If you love inspirational contemporary romance with a dash of humor, you’ll love The Wedding Planner’s Predicament.
January 2024: Cleo Sands retires to Eden Cove to find herself. Decades of planning fairytale weddings for others, but never her own, have left her burnt-out on bridezillas and bouquets. Watching happily-ever-afters turn swiftly to happily-ever-nevers, she finds herself a bit bent out of shape … jaded … possibly even cynical, and less than impressed with God.
When a tiny house sparrow limps into her life, she seeks out the village vet, James Mack.
James has a problem. His globetrotting only child has met her match in Italy and wants a glamorous destination wedding in her dad’s hometown. Only there’s not much glamour going around in Eden Cove. Caught between reality and his deep love for the girl he raised single-handedly, he turns to Cleo for help.

The Wedding Planner's Predicament by Dianne J. Wilson
Dianne J. Wilson writes across genres including YA Fantasy and Romantic Suspense. Weaving Invisible into words, she explores spiritual truth woven through ordinary life with equal dashes of breathless adventure and tongue-in-cheek humor, all soaked in God's Grace. She writes in stolen moments, usually in the back seat of her tiny car.
Her home is in Makhanda, a South African university town, where she lives with her hubby and three daughters who all take turns at being home. Her love-language is tea and taking long drives to listen to new songs with her girls. When she’s not stuck in her car writing, you can find her feeding all the hungry people in her house who gaze at her expectantly around mealtimes.
Cleo came to Eden Cove to escape notoriety after a mistake left a bride in hospital - and she's eager to hide. But when a new friend's daughter decides to get married in Eden Cove in weeks, she reluctantly agrees to help plan it. As the wedding approaches, she begins to fear this wedding too will end in disaster, albeit of a different sort - but working with James to prepare it has its own unexpected benefits. Will this project force her to flee again or give her a new purpose in life?
A short, sweet read, which I enjoyed as something quick. I would have liked to see more character development in both Cleo and James (not to mention their relationship), but there probably really wasn't space in a book this length. The fox made for an interesting side character - I don't exactly know much about them, so it was nice to see them as something other than a pest to be killed. And as for Paisley - well, I partly guessed the twist, but not completely. So yes, a touching but fun story if you're looking for something as a brief escape.
Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.
I loved this book! Ms Wilson has contributed such a fun finale to this memorable series. Ex-wedding planner, Cleo, is the next character to choose Eden Cove as a hide-out, moving into the last cottage, No. 12 Sycamore Street. First a sparrow, and then a fox, prompt veterinarian consultations. Vet James, however, has larger concerns: his daughter wants to get married and expects him to organise the celebration in Eden Cove! In desperation, but with subtle coercion, he convinces an unwitting Cleo to help him work through the list. Gerry the fox provides humour and cements the relationship that is developing between James and Cleo until Paisley springs her final surprise on the couple. A fast-paced novella, filled with quirky coincidences, a sincere friendship, beautiful descriptions of popular Eden Cove sites and a really surprising and poignant conclusion ensured my enjoyment of this ARC.
Dianne J Wilson concludes the Our House on Sycamore Street series with a wonderful read full of perfect wedding locations and second chances. From their first meeting, misunderstandings and chemistry spark between wedding planner, Cleo, and vet, James. Cleo has fled to Eden Cove after an oversight ruined her best friend’s wedding. But it would seem this world-famous wedding planner isn’t done with organising weddings, when the only person she knows in Eden Cove, James, asks for her help to organise his only daughter’s wedding. Enjoy all the wedding feels in this page-turning later in life romance.
The Wedding Planner's Predicament by Dianne Wilson was a gem of a story! The characters were lovely, although I had my doubts about James' daughter at first. Eden Cove was described in such a way that I want to visit. There was a cute twist near the end of the story, that even though predictable, was very effective. Well worth the read!
Lovely story This is a quick, fun read with delightful characters--human and animal. The author managed to weave together an entertaining story and fitting end to the Our House on Sycamore Street series. I'm sad to bid goodbye to the Eden Cove community.
What do you get with a woman shunned, handsome doctor, animal in pain, and a group of AA (Animal Aid) folks working together to make a single girls wedding come true? Well you better get this book to find out!!
The book was just waaaay to corny for me. It was like hallmark to the extreme. I wanted to finish it, because the beginning intrigued me, but I’m sorry, the twist at the end was just . . . It just didn’t work and wasn’t worth finishing to me.
