Mark Lawrence is married with four children, one of whom is severely disabled. Before becoming a fulltime writer in 2015 day job was as a research scientist focused on various rather intractable problems in the field of artificial intelligence. He has held secret level clearance with both US and UK governments. At one point he was qualified to say 'this isn't rocket science ... oh wait, it actually is'.

Mark used to have a list of hobbies back when he did science by day. Now his time is really just divided between writing and caring for his disabled daughter. There are occasional forays into computer games too.

It's been almost 6 years since I finished the trilogy, and I still think about Nona and Arabella, lol. I love them so much. I reread Bound now and then, and now this one too. Thank god this short story exists and that I finally got a physical copy of it, alongside Bound through the publication of Tales of Abeth.

A very cute moment with some of our favorite characters from the Book of the Ancestor series.

Mark Lawrence welcomes readers back to Abeth with "Thaw," short story that takes place many years after the conclusion of Holy Sister. Any additional time with Nona and friends is time well spent.

"Thaw" elaborates further on the relationships among Nona and her friends long after the conclusion of the Book of the Ancestor. It’s especially interesting to see how they’ve grown together or apart in the years since Holy Sister.

"Thaw" is a hidden gem for Book of the Ancestor fans. Be sure to check it out!
