The MX: Life after mass extinction

Rate this book
280,000 days later

Extinction is complete. Almost. Until recently, Vara was one of the lucky few humans left on Earth with enough food to eat and non-toxic air to breathe. Then her underground city exiled her for a crime she'd rather not talk about. She's guilty. She deserved it.

Her new home is the the wasteland once called America, where a good day is living to eat another powdered worm. It holds dangers Vara has only ever heard about, and more that she hasn't. Out here, just breathing can kill you. Something called an ocean can drag you away and spit back your dead body. Out here, babies are born in a different and grosser way than they were born where Vara came from.

Out here, people do bad things to each other.

There are stories of another place, somewhere out there, just as good as the home Vara can't return to. Maybe this other place really exists. Maybe not. Either way, searching for it beats sitting and waiting to die.

If only she could make some friends to come with her. That might be easier if the people out here didn't consider her a liar and a coward. And they're right. She is. Success in this bleak new existence will be measured by more than just simple survival. Learning to stay alive isn't the same as learning to live. Vara will have to do both.

If you love post-apocalyptic and dystopian tales with a strong human element, where the choices are never simple and the answers rarely black-and-white, step outside your silo and into The MX. It's a dystopian road trip, but the roads are long gone.

Apocalypse nightmare

Okay think of mad Max except you're not in the desert and the main character is a walking nightmare. So you have to decide number one if you can stand the character to what you think of all the characters that you meet and are slowly growing with during the entire event and last but not least are you going to say your rooting for them or you're against them and how much more can they possibly get into honestly there was a couple of areas that I was really shot things didn't happen in but that's all I'm going to tell you in the meantime good luck hope you like it and happy reading everyone!

I did really enjoy this. A well balanced & written story, interesting ideas, something a little different. I did like the overall story but found the main character a little abrasive through out the book. Saying that still a really good fun read & I will look for more by this writer! I do recommend!

Loved this post apocalyptic story! Remnants of Wool/Silo in the beginning, but only as a place of departure to truly see what the MX has in store.

I enjoyed the inventive & imaginative twists - as well as things of our time peeking through.

The characters are decidedly human, neither all good or all bad, which makes it easier (or harder) to like them. The main character Vara is definitely challenging to like or not.

The plot moves along swiftly with logical motions. The setting is a puzzle to decipher with naming clues if you want to play.

Great story - I'm ready for the next adventure!

I found this book to be an of book. The story had intriguing elements and I particularly liked the character shine, kuper and surprisingly armony. The world-building and character development was also quite impressive. However, I felt that the plot clarity could have been a bit better along with the pacing. Overall it is a decent read and I would love to see a sequel that builds on the strengths of this book and addresses the weaker areas.

Absolute MUSTread

If you love post apocalyptic themes. I found book 1 to be very unique and well written. My most favorite character is Shine. I laughed with her, cried for her and wanted not protect and hug her. Each character brings the whole story to another level. I am looking forward to reading all books in thus series. I'm hooked! Well done Aries Nadaiya!

Dystopian Genre

When I first started reading it felt like a part of the Silo series. The story quickly takes you to a distant land with partial reminders of names and places. Decent read, looking forward to part two.

Not your average post apocalypse

A fresh take on the end of the world with a lead character you may or may not love. So far a more realistic way that things would go. You won’t regret spending time in this world, even if you should.

Very slow start. By chapter 8, I decided to keep reading!
The lead “heroine” is not likable at all, but the author keeps dropping enough hints to want you to keep reading to find out why she is the way she is!
Reading Book 2 now. I’ll let you know!

Not sure how I feel about this book. While the book itself was entertaining, the FMC was so unlikable, it was frustrating to read at the same time. Overall, though, this dystopian book was a fun read. I will definitely read the next book in the series, to see where the story goes.

I enjoyed this quick read I found on Kindle Unlimited. It did remind of the Wool series, Made Runner and The Park Service series. I liked the language building and trying to figure out the original names of the places in the book.

Can't wait to read more

This series is starting out really good. I'm invested in the characters and rooting them on. Hope the next book is on its way.

Excellent story...

Any story that's able to elicit an emotional response from me is well worth the time.
It might have been aggravation at the MC, but this is a good thing...

Not like any other book I have ever read, but boy is it good?

Starts off slow, but stay with it. It is different from any other book I have ever read. Recommend it.
