My review will be live on my blog - donnasbookblog on 17 October 2024 - publication day!

I love the books in the DI Ramsey series and I couldn’t wait to get started on this one - I can't believe that this is already the 25th book in the series too and the quality of the releases is still exceptional - and that takes some doing!

I loved being able to catch up with the characters as there had been a personal loss. The story started with a sensitive murder and it causes a bit of tension between Carla and Sara at the outset. We did see a bit of the rest of the team and Mark in the story, but not as much in this book as there has been in others. This case does have Sara and Carla baffled initially as no one in the village can imagine why the first murder has taken place and they just need a break and a bit of lucky to crack this one.

The plot was well planned out and I loved where the author took me with the story.  I did guess who was responsible for the murders but it didn't detract from my enjoyment at all.  I love the author’s writing style and if it has her name on it, I know it will be a book that I enjoy as I have said before in my other reviews of her works - this was no different – it was a great read

It is no hesitation in my rating for this one, it had to be 5 stars – very highly recommended and eagerly awaiting the next one in the series!!

Another day, another most excellent book from one of my top ten authors. Definitely the most prolific!
This time it's DI Sara Ramsey's team up to investigate the nasty death of a local vicar in small rural village. They have only just got started - in fact not really getting anywhere cos who kills a well respected, well loved vicar - when there's another death. Double the victims doesn't always mean double the clues but they do start to find connections. The investigation is not helped by the fact that there is something going on with Carla which is making her relationship with Sara a bit tense. I know they bicker but this is a notch above that...
As always the plot is interesting and intriguing and kept my attention nicely throughout. This was helped by the story getting on with itself very well, with absolutely no superfluous waffle or padding. The characters were also well drawn. Main characters continue to develop as the series progresses, minor characters all do their jobs well, and the episode characters, major and minor, are equally well represented. We also have the usual stuff going on outwith the crimes being investigated but, as always, nothing too distracting and exactly what you'd expect from a series book.
All in all, a cracking addition to an already well impressive - 25 books already - series... Roll on next time!

Things seem to be quite heated between Sara and Clara in this recent case which was sad to see. Even though they do bicker every so often as I suppose working so closely with someone, it can be trying at times, more so if you are having an off day. Am hoping things in the next one are a little less tense between the two.

In some ways the current case felt like an episode of Midsomer Murders. An idyllic village where everyone knows everyone and the first murder especially is a shocking one for the villagers to come to terms with. It’s a real whodunnit as even though there are chapters from who is responsible for the killings, it gives nothing away to the reader of their identity and I have to say when it’s revealed, it’s a real shover!

Last Man Standing is an all engrossing murder mystery. As I have come to expect from this author, the murders are brutal and you can always guarantee a decent body count to add to the thrills of the story. It kept me guessing as well as racing through the pages to the shocking finale. The author really puts Sara and her team through some tough cases and whilst I feel sorry for them, it makes for some exciting reading!

My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

I couldn't get enough of this book, I whizzed through it, and even though I was utterly convinced I had an idea who the killer was, I was totally wrong (although did guess what the key issue was!).

Always good to be reading another DI Sara Ramsey story, and this is another cracking instalment.

There are a series of shocking murders in a really small hamlet which is rather unusual for the area, but yet it is clear the murders are pre-meditated and yet the police don't seem to have any real leads to go on.

I always enjoy seeing how the investigation comes together and this really ramped up to a thrilling conclusion.

The story had unnerved me enough that I regretted reading it just before bed and then kept thinking I could hear noises, although I did get some sleep, but other than that I couldn't wait to finish it the following morning.

It's easy to read, kept me on my toes and was just yet another really impressive book from one of my go to crime authors.

Thank you to the author for for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Truly twisted and unbelievably cruel and vicious murders have Sara and her team at their wits end in this fast paced, gripping thriller.

The story begins with the murder of a much respected Vicar, well thought of by his parishioners in the small village in which he lives with his wife and son.

A troublesome farmer, a corrupt council and now, it seems, a brutal murderer . But why would anyone in this small and friendly village, where everyone knows one another, choose to end the life of a well loved man of God. Could it be the work of a stranger?

When another local is found dead, Sara and her team must endeavour to establish a motive and apprehend the perpetrator before anyone else dies.

As the cases progress it becomes apparent that all is not as it appears in this seemingly close community.

Highly Recommended.

DI Sara Ramsey, Carla and the team have a sensitive case on their hands, when a local vicar is found murdered in the grounds of the vicarage.

No one in the village can imagine why he has been killed, everybody loved him. With time being of the essence after yet another murder, the team have no idea how to solve these cases. They just need that one piece of evidence …

As well as needing to solve the case, Sara and her husband, Mark, also have his mum’s funeral to help arrange.

Another wonderful read from the author. The story flowed and the characters were an interesting lot. The author always writes about things that do affect others in her stories, which gives the books a more human touch to them.

Book 25 in the DI Sara Ramsey series and it doesn’t disappoint.

There’s disbelief in a small village when the vicar is found murdered. With everyone singing his praises Sara is at a loss to discover a motive that could lead to the killers.

The situation worsens, leaving the villagers in shock, when other victims disappear and are also found dead! Can Sarah and her team find a link that will ultimately catch the killers and determine a motive.

Couldn’t put this one down and can’t wait for the next.

This is a brilliant book & must have been a difficult one to write considering the gory details of the victims when found.
DI Sara Ramsey & Carla have a new investigation to solve when a local vicar is found hanging from a tree. Without a single clue to go on, the pair & the team are at their wits end to solve this case when another body is found. Clearly there is more to this than meets the eye in this normally quiet village.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book encouraged by the fact that I had no clue as to who was doing the killing.

What a great story of how the team really throws themselves together and works at finding out the criminals.
Though our leading ladies have a bit of tension & who doesn’t if working that closely, things do get sorted and as always nothing holds them back. Not even a dirty killer like this!
The story was gritty & no lie it didn’t seem to slow down.

Another stunning read in this series, it started very quickly & keep building but I knew the team would solve it, didn’t guess who it was tho. Must say I was shocked at who it was. The ending was sad but lovely as well. Another reverting book Mel, well done.

The DI Sara Ramsey series is one of my favorites. Buckle up as there’s so many twists, before you find the resolution to the vicar’s murder and more. It’s a complex storyline that will keep you engaged from start to finish. Definitely a top notch whodunnit.
