Jade put her dreams on hold for love once and it was a mistake she vows to never repeat. It’s time for her to enter her boss era. The only thing that remains on Jade’s mind is building her net worth and looking good while doing it. If it’s not about the next big business deal, then it doesn’t belong in Jade’s world.
Growing up in Philly, Tate knew there were few paths for him to take. He could follow after his brother and friends, getting sucked into the streets, or he could work hard and find another escape route. Tate eventually finds his way, choosing to work tirelessly at chasing and achieving his dreams. Yet, even with a humble mindset and a go hard grind ethic, he finds himself in a situation where things begin to disintegrate before his eyes. He’s not built to be quitter, so Tate is prepared to do any and everything before he gives up the one thing he loves.
Jade and Tate both choose business over pleasure, but when the waters get murky, seemingly easy decisions suddenly become difficult. Dreams can come true and dreams can change. But what happens when the mind and the heart aren’t on the same page?

Dough Dreams Literally the perfect title for a story with a little sugar and spice and everything nice in it. Characters were strong, standing on bidness, with humor, charm, and warmth overflowing.
Choices is the name of the game and sometime we choose wrong, but a Philly Cheese and a handsome man was definitely the right choice for Jade, an acquisition’s mogul who gave up one life for a more promising and satisfying one acquiring failing businesses while helping the owners in the process when she meets Tate, a business owner sadly struggling to hold onto his bakery and in risk of loosing his dreams and his dough.
I loved the characters chemistry, Tate’s smooth Philly tongue and the authors implementation of real life struggles after Covid. Their chemistry and interactions were intoxicating, emotional and I feel in love with their journey to an ending that was pleasantly surprising.
Dough Dreams is a sexy hot read that will satisfy that sweet tooth down low making you wanna lick your lips and go get a cream puff or summin. Dive into this adorable story; it's a treat you won't want to miss.
I'll round up to 3, but this is more of a 2.5 for me. The chemistry between Jade and Tate was lacking. While I enjoyed the climax of the story, the reconciliation between Jade and Tate felt underwhelming, even with the bakery scene. I understand the intent behind that scene, but it felt unnecessary. After six months apart, I expected more conversation and development, rather than jumping right back to where things left off.
Honestly, IMO, Tate's reaction seemed a bit over the top to me. While his upset feelings were justified, I think his pride may have caused him to overreact.
I enjoyed getting to know Jade and Tate individually, but as a couple, they didn’t leave a lasting impression.
I'm a fan of Shay Davis, so I'll definitely continue exploring her catalog, but this one fell a bit flat for me.
4.5✨ “Dough Dreams” came to fruition when Tate, who grew up in Philly, was surrounded by those who only wanted to chase money. He wanted that also but wanted to be legit. Tate was at a crossroads with his bakery business and was on the verge of closing. Unfortunately, that happens to small business owners chasing their entrepreneurial dreams – and dealing with financial burdens. I found Tate’s story to be very realistic. On the other side, Jade dealt with a heartbreaking situation that resulted in her moving home and reclaiming her life. She was chasing her bag and was not in the market for dating or interested in a relationship. The first few encounters were due to circumstance, but it was clear that there was chemistry between Tate and Jade. Their easy banter and spicy scenes were satisfying, and I was intrigued to see how things would unfold for them. There’s a slight issue - Jade owns a company that saves businesses, such as the one that Tate owned. You’ll have to read to see if business and pleasure can coexist. I enjoyed this book immensely!
I fell in love with Shay Davis with The Marriage Contract and took a deep dive in her catalog. But, after meeting her a few times, not only was I in love with her writing, but she's a dope human. I love how most of her relates to Philly somehow. Even if you are not from there the sland words, street name or places make you feel like you have been there and bisited that area. Dough Dreams did not disappoint. Dough Dreams described so well I feel like I've been there. This chance romance is so refreshing, funny, sexy and humbling in a way. Both characters do a beautiful dance of knowing when to lead or be lead after life gives them life changing events, BUT LOVE... love will make you rethink what you thought and what you deserve. Jade and Tate's story is worth the read. I crused it in one day. It could have been a little longer, but I'm a little bias. Hopefully there is a book 2 because I can't wait to meet the woman that turns Jackson's world upside down.
Dough Dreams by Shay Davis is a Sweet Romantic Story. In Honor of DD the way i would describe this book is like a perfectly baked pound cake. Jade was the little rough crumbly crest. While Tate is the moist sweet middle. Just a delicious combination spice, sweet, and drama.
I really wanted to like this book, it’s nice to see a female on her ish this time. I liked that Tate wasn’t so broke or broken that he couldn’t stand on his own. I really wanted to see what happened and how she helped save his business. But OMGGGG I’m 45% into this book and besides the sex scene every chapter is a repeat of each person’s last chapter. She still talking about never falling in love again and only being about money and he’s still grappling about his business. Ok we get it she’s a “beast” at her job and his business is going out of business. She never wants to fall in love again because she’s only about her money and he welcomes her distractions. Ok this doesn’t not have to be said over and over again. The book got boring real fast, I would have liked to see what happened with the ex and the divorce. We could’ve even thrown a little drama in there, but 45% into the book and they still don’t even know each other’s businesses. I’m sorry I thought if I skipped as many pages as I could that I would finally get there, but no I’m still not there yet. Now I don’t care to even know for real so I’m not gone finish. Maybe I’ll come back and try again after I finish the other books I have.
First off, my Neefy Pooh made an appearance, so this book was bound to be a hit 😏. Now.... Shay Davis is back and my girl did her big one yet again! This book was really good, and for once, none of the characters tapped on my nerves ok... they didn’t tap too long😂 The way this couple handled each other was both positive and negative. I feel they needed to get themselves together before starting up because a lot of things could’ve been avoided. Although I didn’t agree with some of their movements, their growing adoration for one another was a sexy yet beautiful thing to see because you know they got it in😝 The way Tate handled Jade was everything! Even in the worst situations, I was ready to give in as if I was there, so I give Jade her props for standing strong… or trying to. I understood why Jade was all about work because the beginning of this book was a lot. However, my girl could've moved a little better. Now that we have a HEA, I would love to see if Jackson and Cassidy get a book because those two together would be epic!
Ms. Davis, it's been a while since I have cracked open one of your works of art. When I saw the title of the book, I thought it was going to read in a totally different light. I was thinking it was going to give me that Hallmark movie vibe. However, Jade decided to level up her life after Joseph betrayed her. Her "come up" was empowering to the small businesses and community that surrounded her. It was also a major assist for Tate, although his business was failing Jade's decision saved it. Tate and Jade encountered in the bookstore was the pivot they both needed in their life. Jade yearned for true love, and Tate provided it. They were each other helpmate without intention. The love that developed between the two of them stood the test of time.
Readers, this is a good read that has plenty of twists and turns. It's going to surprise you as you read each chapter. Download or purchase your copy today.
Jade was feeling the effects of her ex-husband and her best friend money over love. That's why she was giving Tate pieces of her. Tate was maintaining his work schedule. Jade knew it was going to be over with Tate if he ever found out, so she put it off a little longer. Cassidy told her to keep getting the sex and tell him afterwards. Tate was feeling like a complete failure that why he didn't want to tell Jade about his business. Jackson came through for Tate. Tate thought he was a drug dealer because Jackson hung around some shady characters, but he's legit. Tate told his mama he thinks he finally found the one. Jade finally broke down and told Tate she loves him. Tate said he didn't want tainted and he didn't want want it. He figured that she only said it because got caught. Tate is a proud man.I can't wait for Jackson to met his match.
I liked this a lot. Tate and Jade were cool. It took them a minute to get it together....well, Jade. But it was good once they did. Jade had a lot of healing to do bc her trust had really been betrayed in the worst way by her husband and childhood best friend.
It was nice for Haneef from Just Wanna Be Loved and JWBLToo was a little tie in at the end.
Shay Davis left enough things open for another book. I look forward to more of Jackson's story. Also, Cassidy could have a story...maybe she and Jackson could get together.
Lastly, what about Leesy? She wasn't mentioned attending the opening of DDII....and we never know if anything went down between her and Tate during the 6 month period before he and Jade got back together. Hmmmm.....

This was such a good book from beginning to end. Shay definitely knows how to tell a story and this one did not disappoint.
After the heartbreak Jade experienced from her marriage ending and how she started moving from then, her name seemed perfect for her because sis was definitely jaded. It was understandable considering she took a double blow when her marriage ended with losing a husband and a so-called best friend. I didn’t like how Jade seemed to let her anger control her and how she moved, but I could relate to her wanting to protect her heart. Then she meets Tate and their chemistry couldn’t be denied. I loved how he loved on her and was glad to see them to get their happily ever after.
This was a good read. Jade was delay a bad hand when it came to her husband and best friend. So, she shut her heart and became cold to all men. Tate was out here trying to prove that you could be more than a dope boy together money. He was on his tough season, with no way to fix it. Rate and Jade were both using each other as a distraction but it was quickly turning into more. Jade was wrong when she found out the truth she should’ve said something and Tate could’ve heard the explanation, instead of reacting first. Fate bought the back to each other and I’m so glad things worked out in the end !!
I love a realistic love story. I was hooked from the first page—I mean hanging on to every word. Jade definitely went through something traumatic, but made her pain make her money. Tate was like a great guy that needed a break. Their romance was entertaining and I found the secret between them to add in a bit of suspense—not a thriller way though. When all was revealed my heart broke for them and I patiently waited to see how they’d fix things. I was not disappointed at all. However, I do have one question. Will we be hearing from Jackson at some point? I felt like he had a story to tell.
Wow! I really enjoyed this read. the thing that drew me to this book was the beginning of the audiobook. It was so wild that I just had to continue. Shay Davis is a new to me author, but I will definitely be reading more from her. I love the way she writes the MMC Austin Tate. He has made it to my book boyfriend list for sure! The FMC Jade didn't annoy me, I actually loved her wittyness. The story was original for me and very entertaining. The banter in this was top tier, and I laughed out loud a lot. Overall, this was a near perfect read, and I'm glad I stumbled across it!
This book was soooooo good! Jade was a tough cookie, but it was understandable given her history with her ex. Tate was so patient and gentle with her. I loved that for her! She needed a gentle love to coax her out of her icy shell. I really felt her angst at her secret and I was so sad when it all blew up. But I agree with Tate that it was for the best in the end. Loved Jade's epilogue, that was such a sweet surprise. This was a great book!!!
Will a struggling business owner clash with an ambitious real estate mogul, creating a thrilling recipe for disaster—or will their unexpected connection whip up a sweet concoction of love?
This book really grabbed my attention from the start, and it just kept delivering surprises! I finished it in a day, and I bet you will too once you get your hands on it. The mix of angst and humor made it such a fun read; I’m sure any reader would enjoy it!
This is a story that had my single self pissed off. Why? Because why can't I ever run into men like the characters in these books? Then I wouldn't be single. LOL.
I loved the writing, flow and banter throughout this book. I listened on audible and the narrator was TOP NOTCH!
Without giving away the story... If there isn't anything I've learned from reading(or life), it's don't keep secrets.
Tate and Jade were interesting to read about. My petty self wanted Jade’s ex man and friend to see her accomplishments. I would have never thought of the 🐝to make the story a success. I love the way they met and the progress they made. Wonder what happened to Lessy? Great story.
I really really really enjoyed this! This was a really really good story! I hate that it's sat on my TBR for so long. this was my first read by this author and I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of her catalog.
This was a story about second chance love, forgiveness, entrepreneurship, the weight of the pandemic, so much. It was a really great story!
As usual, Ms. Davis knocked it out of the park with this one. Tate and Jade’s banter was hilarious and the little bit of drama mixed with the spice was chef’s kiss. I would love to see Jackson get a story. Well done!
I enjoyed this read from author Shay Davis. Tate and Jada had amazon chemistry. She was fighting hard not to catch feeling for him. Jade ended up falling in love but was harboring a secret that could make or break their relationship. 5 stars.
Dough Dreams was just that a dream come true. Jade learned people properties had a lot of meaning to them and her love for her man allowed her help him with his dream.
The beginning started off with a bang. It really helped show how Jade became the hardcore business woman she became. I was curious of how they could possibly work their way back to each other!
Another great book by you. I love all of your work you never ever disappoint me when it comes to writing because baby your pen game is strong. I so loved Tate and Jade I’m so glad that everything worked out for them.
I really enjoy the dynamic between Tate and Jade. The author did an excellent job developing each character and allowing us to make our own assumptions about how we felt about them. I still wonder if Lessy is hanging around somewhere, waiting to cause trouble.
I am a bit disappointed in Dough Dreams. This was an anticipated read that I purchased on my audible wishlist, and finally gave it a listen. Made it three hours in and I couldn’t go any further. Not a fan of the story or narration
