I know I'm overanalyzing a smutty novella, but hear me out. This line?
"I've known her for longer than most people know their own kids."
My headcannon is that they're actually in their 50s/60s.
Because in the book, they met when she was 18 and he was 21 and they wrote to each other etc, eventually something happened and they haven't seen each other in 7 years so I know they're closer to 30 than 50, but say they knew each other for 10 years, I don't think most people lose their parents that young. I did at 13, but I'm not the majority.
This is just my detail oriented mind, maybe the line was supposed to be that he knew her BETTER than people know their own kids, that would make more sense.
ANYWAY, the novella was fine. I've read similar ones before that I liked better, so I knew what to expect. I was hoping I'd love it though, but alas.
The writing was okay, but it didn't really do anything for me, neither did the characters. I actually kind of disliked both of them, which made it hard for me to care about their storyline.
I agree with the people who said the ending felt rushed, it doesn't feel like their story was properly concluded. There will be another book though, following different characters.
I'm not sure if I'd read it, even if these two make a cameo, maybe I'll give it some thought and then decide.

So I got the pleasure of reading this book before it was even out for ARCS🤭 (what a flex) and when I tell you guys this little Novella packed mean punch I’m not kidding!!
The way Riggs can put a complete story in such a short book is honestly so impressive.
The concept and the plot of this is SO FUCKING COOL
And the spice HIT THE SPOT. I devoured this book.
This book was such a freaking good time, I was doing all the things giggling, kicking my feet fanning myself. Definitely a must read!! Perfect for a pallet cleanser

i saw this short story on my tbr so i thought i’d read it since i wanted something quick and easy. sadly, it didn’t do anything for me lol.
the characters were one dimensional tbh, they both read the same and didn’t have different personalities to them or anything. the reason for them not talking for 7 years was stupid at the end of the day and that kinda put me off the story as well. i only really liked sierra and we barely got to see her :(
the writing style wasn’t too good either, i don’t know if it was the edition of my book but the amount of typos was insane! aside from that, the characters also constantly cursed to the point of it being obnoxious and it got boring quick.
i did find the secret sexual event intriguing and i wanted to know even more about that, but aside from that, nothing in the story was at all mysterious or sexy or much of anything. i wanted more subtlety, more yearning, but maybe it’s just me. a lot of people seem to love this one. i personally don’t think i can recommend this.

This short book was honestly such a good time, I didn’t expect a lot going into an 80 page book but damn was it good❤️🔥 I mean going into it you KNOW or should know it’s going to be spicy and fun and slightly dark, and wow was it HOT🥵 It honestly gripped me quite a lot with the slight plot we got which I absolutely did not expect, but the little twists especially when we find out what Cairo does as a job, that was quite fun to read as I didn’t expect that what Deckard (not exposing his real name😉) was trying to do in 2nd Chapter would be liked to her🫢 Oh and the possessiveness from the MMC? DAMN! I mean simply putting it I just loved them both and I honestly enjoyed every second of this book so I’m rating it 5⭐️ And I am HOPING this is not the last we see of them two because I NEED more!! I need the backstory because it just wasn’t enough 😩

I'm not even sure what I just read. A complete waste of 69 (🙄) pages . It was 69 pages of filth with no storyline. I didn't get the point of it at all. And it cost me over 7 pound

This was my first read by C.J Riggs, and oooh my she did NOT dissapoint!
Her way of writing had me devouring the book in one sitting, and left me wanting so much more!
The characters, the settings and the plot was just phenomenal for a short story, and it didn't take long for me to fall in love with Cairo and Deckard.
You should definitly read this if you dream of a masked man being your 'Caretaker' at a rave party, and his only job is to fulfill all your darkest desires 😈

I just want to issue a heat warning before you continue because this little book is HOT. If you're worried about your reading goal and want to add something quick and steamy, look no further.
Idée Fixe is a club/fanasty provider where you apply and put what you would like to happen and they decide if it will happen. Well how do you make sure no one talks about this club? Put hackers as the owners so there's some collateral on the line.
This book was so fun and for being as short as it is, under 100 pages. The beginning is you finding out that the mmc knows thr fmc but she won't know it's him and he has plans for her.
The book is dark and fun and honestly seems like it would bebfun to go to even if you don't get chosen. The story had actual plot as well but was mostly spice and the spice delivered for sure. The mouth on this man 🥵 lord have mercy its so good. The FMC, Cairo, also has a mouth on her and her mouth definitely gets her in trouble and the outcome is so fun. I saw that there is hopefully going to be a second book with some of the other masked men and I'm excited to read that too. If it gets extended into a full length I wouldn't be mad at all!

When I tell you I devoured this book! As soon as it dropped, I put down my current read and let me tell you it did not disappoint. This book BANGS! Hard.
I was obsessed with MMC Deckard, and Cairo the FMC. I loved her so much. She writes the best characters & ugh I just loved it…. It ended far too quickly. But it was an incredible read. It was hitting with the spice too, hot damn. 🫠
Not gunna lie, feel a little book hungover 😫.
The writing is just a breath of fresh air, she’s an auto buy author for me. Get it on your TBR. It’s easily the best novella I’ve read…..

I loved this so much for the simple fact that within 80 pages we were able to still tell a story even tho the book is mainly smut. I love a second chance romance if it’s done well and Deckard reasoning for leaving was valid, but ofcourse that shit would still hurt and Cairo was such a badass I love a strong fmc.

Unfortunately I can relate to the fmc in ways I never thought🤣 but it made me instantly fall in love with the story!
I also needed a cold shower after this one! 🤤🫠🥵🥵🥵🥵 The spice was absolutely delicious and I couldn't put it down!
