Too few people know about Rob Sinclair, and that is a travesty. He churns out quality thrillers at an absurd rate, and none of them suck. In Angel of Death, James Ryker is after the terrorist known as The Kingmaker—a real turd of a human. Also searching for the Kingmaker is an assassin whose lethality matches Ryker's—two hunters after a single prey, but for different reasons. Ryker seeks justice; the other is after something more—biblical.

The James Ryker series I believe is one of the best espionage thriller series there is out there, and I have been a fan since book one. An ex-intelligence agent, Ryker provides the reader with everything you could wish for in a character that lives life on the edge. He is highly intelligent, ruthless, loyal and has suffered great traumas in his life, but as the books progress and we learn more about him, he is also incredibly human and relatable.

Each book is chocked full of action and suspense and the latest ‘Angel of Death’ is no different. Here Sinclair presents us with some fabulous characters, a deadly terrorist Ismail Karaman who creates fear and destruction wherever he goes but seems to be bullet proof while maintaining his affluent lifestyle while committing appalling crimes. But now he will have to rise to a new challenge and face up to a fearful nemesis named the ‘Angel of Death’, a former agent who Karaman has left a never-ending mark on, destroying her family and left her rotting in a Lebanese prison.

So now Karaman has two incredibly highly trained targets on his back, both Ryker and a woman who is thirsty for revenge, these are two people you certainly do not want to mess with but for the reader, we are about to be highly entertained. As always, I opened the first page of the book and was then unable to put it down and finished this in the early hours of this morning. So many twists and turns will keep you glued to the pages and if you are looking for action you will not be disappointed. The suspense is palpable throughout and the fast moving and complex plot ensures that this book will be another winner for Rob Sinclair.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions expressed are my own.

An action-packed thriller featuring James Ryker as he investigates and hunts down members of the Syndicate. The Syndicate is a shadowy organization with ultra-rich people controlling world affairs for their own gains. Of course, aside from Ryker, not many people believe the Syndicate exists. Along the way, he meets Angel, an ex-Special Forces soldier who was betrayed and therefore spent years unjustly imprisoned.
This is my first time reading this author's work, even though this is not the first book of the Ryker series. It's enjoyable and fast-paced, as books in this genre are expected to be. Personally, I am more intrigued with the character of Angel than Ryker. My main gripe is that the ending came too quickly, especially after all the hurdles and challenges the MC's had to go through throughout the book. But overall, still a very good introduction to a new-to-me author.

I'm not always a fan of novels about terrorists, but this one kept my attention riveted throughout as the action never stops! It begins with "The Kingmaker" being tortured by protagonist, James Ryker--an ex-intelligence officer. Then we meet Angel who is targeting "Alpha." In present day we see Ryker in London as he's breaking into a high-rise apartment. It's wonderfully-convoluted tale of espionage, "the syndicate," and terrorism as Ryker and Angel begin working together; and although there is graphic violence, it moves along at break-neck speed and only let's you take a full breath at the end! Whew!

James Ryker is determined to do good from now on. He may need to do bad things to save lives, but he won't just kill for the sake of it - each life has to be weighed on his own morality sales before he'll take action. Of course, sometimes the bad guys won't give him that time, so he'll act first and sort out the rest later!

Ryker is a man with a past. He's lost his way slightly - no wife, no real job, just taking assignments from Winter. Karaman is someone who really needs to be taken out but Ryker might just have a rival.

Angel has also lost everything - her husband, her daughter, her job, her freedom. Even her sobriety. When a mysterious new guest arrives at her wellness retreat, he offers her the chance to get her revenge on the man she holds responsible for all her troubles. But that puts her in direct
competition with Ryker.

Ryker is determined, stubborn and loyal. Angel is traumatised, talented and has a burning, endless well of vengeance inside her. These two make a pretty deadly team but can they actually sustain the teamwork for any length of time. Those personalities and agendas are going to be clashing!

There is so much double dealing and murky politics going on, you're never really sure who is on which side. The interwoven story of the secret organisation which may or may not be pulling strings in the background ties everything together. There were a few expletives sounded through the reading of this book. Some of these characters really deserved their unaliving!

There are plenty of plot-twists and the action zips around the world so you really get caught up in the adventure and suspense.

Twelve books in, and you would expect the story to be wearing a little. Nope! I don't think Rob Sinclair knows how to stop. I haven't read every book in the series, but I have read quite a few, and every time I start a new instalment, the quality is still top-notch.

If you want an adrenaline inducing and entertaining read, Angel of Death should be perfect! It's told from Ryker and Angel's perspectives through alternating chapters. I enjoy this type of storytelling so much. It makes the story so engrossing! And I think seeing two sides of the same story gives the reader a tantalising overall view.

Action packed and exhilarating with the expected violence that always comes as part of a plotline such as this. Ryker is always good to take my mind off the real world for as long as it takes me to read it. With a bit of everything, this is a book that will appeal to any readers who enjoy thrillers.

Another Ryker cracker

Storyline continued Ryker's quest to unveil the sinister and shady syndicate, really enjoyed it. One star deducted for the use of Americanisms in a BRITISH story.

In this gutsy, violent and enjoyable thriller Angel of Death, fans of clandestine espionage novels are in for a real treat in this riveting page-turner that segues from the Middle East to London, as James Ryker seeks out violent terrorist Ismail Karaman, a man who lives a very high profile life, is apparently untouchable, but is the head of a violent terrorist organisation known as The Syndicate.
Angel, known as the Angel of Death, is a former SIS operative whose life has been systematically destroyed by Karaman. She blames him and the corruption within the SIS for her demise into hard drugs and alcoholism, the loss of her husband and her daughter. She is not allowed to see her daughter and her husband has remarried.
She is recruited through a Health Retreat she attends as part of her rehabilitation program, to find and kill Karaman. But right from the beginning, although she is has agreed to be part of the three-person team for the money as well as the revenge, she feels something is not quite right.
Ryker is on the same trajectory; to find and eliminate Karaman once and for all. His first attempt goes terribly wrong, which once again sees him languishing in gaol, needing to be rescued by a clandestine arm of the Home Office. The person that arrives to release him is someone he never thought to see in the 'field' and makes him wonder just how far the tentacles of the Syndicate spread.
After this debacle Ryker has decided he is better on his own, but finds himself having to rescue Angel from a murderous firefight, Karaman having escaped once again. As they have the same objective, they join forces to get the job done; to even the score and settle old debts.
It is a moot point as to who is the more violent, Angel or Ryker, as they work their way across Europe to take on the man himself on home turf. But will they succeed?
Fast paced and thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, the twelfth book in the James Ryker Series from Rob Sinclair, will have you in the action until the bitter end. What will Ryker take on next in his bid to make the world a better place? Time will tell!

This is the 12th book in The James Ryker Series and this one works very well as a standalone. I have not read all of these but this one is fast-paced from start to finish.

James Ryker is a pain in the proverbial for his sort of boss Winter and this is a constant in this story. While Ryker is good at what he does, he is also very focused on trying to pin down the Syndicate, a group that he believes runs countries, politics, and business and will do anything to keep their power and money. Ryker finds out that there is more at play than just what he is being told.

Ismail Karaman is on the most wanted list but seems to be able to come and go as he pleases. Ryker wants him as he may be the ticket to getting more info on the syndicate. He is not the only one who wants him, Angel wants him and she wants him to suffer for how he ruined her life.

This is definitely one for fans of the Reacher style of book and I can see why this James Ryker has been likened to him. Ryker is a moody, Bond/ Reacher character but with some sense of right and wrong, but he is blinded by his focus on the syndicate and Karaman. Angel coming along causes problems but she is only the start of the problems.

In the world of espionage, politics, power and money there is never going to be complete trust and this becomes more and more obvious as the story weaves its way around Europe. The story is tense and dramatic and I could pretty much visualise this as I was reading the book, the author has a great way of describing things and setting the scene, painting the picture and with his characters.

There is some violence as you would expect and this is all in keeping with the story, it is on point and works so well within the context.

This is a fast book, it doesn't let up and there are some brilliant dramatic scenes. This is one for fans of crime, thriller, action and adventure books and one I would definitely recommend.

Rob Sinclair (https://www.robsinclairauthor.com) is the author of more than 20 novels. Angel of Death was published last October and it is the 12th novel in his James Ryker series. It is the 89th book I completed reading in 2024.

I received an ARC of this book through https://www.netgalley.com with the expectation of a fair and honest review. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own! Due to scenes of violence and mature language, I categorize this novel as R.

This story has two main characters: James Ryker and Angela ‘Angel’ Everett. Ryker is a former intelligence agent who has fallen out with the establishment but still takes on contracts with SIS. He is effective, but his methods and attitude do not sit well with the establishment.

Everett was a sniper in the British Army and earned the nickname Angel of Death. Following the Army, she was part of special operations for MI-6. Everett was abandoned by SIS and imprisoned in Lebanon after a young girl is accidentally shot. Since then, she has lost her family and suffered from guilt-induced substance abuse. She is now out on parole, but struggling with life.

Ismail Karaman is a well-known terrorist who has been on the UK’s most wanted list. Ryker takes on a mission to capture him and bring him back to the UK. The mission falls apart, but Karaman is arrested and brought to England.

While Everett is at a rehab facility, she is recruited to join a special ops team. Their goal is to break Karaman out of prison. That mission fails in large part due to Ryker, who happens to be at the prison at the time of the escape attempt. Karaman does escape, while Ryker and Everett are being sought by police in connection with the breakout.

Ryker and Everett join together to find Karaman. Both have their reasons to see him dead or at least the target of some serious interrogation. They must avoid the police while they pursue Karaman and the deadly bodyguards he how has.

I enjoyed the 9 hours I spent reading this 354-page thriller. I have had the opportunity to read one of Sinclair’s other novels The Bonds of Blood. It was a good read. While this novel had quite a bit of action, it seemed to plod along. Nor did I feel much of a connection to either of the main characters. I do like the chosen cover art. I give this novel a rating of 3.6 (rounded to 4) out of 5.

I read this a s a free review copy and this is an honest opinion of the book based on my reading it.

This is a thrilling addition to what is a long drawn James Ryker series, packed with action, suspense, and unpredictable twists. In this installment, Ryker, the protagonist faces his most dangerous mission yet, involving deadly terrorist activities, hidden agendas, and a web of secrets that keeps readers on edge. Rob Sinclair crafts a gripping tale filled with tension, unexpected turns, and character development.

The story starts quickly, throwing Ryker into a world of espionage, vengeance, and covert operations. Ryker is a compelling character—smart, determined, and skilled—but in the Angel of Death (as the name of the book states), he meets his match with another complex and multifaceted character. Rob seems to excel at creating unpredictable characters whose motives often remain unclear, or in the background, adding depth and intrigue to the narrative. Every time you think you know where the story is headed, he successfully seems to pull the rug out from under you with a well-timed twist.

The pacing is nice, with action-packed sequences and moments of intense suspense that make it impossible to put the book down. I have become a fan of Rob’s talent for building tension which is evident throughout, and the book's unpredictable nature will keep readers hooked from start to finish. If you're a fan of espionage thrillers with high stakes and intricate plots, Angel of Death will not disappoint.
I have discovered a new series to read and significant backlog to complete.

I’m a big fan of the authors and the character James Ryker. As readers the character is well established so what else can the author offer up?

Well… that opening certainly shut me up. It’s action and suspense from the off as we meet Angel.. a fascinating and wonderfully smart kickass agent. The issue is she’s broken.. and the object that caused all the trouble.. Ismail Karaman.

Ismail Karaman is a terrorist on the loose but his time may have come when Ryker gets hold of him.

It was never going to be easy though was it? Ryker has is own reasons for wanting Karaman brought to justice as he looks close to home for corruption but who really is Karaman… and who holds the purse strings really?

Angel and Ryker collide at pace and boy are they good together. I’m not going to spoil it but I loved the injection of energy Angel brought to the table.

We get to travel the world a little and there’s lots of action to keep the junkies happy.

Ryker hasn’t mellowed with age.. but he’s smarter because of it and Angel of Death gave the author the chance to explore that, as he tries to curb the energy of others… even as those in charge try to curb Ryker too… do as I say, not as I do ha.

If possible I felt this one was more gut wrenching than any other, the plot and character depth sold as a rock, allowing you to effortlessly become invested.. but in typical Rob Sinclair style.. death comes for us all and this one left a little hole.. it took a little piece of me with it.. powerful and emotional.. sublime!

If a potential reader is looking to keep their adrenaline nimble, this book could be a good choice. I found enough action, mystery and murder to give me a good thrill. In the twists and turns you'll meet Ryker and Angel - almost like cookie cutter replicas of each other.

Clandestine meetings, super rich folks and people in power, the key to much of the action. And is the Syndicate actually real? The intrigue kept the pages turning for me. Some potential readers may like to be cautioned regarding some of the more imitmate scenes as well as for some of the violence involved. Other than these aspects, I felt that author Rob Sinclair crafted a noteworthy narrative.

Ryker is on a mission. One that will help (he hopes) do damage to the omnipresent and omnipotent Syndicate. He’s after one man, a man who will give him answers. But nothing is simple in Ryker’s world and his initial mission goes a bit Pete Tong. But that never sets him back, he just gets a new plan.

But this time, he encounters someone who has the same end game as him but for a different reason. That someone reminded me a lot of Ryker himself. Someone who doesn’t trust easily. Someone who is screwed over. Someone who’s lost a loved one. Unsurprisingly they clash!!!

Sinclair has written a cracking action packed addition to the Ryker series. My handsome rugged hero is put through the mill again, fighting for what’s right by whatever means necessary – some of those means made me grimace. I was glued to my kindle as Ryker was chasing his target around the world. There were gasps and hands flying to the mouth as events spilled out of my kindle before me!

Book 6 in the James Ryker Series and Ryker is still desperately trying to track down The Syndicate. This time, working with his colleague/handler the target is terrorist Ismail Karaman. Karaman is an extremely wealthy Middle Eastern who Ryker believes is head of the secretive organisation.

Briefly, Karaman had survived an attempt at capture by an SIS agent Angel some years before. Angel had been caught and imprisoned in Beirut. Now embittered and looking for revenge she is after blood. So the Ryker and Angel find themselves with the same target. What can possibly go wrong? Well, simply everything as the word “trust” flies out the window as bullets come the other way.

Ryker is a great character, former intelligence agent, he is loyal and honest but also ruthless. Fast paced, some graphic violence and an explosive and fatal climax this is a shocking and exciting page turner.

Angel of Death is the 12th book in the James Ryker series and a very entertaining read.

I've only read one previous book in the series, and I found this one to be a much slicker and more engaging read with our two main characters, Ryker and Angel, alternating points of view. It's quite a globe-trotter, although much of the action takes place in the UK, but a UK told very much through American eyes (and with US spelling)- including gas stations and quite a few handguns. That said, the narrative is good enough for these things to pass me by with only a slight chuckle as the action ramps up.

Ryker is as violent as in the previous book, but he might just have met his match in Angel of Death.

This is a really solid read, sure to appeal to fans of the genre and those looking for an action-packed thriller.

This is the latest in the James Ryker series but it also reads well as a a standalone. This is an action packed, suspense filled thriller. Ryker, a former intelligence agent, is once again working undercover in the search for Ismail Karaman known as the Kingmaker. He is a known terrorist and Ryker believes he is working within a syndicate of political leaders for financial gain and extreme power. During the search Ryker encounters another former special agent, Angel, who had previously tried unsuccessfully to take Karaman out. Together they are a potent force.
This is a really well written book which is fast paced and as stated earlier full of action. Ryker has his own unique way of gaining information and goes in where it hurts. His main issue is knowing who to trust.
Once you start reading this book you'll not be able to put it down.

I have read a few of Rob Sinclair's books which I have thoroughly enjoyed but this is the first in this series however, despite this being book 12, I think it works well as a standalone and I certainly got to grip with the characters pretty quickly although realise there is an awful lot I have missed.

With fantastic characters, an excellent plot, loads of action, suspense and thrills and all written at a great, fast pace, this is a really good action/adventure/spy/thriller so will appeal to many. There are violent scenes but only what you would expect for this type of book and nothing that is over the top ... well I didn't think so.

Excellent book that I thoroughly enjoyed and many thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of this, another excellent book from Rob Sinclair.

Angel of Death by Rob Sinclair is the 12th book in The James Ryker Series. This has been a series I have not really followed. However, I really enjoyed the books I have read. This one was no different - I really enjoyed it especially as it was full of action throughout with lots of twists and turns that will have you wanting to find out what happens next.

James Ryker is investigating and hunts down members of the Syndicate, not many people believe that the Syndicate even exists, but, James knows all about the Syndicate - they are a shadowy organisation who are full of mega rich people and controlling the world affairs only for their own gains and nothing else!
James meets a lot of people along the way some are good and some are bad, but he has to keep his wits about him.

I really enjoyed this book and will be going back to read more of James Ryker.

This is the 12th book in the James Ryker Series, but can easily be read as a standalone. It is a high octane espionage thriller which does not let its pace drop once.

Opening with an eye-wincing interrogation, Ryker is soon on the tail of The Syndicate & a deadly terrorist, Ismail Karaman. Unfortunately for the latter, he has another disgruntled ex-services after him & she blames him entirely for her downward spiral in life & her time in a Lebanese hell-hole of a prison.

Fast paced, brutal in places &, yet, highly entertaining & enjoyable. Twists & turns all over the place, I think I saw myself come back again! And who to trust? What a massive question & one that will only be answered if you read this brilliant book.

"Angel of Death" by Rob Sinclair was an action packed story that takes you in a wild adventure. This book keeps you guessing and you don't want to put it down so you can figure out who did it.
James Ryker is on a mission to find out who runs a crime syndicate. He will stop at nothing to find out who is the top person. He calls on old colleagues to help him find a person that might hold the answers he seeks.
Angel wants revenge on the man that ruined her life. She lost everything and wants to get her life back. When the chance comes up to get back at the man she takes it. Ryker and Angel team up to find out the answers.
Highly recommend to readers on action books.

I’ve not read any of the rest of this series, this being book 12, but I really enjoyed this one. If you’re a fan of Jack Reacher or any “rogue but gets it done” agents, you’ll love this one.

Ryker has what seems to be no luck throughout this one - beaten, imprisoned, tortured, you name it. But as much as this is going on, he does get answers and finds his target. He also meets Angel, who we meet at the start, and he (and me!) really likes her. He sees a kindred spirit in her, they’re definitely two of a kind, that’s for certain! We meet some interesting characters along the way too, Winters for one. Even now the book is over, I’m still not sure we found out all we needed to about him.

I will be searching for more in this series, this was a great standalone and a really good intro to Ryker I think.

In Angel of Death, former intelligence agent Ryker takes center stage in a high-stakes battle of wits and survival. As he faces off against the wealthy terrorist Ismail Karaman, a chilling antagonist with a trail of crimes, Ryker is joined by the "Angel of Death," a vengeful former agent who has her own score to settle.

Full of action, suspense, and unexpected twists, this fast-paced thriller keeps you on edge from start to finish. After reading this, I’m hooked and now need to dive into the rest of the series!

An absolutely unputdownable book. Rob Sinclair at his best, writes great stories that keeps the readers interest. When the book is put down and picked up later the story is still there, in your mind, you pick it up where you left off. Sign of a great story teller in my opinion. Losing yourself in a book is great medicine. Roll on the next one but still digesting Angel of Death. Phew!
