Lakelyn I’m a nobody. I’m alone in the world, counting down the days until I’m eighteen. That is until I’m sent on a retreat with five other girls to celebrate my birthday. Nothing bad can happen in the middle of the woods, right?
Master Simon None of them matter to me. They’re useless wastes of space. I crave the feeling of their blood on my hands. Until she appears, my Little Shadow. And nothing will stop me from taking her.
Short and sweet and just a tad bit spicy. I am a sucker for cult vibes. This book ticked all the boxes for me. The violence, the smut, the crazy cult family... fantastic! Definitely recommend 👌
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Overview Lakelyn is the unwanted child, she doesn’t want to be a part of this crazy cult her family loves so much. But one night her parents sent her on a camping trip for her birthday. Only to find out they betrayed her, offered her up as a sacrifice for there cult. Little do her parents know the cult leader has an obsession with her.

I recommend if you are looking for a very dark and unhinged horror read with a bit of romance that has you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Questioning everything.
This book was crazy! When I read the first paragraph I was HOOKED and SHOOK! The horror in this book was insane!! My jaw was on the FLOOR through this whole book, I sat down to read this and never got up. I was so freaking intrigued and pulled straight into this book. The chemistry, the tension, and the suspense were amazing. I’m still absolutely speechless, the plot was insane, the storyline was chef kisses and the whole story was freaking crazy and so deranged! The cult vibes were so unhinged! Even though this book wasn’t long and didn’t have much romance in it, getting to read about how obsessed Master Simon😏 was of Lakelyn was addicting!! He was so morally grey! And then reading the backstory of Lakelyn and Simon absolutely broke my heart, the trauma and torment they went through was insane. This was the perfect prequel and the freaking cliffhanger!! I seriously need more of them like I need air!!
The ending had me shook. I’ve never jumped up so fast in my life!! I need more like I need air! Cause holy fvck!!
4.5⭐️ Wow! It was short, suspenseful, intense from the start, very pitch black, it wasn't crazy spicy, but this is just the beginning. Hopefully there's a book two because Loralai and Ryan left us with such a cliffhanger. You will definitely find yourself saying, "Wait?! It can't be done yet!" You will definitely want to read the triggers because this is pitch black from the beginning.
Loved the book and how dark it was. But, the ending was a bit off for me. It ended on a cliff-hanger and hopefully there is a 2nd book. I hoped for a revenge but unfortunately there was none in this book.
"Run, little shadow, because if I catch you, I will ruin you."
Book Review: What happens when you have a very strict upbringing? What happens when your sister is no less than a bitch? What happens when your dad calls you to his office and informs you that you'll be going on a camping with 5 other girls? What happens when you feel like something is off because you can't believe your dad suggested something like this? What happens when you are dropped off somewhere else instead of on site? Why do you think they have dropped you off someplace else? What happens when you were supposed to go with church girl but get to know they aren't from church? What happens when you fear something is off? What do you think is going to happen now?

Dark. Eerie. Disturbing. All three components in this collaboration between two talented authors. You may want to think first before going into the woods; unless you want to see what really happens in the dark. It doesn’t matter if you scream, who will save you?
A nice, dark and quick novella🖤 I’m a sucker for any book that includes a cult, so of course I had to read this one too!! I really liked it and I think it sets amazing bases for the next books! I cannot wait to read the next and to see the characters development!
This story follows the FMC who’s family is part of a religious cult, and who sends her to be a human sacrifice. Our MMCs is the cult leader who has always had an *obsession* with her.
Tropes: non-con, age gap, secret cult, primal, virgin FMC/MMC, *who did this to you*
Stand out lines/quotes: The moment my finger brushes up against her thin barrier, it’s game over for me. Every doubt I have in my mind vanishes in a millisecond. My eyes collide with hers as I whisper, “Mine,” making a shiver run through her body.
My Thoughts: This was a super-fast read! Took me maybe an hour or two to read but it was definitely worth it. Nice and messed up creepy cult vibes with a spicy ending. The ending was kind of sudden and felt a little incomplete, but it didn’t exactly leave you feeling like more was absolutely necessary, like the incomplete ending was appropriate to the storyline.
I don't really know how to review this at this time.
It's NOT a dark romance. It's NOT an erotic horror. I didn't DISLIKE it but I did feel it was probably released far too early, without a lot of context or world building. I also feel like the trigger warnings didn't cover everything that actually needed to be stated and also downplayed a lot of things did go on.
I feel like I just read a short novella of pure TRAUMA and almost NO plot, which was a bit disappointing--but I KNOW this duo will definitley elaborate on the plot and add a lot of substance within the upcoming full-length novel. Also, I did feel like it was a bit insulting to insinuate a girl who was born into a cult wasn't being groomed her WHOLE life, although I do understand it was meant to refer in a sexual way for the benefit of Atticus, however, even if she isn't one of his "Disciples" directly, it's clear she has been groomed by her family to behave a certain way and believe certain things about herself and the world, which is further evidenced in her behavior in flashbacks, in interactions with her family and with Travis, and even how she reacts to Atticus in the forest/cabin scenes.
I think this whole story/wold has potential to brew into something great and it is clear Loralai and Ryan are wonderful writers, but this was a hard read and not because "it's dark romance/erotic horror" or I "didn't mind the triggers"--because I knew those things 100,000,000%. Pushing the envelope is great, but if there isn't enough world building and context, it can just feel like a trauma/pain dump and then the reader has to do extra after-care for something they didn't necessarily agree to the terms of.
I absolutely adored this pitch-black twisted deliciousness! To see this story evolve has been a delight and I’ve enjoyed the horror duo that is Loralai Blake and Ryan Mundy.
I was hooked from the very first paragraph— tongue anyone? 😝🙈 Dark occult themes amidst a sadistic cult setting, creepy hunter and prey stalking through an endless forest scape and barbaric ritualistic scenes build to deliver a climactic cliffhanger that packs the ultimate punch. If you have zero triggers and like your horror gory and erotic, then Shadow’s Sinner is the perfect novella for lovers of the genre.
I read and then reread this and still need more… hoping for a sequel ASAP.

‼️Now this is a pitch black romance so make sure you read any and all triggers before walking in to make sure there’s nothing that triggers you.‼️
Review: OMG where to start! Just what a story. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. So this story starts be following Lakelyn, our FMC, whose family is part of a religious Cult. Her Parents are disgustingly strict, a sister that's a b**ch and of course the favourite child. Our MMC Simon is the Cult Leader who has an obsession with Lakelyn since he saw her the first time. This book is twisted in many ways that has a lot of turns and definitely some WTF moments. But also a few moments where I burst out laughing. Im honestly truly surprised in a good way at how well this book was put together. This book does end on a cliffhanger but I’m looking forward to the next book!! Thank you so much Ryan Mundy & Loralai Blake for this opportunity. This book was amazing!
So my ending thought is this book deserves a 10/10 rating. People need to read this because it’s really good and spicy.
Definitely add to cart or tbr. Trust me, you won’t regret it!!
Shadow’s Sinner by Ryan Mundy and Loralai Blake is a gripping blend of dark fantasy, suspense, and romance that keeps readers hooked from beginning to end. With its immersive world-building, morally complex characters, and a slow-burning tension that builds throughout, this book is a must-read for fans of paranormal tales with a dark edge.
The story follows a protagonist who is caught between the forces of darkness and their own inner demons, making for a compelling journey filled with twists and emotional depth. The character development is a highlight—flawed, layered, and deeply engaging. The love interest is equally captivating, with an intense and brooding presence that adds to the book’s intrigue. Their dynamic is charged with tension, and the romance unfolds naturally, never overshadowing the larger plot but enhancing it.
Mundy and Blake’s writing is atmospheric and evocative, painting vivid scenes that bring the world to life. The action sequences are well-paced, and the stakes feel real, keeping the suspense high. The supernatural elements are seamlessly woven into the narrative, creating a dark, immersive setting that adds to the book’s appeal.
While the story is engrossing, some pacing issues slow down certain sections, particularly in the middle, where the tension could have been tighter. Additionally, a few plot twists feel somewhat predictable, but the emotional depth and strong character arcs make up for these minor flaws.
Overall, Shadow’s Sinner is a thrilling, dark, and addictive read that delivers a perfect mix of action, romance, and supernatural intrigue. Ryan Mundy and Loralai Blake have crafted a story that lingers long after the final page, making it a strong addition to the dark fantasy genre.
If you're looking for a dark, twisted, and edge-of-your-seat kind of read, Shadow's Sinner delivers. From the very first chapter, it's clear this is not your average story—this book is drenched in suspense, psychological manipulation, and raw, gritty emotions. It’s definitely a book for those who enjoy darker themes, so I highly recommend it only to readers 18+ due to its intense and explicit content.
The story follows Lakelyn, a girl who feels like a nobody, days away from her eighteenth birthday. That’s when everything changes. She’s sent on a seemingly innocent retreat with five other girls. But what begins as a birthday getaway quickly descends into something far more sinister.
Enter Master Simon, a sadistic and bloodthirsty man with no regard for the girls in his clutches—until he sees Lakelyn, his "Little Shadow". The book becomes an unsettling dance between obsession, danger, and manipulation as Simon is drawn to Lakelyn in ways that are terrifyingly possessive.
The dark psychological elements are gripping, but I do wish the book had been longer. It’s the kind of story that draws you in and keeps you hooked, but you’re left craving more—more depth, more twists, and more exploration of the characters and their fates.
If you’re a fan of dark romance and psychological thrillers, Shadows Sinner will definitely satisfy your craving. Just be warned: this is not a light read, and it pushes boundaries in ways that may not be for everyone. But for those who can handle the shadows, it’s quite the ride.
ARC Read Review - This is a Short Horror Erotic . It's on the Dark and Twisted kind of side ... This little treasure surprised me !

Where to begin. This one was very dark and gory. It’s very descriptive and bloody. Since the beginning it was interesting and I finished it quick because it had me intrigued. I’d say that their both innocent in a different way. Lakelyn is an outcast and doesn’t have a good relationships with her younger sister and parents. She’s the oldest and they don’t like her for unknown reasons. Atticus never wanted to live his life the way he was forced to. From a young age he was forced to become someone else. Atticus was protective of his “little shadow”. She goes through so much but ends up surviving. The parents and sister were so mean to her. She never did anything wrong but to them she did everything wrong. It ended in a cliffhanger so I’m very excited to see what happens next and finish reading their story. Hopefully she gets her happy ending and gets to be free.

LAKELYN— She is a good church girl. She obeys her father and the rules for their church. She is pure and almost 18. In their church all girls wear dresses and nothing else. She hates it and everything she has to obey. But finally her father gives her a gift or so she thought.
ATTICUS—- he is the master of the church. He inherited the lead from his father eventhough he doesn’t want it. He is pure and yet he wonder how it would feel or how far can he go without sinning and disobeying his king. His disciples follow his every order, but one disciple disobeys him and he knows this when he sees her.
The plot twist in this story is just getting started and yet I am curious what will happen next….
This ARC was a short but not in any way sweet ride. It is full of dark themes on nearly every page and oozes horror. Is it good though? Oh, you can bet your soul on that.
This book is a little prequel to a longer novel in the works by the author and tells the short story of our FMC Lakelyn. Growing up in an abusive and thoroughly religious household, she's the black sheep of the family, seemingly without cause. On her 18th birthday, she's thrust into a camping trip of a different sort and soon learns, that the world is much darker than she thought. Enter Atticus. Dark in every sense of the word, older, unapologetic, and on the hunt for his next victim.
Ryan Mundy manages to tell a twisted and dark story filled with throwbacks and a backstory, not many would manage to know in under 100 pages.
If you're on the search for a slow building and deep plot, this might not be for you. But if you're into action-packed horror that leaves you on the edge of your seat, waiting for answers to your questions, you might want to try it. It is the perfect intro to the story of Lakelyn and Atticus and personally, I can't wait to read more.
Lakelyn - Has had a rough upbringing, one which was strict, one where you have a Bully for a sister.. Lakelyn knew she should never sin, coming from a church background. She was surprised by her father who surprised her with a camping trip for her 18th birthday, with other girls she does not know, not only did this come as a shock after her father being so strict, it also ends with disaster...
Are you ready for one of the worst 18 year old camping trips, in the deep dark woods... if you scream who will hear you??!
Dark and sadistic cult setting, one with a twisted dark prey hunter/stalker, with a barbaric ritual scene that includes rope and a knife to the tongue.
This was a beautifully written small Novella, one which is dark and twisted. What a great Novella to start October's spooky month with.

Shadows Sinner is horror erotica at its finest. From the prologue all the way to the cliffhanger 🧗 ending it was disgusting and disturbing 😳 all the while having you hoping this FMC and MMC find their version of a Happily Ever After. 🖤
“Simon says open your fucking mouth,”
Master Simon is the leader of a cult, 👀 has some people eating tendencies 🤢, can preform a sacrifice with the best of the, 🩸 and is 14 years older than Lakelyn. Lakelyn is a broken girl 💔 with a terrible history and family unit, black sheep 🐑 energy in pretty much every area of her life and is finding herself at the mercy of Master Simon. 🙏🏼 This isn’t the first time Master Simon has met his Little Shadow though….
Between the flashbacks, the cult vibes, ✝️ and a good old chase 🏃🏻♀️ this book had everything in it for a perfectly deranged love story. And the best part it’s all packed into roughly 90 pages. 📖 When I say I read this in one sitting I am not joking you. It’s so bingeable. Loralai and Ryan did a fantastic freaking job 👏🏼 with this story and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Master Simon & Lakelyn.
“Now why don't you be a good little shadow and listen to what Master Simon says? Suck my c*ck like your life depends on it, because it just might.”
💖 Atticus & Lakelyn 💖
I’m not sure what it says about me that I love a good cult trope, but here we are. And this novella? Such a tease! I’m already dying for the full book because this was not enough to satisfy me. The novella is like a prologue to the full story, and if it was this unhinged already, I can’t even imagine how wild things are going to get.
As an eating disorder dietitian, I was a bit nervous going in with the Bulimia trigger warning. I’m usually super critical of how eating disorders are portrayed in books, but honestly? I was impressed. The authors nailed it. They kept it realistic without leaning on the tired old trope that eating disorders are just about weight or body image—because that’s not true at all.
And let’s talk about Atticus. Creepy? Check. Mysterious? Double check. He’s the perfect cult leader. The guy’s willing to throw everything away just to make Lakelyn his. Honestly though, the real villains? Her parents and sister. I’d take a cult leader who cuts out and eats tongues of sinners over those toxic people any day.
If you love unhinged cult vibes and a creepy-yet-devoted antihero, you need to grab this novella ASAP—and buckle up for the full book, because it’s going to be a wild ride!

When I first started reading this book, I thought to myself, “what the hell did I sign up for???” But I ended up loving the book and I’m excited to read the next book. It is a short story and I read it within a hour, but it was soo good that I didn’t want it to end 🖤🖤

Have you ever read a prequel novella and just know the story it is beginning is going to captivate you? That was Sinner’s Shadow for me. Anything with some religions trauma and cults/secret societies and I am in! Add that with a morally gray leader and a naive young adult woman not knowing the ways of the world, and POW! You’ve got a whammy! Lakelyn is the picked on kid who is waiting for the day she can run away from her perfect sister, abusive parents, and religious upbringing. She is a few days shy when he father suggests she go camping in the woods with some other girls in the church. She is absolutely elated to be spending her birthday away from her family! Will she use this an opportunity to escape or will she stand up to all of her obstacles?
Very short but with a smidge of spice. The storyline played out smoothly though I wish some tings were focused on more and some focused on less. I really think this is the foundation for a great series to come.
I want more of this book omg. Why did he decide to leave at the end? I wish there was more details to that.

Wow, this is definitely dark and read the triggers because there are definitely some people may not be able to handle.
Lakelyn is treated poorly by her parents and her sister too. They all rell her she's worthless. So she tries to be good but she has been sneaking out and keeping secrets. When her parents tell her she's going on a church camping trip with some church girls for her 18th birthday, she's a bit happy to get away.
Atticus is the Master of a cult that sacrifice innocent women. A part he never really wanted. He saw Lakelyn when she was younger and was intrigued by her. When he sees her in the woods that is part of the girls to be hunted, he's surprised to see her. Once he hunts and gets her, many things happen. Such a great dark novella and eager for the next!
this was so fast paced but so good? it just has you wrapped up. the PROLOGUE? BITCHES THE PROLOGUE HAD MY JAW DROPPED. when they said trigger c a n n i b a l i s m they meant it. but yes master simon 🧎🏻♀️
it deals with some topics of religion and culty vibes which are my favorite types of books. they just give such a ✨vibe✨ especially when the fmc is like “no wtf is this”
definitely check your triggers with this book because it haves HEAVY topics but its so beautifully written. i am VERY excited to see that there will be another one written because i need to know what happens next🤺 i did not enjoy that edging cliffhanger 🥲
3/4⭐️ would have given a 4/5⭐️ had it not ended like that . I understand there will be another but I am not a fan of endings like that . Good story line , probably gonna be a great book when finished . Hopefully I will be able to read the arc when completed ! So far it had me drawn into it completely. I felt sorry for Lakely , and the crap her family put her through . Her parents were horrible but her father , was straight up a monster . She should have know he was up to no good when he let her go on a camping trip . Turns out, she has found her savior in Atticus . Even though he chased, stalked and put her in a cage , he knew she was not suppose to be there . If you like cliff hangers ( which I do not ) get this book .
This novella was so addictive, I read it so fast and I’m ready for the next book! This book was full of suspense and twists & turns until that massive cliffhanger ending!!!
This book follows Lakelyn as she’s approaching her 18th birthday. On her birthday her dad sends her on a camping trip with a few girls she doesn’t know and chaos ensues. The main male character is Master Simon who is the leader of this “cult”. I don’t want to say anything to ruin it so I’ll stop with that!
Overall I enjoy this read so much, it set up an incredibly interesting storyline with great main characters. I’m excited to see what comes next!
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I will think about this until I can have more of it 🖤 Bang ❗️ this read starts off gruesome. With a secret society/cult with sacrifices 😮. I sat down and read this in one session it is a fast read but little did I know it’s a prequel and boy oh boy am I thankful for that! I can’t wait for the next book to come out and see where this story about Atticus goes. I don’t want to give anything away but there this was a suspenseful read and went quick with darkness lurking in all directions.. please check you the author notes and warnings as this is dark and mental health matters. There are so many possibilities I can’t wait see the story go further into Lakelyn’s family maybe?? Will there be a ‘Simon’ ?
