc. Fantastic moment when all is revealed. You have got to experience life in St. Michel by reading this book!
Sophie’s life hasn’t turned out quite the way she expected, and she’s struggling to make ends meet and raise her daughter. She’s shocked when a stranger shows up with her parents and announces she isn’t who she thought she was. When an apparent accident claims the last heir of the King of St. Michel, Luc is charged with bringing Sophie safely to St. Michel to meet her grandfather and, perhaps, take her rightful place in the royal family. He doesn’t expect to like Sophie, which makes him even more determined to protect Sophie and her daughter. Sophie isn’t sure she’s cut out for life as a royal, but she does want to get to know her grandfather. Can she fit into a new life? Can Luc protect both Sophie and her daughter? I love how Sophie doesn’t change to fit into her new life, instead works to make her new life fit her life. I also enjoyed the little bit of mystery as Luc tries to uncover whether past accidents are truly that, or if someone is trying to clear a path to the throne. This was a fun quick read, so grab a spot, curl up, and dive in. Thanks to the publisher for the chance to read an advanced copy. All opinions are my own and freely given.
Sophie was a hard-working single (divorced) mother…until Luc shows up and breaks the news to her that not only are her parents not really her parents, she is actually a princess and her grandfather, the King, needs her to step up and be the rightful heir to the throne. This was a nice, sweet story. Some mystery, some romance, and some excitement. Sophie was a great character. She didn’t just blindly trust Luc, and she didn’t just blindly dive in with both feet to a completely different life. I was rooting for her the entire story, while also wondering if I would have been able to handle the news as well as she did. Luc was also a great character. He took his job as bodyguard/security very seriously. And although he wanted to do what was right for St Michael and the line of succession, he wasn’t going to push or bully Sophie into anything she wasn’t comfortable with.
Holy WOW is what comes to my mind about this fascinating story. This story is a true Cinderella story. It hanged Sophia and her daughter lives completely around. A life and family that Sophia knew nothing about. This story will keep you on your toes due to the heartbreaking tragedies that has taken place and figuring out who caused it. Nancy you absolutely did a fantastic job telling this story. I can wait to see what she has in store for her readers next.
Sophie was a hard worker as a case worker until Luc shows up to tell her she a Princess of St. Michel. She goes to check it out with her daughter & parents who adopted her. Someone in the council wants to become King so they try to kill her. Luc saves her & the King.
Nancy has written another cozy mystery. I'm looking forward the second in the series & recommend this story & series.
This books has Princess Diary vibes but as a grown adult. The story was thorough until about the last 1/4 of the book and then I felt like it was rushed.
I did like Sophie and Luc’s characters but I just finished feeling like I needed more from the story.
I think most little girls dream of being a princess but for Sophie and Savannah the dream becomes a reality. This is a fun, easy read with a little intrigue to keep the story flowing. I loved the way Luc and Sophie loves seems so natural, leading to a nice happily ever after!!
An enjoyable cute story. It will completely suck you in from the start and keeps you hooked with some mystery. I loved the characters, the connection and the undeniable chemistry. I loved the storyline. It’s a fun and entertaining read.
This is a nice entertaining read. I appreciate the light hearted humor and romance. Grab a cup of coffee and snuggle up with this book in front of a fire.
